sorry to hear about your disappointment afford. im making over a 400 percent return on bluebird but I know you consider that off topic so I want mention it again.
just dropped in to see what condition my condition is in. two things look obvious. one is that only an idiot could loose money in this market and two we are in for a major correction. I took my 150 percnt return on nwbo and put it in kite and blue and im making 70 and 75 percent respectively. I would be wealthy if I had money to start with but I spent it all on land and a house. its hard to know what to do now . ive got some ideas but ideas don't exactly get a warm reception here. ive been investing in small bios for about 30 yrs now. that's just long enough to know that I don't know crap about what im doing. good luck to all here. I don't post here anymore but I still follow occasionally.
you have my sympathies Manfred von richthoven. ive had almost the same identical symptoms for the last five years. I went from manually pushing 10000 lb cans of freight all day long to spending 6 months in bed to barely being able to lift I tiny sack of groceries at walmart. ive never been the same and had to quit working. I was finally diagnosed with dysautonomia after two years of constant tests. I always feel now like im coming down with the flu and have to spend much of my time in bed. now I take one day at a time and do what I can and the hell with the rest of it. that's all anyone can do. you cant push back against something like this although I still try. the best you can do most of the time is just try and endure and survive it.
so far my prediction months ago that this stock would drift lower and lower without news is holding up. it was a no brainer really. this huge drop in the overall market hasn't helped any. if lawsuits were to take place , who would be more in the line of fire? wouid it be af or linda? linda has her neck in the noose since anything she says could affect her pocket book. af has nothing to loose. he doesn't own stock in this company and you cant prove that he would make a dime either way the outcome goes. anything he says cant be proven beyond a shadow of doubt to be a conflict of interest or anything else unlike in linda's case. I predict much more defeaning silence here till we start looking much like imuc.
good idea flipper. I hope those updates will finally lay all the doubts to rest. Im thinking either dvax works and works well or its the biggest hoax ever perpetuated. for the life of me I cant find any absolutely conclusive evidence pointing in either direction. judging from the stock price, im not alone.
strangly enough , the worse the side effects of car , apparently the better it works. it makes you wonder more about the effectiveness of nwbos dvax which has relatively few mild side effects. there are lots of hurdles with car but if I had exhausted everything else, I think id give it a try.i think its the difference between striking a watch with a feather duster or using a sledge hammer.
supposedly the two deaths were unrelated to car therapy but they do sound suspicious. these patients used in car trials have exhausted every avenue and are weeks away from death. they are all stage four. I lost everything I invested in generation one cancer vaccines. once bitten twice shy but hoping for a different outcome this time around. the only hope for survival in this game is to not put all your eggs in one basket no matter how convinced you are or how appealing it looks.
good grief. lol remind me to never get on your bad side flipper!
thanks john. that's a very interesting bit of info. im going to check into it when im not so tired. I wonder what the connection is there?
I hope so long. cart has yet to be proven against solid tumors. tumors and even the cells in individual tumors differ so much genetically, that its going to be hard to target them all. b cell lymphomas and luekemias are low hanging fruit because b cells all carry a single common antigen. I think its called cd 19. everyone of these therapies, including nwbos, will be tried with check point inhibitors. the sky is the limit. it should be extremely interesting to see how it all shakes out. I hope this is the start of something that will finally offer some cancer patients real hope. we are going to put our foot on the gas and let our foot off the brake and see what happens.
thanks highwayman. unfortunately I only have 200 shares of kite. the first 100 I bought at 29.17 and the second 100 at 21.80. its going up on no news so the uptick is probably only temporary. cart still has a lot of bugs to be worked out. I bought 200 shares of blue at 25 and its doing pretty good right now too but the 1600 I bought of oncy at 1.27 have totally flopped. the same thing happened to me with imuc. slow and steady is the way to go with immunotherapy stocks. no one knows for sure where they will end up. best not to bet anything if it keeps you up at night. money is useless in the face of cancer. I hope things work out well for you, nwbo and cancer patients.
