What is the exercise price of the warrants? TIA
When they axed Merritt for the new CEO, a veteran of the actual business IDCC is in, I doubled down on my modest position on the theory that the Company will be sold. I still think it is happening. These things take time. JMO.
It's nice to be back in contact with you and many others on this board. I think the IDCC board has the longest average tenure of any chat board on the net!. Some, 25+ years.
Myself and my clients took about a third off the table at $65.25 on the run to $80 from $5.00 in, I believe, late '99.
I still have an amount of stock to keep my attention and my ex-partner (and current broker) at RBC still has many hangers-on, with smaller positions than had originally.
I am a believer that the Company is being set up to sell (or, at least I hope) For the last 20 years, BM and crowd have not defined any course of action that has been contributory, in any meaningful way, to the revenues and value of the Company. Yes, they have amassed almost $1B in cash, but so what? What's the plan to convert that cash to shareholder value?
I apologize that I have not kept up with the intense DD of IDCC, that I do with companies I am "all in" in.
I don't expect it, but if there is anyone here that could bring me up to date concerning the goings-on of the last 20 years, maybe I could be more excited and more informed.
Thanks to all.You all are what I call long-term investors.
Vee Hockmeyer
Perhaps they NEEDED to bring someone else in, other than BM, to in cut out the fat and find the right buyer. Under BM, revenues have barely grown at all, while expense have diminished the very healthy margins the company used to have. Dead end street. Time to sell.
Application of lipstick perhaps in advance of sale. It's about time, IMO.
He never seems to learn.
First, I know close to nothing about the science involved here. The announcement alluded to the fact that there are 80+ AAV trials , either in the FDA process or currently enrolling. Just saying that the advanced discussions that APDN is having (according to Hayward) could be with a Pharma that say, has several or many such trials going on, or about to be submitted. Caveat: I have a habit of connecting dots. My batting average is way less than .500! So, don't go by me.
This announcement may be a prelude to the deal with a major Pharma company that Hayward referenced in the CC. I think he used a term like comprehensive, or foundational in his description of the discussions with this Company. GLTA
I agree. It is so predictable. People do not understand the difference between a growth company and a value company. Yes, I too was disappointed with the review of the past (Q3), but I do believe there is significant opportunity with Covid testing and Linear DNA. They don't even need to be ultimately successful. A present value of DCFs from a successful test kit and ANY PCR business would translate to multiples of the current SP. I'll be a buyer tomorrow or the next day, too. GLTA.
Yes. What he has to say about the current quarter and beyond should be everyone's focus, because there's nothing happening in the past.
Makes sense.
Guess I was misinformed, or misunderstood. We are on the same page that we are now in Q4, since APDN is on a September FY?
I had forgotten that you have a "core" position. Glad to hear it.
I believe it is Wainwright that has June Q and Sept Q revenue at $3M and $4,7M respectively. My guess is that we will be short on the $3M. However, if they do do $3M, now with the amended approval I believe $4.7 will turn out be low. I.e., the ramp will be faster. There is still a large demand for test kits, world-wide.
I'm looking forward to some guidance on the current burn rate and break-even revenue number. GLTA
Out of curiosity: Are you in or out at this time?
This is a first, necessary step in APDN's bid to supplant plasmids with Linear DNA. With the potential of mass acceptance of the technology in DNA/RNA vaccines, the stock can go anywhere.
Forget about all the other supply chain verticals that APDN has tried to penetrate. The potential for Linear DNA dwarfs all these endeavors put together. GLTA
Yes. You are right. $5.3M was taken in by the conversion of about a million shares, leaving about 1.5 still out. Sorry about the confusion. Though it is nice to see those warrants get whittled away, while building up the cash position. Just a wild guess, I think we're going to need it!
Assuming these 5.3M warrants are in addition to the 5M a few weeks ago, there now exist a lot fewer warrants. Also, explains the weakness in the stock (with him exercising and selling). If he’s done, we could get a lift. JMO.
