Amityville Horror does well..
For whatever it may be worth to FMLY, the film did well this weekend. Following are the first few lines from a report I got from the New York Times online after 10 pm this evening (Sunday):
April 17, 2005
'Amityville Horror' Tops Box Office

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - ``The Amityville Horror,' a remake of the popular 1979 haunted house flick and the only film to open in wide release over the April 15-17 weekend, took top honors at the North American box office without much direct competition.
The R-rated film, based on a bestseller by Jay Anson, marked the last wide release managed solely by distributors at MGM, which was acquired two weeks ago by an investor group led by Sony Corp.
It was also the first MGM-produced film since that merger to count as part of Sony Pictures' market share. The film also is a co-production with Miramax's Dimension films.
Starring newcomers Ryan Reynolds and Melissa George, ``The Amityville Horror' raked in $23.3 million, according to box office tracker Exhibitor Relations, about the amount studio executives had expected. Final box office results will be available Monday.
PieMan:
I went to OCT Journal's website and looked throught their archives. I cannot find any mention of FMLY not getting to share in the profits from any success that Amityville Horror might have. Which edition did you read that in?
Amityville Horror
I live outside of Washington D.C. and there has been media play about this film both on the radio and TV. Driving home last night, I heard a review of the film on the all-news radio station. The review was neither good nor bad, he simply said it wasn't any scarier than the original. They did point out, however, that there is a whole new generation that never saw the original. I also saw a TV commerical for the movie. So, now we'll just have to see how the film does. This "could" be the beginning of good things for this company.
Don't have a crystal ball, but it is hard to imagine them not making money on films with such stars as Travolta, M. Freeman, Nick Cage, Bruce Willis in upcoming movies. I'm looking for this stock to make major gains, but not for several months to a year or so from now. I can't guarantee anything, but the overall picture looks good to me.
One successful movie and it'll go into the dollars.
They issued a correction:
The corrected release reads as follows:
VIVA OPENS DOMINICAN SALES OFFICES IN ADVANCE OF PRIOR PLANS AND PREPARES FOR OPERATIONS
Viva International, Inc. (OTCBB:VIVI - News) announced today its subsidiary Viva Air Dominicana, S.A. has officially opened its sales and operations offices in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The sales office location is at 27 de Febrero on the ground floor of the Edificio PJ Building between Churchill and Lincoln and is strategically located adjacent to other major airline carrier sales centers in Santo Domingo. The Dominican offices were opened in advance of its planned March date in response to numerous requests from tour group operators, hoteliers and others seeking to establish and explore potential commercial relationships with Viva. In addition, the office location will double as a training center as the Company begins final phase preparations for the commencement of services.
What's there to say? The company is moving toward profitability and has a number of projects on tap for this year that "could" turn things around big time. It seems to me that it's a wait-and-see proposition at this point. In the meantime, I'm continuing to buy more shares.
I can't say this for sure since I have never been there, but from the way the PR reads it sounds like Santiago is a district/part of Santo Domingo. Sort of like saying something is located in Brooklyn and later saying it is in New York City. At least, that's the way I read it. If anyone knows for sure, please clarify for the rest of us.
Question for longs: Has this company or its predecessor ever gotten this close to going operational with something before?
I wish you guys well. I finally gave up on NNOS and dumped my shares.
I have a few; enough to make a few bucks if the company succeeds, but it's certainly nothing that I'm staking my retirement on.
ZIPTIE: Thanks for your input as well. I'll be keeping a close eye on VIVI. If they really do put planes in the air I'll be happy, but I won't wait long to get out if they start coming up with excuse after excuse as the supposed start-up time of March approaches.
Thanks. I will check it out.
What are you guys talking about when you say that you believe Viva Airlines is a scam? (That's basically what a couple of you are saying). What's the history that makes you think this? I'm not defending VIVI, I just have no idea what you're basing your comments on. Thanks for any info you can share.
Looks like there is a lot of potential for this year and next. Let's hope it translates into success at the box office amd in DVD sales.
This stock could make a run, but I doubt that it will happen before the patent is granted for the talking pill bottle. I think that will be the catalyst for a run. Of course, if the CEO dumps a few billion more shares onto the market before then we could all be screwed. Hopefully, he'll have the foresight to wait until the PPS makes a good move forward before doing that again. JMHO
I'm hoping that once the company is profitable, they will do a buyback. At the least, that would preserve the PPS and would most likely give it a boost upwards. Since top management holds a lot of the stock, I hope they will see how this would benefit them better than a R/S.
