There probably is not a liquidmetal component in the new apple products. Zoom out....Apple is stringing this technology along to either use a less expensive alloy/learn what they can from their current arrangement, or until it becomes feasible. It is not feasible yet, that is why there is not liquidmetal in the apple products. A sim card ejector doesn't count, that doesn't validate the material. The benefit from Apple, potentially, is validating the durability, the scratch corrosion resistance, and showcasing the beauty of the alloy. Anything short of that(ie, a small internal component) still kind of misses the mark. It would help for the share price, but will it propel the technology forward? We have already had a component in a phone. This will sink, and I will add if it gets back down to a dime...that might happen quick. The technology is still awesome, morale will hit new lows in the near term though.
I couldn't help but to catch that as well. I won't hold it against Watts if he is a little more optimistic today than a few weeks ago. I don't read charts, but I have read this board for three years and I take that as a buy signal!!
That due diligence rivals 95% of all others.
I believe lqmt is going to go up regardless of revenues because of who they are associated with
....It's .21 / share. More good news than ever. NASA. Punisher. yes, again, who cares, Apple. Hauck. It's .21/share. When there is certainty it will not sell for .21/share. You people act like no one has ever gotten rich on a stock based on pure emotion or speculation.
We are such certain and mature investors hanging around the casino of pennyland that we post so seriously about how a penny stock sucks because there are no revenues...
It's .21 a share. It has been lower, yes, I think the news and even consider the new and improved share count it is at a fair gamble price. I am underwater most recently, apparently the only one on the board who bought at .27 or higher, even though it traded at high volumes for quite a while up to .42,,,but everyone here has free shares, or low basis, congrats. It's .21. How much lower do you want it? It's like wanting to play $1 blackjack at the Wynn,,,go to a dump that is not hanging around with bog name companies and US Govt if you want to play ultra cheap games.
Agreed. I was energized by that presentation and more importantly, if I could become convinced that any developments in fuel cells and BMG's would be monetized by LQMT, I would stop watching this daily and just keep accumulating shares.
The presentation was powerful for me because the presenter was clearly intelligent, showed no previous bias to BMG, and with his extensive knowledge seemed genuinely excited(for an otherwise level presenter) about BMG and its possibilities in the fuel cell. It was validation of sorts for me. Thanks for the reply and also would love to hear what Anax would say about this.
That presentation is incredible! I remember reading what I think was a summary of what they did with BMG and my fear was regarding how much of what he is talking about is proprietary to LQMT? With all of the variations in alloys, if something like this were to come to fruition with fuel cells, would that revenue come to LQMT in any way? I am not a lawyer, or a chemical engineer, so it is hard for me to figure what alloys all belong to liquidmetal, which ones do not, and legally, do these BMG nano-wires fall outside the scope of our intellectual property?
Agreed. After following the board almost daily for several years I think watts uses his considerable knowledge and following on this board to attempt to influence price both up and down. Watts your knowledge is respectable but you seem more blatant this time pushing for a downturn to .12 since about .24. Almost entirely one sided in your arguments since then in spite of perhaps the strongest evidence to the upside.
Even if there are no earnings, this is a poker play, and if Apple decided to buy them out in 6 months you would look back and wonder how you couldn't have guessed that with the patents etc. i will be surprised if the PPS can stay below .30 in the next 60 days. My .27 shares could use that. At .12, I am buying another 100k to average down.
Watts, do you see any significance in those patents just posted? What is your take on it?
Sandy, sometimes you are funny!
Many people have agreed they don't think is a high iq guy, his actions may fit the description of a low eq "the willingness to give up what you want most, for what you want at the moment."
The emotional swings on this board are contagious. I have submitted to it a time or two. Sounds like "blood in the streets" Oracle....must be time to buy. I will not be adding, but I am not as down as I have been in the past. Apple is going to use this. Nobody has been able answer what is going on since the Apple contract expires in "early 2014." Something has to be coming on that front as they have made a serious investment outside of the small royalty fee. When that happens, game on, regardless of revenues to date. Take common sense and throw it out the window, this thing will run. It will happen. If I had more money to lose, I would be looking to add. As it stands now, I am at my risk of loss limit.
My prediction is....good news tomorrow, because anything short of bad news will be good, and it will probably be no news which is a win until the engel machine arrives.
I cant help but to think everytime I read your post of excitement, and then the sign off "Good Luck Longs"....I am reminded of when I lay cash down at the blackjack table, they give me my chips, and say "Good Luck."
