sorry for the late reply (don't follow on IHUB much lately). Darn it. I was wondering how you were getting along with the 8 million bells and whistles at think or swim. I certainly don't care for it either, the only thing right now I use it for is premarket scans (for big tanking stocks), and for CNBC Asia Television (rarely).
I've been using the fidelity active pro, which is all i need. Just real time streaming watchlist quotes. I don't trade through the platform, i go on to the web-based broker website, so for me, it's just fine. Still wish I had Streetsmart Edge from Schwab though.
Somehow I'm less than surprised about E*Trade phasing out their E*Trade Pro platform. I'm sure at the same time, they will introduce new fees lol
All the best
baby steps lol. good, sound like he was able to clean a few things up.
Yeah, I never liked the "mark" as current price term. Last is also the current price, however, you need to view "mark" and also "mark % Change" to reflect the accurate pre-market and after-market price and % change. So make sure you use them both (Mark and Mark % Change) on your watchlists and quotes etc.
During regular market hours, Mark and Mark % change show the same exact value Last and % Change ( unnecessarily confusing)
Hope you can eventually navigate through all the bells and whistles
Is this answer approached what you wanted? as far as linking stock symbols? (see picture below and the last answer)
I think color coding stock symbols might be what you want to investigate.
Reddit is an awesome resource for answers with ThinkorSwim (or any other platform)
You don't need an account to search for answers, but I would sign up so you can ask specific questions.

