Jagdeep: Look, I mean, it’s very hard to predict the future because no-one has a crystal ball. But I will say this, there aren’t many times in one’s life where you have an opportunity to work on something this big and disruptive. I mean, the automotive industry is one of the largest industries in the world. In Germany, a big portion of the GDP, if you add up all the different elements, is related to the automotive space, the car companies and the suppliers and the services, and so on. Maybe one in seven jobs might come from that sector in general. So, it’s a very, very important sector. And that’s true for most countries that have an automotive sector – the US, Japan, China, and so on.
The opportunity to transform the power trades of this sector doesn’t come around very often. In fact, this is only the second time in the hundred past years that you have an opportunity to transform. The combustion engine has been around for over a hundred years, and this is a wholesale transformation of this industry. There are a hundred million cars sold every year, roughly speaking, only about two percent of them are electrified today. Which means 98% of the market is still unaddressed. This transformation will take decades, and in the process, whoever is the winner in the battery space is going to be creating a multi hundred billion dollar company. So, it’s a massive opportunity. It’s not the case where you can just say, oh great, we’ll leave this, go find another one and do it again, because these kinds of things don’t come along very often.
The second thing is, if you’re interested, like our team is, in impacting climate, impacting emissions, this is one of the most important opportunities there is to do that, at scale. This is not just a matter of saying small changes like use less disposable plastics and so on, this is pretty central source of carbon emissions, and it needs to be addressed. So, the combination of transforming one of the largest industries in the world, creating a multi hundred billion dollar company, making a really big environmental impact, all at the same time, makes it kind of a unique opportunity and one where I think the whole team here is very, very committed to seeing this all the way.
So, until we have real cars on the road with this technology in them, we’re going to be people on a mission here.

Looks like our closest competitor is a private company called Solid Power based in Colorado. Has partnerships with Ford and Hyundai.

I’m surprised as well. I think it’s because information regarding this particular spac has been tough to find and not always accurate. As in the case of this clip from an article about M&A in the cannabis industry from Alan Brocstein, where he incorrectly refers to the resulting merger of Caliva and Left Coast Ventures as becoming Silver Spike instead of The Parent Company. Here is the clip from the article:
One state that we think is likely to be the hottest is California. The market was slow to develop, but it has had solid growth over the past several months. Looking ahead, retail store openings and the expansion of delivery services are likely to drive further growth. The pace of M&A has already accelerated. Cresco Labs acquired Origin House in early 2020, and, more recently, Columbia Care closed the acquisition of Project Cannabis. The pending merger of Caliva and Left Coast Ventures into the Silver Spike SPAC, a deal that is expected to close in January, could inspire other large MSOs, largely absent from the market, to get involved. One that comes to mind is Curaleaf. Its incoming CEO, Joseph Bayern, essentially said so in a recent interview with New Cannabis Ventures. Green Thumb Industries, which has a small presence in California but has been cautious thus far, could get more aggressive in 2021.

On CNBC's "Mad Money Lightning Round," Jim Cramer said he believes in Charlie Scharf, the CEO of Wells Fargo & Co (NYSE: WFC). (The Federal Reserve Board gave banks the greenlight to restart share buybacks after the market close Friday.)
MasTec, Inc. (NYSE: MTZ) is a winner, said Cramer. He likes infrastructure plays.
Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) could go to $200, said Cramer. He likes Deere & Company (NYSE: DE) more.
Cramer likes Velodyne Lidar Inc (NASDAQ: VLDR) for that crowded space.
Tupperware Brands Corporation (NYSE: TUP) is too hard to own, said Cramer. If he had bought it at a lower price, he would be selling now.
Cramer would hold on to Freeport-McMoRan Inc (NYSE: FCX) even though it has already doubled.

You don’t always get the full amount of time to exercise warrants either. The company can call for the warrants to be exercised earlier then the 5 years as in the case of Rubicon Organics just a couple days ago.
Correct. At this moment in time, IMO, if you want shares, cheaper to just buy the shares. If your looking to the future, and think someday The Parent Co. will be trading at $50 a share, then warrants make sense to buy. I would just rather buy warrants when the value is more on par with the shares. IE: if shares where trading at $20 and warrants were $8.00, then there would inherently be value in the warrants.
Maybe in the future when warrants value makes more sense. Right now a warrant costs $1.90, then to exercise the warrant and turn it into an actual share would cost another $11.50 which equals $13.40 total. Right now, I can just buy a share for $10.13. So it costs over $3 more to acquire a share through the exercise of a warrant that to just buy a share on the open market.

