WT. You make some good pts.
AUPH seems active in attracting a BO offer . So since Otsuka has EU rights and Germany ( the largest market there ) won't pay for Lupy, NVS ( big in the EU ) wouldn't be interested .
So who do you see ( if anyone ) buying this Co.
I'm familiar with ICER . Shows Vascepa ( which I'm prescribed ) to be very cost effective ...doesnt mean they are selling a lot of it ( brand or generic ) in the US or EU .
Re ARDX ...keep an eye on UNCY . Wife already prescribes Fosrenol ...UNCY's version has advantages of a drug she already prescribes ...so easy for patient transition if their pivotal trial reads out positive , mid year 2024 .
If you have time , chk it out and let me know what U think . A lot of smart bio hedge funds now own about a 1/3rd of the Co .
Thx for the detailed , informed , debate
Kiwi
Yep ...ripping off the dialysis patient ...sorry but thats how they see it .
If they priced at same rate / unit as IBSRELLA , at lot more patients could afford the copay
Kiwi
Thx ...but as you post
WT. All good pts . I may come back to them later if I have time .
Have you checked how many stay on Lupy once proteinuria levels have been corrected ?
Kiwi
Yep ...note to FFS
WT excellent DD
What is the copay for Lupy , once prescribed ? AUPH won't subsidize ( via coupons or whatever they do ) for ever.
Agree that Lupy is better than SOC but the feed back I get re prescribing is major PA ( prior approval ) hurdles put up by the insurers .
Co is making $ tho.. but this is not the next GLP-1
Good luck
Have you looked at EWTX and ( further behind ) TNYA in the Cardiac space ?
Kiwi
RMB. You might look at TNYA also ...similar space. Ceo is one very smart guy and is backed by the Column group ( smart team )
Early days tho .
EWTX is far further along
BOTH are high speculative ...so.....etc
Kiwi
Well looks as tho you have this board to yourself.
Co reminds me of MyoKardia ..eventually bt out by BMS I think
Early days
Kiwi
Always ...one of your posts from back in early 2020
Capt. good letter thx
Kiwi
Capt /NYCardio/ North Any ideas for a letter and who at Kaiser to send it to.
The letter being ..." I'm R-IT indication . Why am I being dispensed a generic Vascepa which is for the Marine indication "
Wasn't the HealthNet lawsuit all about this ( vague memory of it ...may be wrong )...
Kiwi
Huge Vol once again following Ceo's letter.
I'd like to see an update on enrollment status .
They still state Q2 for pivotal trial results
Kiwi
Ps. chk out EWTX
Ha. Good to see you are still here .
Do you follow any other drugs in the Cardio space ...if so chk out EWTX for HCM
Kiwi
Thx Capt . Kaiser will only do 1 lipid panel a year ( with my annual physical ) . Their reason is that I'm on max dose of all the CV meds they recommend so what's the pt. ...anyway thats their reason.
Thx for the script data from the UK
Please post any script data from Spain when / if you have access to it .
Kiwi
Hi North I'm not stating its rebranded / rebottled Vascepa .
Hope U are well
Kiwi
O. me and Kaiser .
My grandfather and father died relatively young from fatal heart attacks .
When ever I filled out applications for health insurance I would always get this reply ..." We are taking this opportunity to deny your application " .
So finally ..in 1986 ..I agreed to be a "lab rat " at UCSF in their research into He FH ...which I have ...inherited very high LDL cholesterol .
Part of this meant being in a safety study for the first statin before it was approved in 1987 .
I had monthly AST / ALT liver tests ...they were concerned my liver would fail before I had a heart attack.
Anyway ..they supplied me with the first Statin ( Mevacor I think ) free as long as I would donate blood and do some of their tests and one clinical trial.
I was in the construction business . Our trade group was offered a deal from Kaiser ...about 20 yrs ago ...come one , come all .
Kaiser would cover all of us even with pre existing conditions ...provided all of us would sign with Kaiser .
I've been with Kaiser ever since
Kiwi
Laurent. your talents are wasted or at least unappreciated here .
Take a look at EWTX
Kiwi
Why doesn't some one ...Lizzy et al ...ask AMRN mgt / pr if Kaiser is no longer buying Vascepa from AMRN .
thx
Kiwi
JR. re your comment
Laurent. " Let us know " ???? This is a shoot the messenger board .
Good luck ...and by all means never suggest AMRN spend any $ on seeking independent confirmation of ANY R-IT results ...even tho you know thats what they need to raise the Level of Evidence rating to get wider coverage in the EU ....where ...drum roll please ...they have patent protection.
The US market is lost once Kaiser goes generic
JMO
Kiwi
Lizzy. I generally respect your views . As to me being clueless . I have no way of knowing how many Kaiser CAD patients are now being sent generic Vascepa
How would I know ?
