JB, you have been on fire this week.
I picked a bad week to not check in on OM.
Lesson learned...
I am there with you. Apparently I am still not ready to trade with real funds.
Figure if I can't make money on a day like today, when will I be able to.
Best of luck to you on your AAPL calls. Maybe there will be some really good jobs numbers that can help sustain the rally a little longer.
I agree with the eventually $400, but when is that?
I have changed from holding over night to just playing momentum on the day. Has worked out so far.
Best of luck with your $495 puts.
Wow, would have been quite a nice play this week.
It was a good look at the 720's.
Great call on AAPL yesterday. Should have taken a dip with you, imagine those paid of nicely for you.
Nice call again today. Saw you post off of the 260 area, should have followed. Not sure what caused that surge, but best of luck going into tomorrow. See if it can hold the 20 MA this time...
Nice grab so far.
Thanks again for posting this week. Made a trade yesterday with my real account. Small position in GOOG, waited until after all the politicians talked and grabbed some 695 calls. Took them from a $1 to $2.
Will be interesting to see where they take the market next week, I can see where they may want to do what you brought up regarding Christmas bonuses, although I imagine they would need to get some sort of decent Political news to get it over 142.50 on the SPY?
Looking forward to continuing my path with options and appreciate what you, JB, UPB, RMM, aznboi, and all the others that share their ideas and knowledge. I see you post a lot about stocktwits and you posting on it, do you mind sharing your handle so I can read some of your posts their as well.
Have a nice weekend.
I papered the AMZN play today. Didn't get the exact bottom, but made some more fake money...
It would be nice to see some moves like that on a Friday.
This may come to fruition. The politicians did all they could to bring the market down, although I am buying into your Chistmas bonus idea.
Should make for an interesting next couple of weeks.
Thanks for the response, I am creating my list of stocks to trade over and over...
Was watching it and papered it on the break of $646 since you and others had mentioned that as resistance.
My paper account is going to look real good this week. Now to figure how to do it with real money...
I believe Obama talks at 11:30, something may come from that...
Any more news on settlement? I will check my feeds now. Thanks
Thanks for the article Mikey, I saw the AAPL Nov 30 last Wednesday and figured they adjusted it for Thanksgiving. This makes more sense then my rationale.
True UPB, though I was to new to understand what it meant. If only I knew then what I have begun to understand...
Thanks for your help over this weekend. Just papertraded today and got in AAPL 585C at the open for $4.50 sold out of the paper trade at $7.80.
Was just trying to put the MA support/resistance help that you supplied to work. Didn't know it would work so well, should have used actual money, but still learning.
Thanks again for your help and for the others on here that help.
I will paper trade the rest of the year as I need to understand this better before I get back into it. Looking for AAPL to open just below the 200MA some time this week and then I will get in a put at that point in time.
Some great calls today, you have had a really nice streak these last couple weeks since I have been paying attention to your calls.
Again, thanks for another tool I can use.
In the Google chart it is amazing how clear it is that it bounced off the 200 MA and then was held under the 20.
Been reading all your posts over the weekend, thanks for the news feeds as well as the other charts. Will be interesting to see if the current run continues or if all the charts you have been showing that are running into a MA fade.
Can't wait for this coming week and to paper trade, seeing how what you have been posting here for months just finally clicked over the weekend.
There is much I have to still learn, but I am going to start with AAPL, PCLN, GOOG, AMZN, and then move onto the best of class stocks that you constantly reference.
Hopefully one day I can do this and garner 30 - 40% of the profits you do. You constantly make it sound easy.
Again thanks for the lesson. I really appreciate it. I now see what you are talking about, still working on putting it all together.
The next and probably biggest hurdle is watching and understanding the daily price action. I have been watching the 1 minute 3 minute and 5 minute, still figuring out how to put it all together.
I am starting to see how these stocks like to use the 20, 50, 200 MA as support and or resistance. Quite a week to get an education it. Almost textbook seeing all the different stocks that you have pointed out that have bounced off of one of these levels.
Soon enough I will put these last couple of weeks of just paper trading (except for some earnings plays) to work. Will be interesting to see how the market handles EU not coming to a budget agreement and the "Fiscal Cliff"
Again thanks for the response Madrose, have a great weekend.
Gap up Monday?
Good call off of 558 Wednesday.
As usual had the R pegged on the SPY and the others you were in and out of today.
On another note and not that it much matters but any idea why it has gone to 139.81 AH, make anything of it or just some bulls having some fun before the day off?
Thanks again for posting and helping us new folks learn, have a great Thanksgiving if you celebrate it.
I appreciated the call, I hopped out of it way to early as I thought the over sold bounce may happen sooner then it did. Then I didn't get in on the bounce, oh well.
I have learned quite a bit from many who post here, I appreciate when folks post their ideas.
Have a great Thanksgiving.
Great call, wish I had grabbed some lottos.
I am not big on the purchase, don't have a lot of capitol. Most I have paid is $10 most I have made is $15.
Madrose,
so in the same vain, if VRNG gets any sort of pop, fade it? It is a stock I have been following but haven't played other then JB talking about it. Not sure it will become a VHC, but it seems as if some day it may, it has some pretty interesting patents and depending on the Google ruling.... Who knows.
I am going to follow you and your trades more closely and just study what it is you post and see. I need to work on a scanner for these trade alerts I think.
thanks again.
Thanks for the reply. I am just getting started with trading and have learned a lot from you and others on this board. Now I am working on deciphering what the news actually means and how the market may interpret it.
I got in on AAPL puts the Monday the iPad mini sales were reported and blew away expectations but didn't move the stock as much as I thought it should. Of course I got out of the trade to early, but first trade I did "on my own" so felt good getting it right.
As usual a great call madrose, still trying to wrap my head around all that you see and how quickly you react to it. Wish I would have been following you better when you made that AAPL call back in September. It was around that time you stopped posting here on OM and forgot to just follow you, won't make that same mistake twice though.
Unfortunately I bought into the hype of AAPL at the time and got some Dec 720 calls, sold out of them a week later as it dawned on me it was the wrong move. Had I gotten puts instead in the same OTM position they would have been worth $12k per contract yesterday. Still learning and appreciate the help and education that you are providing.
That is amazing, you are the puppet master of AAPL.
Read your post about buying the dip and by the time I was able to react figured I missed an opportunity to get in (509). Then it decides to go another $20 or so.
Thanks for posting your entries, helps me attempt to see why you act when you do. Although on the $506 bounce, was that a support or just so oversold that it bounced?
And no rush on answering, I know you are trading so whenever you get a moment I appreciate it.
Well done Mikey!
For those technical folks, do the bulls try to keep it above the $520 low from May or is that not relevant any more?
You and me both, picked up some 515s on the initial pop. 1.50 sold out at 3.30 when it started it's ascent back up to to 220. Don't even want to look now.
Great call on AAPL. Was to busy with work to feel comfortable with placing any options and not able to watch them. It has been three great Fridays of option plays. GOOG two weeks ago, AAPL last week, and then AAPL this week.
Hoping for a similar opportunity next Friday.
Thanks for the explanation, that is what I was thinking, but nice to see others thoughts on why.
