I guess when you overpay everyone, you get a little squimish if they play for anyone else for free, even your own country!
Suzie,
Yeah, but X usually disagrees with me too. LOL Anyways it will be nice to have some company here. I just wish they would hurry and get the season started!
PegnVA,
Well, you won round one with the Pirates win. You won't be so lucky though once the baseball season starts. ;)
Seriously, the Pirates played a great game tonight. Congrats!
PegnVA,
Good does that mean this board has plenty of us? That would be a welcome change. Dugout is a varied board, but it usually ends up being me against THEM. Hehe
I am also a WVU fan, hoping the 'eers can come back against Seton Hall. :/
Truck Day and Sosa,
Nothing like the first sign of spring. Nope, not talking about the first Robin or the first blade of green grass, but site of the moving van pulling into the Fens. Yeah!
As for Sosa, he does need to realize that if you have the season he just had, act ignorant in front of Congress and a team takes the risk you may get a fifty game suspension, you are fortunate to get a contract at all.
He needs to ask Raffy where his contract is.
Thanks for the welcome everyone,
Hi Suzie, so this is where you hide out, eh? LOL
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to drop in and introduce myself. Like Jcamp, Suzie and Bullorbear and probably some others I come here from the DUGOUT board at Raging Bull.
I am also a member and poster at redsoxnation.net as well as the remyreport. I like many other Sox fans have the honor of also being TOS'd from nyyankeefans. LOL
As you can tell, my Sox are colored Red and I look forward to dicussing the coming season.
Play Ball!
Myst,
I sent you an e-mail yesterday. Please let me know if you received it.
Thanks, Vic

Thanks Myst,
As usual, your personal service is worth the price of admission and much, much more. I very much appreciate all you do for us and what you have done for me personally.
Myst,
I sent you an e-mail, did you receive it? I have been having trouble with the puter again so I am sure you can guess what the e-mail is about. :/
fuzzduzz,
I have used the portfolio tracker at smartmoney.com for about three years without problems. I would suggest you take the previous comments about cookies to heart though, he is correct.
Can't get into "The Bull"
anyone else having trouble again?
Myst, thanks very much!! (eom)
Setup for Qlgc,
Anyone have a decent setup for Qlgc after it's horrific fall? These are the situations where I have trouble making a setup. Any suggestions on RFMD, ADCT and AMCC would be nice right now too.
Thanks, Vic
Rocky,
I am in the same boat with RFMD and ADCT but am beginning to think of adding some cash to the pot again. I guess alot will depend on how much I get hit on my knee surgery I had this week.
I am just thankful for being able to walk right now. It is so easy to take for granted the "small stuff" until you risk losing it, and realize it is the "biggest stuff" of all.
Have a great weekend, Vic
Howdy Rosie,
Thought I would check in too. Thanks for setting up the board. I like Ihub alot.
Myst,
You have mail. Thanks!! (private message here)
Myst,
With all the trouble my computer has given me I rebuilt and had to reformat my hard drive. Please reset me and send me an email with reinstallation instructions again.
Thanks as always for your excellent support, Vic
Myst,
Thanks for the rapid reply. That is my approach. I just wanted to get a feel for how strongly you felt about MRI vs. x-dev. I can easily see that the best use of xdev is short term trades while investing for the long term. While MRI is more of an indicator of short term risk factors.
Myst,
A couple of questions.
1) Which would you tend to follow, a buy signal from the portfolio even with the MRI being somewhat unfavorable.
or, a buy signal on MRI with the portfolio buy still a fair bit away?
Or should you wait for both to be in sync?
I know tha latter would be the most preferable but since we are starting to have "dueling" indicators, would you view the x-dev or the MRI to be the dominant indicator of action?
Karl,
did you try all three quote sources? Sometimes mine will do that too. I think it is something that the particular quote source does at one time or another. Whenever it happens to me I switch to one of the others and things are back to normal.
After a day or two I go back to my usual (yahoo).
nocona,
Try to copy and paste it into a word document or to notepad and name it mri.ref. Then move it to the proper place in xdev.
Vic
daaverage,
Sorry to reply publically, but with the free service on Ihub I can't provide a private reply.