Who can say when a good time to buy is? You can only look at the signs and make your best educated guess. One thing to do is look at the company's financials. The latest report was just issued today. Check it out at http://finance.yahoo.com/q/is?s=ivoc.ob
You will notice that the company is moving closer to profitability. If that trend continues and profits come, then the PPS should rise. If, however, something goes south and the company begins to lose more money then don't look for any rise in the PPS.
Well, I have no crystal ball, but the pps appears to be holding in this range. This can only be a good omen.
This stock has bounced back and forth between .0006-.0007 for quite a while. There are some who believe that the fact that the stock hasn't fallen below that level portends good things for the not so distant future while others doubt that there will be any significant movement in pps until either 1. the patent for the talking pill bottle is granted, or 2. some progress is made in marketing their "Here I Am" technology for which the patent was granted a few months ago.
It's nice to see something happening with NNOS. None of us knows the future, but these latest management moves give me hope. I, too, would love to see a return to the bulletin boards -- preferably as the beginning of an eventual move to one of the big boards.
Here's the latest PR. Note that Scott Ervin is still listed as CEO and is the one who put it out.
http://biz.yahoo.com/e/041124/nnos.pk8-k.html
I, for one, still have my shares but see nothing much to write about. As for an email address, they don't give one on their website. Makes a person wonder why. Why would they want to discourage correspondence from shareholders? At the least, it seems to show utter comtempt for the shareholders. Many people on other boards in particular say this company is a total scam. I don't know, but it certainly is not encouraging when a company consistently fails to produce year after year and then shows contempt for the shareholders.
The last couple of days have been good for FLYI shareholders. Looks like people are starting to believe.
I'd like to see them get out of the pinks and back on the bulletin board. Eventually, I'd like to see them off the bulletin board and on a major index, but that's a long way off.
Anyone on I-Hub following FLYI?
I agree, there's no point in selling now. What I hold isn't worth that much. Hey, if the Boston RedSox can win a World Series, anything is possible!
What you're saying about a PR if a CEO is fired is true for companies listed on the major exchanges, even the bulletin boards. But, is it true for a company on the pink sheets? I don't know the details, but I know that a lot of the normal rules don't apply to companies on the pinks.
I wasn't angry with you, Jimmy. Just wanted to clarify who I am.
Wow, Jimmy, are you ever off base! I (Irv) am a 54 year old civil servant who finally has all the kids out of college and now have some money to use in trying my hand at investing. I'm fairly new to this, but I did manage to make a few bucks last year; all of which went towards my daughter's wedding in April.
I'm not from Missouri, but I say: talk is cheap, show me!
I don't have a long history as an ADOT shareholder but based on what I have read on ragingbull, the biggest complaint about ADOT seems to be they have a track record of big talk and very little action. As I said previously, if I don't see something happening by the end of this year, I'll have to re-evaluate my situation.
As far as I know, the figures you cite are correct. This is a very strange company. On their website, they don't even provide an email address for info for investors.
The company hasn't given us anything to be excited about. There has been no news of any positive developments lately. Their website says delivery of some units is scheduled for late this year. Well, it's October so it should be clear soon whether or not this company can be believed. I'll hold my shares until the end of the year. If there is nothing positive by then, I'll have to re-evaluate.
I think the thing that is going to make this stock move is profits. They have patents and patents pending currently, but are not generating a profit yet. I believe that profits will come within the next few months as products are sold or licensed and more patents are approved. Until then, patience is the keyword.
Do you know how many shares are currently authorized? How much of an increase would this mean? Obviously, there will be dilution.
This company has been busy lately getting things lined up for the future. I think that if any of their products will make it big, it will be the talking pill bottles. Of course, having the FDA involved enusures that this will not be a fast-moving process. Nothing the FDA is involved in progresses quickly. However, I do think there is tremendous worldwide potential for this product, especialy considering how high the level of illiteracy is in many third world countries. I also like the fact that they are planning to license their technology rather than try to bring it all to market themselves. Licensing was the secret to Microsoft's success while Apple, which tried to keep everything proprietary, enjoyed much less success. If you're looking for a quick run up in pps, this is probably not the stock to have. But if you're willing to hold for 2-3 years, I think you'll be very handsomely rewarded. In the meantime, I plan to keep buying more shares.
Did anyone note in the latest press release that it says they think that after the takeover the company will be in a position to apply for an AMEX listing? I'm a bit surprised that no one has commented on that so far.
The big PR will come when it comes. Daily speculation does nothing but help you develop an ulcher.
Haven't given up, but I think folks are in a wait-and-see mode.
Sounds good and I hope it's all true, but what are these rumors based on?
