Unsurprisingly the Kickstarter failed. Less than $500 raised out the target. So no funding what so ever from this. Obviously the public didn't buy into the dream.
Appart from stock sales. Which we saw a RS just before the Kickstarter went live.
So Writ, where do we go from here? More sponsorship? More marketing BS?
Your average consumer probably won't be able to get a Amiga emulator without some help. Which is why a system like this would be useful. However the Retro Infinity Player, while good on paper, suffers from one major flaw.
Writ Media and their retro games subsiduraries.
If Cloanto were involved I would imagine it would have worked. But Writ on their own.... Nope.
Eight days to go. Which means this has to hit a daily investor amount of $12,483 in order to fund. Now how much did that fsiled NASCAR sponsorship cost you? And the failed attempt at the webstore?
How about all the investor money that has been bled for one thing or another?
And yet more "product" in the way of PR. Kickstarter has 10 backers, at $143 of $100,000. With some dodgy rewards including a "console" that no one has seen yet.
Please Gregg. Do us all a favour and actually get the people behinde this to update their kickstarter page with updated info. Like the fact they are not associated with the race team this year, that the team will just be honouring some past agreement. Get some info on this supposed console on there.
Just 14 days to go.
Well this is going pretty much as I thought it would. firstly this is a stagering amoutn of money to be asking backers for. What is the breakdown of the costs? Where is the money going? How far along are they with producing all this?
The rewards are just a joke. I mean the NASCAR thing ended last year with a spectacular waste of money as it did nothing. Making it sound like it's a current arrangeent is probably going against the Kickstarter TOS as I am sure you have to be completely open and honest about rewards. Which means thats a complete crock of crap they have spouted.
What is this mystical console? Why have the stock investors not been made aware of these plans? Unless, of course, it's yet more BS. Saying that it's on the top most tiers so who is really gonna throw that much money at these guys? Probably answered my own question on whether it's BS.
Number 6 on Amigaworld has done yet another cracking job of bringing all the crap together and giving us a nice little timeline of all this. I suggest people go take a look. Especially potential investors.
The only product these people have made is PR. PR is what is keeping this company going. I doubt we will see anything come of this retro Infinity Player or anything else from these guys for that matter.
Can't say I am surprised. They weren't doing anything with it.
You guys forget to pay the hosting company again? Went to all the sites and getting a host gator standard parking page.
Well for all the hot air proberts9999 vented the prices have yet again dropped.
No sorry I am not that person. Though I know who you are referring to.
I have been a Commodore fan for a very long time. And have used many of their computers from C64 to Amiga 1000 and beyond. I don't subscribe to any forums but I do keep an eye on all the various OS4, AROS and Morph OS stuff.
It's all pretty simple really as to why the Amiga Games have now gone.
http://awesome.commodore.me/16520/
Basically Cloanto now owns the rights to a lot of Amiga related software including the Classic OS and Kickstart ROMs. The Kickstart ROMs are actually pretty vital as these are required to get the Amiga computer running. Anyone who even has a slight understanding would realise that this locks anyone out of making a working emulator/game package to sell without first going to Cloanto and getting a license to use the Kickstart ROM. That's unless they decide to not package the ROM with the app. Which lets be honest would be pointless.
It would appear that Amiga Games Inc might not have had as much clout as they claimed. So was a needless purchase.
So my post about the lights been on... Yeah scrap that the site has been parked.
http://writmediagroup.com/cgi-sys/suspendedpage.cgi
And so has Retro Infinity and Amiga Games. Only Front Row has a working site. For now.
Basically they screwed the pooch and got nothing to show for it other than crap on their doorstep.
They blame everything on the stocks been sub penny. But if they actually had any product to sell, other than marketing BS which seems to be their only "product", they would increase those stocks. Well might have increased them say a year ago anyway. I doubt many will want to touch this now.
I can't believe they have had Amiga Games Inc for nearly two years now. And done nothing with it.
I also can't believe they wasted, and I have stressed this before, money on a NASCAR sponsorship. If they had the cash to do then I could kind of understand. But they didn't. They threw it away when it would have been better used in online advertising, specialised magazine (gaming) advertising or even product placent with a gaming blogger or YouTube channel.
Their point of sales sites were a joke. No sooner had they launched they were taken back down. Their emulation front end software will probably never see the light of day because they have no idea what they are actually doing, oh and the stock is sub penny let's not forget that one. Other than sitting in front of a camera with marketing BS and some mockup graphics of what the games could, and I stress could, potentially look like if they got their assets onto the mobile market.
Oh and let's not even go into Front Row because let's face it that ain't going anywhere.
Light are on in the office but people are just walking around, occasionally walking into static objects because they are in a dream land. I am sure this all sounded good when they added stuff to the portfolio. Maybe they thought someone would come along and offer money for the things in it.