I was unaware of that long. thanks for the imformation. I don't want to be a doe in the headlights in the other extreme. however if you just follow what Novartis is doing, it makes you think. they are investing millions in cart and they are going as far as building the u of penn a multimillion dollar research center to develop this technology even further. the ceo has told u of penn and carl june that money is no object. all Novartis wants is cart advanced as rapidly as possible. cart maybe a dead end but there are a lot of people much smarter and better educated on the matter than me that are staking a lot of money that it will succeed.
I got out of this stock for one glaringly simple reason. dr. manish singh is one of the foremost cancer specialist in the world. he was trained by dr. Stephen Rosenberg , chief cancer specialist of the nih and the founder of immunotherapy. he states simply that cancer vaccines are at present only powerful enough to maybe slow the return of cancer. they cannot cure cancer. tumor infiltrating luecocytes have cured cancer and so have chimeric antigen receptors. they have both cured stage 4 cancers. vaccines have never cured cancer at this stage or any stage. t cells occurring naturally in the body cant get the job done even if they recognize the cancer. the t cells have to be supped up. they have to be made more powerful through gene editing. even then they don't work on everyone. car t cells have two killing domains instead of the usual one killing domain of a normal t cell. they also are engineered to include an antibody which gives them much greater affinity for antigens than a normal t cell. I just don't know what else I can say other than this. I know its useless to say anything.
linda powers must be related to Austin powers because you have been shagged baybeeee!
more glad by the day that I sold this one at 7.71 a share.
I think that you hit an important point of which we all are probably aware by now flipper. immunotherapies create memory t cells that persist and fight the cancer for years while chemo has to be given over and over and becomes less and less effective. I wonder which immunotherapy creates the most memory t cells?
thanks for the reply hodge. ive done research on steven Rosenberg who has been the chief cancer specialist at the national institutes of health for years. he is a dedicated and rabid researcher who still puts in 14 hr days. I think I heard once that his mother died on the side of the road in his arms from cancer while they were fleeing Nazi Germany when he was 9. there may not be truth to this story , im not even sure where I heard it. nevertheless he is consideredd to be the father of immunotherapy and has been at it relentlessly for 40 yrs. I find it strange that he and the national institutes of health are both apparently backing two companies with rather disparate and conflicting therapies. one company is lbio with their tumor infiltrating leukocytes and the other is kitepharma with their car or chimeric antigen receptor therapy. I think that eventually these therapies will merge rather than compliment each other and they will form a single company. they, like nwbo, will almost certainly be tried with checkpoint inhibitors. I really have my doubts that nwbo can top a 51 percent response rate in stage four metastatic melanoma. this is what lbio and Rosenberg are achieving without checkpoint inhibitors. its expected to be better with them. its true that the cytokine storms are treacherous and the procedure is complicated but the bottom line is that it is saving cancer patients who are hopeless and who only have weeks to live. nothing else even comes close to these kind of results. the main thing is that it works. the other problems can be ironed out. nwbo has many fewer side effects yet the literature out there does not convince me beyond shadow of a doubt that it is effective. I believe it is effective but im not convinced it is more than marginally effective. I just lost almost half my money in oncy because the therapy only provided 5 extra weeks of survival. oncys therapy has the best safety profile and the least side effects of any therapy to date classified as an imnmnunotherapy yet with only five extra weeks of life it flopped.
hi evaluate. manish is hellish to listen too. I must have listened to that conference a dozen times before it made sense and then there were a couple of things I still didn't understand. my reply to hodge has a brief synopsis of what I got out of that conference. im flattered that you listened to it.
