awk-- very nice pamphlet indeed. Simple, straightforward, attactive and most importantly -- understandable at a multitude of levels.
Who here knows Fed. procurement rules?
I recall in the past that there were a few posters that had worked for the feds. or knew a bit about the federal procurement rules/system.
I did a little nosing around, and got the sense that the recent Army engineering services contract was likely in excess of $300,000 which is the current federal "Simplified Acquisition Threshold". If the intended sole source subcontract (now an issued P.O.) was less than $300K, I don't think it would have required the formal public posting of the notice of intent to sole source.
I sure could be wrong (a little knowledge is dangerous!), but I am thinking the Army P.O. is for an amount between $300K and $650K.
Hi Dig--
You said:
"I'm inclined to think that the mil has tested and piloted the matter fair bit on this, they have settled on the criteria, settled on a vendor, and are likely to enter into a contract that when all added up is well into 8-k land (and that assumes that the software itself isn't routing through NG)."
I agree with your inclination, and have little doubt that the total value of Wave's "business" with .mil is/will be quite large.
What I can't seem to get my head around is how this sole source award notice, which specifically indicates that the contract is for "engineering services", might also suggest to some that the PO will include the software itself. I think that your parenthetical reference to software being aquired separately through NG or another Federal vendor may be more likely than seeing the software being included as a part of this "engineering services" P.O.
I would very much like to see the P.O. (whenever it is finally issued) be for an 8 figure amount, and include more that just enginering services, but so far I am not convinced it will. I'd like to be wrong!
As-and-when-needed cash flow booster?
"An “at the market”, or ATM, offering program provides a potentially efficient means of raising measured amounts of equity capital over time by allowing a company to tap into the existing secondary market for its shares on an as-and-when-needed basis. Under an ATM offering program, an exchange-listed company incrementally sells newly issued shares into the trading market through a designated broker-dealer at prevailing market prices, rather than via a traditional underwritten offering of a fixed number of shares at a fixed price all at once. While some versions of these programs have been available for many years, their use and attractiveness have increased significantly over the past 2-3 years as a result of the Securities Act Reform regulations adopted by the SEC in December 2005, which streamlined the procedural hurdles for conducting an ATM offering."
MLV & Co is a boutique investment bank and institutional broker-dealer focused on providing independent financial advice and unique capital markets expertise to corporate and institutional clients in capital intensive industries such as metals and mining, life sciences, energy and real estate.
Eh? There's got to be a back story here, right?
WC and Weby-- Could this have been behind the Wave/NSA consulting contract?
A 38-member team is drawing up the guidelines, which will be based on a list of 20 cybersecurity controls developed two years ago by an independent panel of government and nongovernment experts.
Jake & Oknpv: Last week's Souren translation
Thanks for sorting through the wacky translation. I've been out for 6 days marrying off my son, and just checked the board. I appreciate you guys working through this.
Good to see a close at "high of day" today.

Really? (From BACC post) "Wave of the future will run very many vendors, a cold shiver down the back? Who makes it, in your opinion, the hardest?
I can not say whom this paradigm shift in my opinion will meet to see who will or who will catch him adjust. All I can say in my experience in this business is that the sale of the truth will always win the upper hand over the sale of a myth"
YW - Personally, I am hoping for more of a "warm and fuzzy" instead of a "cold shiver down the back"!!!
Nice close today!
---Steve
dig space/tkc - So, what about a LOC?
If Wave did obtain a line of credit to bridge them through the next year, I would receive it positively. Granted Wave has been way off in revenue projections in the past, but if they could obtain a reasonably favorable LOC, I would view it as the closest thihg to a firm acknowledgement of positive future revenues and profits.
Dig - both you and tkc (and a few others) have a strong grasp of the cash flow issues and needs, what do you think?
Very large Option volume traded today.
200 contracts (20,000 shares): April $5.00
103 contracts (10,300 shares): July $2.50
600 contracts (60,000 shares): July $5.00
Hmmmmm....
Hi Lugan-- I've sent links to the four articles to a few folks so far. Via conventional email. I don't twit/tweet or facebook.
Yesterday Alea suggested that I add at least one special post that Dig contributed to the board. Considering how much Dig has added over time, I am not sure which post Alea is referring to. If you, or anyone, can suggest the Dig post Alea refers to, or if there are any other complementary posts that belong with a shortlist of posts to be shared with friends and associates, please let me know. My goal is to have a limited number of links and/or posts that can summarize the current status of Waves position, its short and long term market, and especially the arrows (no longer dots), that point to Waves significant opportunities in the very near (< 6 months) period.
