They didn't attempt to renew the 20 Yr old patent and they haven't been issued the new patent and probably won't be issued for another yr if ever.
Patent examiner routinely disallows some of the broader claims that attorney puts in intentionally expecting reject hoping examiner will allow other more narrow claims. Provides more work for atty to rewrite and examiner can say he did his job.
RE: (12) United States Patent (10) Patent No.: US 6,285,878 B1
Airborne Wireless Network (Lai) (45) Date of Patent: Sep.4, 2001 According to most 1 st patent is expired. As of today.
Patent Protection expires 20 years from application date. Date of application Filed: June 12, 1998. Expired June 12, 2018. Not that it matters.
If this Piece Of Honey does overcorrect again, I'll load up again.
there may be a no flip waiting period to cash in.
Airbus article mentioned laser.
Blues, A patent application is not in pending status until a USPTO examiner looks at the submission and puts it in "pending" status and assigns a pending number. That takes about a year from submission due to backlog. Also, What is your source for the expiration date of September? - not that it matters because no one will put it into production by then anyway.
The granted patent protection is beyond 20 years and should have already have expired. Anyone can use it. The recent patent application is not yet in "pending" status.
Not even a fully working prototype. Apparently they did test software compatibility with the GE antenna pointing device on a test stand.
That article was published June 20 2018. at most, ABWN has ten days left to test with the two Skyhawks or lease for another period. I didn't realize they were that far advanced with their terrestrial testing.
about nine ten-thousandths of a dollar, in other words, is what a share of ABWN is worth today.
Patents expire 20 yr after application date which, in case of 6,285,878
Filed: June 12, 1998. It's a mute point though because no one is that close to production or sales either date.
Unless an extension has been granted by uspto, patent 6,285,878 has expired. Also ABWN's latest patent idea has been filed at uspto but not yet in "applied for" status as far as I know. No patent protection at this time.
An update regarding 2 plane test was promised for the June 4-6 San Diago Summit but, if it was given there, it was never properly made available to general public.
Saw commercial on FOX a few minutes ago.
Who said would be June FAA Test?
This thread has gone to the dogs.
Thanks for that info, brightdu, and sorry for your losses.
"Nothing" caused this today.
If they had said "operational", that would be mews.
Most on this board are just expressing their opinions. Some have expertise in certain areas and I appreciate their sharing that knowledge. I don't think personal attacks on other board members helps.
I believed ABWN promise of an update on the 2 plane test. I believed it would be a good news update because didn't think they would give a negative update. Bought 10k shares in anticipation of good morning news. The talk was changed to afternoon - too late to make a decision on whether or not to keep those shares so dumped the shares with little loss because didn't want to hold overnight to find out more. Wouldn't be able to sleep - LOL. Was expecting an announcement next morning before opening. It didn't come. The crowd at the presentation was able to dump their shares knowing there was no 2 plane announcement. Us lowly shareholders had to wait for the no-news-news that Volle Kraft was able to obtain - and thanks for that, Volle.
The highest volume period I see for the day so far is 137K shares and the price went down for that period indicating more sellers
And everyone in that crowd probably left knowing that there was no update on 2 plane test. That's info the the rest of us should have had since it was promised.
Thanks for checking, Volle. Yes, that bit of mis-information supplied in press release could have cost me dearly if I didn't bail when I did. That's what I get for day trading.
Fortunately, I dumped these 10K shares @ just .005 loss because ABWN changed the presentation times such that would need to wait another day for news - which didn't come anyway.
ABWN promised an update on the upcoming Cessna testing in yesterday's presentation. Anyone at the presentation would have an unfair trading advantage - good news or bad news.
Usually, if there is something to announce, they put it out there by 0930 Eastern time for the public. If there was something in the presentation of value for investors but not made public, ABWN could be in legal trouble.
There are two de Mos speakers scheduled. 1:30 PM – 2:15 PM for Jason de Mos VP Business Development and 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM for Marius de Mos Vice President, Technical Affairs - PST I assume.
Has DeMoss time frame been changed to 1:30 PM – 2:15 PM PST?
Couldn't help myself. Bought 10,000 shares @.215. Never owned that many shares of anything before LOL. Anticipating good news in this week.
I wonder how long they've had FAA approval?
I think the pps has to recover before it can be defined as a dip. I hope it will be a dip but I still haven't bought back in. I might be missing out on the bargain of a lifetime but, mostly, I want to hear some good news first.

An announcement of successful moving ground vehicle testing will come prior to any flight testing IS MY GUESS.
Thanks for the link, ske. I think the author, Phil Anthropy made a lot of good points. I've mostly been day trading ABWN but haven't traded since it was headed down to below $2. For the longs sake, I hope he is wrong but I'm probably out for good.
Will WAB acquire GE's Rail/locomotive unit?