In other words, we had another run on speculation, if there is no real news to back it up shortly it could fall like a meteor. On the other hand if their is news next week as watts implied it could move up. All stuff we already know but relayed on the board in 50 cent terms that you would need to be a trader to understand. The stock is no different. Only different for me because las time I bought right at .08 and sold at .20. Thought It was for real this time and jumped back in at .27. I quit gambling at the casino because you can lose too fast. At least with this stock you can choose entry and exit and the fun lasts longer.
It's when the stock opens lower then closes flat. Then goes lower in the next few days. Usually happens after a run up in the stock price. We had that at two levels in the last month. That means the bulls can't hold the price. It is like the last breath before death. Could also mean nothing.
Good post and positive, but I find it also concerning. An entity that can test that many different alloys, that quickly, and to think, there is nothing certain at all about an alloy being discovered, that is truly gamechanging-that will belong to LQMT. I am back in and long(unless it pops on no earnings then I will sell again.) I am increasingly concerned that LQMT will not be the company to capitalize on a material that will change everything and in our lifetime.
In my industry, machinery manufacturing, I see the greatest real world application for this material in coatings(there are many others-but this could have been immediate in my opinion). There is more and more technology on equipment today including sensors, electrical connectors, etc that are subjected to corrosive environments. Many current applications(all) to prevent failures on equipment falls short. These applications take an expensive machine, with otherwise long lives, and turn them into throw away machines in 3-5 years. A coating of this machine on sensitive connectors, sensors(where possible) and other fittings would be unbelievable, extending the life of a machine two fold, or even three fold, which would make the additional cost of coatings viable.
I think I have read where this part of the business was given away. The rail gun, correct me if I'm wrong,is just a liquidmetal coating. The coatings would have been a great potential for near term income. I think Watts has posted on that in the past. I just saw this link today although it is older, but a good laymans explanation for the potential. A manager of a product line could watch this and see real world applications for it in their business.

I hope to see other applications arise. This was a missed opportunity if it no longer belongs to LQMT. Some believe that maybe Apple got the better part of that deal as well with CIP, but there was postive there for LQMT. It is high time we make a good deal to capture revenue on this technology, because it is coming, and I am not totally convinced that those revenues will flow to LQMT,....unless,,,maybe they are doing something we don't know about. As I have watched over the years, I tend to believe what many might perceive about a company that shares little information...They are either incredibly smart, or incredibly dumb. All shareholders therefore are in the same boat(including me) and only time will prove it out. Only reason I am back is because of Hauck. He is the first representation of a link between R&D and a real application. He will sell something.
In the time I have followed this board, I have always felt this is the best application for lqmt because of the way it fractures when the material finally does reach the breaking point. It is very similar to a hollow point bullet in my mind, wreaking the most havoc on impact. Scary stuff.
It can be interpreted negatively, or somewhat positive since he sold less than half his shares. I view it as neutral. He is just a guy wanting some cash at the moment.
I still view Hauck as a big deal. Sure he bought shares and got 3 for every one he bought, bought that amount of money doesn't go that far. Salespeople like him have probably made some real cash and knows that 60k isnt retirement money. He is an industry veteran. Sales guys, thrive on...selling things. The fact that he is here is very positive for me.
I am back in today. The news seems more certain now that is did in January of 2013 when it was trading at .07. We have had some ups and downs since, but collectively, since then, there is the apple patent for sheets, the new alloy, the canards, a real salesperson,,,,lots of little somethings. Still need something tangible for sure.
Ok. All I am saying is I have never heard of someone from within a field, that has some proven track record, to take a sales job where they don't believe or see themselves making some sales.
Ok. Followed the board for years, bought in and sold for a profit once, had written this off. Of all the BS I have seen and read in three years on this board and elsewhere, the industry sales guy with real background is perhaps the most thought provoking. CEO's who know nothing of a business as it relates to actually selling something are common, they are operations guys, but for a Salesperson who perhaps has many other avenues to make a good living, choosing to come with perhaps an established customer base, and who might be able to see this technology finally as applicable on the horizon, is the most convincing item I have seen yet. I mean the technology is outstanding, but this is interesting. My funds have been deposited in the brokerage account, waiting for entry. I may lose the money this time, but not going to miss the chance.
