Quite an overreaction.
I think it's a combination of our numbers (which we get punished for regardless of content, every time, without fail) and that some dumbass just fired an intercontinental ballistic missile to flex on the rest of the world. Every other airline is down 2.5%+ too
To anyone else that wanted to read this, I had to edit the URL to make it work. Good stuff even though it's old news:

I highly doubt that. He doesn't make play less than a year or more
This was a refreshing turn of events from what we normally see.
CLASSIC
this is insane
Lmao perfect use.
lmao please help us! The bigger loss you sell it for the better the benefit will be for mankind haha
Ok, a touch of hyperbole, but the basic idea holds up. Why risk it when the laws seem to be so fluid that they can change at the drop of a hat? I have Iranian friends that I've seen this happen to firsthand as U.S. citizens.
But getting back to it. I'm sure some of this is attributable to the current snow that's smacking the midwest and east coast. But it doesn't account for the 10% slide we've seen in the last week or two.
True, that's not the effect it's having though. It's chilling the entire world on travel to the U.S. Nobody from other countries wants to risk visiting on the slight chance they will be illegally detained. Look at all the legal U.S. citizens that have been questioned and/or detained unlawfully. Why risk it?
Ya that'd be nice. Just gotta figure out how to actually do that.
Trump screwed us. I mean everybody, not just us, but especially us. This travel ban bs is wreaking havok.
Ah well short term, perhaps. I take Mr. Buffett's philosophy and invest in long-term companies that are poised to continue strong growth and that know how to make money. This is what I see in Netflix. Still kick myself for not jumping in long ago when Reed tanked the company when he tried to split streaming from DVD.
I'd love to hear your case for NFLX heading bearish. Because from where I'm standing, every single person I know has Netflix with zero intention, not an inkling, of getting rid of it. Domestic subscribers still somehow growing more than they anticipated, international growth is exploding, they're in what, 130 countries now? Can't stop this train. Getting major hollywood players on board for premieres and fresh releases like Scorsese. Tons of nominations and a few wins already at awards shows over last 2 years. Dumping production money into huge projects. They're going to suffocate HBO, Showtime, and have already started chewing through cable subscribers.
This is merely base camp my friend. Netflix has one of the most solid business structures around with a very smart CEO at the helm. Made some mistakes, learned from them, surrounds himself with smart people.
lol no I believe you are incorrect.
Ya I'd say it's the vocal minority as always. I think there's a hell of a lot more people exited for a Scorsese film and Louie CK stand ups
I don't think most people care
Why is this down with Scorsese announcing his next film will be released (produced?) by Netflix? And Louis CK announced he just signed a two stand-up deal with them too.
Because the audio and video quality is much better (read: perfect every time), the interface is way nicer, and you don't have to go hunting for a better rip (dvdrip, cam, brrip, dvdscr).
It's just a pain in the ass. I use Netflix or Amazon whenever I can before resorting to any 3rd party streaming site
No, you're right, I'm in agreement. But it is a legally gray area
It's not legal to stream from places that have uploaded illegal material. I suppose it's a legal gray area since it's not redistribution and you're not the one doing the public exhibition.
yes, spread that around, thank you.
*sarcasm*
I'm sure he bends plenty of ears wherever he drops his cash. I mean he just took control of almost 9% of American Airlines!!
Agreed. Like I said, I still have Netflix and Amazon Prime. It's pretty much required at this point.
Thanks, I'll check it out. I just hate how bad it looks. I was expecting something a little closer to a nice media app where you've got tiles to scroll through.
So I just installed Kodi on my Amazon fire stick last night. I'm pretty excited about it, but it was about a 6.5/10 on a technical level to get it done. I don't think 90% of people would even consider trying to do it. Also, as great as it is to have access to everything, the formatting/look/feel of the app is terrible. Netflix is the iPod of streaming shows and movies. It's so clean and perfect and fast. Easily one of the best looking websites and apps out there. Don't see any legitimate concern from set top boxes eating into this behemoth.
But they're not technically legal right? Most people won't go that far out of their way to break the law. Especially considering how cheap Netlix and Amazon Prime are already. In the domestic market I think they're pretty much tapped out too, but that just means they've already experienced success here. Just about every single person I've ever met either has a Netflix account or is on someone else's account. Which has always been a concern for me with Netflix stock.
Yeah, that's the whole net neutrality premise. They won't get away with that. P/E has so little bearing on tech companies like this. They can trade at 1000x multiples and still run.
Classic AAL! Pulling us all back in for the foreseeable future. Bastards love our dead money too much...
So what was it this time? Buybacks are continuing and debt service isn't changing? Love it
DirectTV is going to have bandwidth issues more than any cable provider ever could. They're satellite, you can't just launch more satellite to increase your number of simultaneous connections as the existing ones get bogged down by higher bandwidth and more subscribers. Cable would win out in that argument. But regardless, the only time people want live tv is for this political shit show, the super bowl, the finals, other sports games, etc. That's the only reason.
NOBODY wants live tv. Think about the massive, collective, sigh of relief when we first got TIVOs and DVRs. They allowed us to schedule our lives and, for many people most importantly, got rid of commercials. I watch live tv maybe once a month. My money goes to Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Wow, nobody's got anything to say on this drop? Board is dead here. They hit their numbers but of course the analysts wanted more.
Haha thanks. I had about 6% of downside protection built in as I hopped in at $123
lmao alright. Have fun on this ride. Looking good right now, but I hope you lose your shirt because you're stupid and unhelpful.
What a vastly different experience on this board than most of the other IHUB boards...
