I'm with Watts. Steipp hasn't accomplished shit.
But Apple does run the show. Liquidmetal is hoping Apple uses it and commercializes the term amorphous. It legitimizes them. Then other companies in other industries will follow.
Maybe this is all part of the plan. If it hits $0.60 in the fiture, I'm very happy about it. I'll then leave for good
Engel Beefs Up Design & Production of Screws

I expect a Press Release after the close...
Gorgol could only afford 51 shares. HEHE.
Kidding!
Nothing will happen Tuesday. We must wait till next September!
Li has a different formula that works in Engel machines and that can be used for larger parts. His alloy is cheaper.
He gets access to LQMT for non-Europe and non-US market and only for non-CE and non-military defense.
I believe Liquidmetal does have a lot of interested customer but the cost is prohibitive. If we get access to Luger Li'a alloy, then we can offer it to the European and American companies. Western products are luxury while Asian products are typically cheap alternatives.
We retain access to premium markets and premium companies who solely manufacture in China and get access to scalable manufacturing operations and the declining cost coefficient. Long term (20+ years from now) we lose, but short term we win in a major way!
We lose long term as the US only makes up like 3.4% of the global population while China and India make up like 30%. As they rise up, they will take a large amount of market share. The problem they will have is that as they replace their employable work force with robots, companies like Apple may decide to build robots of their own and bring back manufacturing and assembly to America. If that EVER happens, China will find themselves a slave economy as they will lose both manufacturing, find the masses unemployable and will became a welfare state with a much higher population to support.
I for one am counting on a very large Asian millennial population in 20 years to pay me a lot to live in my rental properties and essentially fund my lifestyle and support my future children. If Liquidmetal hits $0.60 within the next 12 months, I will have over $700k to invest in Tesla and the future of energy/automotive.
By the way, I'm 30. You must think about the future to see where everything is headed!
Hauck is not the problem. The problem is the alloy is too expensive to have any value as nobody is willing to pay for it. As soon as the cost falls to the point where it creates a compelling value proposition, then you may see mass adoption or at least some traction.
Hauck has relationships but he can't create demand!
gorgol,
Li may have needed access to the patents. It does not guarantee he will use the alloy. Maybe he was unable to bring his other alloys to market due to IP issues..
That is all I'm saying. You know I'm invested here but I don't trust anything EXCEPT contracts. We have all been lied to for far too long!
I agree BMG has a great future but am not sure LQMT will be the BMG that gets the attention.