thank you for your kind and complimentary reply hodge. its true that I have spent a lot of time trying to make sense of this field. ive made two blunders already. the first was imuc and the second was oncy which crashed a few days ago. according to manish singh cars are limited to attacking a single antigen while most tumors are too heterogeneous with multiple antigens for car therapy to be effective. he also gives cancer vaccines a short shrift because he states that t cells on their own are simply not powerful enough. his approach is to find t cells within the cancer that are already successfully attacking the tumor, reengineering them outside the body to be more powerful, multiplying them into the billions and then reinfusing them. since these cells were already attacking the cancer to start with , the problem of multiple antigens is solved. this therapy has had what is considered jaw dropping success with stage 4 terminally ill metastatic melanoma patients in a stage 2 trial. 20 out of 90 were cured and remain so months or year later. the drawback is that apparently melanoma has much easier t cells to find and take out of the tumor than other cancers. the other drawback is the cytokine storm that follows treatment. no one knows how this will all work out. the combinations are endless.
take a listen to what dr. manish singh has to say about cancer vaccines at lion biotechnologies presentation at the rodman crinshaw conference. its about 4 minutes and 15 seconds or so into the presentation.
chocolate bars stacked to the stars on the big rock candy mountain
this turkey is dying just like this message board
my prediction. In a years time this board will look like the imuc board.
reading some of these posts is like reading a tax return.
I feel the same way homework. if it coopletely eradicates pancreatic cancer in mice, why would it take ten years to test in humans? if you have pancreatic cancer , you would try anything to save your life. you would sign anything or do anything. maybe this is one of the reasons that biotechs are starting to move overseas. how lucky to play golf with your son. my old man and I were always hunting and fishing together. he died at 46 when I was 23. id give anything for a few moments together with him again out on those ice and snow covered fields hunting quail with our old bird dog pearl.
can you believe there is something called (trucks) that when used with cars (chimeric antigen receptors) makes them deadly to solid tumors? this field is mind boggling.
thanks added that article to favorites homework.
interesting article homework. im going to see if I can find an article I read about a possible immunotherapy cure for the deadliest cancer of all. pancreatic cancer.
no problem maverick. any price appreciation in kite is two to six years away if ever. im of the opinion that nwbo wil pack a punch against cancer but kite will pack a much more powerful punch. my main concern with kite is the horrendous side effects. the side effects are temporary but dangerous. at least nwbo has a well established safety profile. cancer may well be found to be a disease of the immune system rather than a disease in its own right.
after immunotherapies have been developed, what are the next big advancements in cancer therapy? im thinking that reprograming cancer cells back into normal cells will be next and in the more distant future egg and sperm cells will be edited so that any cancer causing genes will be eliminated.
hopefully barn linda didnt even want to dignify these law firms with a response. maybe she is holding her fire till the time is right and she can see the whites of their eyes. time will tell. my step father owns nwbo at my suggestion. he is a 91 yr old ww2 vet and is struggling with his health. id like to see him win this one just to improve his spirits and id like to see linda win it for cancer patients too.
thanks maverick. that's very good advice and something i didn't consider. i wished id known that earlier. maybe that is why i lost 30 percent in kite right off the bat. im a poor boy but i put in an order for 100 more shares of kite at market open tomorrow. im either right or wrong. if im right then time is on my side. if im wrong then im screwed no matter what. i wished i had the kind of money that some in here have. if i did, id take my toys and go home. id never look a the market again. id still find a way to be involved in fighting cancer though. good luck to you maverick.
dang. what the hell is going on in here? im lost.
I have an acquaintance who has prostrate cancer that has spread to his bones. his doctor suggested provenge but when he looked at cost , side effects and life extension of only a few weeks he declined it.
maybe it was just law firms investigating nwbo afford. I saw a bunch of stuff on nwbo page. something like wiesel and wiesel or snake in the grass and associates doing something. have you tried meditation afford. my psychologists is training me how to relax. next message will be meditation video if it isn't deleleted.
since all these law suits were filed against nwbo, the silence from linda has been deafening.
the side effects from these checkpoint inhibitors are pretty grim. the same goes for chimeric antigen therapy although there is some evidence that car therapy side effects will be temporary and manageable along with the treatment itself. whether or not car or anti pdl are superior to nwbos dvax will be mute point since its a certainty that dvax will be used in endless combinations with other immunotherapies.
