bbotcs, what about AMZN? With the huge drop(price & volume) last 2 trading days in this, alongwith the other retailers, looks like a nice buying opp I felt. Added a bit below 170. Amazon has a lot of pricing power,so hoping this is a just a blip for this company.
the most brutal 2-day stretch I've ever seen(don't even remember the Covid period being this bad). If Tariffs are the single cause of this strong reaction, then I see this as a good buying opportunity. For longer-term for sure, but even for some short-term quick trades due to the seesaw nature in individual country tariff negotiations. Will definitely be an interesting week ahead.
TGT-yes,all the retailers(WMT too) have a big China factor. Have seen a lot of clothing marked 'made in Vietnam' too. So when I saw the sudden green on TGT this morning, just after the Vietnam-Trump call news on CNBC,I expected the Vietnam tariff rate is being negotiated down.So bought a starter few.
TGT(+1.19 @ 95.47 )-picked up a few seeing it green in a sea of red.Wonder why green though, is it because of the Vietnam tariff reduction expectation?
I was certain the tendered shares # would be small, but was still surprised to see it that miniscule. It must've been a larger #,but most have rescinded their shares back after the new offer
There's also SEC filing today(surprised that only 65K shares been tendered so far):
"On April 3, 2025, Carlyle, SK Capital and Parent announced that Merger Sub extended the expiration date of the Offer to one minute after 11:59 p.m., New York City time, on April 18, 2025. The Offer was previously scheduled to expire one minute after 11:59 p.m., New York City time, on April 4, 2025.
The depository for the Offer has advised Merger Sub that as of the close of business on April 2, 2025, approximately 65,120 Shares have been validly tendered and not properly withdrawn pursuant to the Offer."

TSLA/TSLL- sales slowdown expected nearterm and likely already factored in,IMO. The "blowback against Musk"(words from that article) is what's hurting the company right now,IMO. If Elon tackles that issue(like he did somewhat by addressing his employees recently telling them to hold onto their shares),will get this back on track slowly,I'm hoping. He will need to do more to repair his image. But with geniuses & madmen, one can never predict(all geniuses are mad to an extent, but not all mad guys are geniuses) Our guy is a mad genius, so only time will tell where this lands.
nelson,ATRO-so glad you did good on it! Lost track of it after my initial trade, but putting it back again on my watchlist as I really like the Aerospace/Defense sector.
TSLA/TSLL- love him or hate him, one thing I've found over the years, betting against Musk has never worked....for me at least. So, I'm holding onto my 2X ETF TSLL.
They have a Quantum Day on the 20th:
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/quantum-computing-stocks-climb-ahead-170008955.html
r59,any thoughts on the QC stocks heating up again?Maybe Nvidia's quantum day Mar 20 catalyst.
QUBT,QMCO, ARQQ,IONQ
Wish I could get myself to short, but can't because of the type of accounts I have that don't allow shorting. Plus, the fact that on principle, hate to bet against anything/anybody,lol. The closest I get to go negative on tickers is when I use the Short ETFs( SMST). Big mistake though, shoulda gone with TSLQ/TSDD (the Short etfs for Tesla),lol!
TSLA/TSLL- did take a few quickies, but still have lots left. Have analyzed this one wrongly. Didn't realize the anti-musk factor will go this bad.Canada has specifically excluded Tesla from incentives, everyone simply beating it down.
ZENA(3.66)-let's keep an eye on this one.Had a 60% spike last week to 5+ on heavy volume on no news, no followthrough after that. There might be a rerun again. Being a lowfloat can be volatile though.
ARQQ/QMCO/QUBT-the quantum tickers are heating up again! Have been holding my breath on these for the last month or so. Reason could be NVIDIA's upcoming “Quantum Day” March 20, 2025
DXYZ(+5.72 to 39.15 )-up 17% today, this one moves real quick when it wants to!
