Either that or market Makers creating some churn. They know we are on edge of our seats expecting big news soon. I missed the boat on this spike. Will Jump back in if it gets back to recent lows.
I bought a few shares of WAB this morning at around $82 after which share price shot up. Sold it all a few minutes later @ around $86. Is this a random spike or is there some rumor of good news? Now wish I hadn't sold.

Sorry to see my prediction come true.
No matter how long it takes to begin the aerial tests, I believe they will be prepared for and conducted in a manner that they will be considered successful. Probably months down the road/runway.
Prior POC testing was for RF communications - mostly old technology. Laser communications between vehicles/aircraft in motion is much more difficult to achieve. I expect they will start with stationary vehicles on the ground and, when successful with that, followed by moving vehicles on the ground. Only after successful ground testing should they attempt airborne testing. That's how I would go about it anyway due to cost of flying.
Hi Pilot Dave, I think ABWN needs the laser network to function in order to have some protection from competition. Their granted rf patent is about to expire. I think ABWN management is finding it much more difficult to align a narrow laser beam from a transmitter in motion to a moving target receiver and keep it aligned than they expected.
My understanding is that now a series of Cessna tests will be required to make POC laser communications successful. If and when that POC is successful, I expect they will begin test with airliners.
As far as I can tell, the filed laser patent has not yet even gained "pending" status. I know from experience that USPTO is slow.

20K shares just traded brought price to $1.80 briefly. Did anyone pick up shares during that period? Was it market-makers picking up shares? Or maybe MM's shaking the bush?

If it breaks under $2, look for $1 unless some announcement
ABWN purchased two 10% Convertible Promissory Notes in the aggregate principal amount of 145,833 each.

ABWN opened the day with a spike up from 2.17 to $2.48 and, all within seconds, dropped back to a range around $2.30 - all with very low volume. Price will go where the market makers want it to go.

Ameritrade won't allow Shorting OTCs. Wish they would.
majority of transactions today have been under 10k shares in 1 minute periods. My trades were broken up into 4 or 5 smaller transactions. But SP dropped by 15 cents in last 15 minutes so party might be about over.
Had to jump to boat as it was pulling away from the dock but got back in at $2.30. I sense further upward ABWN movement.
20 years from date application was filed. Not 20 yr from date patent was granted.
June 8, 1995
In the United States, for utility patents filed on or after June 8, 1995, the term of the patent is 20 years from the earliest filing date of the application on which the patent was granted and any prior U.S. or Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications from which the patent claims priority.

Patents Expire 20 years from the earliest filing date of the application
Patent US 6,285,878 dates are:
Filing date Jun 12, 1998 Dates are assumptions on Google's part.
Priority date Jun 12, 1998 Dates are assumptions on Google's part.
Unless ABWN is granted an extension, which is rare, the patent will expire June of 2018
Today's larger volume transaction periods each resulted in lower prices - so far. Guess the announcement didn't excite traders. Maybe a pop at end of day.
I didn't detect price manipulation that would have suggested leaks prior to the GE collaboration announcement. Probably will need another announcement such as a date set for the Cessna POC test to jack the price again. And wouldn't surprise me if that didn't happen for 6 months or more.
Take your profits before back to 1$ . JMHO
The Ameritrade site has a similar chart indicating volume. However, the colors represent whether the share price of last trade in the current period was higher or lower the last trade of the previous period. That seems more helpful than just the direction of last trade of the current period.
Explanation of Inertial Reference Unit

GE wouldn't be associated with a "pennyScam" corp.
There was early transaction/s of over 2,000,000 shares during which s.p. declined, suggesting a sale. Maybe that had something to do with GE. S.p. then recovered.
Tiny trade volumes causing big movements in sp today. What does that suggest if anything?
Thanks, ske, for bringing that press release to our attention. I wonder what stage of development the laser terminals are regarding robotic / gps direction positioning of transmit/receive laser "antenna".

Disadvantage of free-space laser (FSL) communication
Not saying ABWN won't succeed but there are hurdles.
Signal affected by atmosphere fog, clouds, rain, snow, SCINTILLATION and icing.
ABWN would need to use conventional radio wave to communicate with ground stations.
Signal is directional. Transmit (and probably receive) antenna must be physically directed at the target - in our case moving targets. Multiple antennas required on aircraft in order to prevent aircraft itself from blocking line of sight

My take on today's announcement is that they want to test the laser communications aspect and confirm that technology feasible by Cessna test prior to the 20-airliner test. In an interview months ago, it was stated that they hope to conduct the airliner test during calendar year 2018 so this confirms in print that anticipated airliner test time frame not close.