Yes, I did get the trial version before I bought the full version. And you can go back and backtest by following a stock from the past and moving forward to the present. I did that and found that it met the promise that other posters have made. I found it worked better with some stocks than others, but my research was limited in scope.
I think the new MRI feature will be of benefit to those who would like a "quick and dirty" way of using technical analysis without knowing all the nuances of the various indicators.
As far as my personal gains and losses, I have had one gain since purchasing in January and am still holding two positions. I do not have the system set up to make rapid fire trades. I expect to probably make 3-4 trades on each stock I have in the system during the year. Of course, the market will determine that for sure, but that is my expectation.
I bought the system as a way to curb my trading impulses for quick in and outs to try to maximize my returns by better allocating my resources. I expect that x-dev over time, will help me achieve those goals.
Good trading/investing to you, Vic
myst,
I put it in as a save as file and rebooted and it is working great. Thanks alot and I hope your Easter is a happy and blessed one. I appreciate that you gave it to us as a free upgrade too.
Myst,
Great news all around! Thanks!
Myst,
Nevermind. Once I shut down some processes and retried I was able to make it work. Thanks anyway.
Vic
Myst,
I downloaded the update, deleted my old copy of Xdev and removed the file from program files. When I reinstalled it I get an hourglass and a program not responding message in task manager.
Help and TIA, Vic
byculla,
I don't know what kind of problem you are having manipulating the bands but I can probably answer why the program doesn't have a 30 day trial.
Most plays are only bought and sold on a limited basis throughout the year and you wouldn't tend to get much of a feel for the program for a 30 day usage. For instance I entered some positions in late January and am still no where near a selling point yet. It may take several more weeks for my selling point to occur. Some stocks are potentially months from a sell.
You can get a feel for how the program works once you get the band manipulation problems solved. Perhaps you may want to change data feeds at the bottom. Sometimes they use such a wide spread that the band changes are hard to see.
I did some backtesting and found the program to be very useful. I think if you are looking for a good way to do some limited trading this program will do the trick. If you are looking for some quick in and outs you can probably use it to find some spots but I doubt you will end up as profitable on a risk adjusted basis over time.
JMHO, best wishes and good trading, Vic
goodbug,
It looks like you and he may have different settings, because according to myst's chart it doesn't look like he had had the three day rule violated yet.
My understanding of the rule is as you stated it. Perhaps Myst can give us a little clarity, but I think that may be why the difference in interpretation.
Vic
Not sure I am looking forward to that one,
that way, when the in-laws drop in they really drop in. Or, forget telemarketing those companies would just teleport a salesman right to your dinner table!
Myst,
Happy to share what I have read over the last month or so about the software. Still not to experienced in the actual usage, but I remember many of the postings of those who came before us.
Also, I suggested xdev to WF and felt an obligation to try to get him off on the right foot.
I will do what I can to help where I can. That is the value of learning, the ability to pass it on to others.
And again, I wish to thank you for your patience and help the last few days as I have been trying to get the bugs out of my computer!
wf,
without knowing more about your setups I can't tell you alot more, unless it has to do with the time frames you are looking at and how much you set up for your minimum buys and sells.
Did you enter your setup info correctly in PM when you opened that symbol?
WF,
Perhaps Myst or one of the other, longer term folks can explain it much better than I can, but I would assume that you have bought in at lower prices and therefore the volatility of the prices you paid would not become extreme until the lower price was met.
When in doubt, make your best call. The program is a tool, not the master. However xdev is telling you not to risk more capital until you can get in at a better price.
Hope this helps, Vic
PS- you may reach an optimal sell point before a buy point. If that happens, collect your paycheck and wait for the next buy signal, it will probably come at a higher price than the previous one did. Think about it, you want to buy higher and higher dips because that means your stock is becoming more valuable over time.
wf,
you are doing it correctly. The main page with the charts where you do the backtesting is a laboratory. The place where you develop your settings.
Now once you make that decision and use it as the basis for the real work in the portfolio manager, that is where the future buy and sell decisions based off of your actual buys and sells take place. Most of the time the two pages won't agree. Follow what the portfolio manager tells you.
Use the lab to make adjustments as trends change.