SMTC-finally got my chance to offload a bit on the good news spike.Same with few more like MANH,testing one's patience. Also waiting for ANET to bounce back
it was simply an observation and a question(since yahoo isn't always accurate), not trying to correct anyone. Like you, I'm also a keen investor in leveraged ETFs. As I'm a follower of IONQ, was pleasantly surprised to learn about this ETF which I'd no clue about until that moment when I asked my first question. The first 2-3 days of any ETF are more critical since they provide a direction(before too many traders get to know of it), the only reason why I specified the day.
YahooFinance shows today being Day#2. Yesterdays range was $22-27.41 with a close of $26.62 on 130,638 share volume.
Is IONX a brand new leveraged ETF?Did it just start trading yesterday? Thanks
Not sure that could be the reason, the other Drone stocks didn't pop as much as Zena did.But anyway, all the gains from AH last night gone already. There's some news pr released this morning, news looks nice, let's see how this plays out.
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/zenatech-expands-zenadrone-team-35-114500583.html
ZENA(5.25)-whoa, up another 15%in a/h(after the 62% spike in regular)! Sold few to preserve gains.
what's the reason for the huge spike on heavy volume in ZENA today? Seems to be something more than this acquisition news, right? That news didn't have much effect yesterday when it came out?Any idea why the big pop, more intriguing why the huge volume today?
ZENA(+1.59 to 4.40)-one of my Drone/Evtol stocks is up 55% today. Been bullish on this sector, been accumulating some tickers in this group for a bit, but probably got in too soon. ZENA/PDYN/ACHR/JOBY/EVTL/UAVS
TSLA/TSLL- thanks r59. Yes the markets are going to act like a yoyo near-term, I also believe.Which is why, on my positions(other than TSLL), will take quick profits. But with Tesla, the only reason I think it might do well for sometime, is that the anti-Musk feeling in the air has heightened so much, that he(musk) will have to address it soon, the beginnings of which have already begun(the president's attempt to prop him up with a Tesla car buy,etc lol).
TSLL-this one I'm waiting a bit,for 2 reasons.First, I feel TSLA will make up quite a bit of what it lost in the last month or so. Second, I'm still underwater on this(even after tripling down yesterday),my breakeven is 11+, hoping TSLL will get past that in a week or so
TSLL-tripled down on this below $8.This will turn out to be either my smartest or dumbest move, time will tell 😅!
I'm really surprised about this weakening airline demand.Until maybe 2-3 weeks back(before all the tariff stuff & the market chaos began),we all felt the economy was quite strong. And kept hearing friends/people were traveling or planning to this summer. What changed all of a sudden? The markets(& the uncertainties created lately by the bombastic news every single day) spooking everyone? Is this simply temporary panic/buying opportunity, or something more serious?
DXYZ-really like this one.It has fallen hard, specially after the recent negative Space news.Have some of this, been wanting & waiting to nibble more
I've made a ton playing the ups/downs on these leveraged ETFs the last 5-6 months, but the timing this time is off I guess.
NVDL & TSLL- trust me to be in both these horrors, that too in a magnified way 😅!
So many 'fallen angels' out there these days. And me struck by 'analysis paralysis' due to not only the chaotic markets, but also being fully tapped out with no free cash to spare. Waiting for the tide to turn.
FSLR(+6.07 to 133.67)- great timing on this one for you!
thankfully not a hit piece, can't stand those, lol!. Thanks for the clarification & the link
Oh Thanks,lg! Bad timing on my part, hadn't seen this earlier
hit piece again?by whom? Was looking but didn't find anything. Was it generic to the 3 stocks you mentioned,or was it SMCI specific?
Thanks
SMCX(-6.73 to 47.19)-got back in on drop today at 46.91. Is there some hit piece again on SMCI?
have they said they will be announcing CFO this week?
Oh, you meant the ETFs then, not the parent.Yes the ETFs do Reverse split
bbotcs, you meant 'forward' splits(not reverse), right? Agree on that, have found the momentum/interest fade after the splits.Like for instance, right now am finding ANET slow in bouncing back(earlier before the forward split, it used to bounce back real quick).
