Apple may be forced to use the LQMT hook like security feature to protect their devices in such a way that the data is destroyed upon physically accessing the internal components of the device.
The government may force Apple to use Liquidmetal fasteners!
Planet was supposed to say "company". I was referring to Apple. Apple is not stupid enough to make Tom privy to much. Tom is in a "need to know" capacity.
I still agree with Gorgol on one thing. If Apple uses this, it will be in a big way. Atakan Peker suggested the same thing when the rights to LQMT were purchased.
Will we go to dollar land? I don't know! Will we go bankrupt before that can happen? I don't know!
Steipp knows a lot he is unable to talk about and there is also a lot he does not know. Hopefully what he doesn't know is good news. I can assure you of one thing. He does not know how far along Apple is in the research and development. You don't become the most successful planet in the world if you're stupid.
Apple NEEDS to use Liquidmetal to achieve margin expansion and to become more efficient! We are closer to that reality than we were yesterday!
Gamesc,
Yes, please stay on this board. Your posts are helpful and cut through the fog. Please stick around and post when you see parents, etc!
New Liquidmetal patent on Apple Insider
Patent # 9,254,521
I made an investment and it may turn out bad. But as the head of a public company, he should be as transparent as possible. He missed his own timeline for the past 5 years..
How many years does it take to get it accurate?
Regardless, Tom Steipp is steering this ship and he should have made more accurate projections. For that, he's a huge piece of shit.
How expensive is hafnium compared to titanium?
Is it a coincidence that they are both gone?
This is going to get interesting!
The reality is that we are running out of money. The other reality is that they are finding more practical applications for Liquidmetal. Hopefully we get one good contract to kick start the flow of additional contracts. We need decision makers to know about Liquidmetal.
AKA: the type of people who buy Martin Guitars, cars made in Stuttgart, Omega watches and guys who use Apple in corporate America. If Apple announces anything with Liquidmetal, this will have an instant change of fortunes.
Clearly you don't know what Martin's pins look like. It's ok! They are right there.
On Liquidmetal website under products section... There is a photo of the bridge pins for the Martin Guitars. They are lined up in rows of six. That leads me to believe that these are produced from one shot of LQMT. So each Martin guitar which has six strings can use one small rid of Liquidmetal which probably costs $10 per guitar.
If Martin used it for 65,000 guitars per year, that will cover almost 65% of Tom's salary! LOL
High tension strings that don't break are worth $100.
Changing strings is a huge pain in the ass
Martin made 67,000 guitars in 2010
Gorgol,
I am still in this stock because I believe in Apple. Atakan Peker said it would take around 6 years and $500 million dollars of research and investment to get this off the ground. If he was correct, then the time is now. The original MTA was signed in 08/2010 I believe.
Anyway, this stock could go either way. Either we pop corks or we get therapy. It shall be interesting how this year turns out. More than anything, I wish we would sign a military contract!
Due to its amorphous atomic structure and precise injection molding process, Liquidmetal mirrors are able to deliver optical surfaces without distortion or reflective interference from crystalline grains. Liquidmetal mirrors also have the unique capability to be subsequently hot-formed into a more complex shapes and surfaces.
"Apple is still seeking further acquisitions in optical technologies to enable it to complete its project".
I wonder if there is a connection between Apple optics and Liquidmetal..
Where do we have proof that Apple chose Steipp?
Per Patentlyapple.com, Daimler CEO is having "concrete talks with Google and Apple after seeing that they are far more advanced than previously thought!
This is happening folks!! It's just a matter of time
Seriously,
Make Stephen Zadesky the CEO of Liquidmetal and let him go play with it. God knows he is a workaholic and would be able to come up with all kinds of cool uses for it.
With his knowledge of the alloy and all the parents he is a part of, he would be able to capitalize on it if it blew up in non-CE.
I'd say that would be quite the "personal reason". Why did you leave Apple?? Because I wanted the opportunity to be a billionaire. LOL.
But we all know that isn't going to happen. I just want to get rid of the dead weight.
Well, it makes sense. You're not going to invite 200 strangers to see what they think.
You are going to invite 200 people who were suitable candidates and whom have already requested a quote!
WHAT IF:
Many of the companies that requested Quotes last year weren't ready to do business with a company that didn't have its ISO Certification and wanted a dedicated mold maker that could handle te pent up demand for Liquidmetal if they could scale..
So that top 200 prospects invited to the Engel/Liquidmetal Symposium are now going to sign up as we have Saga making molds, Materion procuring alloy, Engel's expert manufacturing and Liquidmetal just collects a royalty or ongoing license and payment for each Engel/Liquidmetal machine sold.
That would give us a lot of orders this year. If Conextions is confident enough to use Liquidmetal inside of the body, then we may soon start seeing it used to replace titanium heart stents and titanium tooth implant posts.
We could quickly become a different company. Then Tom Steipp will get to gloat all the way to the bank but I won't give a damn because I will also be smiling big.
Liquidmetal Technologies Receives 2016 Production Contract
Gamesc,
How much will this reduce the cycle time?
He needs to be brutally publicly shamed on the next conference call. Skewer him with a question like this:
Hey Tom, thank you for taking my call. I've been invested in Liquidmetal since late 2010 and have listened to every conference call. You have repeatedly missed self imposed deadlines, greatly expanded the number of employees on payroll and have received more than 900 requests for quotes with no contracts for mass production.