One way to look up other stocks that are not in your portfolio, is to open ("detach") a separate window inside Think or Swim
If say, for instance, you want to bring up a chart of a stock, with Time/Sales data, I have a detached window for that in tos.
(and please understand, I really don't know Think or Swim at all well, I'm using Fidelity Active Trader Pro now),
But you could click on the "Charts" tab, (picture below) then click this pull-down menu (red arrow). Choose Detach. A separate window will open. I just keep that separate window open all the time, to see charts, prices etc of other stocks from my positions, or watch lists.
sorry for the late reply, it's a busy day for me
Yes, I think you do have to log into theschwab.com web page. I believe it's independent from the thinkorswim platform.
For CNBC TV, on the left side, at the bottom, click the PLUS sign,
Then choose Trader TV. Default will be Schwab Network but there is a drag-down menu in which you can choose CNBC
I'm not sure about the last 2 questions. Let me investigate some. I don't think I ever linked boxes with shapes in Streetsmart edge.
===========================================
ugh. yes, You can log into the web-based Schwab account and sell them that way. Not much comfort I'm sure.
Go to positions, There is a little drop down menu just to the right of the stock symbol. Pull down that menu and choose sell all shares.
A "Snap ticket" pops up on the right. Go down to Cost basis method. Click on the "first in, first out" link (that's what my default is).
Scroll down to "Specified Lots"
It should show every lot of shares, and the purchase date. You can input the amount of each lot you wish to sell
EDIT: BY THE WAY, my StreetSmartEdge platform is still working this morning, although they said it would be disabled August 9. lol.
lol. I didn't know Etrade had overnight trading. I rarely use them anymore.
Robinhood has had overnight trading for some time. I guess if you have a very very large position in a stock, and some breaking news happens in the late evening, you may want to exit (or buy more) before most other people can move on it.
I don't have large enough positions to care lol, and yes, I need to recharge the batteries at a certain point after the market closes.
I can't imagine people glued to their screens watching crazy crypto moves all night long
Vanguard is all screwy today. And CNBC reported that some Schwab customers are having trouble logging in, although so far, my Schwab seems to be ok.
What a day to have more technical issues
oh jeez. I swear I looked there, but it didn't seem like it was live. Just video clips. I will check it out tonight. Thanks 😊
On a market day like today, I hope you find some good bouncers, rather than ker-splatters.
I also just found a Youtube Channel that is streaming CNBC Asia, and it is live. Not sure if it streams all the time, but it's another outlet
www.youtube.com/watch?v=P857H4ej-MQ&ab_channel=CNBC-TV18
Does anyone know of a way to watch CNBC Asia live? Schwab Streetsmart Edge currently has the ability to stream CNBC, and you can choose CNBC America, CNBC Europe, and CNBC Asia streams. However, since StreetSmart Edge is going away, I don't know of another way to watch it.
Sometimes, especially when the market has been falling, or spiking (or whatever), I like to watch the live ASIA stream of CNBC in the evenings, to show what is currently going on in the markets, and see what is anticipated for the next morning. Many guests are American investors, analysts etc.
EDIT: Schwab's Think or Swim platform DOES have CNBC (America, Europe, and Asia) 😃
I searched, but didn't find it initially.
You have to open a new "gadget" then click on "Trader TV". It defaulted to Shwab Network, so I thought that is all you get, but there is a drop down list, and you can choose CNBC streams. Cool
I still use Think or Swim, mostly for scanning stocks that are down (at least 20% etc), or premarket most declined. Also for watching my stocks premarket (before 7 am......Fidelity Active Pro does not show the extended hours data until 7 am, because that's when Fidelity's premarket trading starts).
One place I get feedback with Technical questions (on Think or Swim, or Fidelity Active Pro etc) is Reddit.
https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkorswim/new/
Usually, you will get an answer fairly quickly. Good luck! 👍️
Well, Schwab StreetSmart Edge is finally history. I have actually found that Fidelity Active Trader Pro is the best platform for me now rather than Think or Swim. It actually has a few features I like that StreetSmart Edge did not have.
I only use the platform for real-time streaming watch lists, so I don't need the 8000 bells and whistles for charting, trading etc. That Think or Swim has.
I hope you are navigating through Think or Swim ok, but I believe you were using Etrade Pro for your trading anyway?
EDIT: I've noticed I can't transfer funds within Schwab accounts this morning, possibly due to the global Crowdstrike IT outage? 🤔
It's working now. StreetsmartEdge and Schwab.com and ThinkorSwim. AI got frustrated and threw a tantrum 🤔
I can. I was complaining that Yahoo Finance offers free quotes, but I can't get realtime quotes at Etrade.
But I don't just want quotes, I want realtime streaming watchlist. No biggie, I can watch things at Fidelity.
I can't use power Etrade because, of course, they have delayed quotes lol. Even Yahoo Finance website has free realtime quotes, but me as a customer for years can't get realtime quotes, I don't have enough funds in the broker apparently. Stupid
hmm. Still not working for me. It was working earlier this morning just fine. I'm not the only one, plenty of people on Reddit are complaining they can't get into ThinkorSwim
Think or Swim platform AND Streetsmart Edge are both currently down. 🙄
oh, that's right. Forgot about that. I had both Schwab and TD Ameritrade accounts all along, so I can log in now, I just don't like it lol.
I haven't been playing with Think or Swim at all lately lol. Gonna be a rude awakening. I guess I'll start using it each week now (just a little).
Holy Shit stain.........ok, I'm in! .059
Etrade still down for me. jeez. I'm glad I never use them 🙄
seems like Etrade is down, or not functioning properly. Nice timing right at market open
Apparently "Meme" stocks are back this morning. GME up 45%, AMC up 17%, all because someone on X called RoaringKitty posted something? I guess I'm behind the times or something, but it will be interesting to watch.

Hi there! Hope your investments are holding up. I rarely do "bounce" plays, intra-day flips anymore.........mostly because I suck Aardvark Ass at it lol.
Of course, my longer-term holds aren't great either. If I just took all my money, and sunk it into the SPY, I'd probably be ahead more lol, but I guess it's more fun "investing" in highly-volatile MEME stocks. Mostly small cap stocks that will do well when interest rates are getting cut, but are destroyed otherwise.
Couple of the risky longterm stocks I've been holding:
UPST, PSNL, SE, ML, TWLO, SNAP, PATH, CHWY, SQ, OPEN, EH, STNE, IRBT
Basically, just mindless gambling, no different than me playing Blackjack (and getting destroyed lol)
All the best 👍️

I would say Fidelity. Commission free to buy them, unlike Etrade or Schwab
Awesome! I think the clouds add another dimension to the photo. It almost looks like a nighttime image of the moon, but you can see blue sky breaking through the clouds.
ha! that's a crazy story. Politicians are the same all over the world.
DJT now in the $70s. Why didn't I grab some in the $40s? 🤒
I Want One!! Star Trek TOS Enterprise Bridge Coffee Table....
Stock DJT: Starts trading tomorrow. I wonder what kind of Meme-stock move this might bring...
DWAC up 16% and rising now edit: 23%