If this thing runs tomorrow just some advice: trade it. I am on the sidelines, bought in at .08, sold at .18.19.21 last July. Bird in hand and a nice profit. I watched for two years before I bought(this board) and have read everyday since. Same people, new names, some of the same pumper and dumpers. Sell into it, and run! There are no earnings, more big news(which is the same), and management behaves the same way. You don't see insiders grabbing this thing up! Sell it and run. Don't listen to talk of potential....see Calvin Coolidge quote on potential.
Lots of sharks coming out of the woodwork with yesterdays volume. Any newbies would be doing good to ignore most of the posts. This is a penny company that has compelling evidence(patent) that the most admired company in the world will cover their products with this material. The patent is jointly owned throught Crucible(wholy owned by liquidmetal), there will be no further profits from Apple or parts sold for consumer electronics, but it certainly will validate this awesome metal and the process the patent represents is a breakthrough in the production capabilities not previosly known. Partnership with Apple on IP for patents, validation of an amazing material, and a whole potential world of opportunity. That is what is going on here. Ignore the pump and dumpers. This is not just another run on iphone rumors, we have lived that. This is all about the patent, what it represents, the validation of this material, and a new ability to produce it for an infinite number of products in all industries. Sky is the limit, maybe not today, but in the next 12-24 months. If you want to make it all in a day you have a better chance in the casino. And yes, that is different now with this patent. The hold back has been the lack of capability to produce it, and now that is over.
I am still not as depressed as after that last conference call. Today seems like good news in comparison because it seems to have bottomed, whereas at that time I was certain it was headed lower. Cant help but laugh. Next time I want to buy a stock I am just going to do the opposite of what I thought and I might be rich.
Still too much potential here for me to leave, riding this all way the to the bottom, or to somewhere in the green.
Fair enough, pretty sure I will still be in it without gains by then. They either can't talk about what they got or they got nothing. It is hard to tell.
I could have put on a more impressive conference call highlighting the income from cutting my elderly neighbors grass. That was demoralizing. However, my money in this stock isfor gambling. I wouldnt be a very good father if my kids' college was wrapped up in this.
Just not sure when you look at the positives, the rumors, the potential applications, why they cannot provide any evidence or specifics on anything material. I am going to ride this to the bottom, or to the top, there seems to be nothing solid in between.
Just saying, think we all know it is going to take lots more volume/average investors to be interested in this to make it move. All we got right now, to a certain extent are poker players, that includes me. GLTA
That all sounds great, but improbable to predict over an extended period and probably beyond the average investor. I watched this stock for a long time before buying 150k shares at .08.
I think people have given up on the Apple thing over time or have realized that there will not be any additional revenue from it. Go down the to the grocery store, walk down the street, ask people if they have heard of LQMT. Most have not. We do not need engineers validating this material, or doctors, or CEO's at trade shows. We need everybody to know what this material is. The upside for the longs is the exposure from Apple using this material. They have paid for the rights. They will use it at some point. Then it will be validated. Once validated, all of those other applications that are in the works, or on the fringe, start to fall, one, or maybe all. The average investor probably does not have the time or know how to trade this stock like that. A lot of people are probably here because this stock does represent a significant chance to hit a homerun. For me, 150,000 shares at .08 is not life altering cash. 150,000 shares at $1-$5 starts to change things. It does't matter if it takes one year or five years. We are all betting on what we don't know, or what surprise may be out there. If you knew what is was exactly, the stock wouldnt be 8 cents. My two cents. GLTA
To the best of my knowlede it is just exposure. It could lead to a run up in price, but exposure is really what this needs. It could be THE validation this material so desperately needs.
I have followed the board for over a year now, bought in about a month ago. Very exciting material. I decided that if I lose the whole wad it will not bother me because this just seems like something that should work, it just makes so much sense in so many applications.
One thing I don't think anyone has touched on since following the board is what you do with the stuff with its useful life is over? I get that the useful life is sold as "forever", but a product eventually becomes dated, or the metal is in shards from an impact as described a while back by a poster who managed to actually break a peice. Every other metal out there can be recycled. Once a bulk metallic glass is formed, can it be re-formed, or re worked. I'm guessing, that yes it can, but not sure if I have ever seen this addressed. Afterall, if all of our greatest desires come to fruition, and this is a material for mass use in many applications, how do we dispose of it when it is finished or becomes broken? What do you do with millions of liquidmetal iphone cases, or iTv cases, when the newer model comes out with newer, prettier, lqmt for example? I guess if you are overly optimistic it is a thought worth considering.
