I also purchased 100K near EOD for .031
I only need 100K more to join the 500K club but will have to wait a month to save more money to do so.
My average so far is .053
I am only dishartened by the low volume that I am seeing but figure this is my long term investment and its only a matter of time (possibly a long time) before this stock flies.
Good point! I agree - NAK may not want to JV with a company that has toxic shareholders!
Who are these extremely wealthy resort bastards that you speak of? I want some names! Can we get some names and faces as to who these people are!
Wishing all a prosperous New Year!!
Even if Brisko is not allowed to disclose any details of the negotiations while they are in progress, - there is no excuse for him not to at least acknowledge his shareholder with a simple letter.
It could state that he thanks us all for our interest and support... that the company is in good shape to move forward... and that he is continuing in his process of negotiations... Happy holidays and wishing you a profitable New Years...
Something along those lines is only common curtesy.
Brisko reminds me of the one member of the family who is really to lazy to remember anyones birthday or let alone Christmas.
Bah humbug!!!!!
Why aren't the Chinese coming to us? The mining claims are over here. Why does Brisco have to go over there? Could it be that they have something to sell us?
Gold is $ 1,414.50 - WOW!!!!
Interesting how NAK significantly dropped at the close at the same time LBSR jumped!
Political and economic risk valuation in mining contracts.
I am long LBSR, don't flip, have don't like the concept of shorting anything. So having said that - its not my intention to convey the following information as negative.
It is my belief that some of the posters are presenting unrealistic valuations of the mineral wealth of LBSR claims.
In mining contracts, a countries political and economic risk is taken into consideration when trying to determine the value of what is in the ground. For example: a mine that can produce for 100 years will not be valued for all the minerals that can be exploited in that 100 year period. Generally if it is a lease contract in the US, a value will be placed on only what can be exploited in say 25 years. Why? Because of political and economic risk. The longer the contract the greater the chance that there may be changes in the business or political environment that affect the operations or the value of the assets. A mine that can produce for 100 years may not be worth too much more than a mine that can only produce for 25 years. Every country has a different risk factor and virtually no one is willing to pay much more than what can be exploited over a thirty year time period. The amount of minerals in the caldera is so vast that I dont forsee all of them being exploited within the next 30 years unless there are multiple mining operations all working at the same time. Im not sure what the current status is on US risk factor but the long term risk of doing business in the US is probably higher now than it was 20 years ago. You must also take into account that it will take 2-3 years to do the licensing and paperwork, feasability studies etc. and another 2-3 years to develop the mine.
I believe that LBSR has one of the highest leverage of any stock that is out there, but let us also be realistic.
Q: Who benefits from a sideways price action on the pp's at 4-5 cents?
A: Anyone trying to negotiate a buyout would benefit!
Is there a possibility that the MM's keeping the PP's at 4-5 cents are associated with a large mining company or companies that want to buy us out and don't want the PP's togo too high while they are negotiating a price?
In my opinion: If the caldera contains enough mineral wealth to get us out of our debt obligations to foreingn entities then our government and the various federal reserve regional banks would have a keen interest in this project. If we were a socialist country, the mineral wealth would be nationalized, the army core of engineers would develop the project and the army could be mobilized to work the mine. National Debt Solved!!! We apparently are not socialist - at least not yet. But since this may become the biggest mine in the world I would be willing to bet that our government and FED are involved either directly or indirectly. Just think - this project could replace the possible missing gold in Fort Knox. Just my opinion.
The mind simply believes what you tell it most!
I purchased 20K more shares. Wish I could buy more. I'll make another deposit when my bank opens so I can buy more. These prices are a blessing.
Does anyone out there have any idea of what is up at Bonanza Hill. Was there any ZTEM done up there. Any guesses?
Just some simple math.
If pebble has approx 94 million oz of gold and big chunk may have 6 times that amount (564 million oz of gold) then together they would have about 658 million oz of gold or about 20,562 tons of gold.
At the current market price for gold approx $1,340 per oz then the value of the gold up there would be more than 880 billion dollars.
As of May 2009 the US owed China 772 billion in US denominated instruments.
In other words the gold up there alone could pay off what we owe the Chinese.
I would suspect that this finding is a high priority interest in Washington and it would not surprise me if the feds are in in some way negotiating something with the parties involved.
p.s. The Fed claims it has 8,133.5 tons of gold reserves (but has not allowed anyone to see this gold in 50 years).
