"Share price and trading patterns are the best reflection of (a) company's insight and possible future." My correction on your grammar, you're welcome.
Most people would disagree with this premise. Actually its the fiscal fundamentals of a company that are most likely to predict its future. And PR's and conference calls, plus a perusal of professional analysts would define a company's insight. (If, by insight, you mean where they would like to take the company)
I find it hard to fathom that you believe the total focus of this company is a convoluted game of share management designed to line the pockets of the executives. How do you ignore the completed contracts, new contracts and expansion?
I'm sure the 16:00 close and final trade brought a smile to the longs and investors. Tenuous maybe, but a nice way to close. Have a nice weekend all! Spring is here.
SUNW is a small regional (growing!) installation in the US.
SUNE is huge billion $ (well, was!) international solar power production company.
Different prongs on the solar fork really.
"But it doesn't change the HISTORY that we were told by JN, SLTD had a ready for market revolutionary cell which only required a manufacturing partner to be on the market, a cell which was designed to be not much more expensive to manufacture than a traditional panel, and a cell also designed to fit in to a standard solar panel assembly line"
You are right, this is what happens when you invest/dabble in experimental or innovative technology. It doesn't always work out! Time to let that go, at least this time the company has provided a more stable and traditional outfit to continue on with. They could have given up the ghost, re: Solyndra. And many others. I feel that we can't really fault SUNW for trying a new technology and it not working out. We all took the risk.
Some may remember that I was fortunate to meet Mr. Nelson a year ago at an investors presentation in Florida. I was also able to talk to him as he ate his meal at our table. Publicly, he stated that the cell was both working and ready. But he went on to say that, as designed, its the manufacturing process that is the glitch. They, at that point, had reached out to manufacturers, and no one was willing to take it on. Think of the machine, procedural, process, facility, component, and probably other changes involved to a manufacturers floor. My interpretation is that its too complicated a project, and possibly financially prohibitive as well. He's been quite clear since then that the company's (SLTD and now SUNW) focus is on installation. Does the cell exist? Of course, but while not entirely shelved (Q4 conference call), there is not a lot to be done, other than continuing to put out feelers for an interested manufacturer, probably overseas. In the meantime, the focus is on the building of a installation company. And though I'm greedy, (I wish acquisitions would come quicker), I believe he's actually done a damn good job. This stock is a hold due to the installation growth and projections.
And that's a fact, IMO!
But it does:
1) Show confidence in the company
2) Unofficially call a bottom (In my mind)
3) End the silence and start to prepare us for the Quarterly report.
Another board is saying 7 Form 4's, IHub still at five, maybe that will change.
LOL, its more than one, Mooon! There are five new forms fired out of Edgar up there. They are sending a message! And well received it is too! Enjoy your weekend.
Yes people, that was sarcasm based on a thread late last night. Sorry for any confusion. Usually, I don't get my stock picks from bar flies.
Surely not!
Actually we were getting lost in sarcasm. BTU actually filed bankruptcy warnings today.
Welcome to the board!
I met a guy in a bar, and he told me that he was a stock trader. He was a real nice guy so I bought him some drinks. He said to put your money in coal. Makes sense to me. Nothing like a warm fire. I'm going with BTU! No more solar for me.
Yes, but the proof of the scam IS the fact that they are profitable. This way they can attract other investors. Get more investors, more profits, its like a reverse Ponzi!!!! We've been had!!!
I'm not sure why a 'pop' would result from opening a storefront after they announced that they would.
Forget pops. Look for growth. Look for expansion. New bottoms. Steady share price rises. Increased profits.
Want pops? Go to the OTC. 4geddabowdit!
Which market is that?
NASDAQ: RGSE Up
SEDG Up
SPWR Up slightly
FSLR Up
SSOL Up (nearly 100%)
CSIQ Up
Cudos to Jeremy if you are out there. Well reasoned and well timed.
Well you sure are feeling the fear, and, it appears, attempting to spread it around. Why will it drop so much, can you back that up?
If you had the willingness to take a risk, you would see that this is a great buy with greater upside potential than downside at these prices. Never bet the farm, but hey, there's a lot of potential here! No sure things in the market, just different probability levels.
IMHO If I was Einhorn, I would have the lawyers and staff working on getting out of the VSLR deal. 24/7! I think they'll find a way. And by saving his ass, he'll help all of us! Hold on a couple of months!