Last year, you arrogantly requested a one million dollar raise. What do you do all day and when can you commit to having a mass-production contract that leads to significant orders and revenues!
He would end the call immediately and look like a total fraud!
Couldn't they just make the Apple logo on the back of the iPhone like this. Then it would have a window that is radio frequency transparent but that appears metal like while maintaining the strength of Liquidmetal as a frame..
The scanner is an electronic device but not a "consumer" electronic device. It's more for commercial applications
I went to a dental appointment today. On the television screen that plays a long video loop of services rendered, they discussed titanium posts that are used in implants and also an interlock into posts for permanent crowns!
This would be an amazing opportunity for Liquidmetal to capitalize on if LQMT passes the biovompatibility tests.
I just saw an interview about Engel. 40% of their business in 2013 was automotive. Their clients are focused on light weight innovative applications!
The Engel event this month takes place in Stuttgart. This is home to Porsche! Porsche is also one of the most innovative automotive companies on the planet. Hopefully they will have local representatives on site.
Lastly, Atakan Peker stated that Apple will use Liquidmetal in a revolutionary product. Hopefully this is the iPhone, Watch or an Apple Car. Honestly, I think that Apple may purchase Tesla as it would have a dual benefit of not only automotive manufacturing expertise and a premium brand, but also their energy technology.
Trust me, I hope for more than $0.20/share.. But at this point in my life, if this hits $0.20 per share again, I can achieve a monumental short term goal. So if it hits $0.20 / share again, I'm out. I would be elated to hit $0.30/share. So whether they become a successful business, Apple purchases them, or they sign a few multi million dollar contracts and we jump (I could care less)
Just give me $0.20/ share minimum.. I'm ok with that.
That makes sense. You're probably right.
Then here is a follow up question. What do you think Apple would omit for confidentiality reasons? I wish we could read the full, unredacted agreement..
I wish Anonymous could research the original agreement and post it online
RE: licenses:
A license is an agreement by which the owner (the licensor) of something (in the case of the LinkedIn question, a trademark) grants, to someone else (the licensee), rights that are less that all of the rights to that thing. “Licensing 101“, and the download to which it refers, provide basic information about licensing.
A sublicense agreement is an agreement by which the licensee (as sublicensor) grants to someone else (as sublicensee) some of the licensee’s rights. If permitted by the original license agreement, there may be multiple tiers of sublicensees.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There were parts of the MTA that were omitted for confidentiality reasons. Some of these terms could have been the sub-licensee rights. A sub license agreement does not necessarily extend all rights that the licensee has. It may only extend SOME of them.
The specific rights to the sublicensee that were described in detail in a previous post are very precise.
Nowhere in this data does it state that the sub licensee will not have to pay a royalty or that if they procure Engel machines, that there will not be a pass through from the sub-licensee to LMT.
Read: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royalties
Yeah.. Answer me this. Has Tom Steipp EVER told the truth or is he full of shit.
I'd say that Tom is not allowed to talk about Apple at all. Just like Volkswagen was not allowed to show wireless Car Play at CES.
We are all totally in the dark!!!
It sucks but it could be great when they finally turn on the lights. Or it could be a nightmare. Only time will tell!
Where does it say that in the MTA. Show that to me in writing. These contracts are precise.
I'm not sure that you are correct but will gladly agree once you prove it by referencing the contract
Tesla is not a competitor until Apple announces!
Catcher is their manufacturing partner
The MTA gives Apple the worldwide perpetual rights to Liquidmetal for Consumer Electronics.
LQMT has always said they will make zero dollars from Apple. What I have always wondered is whether that right extends to Apple's suppliers. So, if Catcher Technology is hired by Apple to make Liquidmetal cases, and Catcher must procure Liquidmetal in massive quantities or make Liquidmetal via the patented formula, then does Liquidmetal get a royalty payment from Catcher Technology?
That was always my hope. Just because Apple has unrestricted rights does NOT mean that Catcher has unrestricted rights!
This is what I am wondering!!!
RG,
I believe LQMT requires apple's permission for anything that could be CE related. Suppose Tesla approaches LQMT and pursues making a shield for their batteries. LQMT can proceed with that without Apple's permission as Apple has not "announced" they are making a car and a car is not a consumer electronic device.
If LQMT wants to make canards for Lockheed Martin, they can because a middle is not a consumer electronics device.
If Apple decides to turn on the oxygen sensors in the Apple Watch, then it may require FDA approval. Does that make it a medical device??? That, I don't know!!!
Good questions and thanks for making us all think. I hope Apple sees value in our alloy for automotive and buys our company for that purpose. I also think LQMT would be a great frame for the iPhone and material for the watch face.
Jolly,
"Consumer Electronic Products" shall not include:
That is plain English. As these are NOT Consumer Electronics, I do not believe that LQMT would be in any violation. Apple did NOT buy LQMT, they only bought the rights to Consumer Electronics. If Apple decides to pursue other categories, they will probably just buy the company LQMT for peanuts.
Jolly,
You got me on that one..
But regarding the prior posts... The AppleWatch is NOT a medical device, which is why you don't need to clear it with medical compliance. They left out many sensors for that purpose..
Section 21,
These are excluded items
(iii)
products or components thereof that are not the same as or similar to any Apple product (regardless of when Apple sold or started to sell such product, including after the Closing Date) or component of any Apple product and that are made solely for, and sold solely into, the defense/military, automotive, medical, or industrial markets.