Who knows. I will be sat with the popcorn watching the show continue.
Well I can imagine what the next report will say. I just feel bad for you guys that bought into it all.
0.0024..... Wow
Another project with the Amiga name going down in flames. As much as people jested about Commodore USA it has to be said they at least got a product out of the door. Yes the product was a vastly over priced, re-badged computer; yet they did get it out of the door.
If only they had paid attention to what the investors were saying instead of throwing money at useless publicity stunts. Could be said numerous times over but the fact remains that money was WASTED on a useless NASCAR sponsorship deal. Their quarterly reports showed they were wasting money in far too many places and not getting anything in return.
Gregg rather than regurgitate the same news articles, how about you give us something a little more concrete?
Seems that this is going nowhere and the stock prices indicate as much. At one point there was a accessible store front. Now that seems to have gone and we have a holder page again. The NASCAR promotion ended in nothing more than a fizzle and we have yet to see any kind of tangible revenue in any of the quarterly reports.
It's no surprise that the Retro Infinity store front has gone again. As a third party I find it sad that they couldn't get this nailed down properly. They blew money on a needless NASCAR promotion when it should have been used to advertise in a more efficient method. Like magazine space, social media, gaming blogs and the such. In fact the money should have been used to sort out the licensing and store fronts.
The recent news about Cloanto just shows that Writ had no clout.
Surely 0.004 is a new low?
Is it me or has the investor relations people now cleared off too?
I am surprised that this company is still going to be perfectly honest. I honestly thought they would have folded, rebranded or done another reverse split by now.
Well let it not be said that people saw this company for what they were a very long time ago. I have seen some money making scams in my time but this one certainly takes the biscuit.
Just been to the Rick Ware Racing Facebook page and noticed there are no longer retro infinity stickers on the cars or clothing. So much for that sponsorship deal. Oh wait they don't have the funds to do it any more do they....
Again not only look at just the Amiga element. The entire reto games thing was flawed.
1) All their catalogue was based on selling old games that can be easily emulated with very little effort for free.
2) They would have to compete against Good Old Games and Steam in the Windows retro market.
3) The only experience Amiga had at selling retro games was through BlackBerry app store. Considering how many BB10 powered devices were sold the total of games sold would have been very small.
4) Did I mention GoG? That has a very well established retro gaming store.
Are they still claiming to be poised for this.... What happened to the kickstarter thing and the player they had planned? Wonder if they got the rights to use the Kickstart images to actually get the Amiga games playing.
Not exactly anything unexpected though is it. They have thrown money at a NASCAR team, spent money on a company to produce investor relations stuff and also handle investor relations on sites such as this. They have paid out for licensing fees for software and what ever else.
It all works out if they made money on this stuff.
Oh wait......
And a link to the report

I asked the same questions about how they are packaged and got zero response. As someone who would have invested, and could still potentially invest, I feel these questions need to be answered.
What is their long-term plan for digital distribution? What are their plans in regards to competing with GoG and Steam and even Origin (Who have been selling repackaged retro games for a while)? How far does the licensing agreement with Gremlin extend in terms of back catalogue? Who else have they got licensing agreements with or are they relying on freeware and the shady grey areas of abandonware (Lets be honest here, anyone who has done emulation in the past knows that abandonware is a little more than a small grey area. Especially if owners find out they their stuff is been resold)? What are the 50 games you have ready to be released and do you have screenshots of them working from your store?
Also how are you selling the PC Windows platform games. Are they a specially purposed EXE files ready to run or are you supplying a emulator, some files and a TXT doc with instructions? GoG and Steam both have really well established distribution methods. And GoG have some of the best games packages I have seen in the retail retro scene. I would also be curious to know if the BB10 Amiga games were transferred to yourselves when the Amiga Games deal went through? If so are you generating any income from them? Do you still have the rights to distribute these games (Many were by Team 17)?
Amazing how it's all taken a nose dive again. So much for the sponsorship deal.
Also how are you distributing the Windows ports of the games. Are they coming with a pre-packaged emulator or are you just shipping disk and CD images?
Also what's your long-term plan about sites like GoG and digital distribution services like Steam that have been doing this far longer?
Anyone who does a bit of research into these guys can see something isn't right. Press releases without substance. No news on new products. No screenshots of potential games they are working on. Nothing. And yet their PR, if you can call him that, guy is asking people to invest in pure blind faith. And then throws the teddy out of the cot when he gets pressed for answers to these most basic of questions.
The guys over at Amigaworld.net have done a great job of keeping track of the bull and have some interesting links too. Might be worth a look.
As someone that put thought into investing I can't consider how I ever did now. Good luck to the people that have. I hope something does eventually come from it all. But I doubt it.