"on or before"
Chinese devaluation, cranky analysts, creaky and large corporate structure, sector pressures: at some point (price level) none of these matter any more. I think that point is now and can only see a SCREAMING buy. But that's just me. But this will be going up, soon. Very soon even. This is way over punishment for the quarterly numbers. I have no idea what level its going to go up to, but I'm bullish and see it as a "no brainer/inevitable" at these levels. If anything the current jitterish market may slow the climb back up, making it not so much a pop, but a climb allowing it more time to be identified.
Thanks for listening to the world according to me!
Summed up my feelings exactly! Waiting myself, and checking in less and less frequently. Good Luck to us all (longs)!
Anybody else notice that HYSR and CABN appear to not be trading today?
Not at all, it shot up when 99% of us (my percentage as the only people who were trading were overseas holders) were unable to access our accounts with US brokers. It was there for a short moment before plummeting back down again. I hate seeing it and people that talk about selling and catching that price are having, should we say, a memory malfunction.
Wow, Mr. Griffin will hardly get the Pullitzer will he? Its full of misinformation and missing other key info. (Like we happen to do some installing???!!!)
I agree with you and have not been on the board in some time, so didn't know about that. I'm on board big time and will stay as such. I met him in Florida in March at the Orlando meeting and was impressed with his persona. I feel the conference call itself allows him to focus and stay on track. Plus it enlightened us all to what he's been up to these three months. I feel privileged to ask the question about the location of some of the proposed acquisitions. Another state to grow into!
I missed that. Do you know where they put the written version. I was excited to hear that he is looking at potential acquistions in 'adjacent states' in answer to my question. I interpret that to mean Arizona. Glad to hear we may be moving there too!
and you base this on???? Do you mean as being taken over ourselves? I'm not surprised. Solid quarterly figures, history of growth and upgrade, huge backlog, and cheap pps with imminent growth accelerators. Do you have any specifics?
Kinda. But make it a polygamous marriage. Husband works hard. 2 or three of the 8 wives run wild with the cards. He divorces Greece, what about Italy and Spain? Do they get a pass? There are many issues to this. Will the other wives want to leave when the husband breaks his vow with one wife? But German and northern European taxpayers are getting tired of funding other countries generous retirement programs. This is the consequence of people, in this case Europeans, forgetting that all government money comes from someone's pocket.
We, in the solar sector, will have to grow away from the all the subsidies we thrive on as well.
Yes his flippancy was uncalled for. We are at the mercy of weak wills, international uncertainty, sector pressures, and (and I think this is more of a dynamic than often accepted) margin calls on short term investors caught in the panic. Call a bottom? Not me, but I think we will pull out as before and struggle back up again.
Thanks for that info. If someone wanted to put that kind of money into this venture, they would probably want more than just common stock. Still, your perspective and report is helpful.
"Reports of my demise are premature." Mark Twain
As I'm sure you all missed me, LOL, just wanted to say that as a large holder of this stock and previous avid poster, I'm still around. I haven't sold any, and just got caught up with chores around the farm where I live. Swimming in the pool, catching chicken thieving raccoons and volunteer acting in community theater. Stock collapsed again I see. Boo. It all rests on Q2 and further acquisitions, IMO, and I see big EOY pps compared to today's dismal showing. I will sell some stock if/when we get over $5 again for summer funding, but retain the majority for greater heights.
Just didn't want anyone thinking I had bailed out on SLTD.
Enjoy your summer, y'all!
Anybody know how or why we lost 4 moderators?
At the Florida presentation in March, that was the template he followed, but did allow questions during the pitch.
We didn't bid on it. It also had a commitment to run and maintain the power plant for 20 years after completion. Not our style.
That I called the Patent lawyer to ask stuff. (This is all about a year ago) and his reaction was relayed to me. I emailed an apology to him. Its old news and resolved.
However a good chance they would attend the meeting I suppose!
I called them once, they won't talk to you! It got back to Jim and he was pissed of supposedly!
I'm familiar with the difference between them, and I think its misleading of them to call it Solar Power as we do. Its a ludicrous idea on a grand scale and totally unworkable in the long run. I read they spend most of their time with a large percentage down. And the danger of the intense heat from the mirrors and the steam. Just waiting for an accident. But that's me!
Ah right, thanks. Well lets hope they don't do any more of those ridiculous plants and then call it solar.
Is Utah where they did that rather bizarre solar thermal plant, with mirrors all in a circle, that burns the birds as they fly over?
Nope, prefer seeing this great land from the ground. And having an explore on the way home. So much to see. Give me a US interstate, decent wheels, and all night talk radio and I'll drive all night, with java at the truck stops!
Well, I'll be there for sure, Salt Lake City or anywhere! Anyone want to share gas from East Tennessee?
