Perhaps, but for those who see and understand the longer term picture, the low price screams buy. Jermart predicted a one million share day early this morning as volume hit 300k. He then soon raised the prediction to 3 million shares. He ended up right on the first call. Looks to me like there are still some unexplained factors here.
Yes! Do yourself a favor and read all the past posts.
Good point and probably part of the picture, however, today's volume of 3x current average seems to call for something more specific.
The quarter will not be dismal unless you decide to view it this way. Revenues will be up and I expect much progress will be noted.
Good guess. Thanks.
Can anybody account for the high volume today aside from shorts, lack of revenue news and skittishness over next week's CC?
Great video especially the 10 minutes of part I with Wave looming all over the undertone.
Wave has reported Q4 earnings in mid March since at least year 2000. The issue of whether or not share holders like this has not been brought up all that much over the years since. On the one hand this schedule makes for a long wait to get an official report regarding financial results from 2.5 months earlier, but on the other hand it gives management an excellent idea of how Q1 has been progressing allowing for some guidance on future progress. This insight should be particularly interesting as SS discusses the company picture on March 14.
The latest issue of the Economist (3/3/12), in its Technology Quarterly section (p.5), featured a full page HP advert heralding the new HP Ultrabook "with TPM security chip" noted in good size type face.
This is the first time I have seen the TPM proclaimed in a major magazine. Am surprised to see it come from HP as opposed to Dell. Will Dell soon follow this challenge?
Chasing share price on the bid is tough these days.
There was an interesting article on high frequency trading in the Economist last week:
“It is true that High Frequency Traders are constantly sending and cancelling orders. Some of that activity may be tied to a manipulative technique called “quote-stuffing,” in which a flood of orders and cancellations causes congestion on networks and thereby a fleeting trading advantage.”
(Econ, 2/25/12, SRp.12)
Look at this link:
http://antivirus.iyogi.com/news/wave-system-to-provide-security-solutions-to-windows-8.html
"Wave Systems, a global software developer for hardware-based digital security announced that it will make security solution for Microsoft’s latest operating system – Windows 8."
Wave System to provide security solutions to Windows 8
Microsoft reported, “Hardware-based security is one of the best methods for ensuring platform integrity, encrypting data or mitigating malware that targets the boot path. Wave’s product expertise aligns with Microsoft on achieving our goals for security.”
See post 223452 by JD.
An article, that has now disappeared, cited a definite relationship between Microsoft and Wave. Looks like the author may have jumped to conclusions.
I would say this is major news!
Great find!!
Watching Level II this afternoon got me dizzy with the machine-drive programmed trading. It was a relentless push downward clearly intent on picking up shares caught by stop loss orders, skittish holders and margin pressure. Hopefully this will serve as a cleansing and mark a bottom in SP.
Imagine all of these dots as part of a spiral, spinning wildly, gathering energy and getting ever more concentric over time. There will soon come a dot, in the not distant future, that marks a centralized flux causing the spiral to explode initiating a brand new spiral and higher share price. This is but a simple graphic representation for the ongoing WAVX story.
As a working model I call this Wave Spring Theory vs. 1.0 (3/1/12). Current SP 1.93.
Vs 1.5 due as WAVX SP hits 3.00.
Thank you for being there, asking pertinent questions, and reporting back. Best post today IMHO.
The post in question is repeated again below.
Note that it is a quick summary of the SS talk, which many were not able to listen to live.
It does not state a relation between Wave and MS, only that MS will make announcements during RSA.
I clarified in another post that this was vague in its implications. I have no dubious motives.
Quick summary:
Standard background
Announcements from MS coming.
SED encryption tied to TPM.
Wave provides client software, 100 million shipped with Dell alone.
Enterprise adoption customers listed.
Safend acquired for endpoint protection.
Watching evolution of a new standard.
Support of Windows 8, Samsung relations.
Social web foray with Scrambles.
Solid growth, expansion in consumer space.
Profitability pushed out to foster growth.
Long term Wave share holders expect a lot more than a little real estate and beer stories. Lemmings by their very genetics are followers. WAVX share holders, frustrated though they may be, are clearly fierce leaders in this field and they are not jumping over the heralded short cliff.
The recent high volume of IHUB postings on this WAVX board is indicative of a number of underlying issues, as e.g.
a) Increased frustration by some long term share holders.
b) Pressure by shorts to encourage selling.
c) Increasingly good news on the success of the Wave-driven push toward hardware-based security.
d) Lack of news regarding real revenue for the company.