Is there a link Foose? TIA
I'm one of those old-timers. The second biggest loss I've ever sustained was in this name, and I've been around quite a while. Just saying that the move toward focusing on PCR and pharma-related deals may yield a different way that the market views the company in terms of valuation. We'll see.
But this "crazy" pricing phenomenon is exactly what could happen with APDN. As I have described before, Hayward is focused on morphing the Company into a biotech company. As such, revenues and profits become secondary in terms of share pricing. The present value of the potential, magnitude of APDN's disruptive technology, in their markets, describes the basis for biotech companies' seemingly outlandish valuations. If we get lumped in with similar, small biotechs, it could be an interesting ride. IMO. GLTA
This offering was easily absorbed. I’m not good at short term calls, but I think we are in for a big move. I believe the raise is for business expansion as opposed to “keeping the lights on”. I think we might finally be getting somewhere. Bullish AF.
If Hayward is successful in getting the market to value the company as a biotech, the stock could have a long way to run, whether or not the company is ultimately successful. With less than 5M shares out, there is a lot of stock price leverage. The SP could get crazy here, IMO.
One thing I am quite certain of, is that it is very unlikely there will be any surprises in the earning's numbers per se. This company is all about the future of transforming itself into a biotech company. We are closer than ever to actually producing some meaningful revenue or, at a minimum, reliable visibility that revenue is nigh.
I'd look for an announcement of a manufacturing partner in the near future. JMO.
I figured there had to be some conversions. There may be more if the stock can hang up in this range. JMO.
Don't know if people realize that the shorts you are talking about are shorts that shorted stock to the people pushing up the stock price. It's what they do. When they know they can deliver stock that cost them $5.25, it's a no-braainer.
If the price can hold well above $5.25, there could be significant conversion of warrants. There were 2.5M of them at the last offering. This could produce around $13M if/when all are converted. IMO, if there is significant conversion, we will see an announcement of same.
With news like this the SP should go up and stay up but interference by naked shorting, off shore "entities" will probably stem the tide like it has so many times in the recent past. Would love to be wrong.
IDCC is the only company I know that could possibly be down in this market. WTF is the story? I have no complaints overall, as I made a couple of Mil 20 years ago, but seriously--why do they seem not to care anything about the stock price?
I have not been paying close attention lately but----Google= new licensee??
Somethings never change. IDCC continues to be one of the most manipulated stocks in the market. Very aggravating.
Sorry. I thought you were questioning whether APDN is even involved in the deal. I see now that you are talking about the timing of the first order.
I have no idea when the first order will happen. My sense is within a few months, not soon enough for the revenue we need.
With today's FD, there is no such thing as being "plugged in".
GLTA
No, but the original announcement by Theracann makes mention of track and trace technologies. I am not aware of Theracann having any other track and trace supplier for product:
According to Chris Bolton, Chief Operating Officer of Theracann, "it is with great pleasure that we have been selected by House of Hemp, the catalyst of change in South Africa, to be their technical expert and project management team to achieve medical GMP standard for international cannabis export and to provide the necessary technologies to track every gram, every penny, and to ensure crop quality and reliability."
I forgot to add "IMO" to my post. The basis for my statement is that, historically, this is what Maxim has done, like clockwork, when it comes to secondary raises for APDN (and other companies). When they have been presented with volume in the stock they unload profitable stock and warrant positions. BTW, slight correction: there are some $.44 warrants, not $.45.
Really looking forward to Annual Meeting today.
Looking forward to that. GLTA.
The selloff is almost totally due to $.45-.50 warrant holders exercising and selling the shares for a 30-40% profit.
Tomorrow’s podcast should be very interesting. IMO
That's because there are no numbers, IMO. There are a lot of people that have never heard of APDN. Anything cannabis related has the potential to become a hot trade on hype and/or future promises. I believe that is what is happening now, perhaps in a small sense. Short term, any such hot-stock rally will be at least somewhat deterred by the millions of stock and warrants in the $.45-.50 range.
