Bure (55): inauguration of the platform of pretreatment of biomass

Announced in March 2010, this unit embodies the first step of the future Syndiese demonstrator who should lead, in 2018, on the construction of a plant of second-generation biofuels BtL (Biomass to Liquid). The investment amounted to EUR 22 million.
With this factory, it will be to meet the European requirements to use at least 2.5% of energy from second and third generation biofuels in transport in 2020. The objective is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. One area on which works the CEA a decade via various programs of research and development in the context of the "energy mix of the future".
Unique in the world
The first stage of this project corresponds to the phase of conversion "Biomass to syngas" (BtS) and she gives birth today to Syndiese-BtS, a first phase carried out in close collaboration between the CEA and the Air Liquide group.
"Initially, we had to work on this specific aspect with the German company Choren, methods for the gasification party funder, explains to The Usine Nouvelle the Syndies Program Manager, Thierry pinky. But it has ceased all operations and we have had to revise our plans while remaining always equally ambitious on this project based on the transformation of a forest lignocellulosic resource, which is not in competition with food."
Thierry Puissieux also notes that by mobilizing internally CEA research teams and adding the expertise of Air Liquide, the project involved now "to the reindustrialisation of France with a French technology, a real rupture innovation".
The Deputy Head of the Commissariat à l'energie Atomique, Bernard Bigot, was invited to 12/13 Lorrain to speak of this new project of biofuel plant.
Charlie,
You may know this, but you can trade FASC on E*trade.

Sleepin',
OT. As I've told another poster, a charmer, you may want to try one of the Linux distibutions (I use Mint). They are open source and better than Windows in many respects: (1) They are free and continually updated. (2) They are faster and require less of your computer. (3) Generally, they are free of hackers (E.G.,you won't get those pesky ad's popping up on, e.g. iHub. (4) They've got their own version of programs that people pay Microsoft and other companies for (E. g. they've got a free word processor which, if you want to, can read and save the various editions of Word). Some of their programs are inferior, but most are superior. If you are seriously interested in art or music, get a Mac. (6) You will be interested to know that a distribution will include a PDF reader.
There are many sites which give information about Linux (E.g. "Distrowatch.").
Guido
OT: Sam & Charlie,
I have windows 7 on my lap-top and Linux on my desk-top. If you've never considered using Linux, let me recommend that you try it. The command line scares people away, but nowadays most distributions (egg., Ubuntu, Mint, etc) are mainly point and click in usage. And all distributions are free and regularly updated for free. And all that I'm familiar with are better in operation and more elegant visually than Windows. I mention this because linux machines rarely have malware problems. On my laptop I use linux mint on an external hard drive in addition to the Windows 7 installed on the internal hard drive.
Guido
Charlie,
I use Chrome, but I don't have any problems.

I wish all on the iHub board a happy new year (My wife and I spend our Christmas holiday in Italy, where they say, “Buon anno”). And I wish to say that I am entirely responsible for whatever risk there is for me in FASC, while I'm grateful, in particular, to TR, Net-Man, Charlie and TKL for all the work they do.

Moderators: It seems to me that the reasons for deleting to-da-moon posts would be the same as those for deleting to-da-toilet posts like those of bladelawless.
Back to lurking.