When you say "picture of the week", what are you referring to?
I've been looking at the site for 10 minutes and can't figure it out.
Watts,
Whatever happened to EAPS, KEP, canard, electromagnetic rail, etc..
Watts,
You are correct about the current price. You must admit that much of the risk we had faced was a headwind and could have quickly led us to bankruptcy. Now, at least we have a much stronger balance sheet and a partnership with a huge manufacturing partner that may also have powerful relationships that are in our interest.
I hope this leads us to at least $0.50/share within 12 months after we announce a few legitimate contracts.
On paper, that would make me a millionaire at 38. That would not be a bad place to be given the world and our career prospects seem to diminish every year with the rise of the robots.
Gorgol,
Couldn't agree more. Glad you stuck it out with us. I don't trade my shares for fear of big news. Hopefully Hauck is still there working the clients and hopefully this tree starts to bear fruit.
At least a huge degree of risk has passed!
Wrong.
When Apple invested:
LQMT had debt!
A new CEO!
No Engel machine!
Few patents!
Etc...
Now LQMT has:
No debt!
$60+ million in the bank
Engel machines!
Many patents!
Apple conducting R&D
Etc...
It is a complete 360 and the technology is closer to commercialization. I was VERY worried this deal wouldn't get done but I am elated it did. I truly think we are in the midst.
The real question is how high will this go before a pull back and will I be able to get out near the peak and buy back in on the dip?
Can someone please look into this new Apple patent disclosed today.
"Method for forming injection molded receptacle connector"
So apparently Zadesky is STILL at Apple
jolly,
Best of luck. I really hope you get through this!
Live life every day as if it would be your last.
Al
Apple just patented a sapphire coating machine for OLED devices. It will be interesting to see what comes out in a year or two. They are innovating behind the curtains. I wonder if we will ever be used in a device
I used to think Tom Steipp was just being planted to do nothing because Apple was scared he'd completely screw up.
Apple: Tom, don't touch anything!
Tom: you mean we do t have to do anything?
Apple: we will handle patents and research and development. Now, get out of the way.
But maybe I am wrong. I just really was excited to see this technology develop and monetize it at the same time. How great would it be if Apple all of a sudden renews their agreement..
Oh the torture!
Brutal comparison. Oh man, I'm depressed!
Li is obligated to purchase the remaining $55 million
Conference call on Tuesday August 9th after hours.
You are correct. I believe automotive may be our field of dreams. It's called the Apple Car
No, this is NOT a trillion dollar industry. You have got to be joking!
http://www.themoldingblog.com/2016/07/07/is-metal-injection-molding-obsolete-hardly/
We need to make parts like the one in the above article.
The case is the FINAL thing to be made from Liquidmetal as the case is not mechanical in any way. There is no way they will risk any component for failure that could impact performance!
Josh,
I agree and disagree on charging stations. Al new developers will soon offer solar and tesla battery as new build options. They would be stupid not to future proof your home. This will add value to your home long term. Same with home automation.
Most people don't drive 200 miles per day in their cars. For those who don't and who own their homes, retrofitting a charging station into their home when they add solar is a no-brainer.
I think tus will occur sooner than you and most people think. Wait for the Model 3 and the Model Y to come out. TESLA IS model S3XY
Get it?
Gorgol,
I think you missed my point.
I am not trying to buy at the bottom and sell at the top. That is almost an impossibility. I also don't trade this stock. I have only bought and when I sell, I will be done with it.
Tesla is overvalued today due to analysts lack of imagination and the public's belief that analysts are smart. Both couldn't be further from the truth. The stock market is about FUTURE value.
Liquidmetal may have a future. OR, a cheaper alternative that is "good enough" may take the trophy. I intend to dump this as soon as I can change my life and get into something with a visionary at the helm. Elon is the new Steve Jobs. He is I afraid of taking risks and he wants to change the world (and he IS the smartest man in the room, PERIOD)!
Gorgol,
I fully appreciate your optimism but this CC will be no different from the past four years.
The silver lining is that Apple is NEVER first to market. They always allow somebody else to enter market first and then a year or two later, they come out with a product that perfects the technology.
Sadly, Apple is still 1-3 years away from using Liquidmetal in an iPhone and I say this because if it isn't used in next year's major refresh, then it will take 2 more years. I hope Apple still intends to use LQMT in a significant way. They could literally be patenting these parents in the name of science and technology.
We will see but I'm holding my shares just in case. FYI, I have almost a million shares. I hope something big does happen with Lugee Li as I would be more than happy to dump this at $0.60/share and jump big into Tesla as I believe this is what they are about to do.
Imagine an Uber picks up 20 rides a day at a low cost of $5 / ride. = $100/day
Now change the word Uber in the sentence above to Tesla.
That is $36,500/ year revenue.
In five years, that is $182,500. The car is an asset Tesla owns and can depreciate.
Imagine these cars are autonomous. There is no driver and the car doesn't get "tired of sick".
Imagine 1,000,000 cars on the road in this model. That is $182,500,000,000 in revenue in 5 years.
This is NOT selling the cars, this is merely putting them on the road.
Tesla's current market cap is $35 billion.
Now add in automobile sales, solar city solar panels and the gigs factory. Give is a 20X PE.
What is the stock price worth? It could seriously be the next Netflix or Amazon due to its model of deferred revenue over existing exponential growth. This is the Master Plan #2 which will be announced later today!
Mark my words!

Now if sets are "mold cavities", then it is a different story. Than you have 20,000 X 1,000 = 20,000,000 parts today per machine.
From www.prometaltech.com
Up to 1,000 shots per day per machine.
20 sets as of current, 40 sets by end of 2016
2months for 30 sets available by customer's requirement
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
What does "set" mean? Is 1 set, 1 machine? So 20 machines to date? 40 machines by end of year?
40,000 shots per day by end of year = 14,600,000 shot per year by end of 2016.
If they are able to get another 60 machines by Sept 2017, then they would have 100 sets producing 1,000 parts for 36,500,000 parts per year. This is still not enough for iPhone.
Watts,
"Sitting on their patent base"?!?! You mean "developing" all of their parents because they were completely out of money and in debt.
LQMT came from a complete position of weakness. They were in No position to negotiate
Nobody will care that Apple uses Liquidmetal except for Apple shareholders as this will lead to margin expansion once costs come down.