FWIW, last night I got an email response from one of my friends to whom I sent the articles.. Essentially he said that he was not sure how I had the patience to have continued to follow Wave for over a dozen years, but that the articles I sent paint a compelling picture, and he will (somewhat grudgingly) take another look.
Thanks, Alea. Dig has had so many insightful posts. If you (or anyone) can point me to the post you are thinking of, I will certainly include it.
---Steve
Many thanks, Alea.
Like many that have been here for a looong time, I have become reticent to even mention Wave to some of my friends and acquaintances. Yes, there is a core group of my friends and associates that, like me, have been holding, and even slowly acquiring for years. There are also others that gave up and walked away long ago.
After reading your post # 219046 from this morning, I put together a list of four posts from the last few months that I will now be sending to my friends that follow (or even may have stopped following) Wave.
While there are a myriad of past posts with awesome information and dots, I will be strongly suggesting that the following four posts be read in conjunction. Once read, each person can make their own decisions. I know what my decision is!
1. New Wave, Post # 215074 (9/24/11)
2. Dabears, Post # 218978 (12/11/11)
3. Weets, Post # 218986 (12/12/11)
4. Aleajactaest, Post # 219046 (12/13/11)
Thanks and good luck to all (although “luck” is becoming less of a requirement)!
---Steve
I see Wave selling scrambls down the line. The large social media companies would be able to monetize this service far more easily than Wave. What a great way to fill a donut hole or just fill the coffers.
I consider it a "proof of concept" trial over the coming months, and an asset to sell sometime next year.
Re blog: Very nice writing style. While SKS authored this blog entry, it seems as though he has finally enlisted editorial and style support.
For years, many of SKS's articles conveyed his message, but lacked refinement. Now that SKS and Wave Systems are reaching new and more sophisticated target audiences, this is a refreshing and much needed improvement.
Thank you awk. I'd given up trying to open Taxi's link, or cut and paste, or upgrade Adobe, etc. yesterday.
FWIW, another 1050 in solid hands yesterday, along with 5 July $5.00 calls just for grins.
Looking for a late December/January surge in SP to start the new year off on a nice climb.
YW
Taxi-- This link isn't working. I am very intersted in this article if you have a better link.
TIA
Will we see an 8-K re: Samsung?
If so, is it expected that this new "relationship" will be currently valued at greater than the $1,000,000 8-K thresshold alluded to by SKS in the recent call?
Muenchen/others— Dietikon, Switzerland support center??
What is known about the Wave “…support center in Dietikon, Switzerland.“ mentioned in the EMEA expansion announcements made by Wave. Is this truly an office? Who /what is supported out of that office? Upon a quick look, I see that Syslogic Ag is based there. Syslogic is an embedded systems builder. Is there a connection? Syslogic was also featured in a recent issue of Boards and Solutions magazine which has ties to ICC (a Wave collaborator).
FWIW, I happened to drive through the Dietikon area (Canton) a few years ago and the Wave EMEA announcement triggered my curiosity. Nothing more.
Thanks AWK, NW, Dig, WD, Alea, Vaca, weby, Taxi, mundo and all the others that have contributed so much and continue to contribute as the volcano continues to rumble. I have no doubt that there are a multitude of folks like me that have only a rudimentary understanding of the technologies (the trees), but see the forest quite clearly. (OK, starting to mix metaphors).
In any case, your contributions, opinions, speculations, dots, and general willingness to post are much appreciated by many.
steve
and... thanks to Weets, 'cause it's indeed coming!
Could this be tied to BEWML?
What was the clincher for that deal? Why was it not expected to close until late in the quarter? etc?
Just wondering. Hmmm.
How nice to be pleased & not disappointed!
I think I had become reluctant to expect positive financials. Hopefully it will be no more than 2 quarters to profitability.
GLTA!
---Steve
Huh? Is this +++ random, or is there a reason?
mundo-- Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It would be great if your prognostications are correct!
Mundo--- I haven't been following the NFC (MSFT/WAVE) line of dots that you've posted lately. Can you share what conects Wave, MSFT and NFC?
TIA,
---Steve
brant point: it's all related to Russell rebalancing. I wouldn't be surprised to see another 1M shares or more after hours. Things will settle don on Monday.
