Perfect!! Can't wait!! I'd much rather see my tax dollars going to this type of informative, open discussion rather than the committee "discussion.". :) Thanks Obit!!
Yes. It should be very useful for our side. It's one more check down the checklist in preparation for release from cship. It's also some good stats to throw at them to insist on an end to the profit sweep. (We shouldn't need stats for that part, since the sweep is illegal anyway!) But if it gets the job done, then number crunch away and bring it to court!
ha ha! Ya don't mess with "a Common patriotic citizen like myself". I got a little feisty after hearing Corker's remarks at the bankers-luncheon right in the middle of all this. :)
Woo hoo! This is our month! All the pieces will finally be coming together!!
Thank you for the highlights! That helps with all these articles. So, Fnf passed the stress test, and we know the courts will end the sweep, and then FnF can cover the "some major disaster part.". So, when are FnF released? Oh...Did I just answer that myself? Do we need to hear that there is at least an injunction on the sweeps?
I'm glad they are trying to speak out. It will be great when this thing finally gets out of c-ship.
You have to have the right amount of independent directors in the right spots on the right committees for uplisting. It may or not be that, but it was nice of Chessmaster to point it out. :)
Thanks Zep! So Kingu1, Ackman is betting on the price going up, not down. His team is known for doing a ton of research. They have probably gone through every scenario, but we all still have to make our own bets. Mine is that J/C is a distraction. The court cases are much further ahead in the race.
You mean Ackman with the swaps? As I understand it yes.
What? Berkowitz owns common and preferred. Does it seem like Ackman would escape over this phony legislation?
Ackman and Berkowitz don't seem worried. They don't even waste their time commenting on CWJC.
I meant the June comment. I thought maybe you had some insider information for June? Another price spike is due mid-May. and then another mid-June. I'm staying locked and loaded for May.
Waste of taxpayers' money. Even if it passes their silly committee that doesn't even all show up for the first scheduled markup on the 29th after their 2 week vacation, it won't go further. Can't they spend their time on some real legislation and not lunches out with the bankers/donors?
inside information?
Is it May yet? :)
I saw estimate May 8th.
Normally if a company is rightfully under conservatorship, they probably wouldn't be meeting the requirements for uplisting. If a company meets the requirements, like hopefully the GSE's do now, their Board of Directors should be applying for uplisting. Berkowitz sent a letter to Fannie's Board about a number of things, one was uplisting. The Board said they have been under conservatorship and report to the FHFA. Since shareholders don't have rights under c-ship either, we have to hire big fancy lawyers and sue all their butts for any of this to get done!! :). I believe the GSE employees themselves have been working hard doing an outstanding job. It's the government's failure to lift c-ship, their unilateral profit sweep, etc that is keeping everything in limbo. That is what I think is the effect of a long almost six year conservatorship!!
I believe it is a matter of meeting requirements, applying and then see if they accept you "into the club". Maybe someone on here can state the pros and cons of NYSE vs Nasdaq? If you're ready to go and apply, it can happen quick or take months. I have a feeling, if we have met the requirements, have doc's in order and apply, it will go quick.
I can't imagine being paid to be a Permabear. Does he have a toast at the end of the year when the market tanks? I prefer good growth stocks with a celebratory toast after they skyrocket. Much more fun!
Can I go to sleep now? :)
But a common clue for uplisting is notifying investors of independent director, committees via 8-k's etc. It may be nothing, but shareholders, attorneys, etc are getting on them about uplist or c-ship, so are we going to see any signs, or do we see nothing?
Hey DT, I have never seen Faber's predictions pan out. I try and listen to everything, but his stuff just doesn't resonate with me? Maybe if he did eat crow once in a while it would help? :)
Thanks
I thought I heard .57, what did you hear Stockprofiter?
Do they say what their estimate for earnings are?
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/sec?s=FNMA+SEC+Filings
Clues can be found keeping an eye on the filings. IMHO Chessmaster pointed out the latest 8-k last night just as I was trying to go to sleep!
You're right Travel5, investors need a little optimism too. Let's get this Fannie up!
Good point. I have not heard of one professor of law that has said "this is a perfectly legal taking according to the constitution of the United States of America" (maybe Venezuela).
Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but I looked at the stress test as one of the many things they may have to show for uplisting or release. 8-k's, stress tests, earnings reports, etc
I'm guessing tomorrow at the earliest and in response to something like stress test, earnings report, gse fees.
They like to play musical chairs, but the music is going to stop sooner than they think this time. :)
Berkowitz asked Fannie board and printed his letter and their response.
and congressmen are exempt from insider trading :)
Yes and we pay his salary and lifetime benefits. :)
Or proof that sweep must end, c-ship must be lifted.
Corker is a buffoon. GSE's have no capital? How much capital would they have if they were only paying the original outrageous 10% dividends? The senators are supposed to be discussing their markup, but instead he's out there wasting our taxpayer dollars to tell lies and promote his cause to a group of bankers. outrageous!!
I'm not a smart one, but just in case you want a dumb person's guess. Ted Olson's team could be filing an injunction, and the money kept in escrow. Whatever Olson is working on, I'm sure it's good! Maybe we'll find out by earnings report.
They need to at least stop the profit sweep today. It's too bad it takes the best attorneys out there and a court order for them to do the right thing.
Great, thank you!