The current SP decline under low volume indicates a market generally unaware of Wave's strength in the emerging hardware-based security realm. Longs for the time being are mostly tapped out and new investors are not yet easily convinced. For all the shares being sold here, there remain many people acquiring at this special blue light level.
Technically you are correct.
However, creation of the vehicle implies that the vehicle will be used. We may get some more clarity at the March CC.
This is not a big issue. Revenues are growing. I just wanted to address a false impression that dilution was currently happening.
SS acknowledged today that WAVX would not be profitable in the near future because the company is focusing on the long term. Remember that Stephen has been in this game from the beginning and has led Wave to garner the premier position in this paradigm shift to hardware-based security. As to running on fumes, the company is debt free and sustains a steadily rising revenue. The current plan to sell corporate shares will likely click in as share price rises with increasingly optimistic news, hopefully to be soon attached to increasing revenue numbers. The BOD issue has been much aired here and looks like it is being somewhat addressed. I think we would all like to see a rejuvenated BOD, but the company is firing on all cylinders and lift off is in process.
Please peruse the consistent revenue increases since 2005 listed below.
This is why we are here... The pattern continues!!!

Yes. Register and listen.
Thanks, logging on to listen.
I'd be happy with 2 PRs if one would include some significant sign of revenue.
Thank you very much for your lucid response.
I quite agree, and somehow knew that you could phrase the perspective better than I.
There is still some chance for Wave to report better than expected results. We shall see.
That said I am perfectly happy with significant revenue growth.
Do you think the Q4 report will include some sort of profit?
Your sentiments are likely shared by many here.
In short:
With no significant news of new revenue, new buyers are not entering. Low demand and low volume make it easy for shorts to push the SP down. The low share price makes it attractive to shorts. As to suitors... well the company is not that attractive yet and would be tough to acquire given strong share holder support and a company commitment to independence. Am sure others will weigh in here.
All of this could change very rapidly.
If your questions are rhetorical, please fill in the answers. If not, answers may flow. I agree that the WAVX options notice is bullish and that SP should start moving North real soon. Your handle is very new. Welcome. How long have you been following the WAVX story?
Not announced yet. Last year it was March 15.
Hold on tight and stay tuned, the fun part is coming.
Be assured that making an untimely buy or sell is shared by many on this board and across the whole investment world. As market action is increasingly controlled by machines and MMs, who have special access to share demand, the average investor is caught in a maelstrom. Add to this SEC rules governing short term and long term transactions, one wonders if these apply to MMs and machines, a decision to buy or sell becomes fraught with consequences.
IMHO these issues are becoming increasingly irrelevant relative to WAVX. The evidence for WAVX success is rapidly building and SP should soon begin to reflect this.
I do not know and was not aware of any connection between WAVX and INVE. They sure do operate in the same "space."
Here is some background on INVE (share price $2.21):
Identive Group, Inc., formerly SCM Microsystems. Inc., is an international technology company focused on building the world’s signature group in secure identification-based technologies. The Company is comprised of a group of businesses with brands in their individual markets, which provide products and solutions in the areas of physical and logical access control, identity management and radio frequency identification (RFID) systems to governments, commercial and industrial enterprises, healthcare and consumers. The Company operated in two business segments: Identity Management Solutions and Services (ID Management) and Identification Products & Components. On May 2, 2011, the Company acquired idOnDemand, Inc. On July 18, 2011, the Company acquired polyright SA. In February 2012, the Company acquired majority interest in payment solution AG, a provider of integrated cashless payment systems for sports stadiums, arenas, theme parks and other venues for leisure and entertainment.
Buy it and then what?
Doesn't an authenticated machine (TPM active) plus an authenticated signature (e-sign) make an authentic vote?
60 Minutes this evening did an extensive report on internet security issues related to online voting. The presentation made it appear that there is no current solution to secure online voting. It would be nice to hear SS make it clear that there is a solution to this issue and that it is available now.
In that case there could be quite a few holders of up to 9.9% prior to SEC disclosure. Imagine a bidding war if one were to go above 10%.
Four simple questions:
Q1: If a company were to decide to acquire Wave Systems and then began a controlled buying program to accumulate shares, at what level would this company be required to make their intention public?
Q2: Could Apple, with its huge treasure chest, be accumulating under the radar?
Q3: Could the same be said for Dell or any other significant related enterprise?
Q4: What if such an underlying story were to become public?
One great and easy way to spread good news is to take advantage of the IHub Facebook link. This at least encourages friends, even friends of friends, and relatives of forward progress.