XXXX and Alea – Thanks for the reply. The good news to me upon seeing the Dell/VA deal was my impression that Wave should presumably get the +/- $1.00 per ETS for all 600,000 units. The uncertainty that caused me to ask the question of how you arrived at a $30M+ estimate was twofold: 1) will these include SED’s and thus hopefully ERAS seats, and 2) if ERAS is a part of the VA deal with Dell (for all 600,000 units or maybe just for the “Advanced PC’s), then wouldn’t it be fair to assume that the typical +/- $50 per ERAS would be reduced substantially due to the volume of this deal? I have no way of even guessing the amount of a reduction for a deal of this volume (I'm far from the tech world), but even $25 per seat wouldn’t surprise me. Of course, that’s still a lot of: 1) money, 2) validation, 3) ammunition for future sales/marketing.
OK, back to lurking, trying to understand what the extraordinary posters here are actully saying, and waiting for real revenue announcements (not just “Presentations”)
Y’all have a great day.
RWK (or Alea) - Can you expand on how you arrived at those rather significant estimates/numbers?
Thanks in advance.

re: timing of new regs: I think Dig articulated it quite well in a post last week. Can't find the post... but...
The new regs are becoming effective now, and going forward the short sellers will have 13 days after selling to locate and settle. However, it is unclear if/how/when the past/pre-existing naked shorts will be affected.
Personally I've tried to tune out most of the talk about how the new short regs will affect the wavx share price over the short, er, near term.
If I am wrong (quite likely :) ), I am all ears!
my 2 cents....
Last night's AH trades really baffle me now.
My understanding is that AH trades cannot be placed "at market". They need to be limit orders. If this is correct, then someone knew that they were buying over 30,000 shares at up to $4.25.
Oh, well. In the long run, it should be a very good buy.
pep-- they came across my scottrade as increasing from 3.95 to 4.25, despite all being at the exact same second. It appeared to me that whoever wanted in just bought whatever was at the AH ask, up to $4.25.
OK, deep breath, exhale, wait for tomorrow and maybe, just maybe, something may be happening.
WOW. AH just traded at $4.25!
Haven't looked any further yet. This is astonishing. Looks like someone bought all AH offers at $3.95, 4.01, 4.07, 4.12, and 10500 shares at 4.25.
(OT) kris-- my free PM allotment is over...
Please stick around! I am quite interested in your perspective, and I think others are as well!
Thanks.
Weby--- See my post # 203462. A broker friend told me she first recommended Wave on December 20th. Apparently she is now upping her target! I'm good with another double!
Take care, and many thanks for all you do!
Today plays out really well...
SKS and Wave get some great exposure this morning, and for those new to Wave, they get an opportunity to listen to the webcast of the Needham presentation this afternoon to get a far more in- depth presentation. Investors that saw the CNBC interview now have time to do some quick research about Wave and many will see that there is a more detailed discussion later in the day.
Frankly, I think that this is great. SKS shares just enough to get some folks interested in learning more, then fires another volley this afternoon.
Additionally, over the coming days and weeks, Wave is on a lot of radars that previously weren't picking up Wave signals. Now, when news (and more news) does come out, the follow-on will be hitting a far larger audience.
How sweet it is!
Snackman--- Did you get the paper yet? Have a great day!
If there is news tomorrow, I will be surprised. There may be news Friday, or next week, but I doubt that Wave could know about news for a few days and postpone announcing it until after they present at Needham and on TV.
The ostensible purpose of tomorrow is to go over the recent news, share the tremendous opportunities that Wave has, and describe how Wave fits into NSTIC. Also, it would be beneficial to drop some nice names like NSA, PWC, maybe the name of the suto maker, etc.
Just my two cents.
Good one Dig Space... That's just after he gets the morning paper!
Smells like possibly more news tomorrow... but how many times has that been said? :)
Good to see Lady X. P does = P !
Did I miss some news?
Be careful of margin!
Now that Wavx closed above $4.00, it is marginable at more brokerages. Last Spring, this caused a lot of immediate buying and SP increase that was later walked down, resulting ultimately in margin calls.
As Snackman has warned for years.....Beware of margin!
If you really must margin to buy Wavx, be sure to use margin from your non-wavx equities. This way, a close below $4.00 won't cause a call.
Anyone ever hear of Buried Treasures Under $10? Some sort of subscription newsletter. Apparently it recommended Wave as a buy last Monday morning, with a recommendation to buy at up to $3.80.
it was a good call!
But then, I was recommending Wave as well! :) And, i still am!