My assumption is based on my experience with Kaiser and how they operate .
My wife ( who actually has prescribed Vascepa ) ..also worked at one time for Kaiser Healthcare so has some insight into how they operate .
Good luck
Kiwi
Noel. Kaiser sends me 100 day supply at a time . Expiration date on the 100 days supply I just finished reads " Discard after 19 Sep 2024 "
I'll let you do the math on that ...ie back date to when that 100 day supply was shipped
Actually the new generic V is also a discard after 1 yr . I had mentioned in my post to Lizzy that I might be wrong thinking it was a short expiration period . New GV is the same as the old Brand V re good for 1 yr ...my mistake
Kiwi
Lizzy ...Kaiser Healthcare / hospital / MD / pharmacy are all one organization . It's a top down change .
I don't know if they have stopped prescribing , selling , dispensing Brand Vascepa to everyone ...but I suspect they have .
Doubt I'm the only one
Kiwi
Lizzy. Kaiser has stopped sending me Brand Vascepa
They now ( today ) have sent me Tera's generic Vascepa
I had noticed that the brand Vascepa Kaiser had been sending me had a short expiry date ...usually just less than a year ...and I had assumed ( and I may have been wrong ) that this V was from AMRN's long term inventory that they were dumping to Kaiser instead of writing it off.
The CEO had alluded to challenging headwinds in renewing US supply agreements ...recent conference call
By the way ...I'm R-IT indication ...not the Marine indication
Kiwi
WT. maybe Class 3,4 CKD with eGFR greater than 45
Wife only knows of 2 patients on Lupy....to try and rapidly reduce levels of proteinuria as well as taper steroid use.
Major insurance push back re prior approvals ( document patient failed on all other available meds etc ) ...due to cost of Lupy.
OT. chk out EWTX ...recent find and medically relevant to me
Good luck
Kiwi
OK. fair enough .
So here's a fact for you .
Kaiser is now shipping generic Vascepa instead of brand Vascepa . I received my renewal today .
My opinion is ...I'm unlikely to be the only CAD patient Kaiser has / is switching to generic V
Good luck
Kiwi
OK. We as in us patients taking this stuff.
Some bad news folks.
I've just received a new 100 day supply of what used to be brand Vascepa
Kaiser has just sent me Tera's generic Icosapent Ethyl instead ...total cost $10
This batch is good to mid 2025 where as the brand Vascepa they had been sending me expired around mid 2024 ....so I guess their deal for AMRN long term inventory is over
Kiwi
Noel. You never liked opposing opinions ...even in early 2020 when AMRN was still in the 20's.
Good luck getting approval in Germany without increasing the Level of Evidence rating .
Meanwhile ...Denner is doing most of the right things to move the PPS higher . So theres something to be positive about
JMO
Kiwi
Thx but you would think there must be some RWE ( real world evidence ) out there to independently confirm the separation of event lines at 2 yrs .....no mineral oil placebo involved.
This IMHO is the evidence we need to up the level of evidence rating used by EU health depts.
I'd rather see AMRN spend $50m finding this data ...then on a share buy back
JMO
Kiwi
EWTX followup. background on HCM
About Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
EWTX. ..my pitch
Suggest those interested chk out 7500 for HCM
https://investors.edgewisetx.com/events-and-presentations/default.aspx ....The Piper Sandler conference
EWTX is IMHO the most interesting Co in the muscle / cardiac space since MYOK
They will be presenting data on Beckers ( which is fast tracked ) and Duchene in mid 2024 and the first data on HCM maybe in Q3 24
Drug so far is very well tolerated , no drug / drug interactions and may not be subject to the limitations placed on current HCM drugs
Obviously high risk / speculative .
JMO
Opposing informed opinions welcomed
Kiwi
Yes ...sure looks that way to me. By the way ..OT ..I have a small position in EWTX ...best Co in the muscle /cardiac space I've seen since MYOK ( which was eventually bt out )
Kiwi
EWTX. Best Co I've seen in this area since MYOK ...which was eventually bt out .
Kiwi
Hasn't AMRN already guided re expected earnings , plan to repurchase shares etc ?
That shouldn't stop them from small share purchases should it ?
Kiwi
Moose. I think this why they are limiting Lupy to the higher eGFR range .
Moose. I think it means they are recommending Lupkynis only for those that match the eGFR levels used in the pivotal trial.
Some Nephrologist might be using it " off label " as a last ditch effort for a patient with rapidly declining eGFR due to high levels of proteinuria .
eGFR is a measure of kidney function
FFS
Denner orchestra a delisting ?
AMRN reports over $300m cash on hand and a $50 m share repurchase.
FFS re