Here are 108 analysts that think gold will go through the roof.

Thanks for the link to the Bonanza Hills Project. That sounds like another Liberty Star Claim with huge potential not too far from big chunk. This stock is a buy and hold. Im willing to wait a few years. It sounds like the Bonanza Hills Project would only have minimal environmental impact compared to pebble (based on its location).
I have heard some hearsay that Liberty Star has another claim in Alaska further away from Big Chunk that appears to resemble the Pebble Caldera. Is this true? Does anyone have other information about this?
European Central Banks have halted the sale of their gold reserves. The news is being kept very quiet over hear.
Has anyone followed the news that on Sept 26th the European Central Banks have halted the sale of their gold reserves. The news is being kept very quiet over hear.
Gold at 1305.90 a new high and up $11.30 since yesterday.
I read these posts and I read panic and fear. "GOOD" - Thats a good sign! It means that this stock will soon go through the roof!
If we want more enthusiasm from the general public about this stock we need to post occasionally on the yahoo finance site- that is where most people who are not very familiar with this stock go first. Since the investors hub board has become popular with those who already own this stock - no one is posting anything at the yahoo board and anyone who goes there would think that there is no interest in this stock.
Gold is at $1,279.90
Very low volume!
I agree - gold is up almost $6 today. If gold goes up then stock in gold mining companies goes up much faster. The new high in the price of gold will bring much more awareness to this stock.
Gold is at 1269.00 per ounce
Some more information in reference to post 25255:
Martin Schlaff is an Austrian Billionaire suspected of ilicit funding of Israeli politicians.
Cerberus Capital Management is a limited partnership run by Steven Feinberg of New York. J Ezra Merkin is a partner and John W. Snow (George W. Bushes Treasury Secretary) is chairman.
Don't know if this means anything but I found it interesting:
This site claims that BAWAG (Bank fur arbeit und Wirttschaft) has an ownership interest in Alpha. capitol.
http://www.thestreet.com/stocks/brokerages/10263425.html
Bawag's ownership interest in Alpha Capital, for instance, is disclosed just twice, in the Aug. 30, 2002, and Sept. 9, 2002, filings for Eagle Supply Group. The filings describe Alpha Capital as a "private investment fund owned by Bank fur Arbeit und Wirstchaft [sic] and Leguas Stiftung, a private family trust.''
In most of the filings, the only information provided for Alpha Capital is an address in Lichtenstein and a contact person, usually a man named Konrad Ackerman, who is identified as a director. Sometimes, LH Financial Services Corp. is listed as the representative for Alpha Capital.
It took another round of searching to discover that Leguas Stiftung is the family trust of Martin Schlaff, a billionaire Austrian businessman and one of Bawag's wealthiest customers. Schlaff also controls Balmore, a British Virgin Islands-based hedge fund that has invested in a number of PIPEs deals along with the Bawag affiliates.
And according to wikipedia "BAWAG" has had some shady history.
As a result of the losses and subsequent investigations, criminal charges were filed against a number of BAWAG executives. Several people were found guilty and convicted. Helmut Elsner, former chief executive of Bawag, was found guilty of breach of trust, fraud and false accounting and was sentenced to nine and a half years in prison. The judge also ordered him to repay Bawag €6.8 million in pension benefits.
The defendants also included the Bawag executive Johann Zwettler and the investment banker Wolfgang Flöttl, who was based in the United States. Zwettler was given a five-year sentence. Flöttl was sentenced to 10 months. Six others were given various sentences.
In December 2006, US-based Cerberus Capital Management bought the bank for €3.2 billion.
Who are the directors or CEO's of the company's representing the plaintiffs in the Law Suit. I would like to do some further investigation on them?
I urge all investors not to concern themselves with this suit. To do so is to give credibility to legal extortion. Lets not put pressure on Liberty Star to settle anything. If we treat this as a non event and allow Liberty Star to do what they need to do to win this case even if it takes two or more years then we are doing the right thing. Its unfortunate but all to often frivolous law suits are used as leverage for settlement when in fact there is really nothing to settle. I don't expect this suit to be settled. I expect this to take a very long time. If either party wants to stall - it can be stalled for a very long time. Some attorneys are hired just for that very reason. It is most likely in the interest of the bond holders to stall but If we recognize BS for what it is then it should no have a bearing on the stock price.