Solid state is not new news huh.....you got a solid state battery running any electronic device that you own. I don’t.
Of course we know there are other battery companies out there. Even others working on a solid state battery. However, QuantumScape is the ONLY company that has demonstrated to have solved the problems related to solid state batteries. Plus they have the patents on their solutions to this 40 year old problem. Plus they have enough money behind them to bring this to scale and production. Solid state is considered the holy grail of next generation of batteries by the experts. QuantumScape is bringing this next giant leap forward in battery tech to market first. The market is forward looking & THE FUTURE IS SOLID!
A little bit of consolidation here is healthy IMO. Bring the rsi down a bit before mad money appearance on Monday. I think whoever said it’s like a second battery day, they are exact right. The you tube presentation or battery day1 did have 44,000 views, but how many viewers watch mad money? I’d guess a whole lot more!

Cramer is a shock jock entertainer
I’m invested in QS because of the people involved (Bill Gates, JB Straubel, & VW), & the fact that all the battery experts agree that a solid state lithium battery is the holy grail of battery tech & the next leap forward for EV cars and all electronics. The experts have thought this since the 70’s many have tried since then and only now has anyone figured it out. That being said, the battery world has waited almost 50 yrs for this tech to become a reality, I can wait a few more knowing I’m in at ground level. Just EV battery market is estimated $500bil/yr by 2025! Add phones, laptops, and all the other consumer electronics in. Add in electric aviation that JB Straubel hinted at during the presentation.
I know that there is a cashless exercise clause. If in the case that Quantumscape calls for the warrants to be exercised, you will have 90 days to use cash to pay the $11.50 to get your share or if you don’t want to pay the cash, the warrants will be redeemed on a cashless basis with each warrant receiving roughly 1/3 of a share. So if you buy warrants, you may be forced to exercise the warrants at Quantumscapes request, and if you don’t have the 11.50/share cash, they will be exercised in the cashless manner.
Trades under the symbol QS+
I believe so. That’s the same way I’m looking at it. I don’t mind waiting to exercise my warrant until June. It’s not that far away. When that day comes, warrant holders cash in while the common gets diluted. Meanwhile, the warrants are going up just as much percentage wise as the common shares. So same same on the daily gains. I can sell the warrants just like the common at any time I like and take gains.
I know. Warrants are at a crazy deal right now. I just bought more warrants on this afternoon dip. I don’t care if I can’t exercise them until June 2021. By then QS might be $500/share
Looks like warrants will be able to be exercised June 21 ish
I think Jagdeep said the materials they would need to start manufacturing can be made by existing companies and then available to Quantum scape in enough quantity to start their production in 18-24 months. I think VW is going to be helping with production too
CF are the common shares and QF are the warrants which are exercised on a 1 warrant share plus $11.50 equals 1 common share.
Highest volume here ever. When the symbol was GRAF the most traded was 15mil. Today was double that.
I believe in the presentation they said 18-24 months for the start of production.
Next leap in battery tech.....who knows....they estimate just the EV battery market to be 500b by 2025. Plus all the other consumer goods that use batteries.
Do JB Straubel and Elon get along? JB was talking about electric aviation in the presentation today!
End of week
Breaking 70. Their battery is the holy grail.
Thank you. I’m just starting to watch the presentation. That makes sense about the expanding and contracting of the lithium. I came across that concept while I was doing my DD over the last month and I was wondering about the expansion. This company has me all kinds of giddy inside.
I didn’t get a chance to watch the presentation yet. Thing called a JOB got in my way. Did they talk at all about how they are going to ramp up production and commercialization of the batteries?
Once you exercise a warrant, you would then own one full share of QS
Not your cup of tea? That’s fine. I personally like buying things at half their value, knowing I will be able to get a higher value for it down the road.
The exercise price is set at $11.50 and the warrants are good for 5 years I believe. Now a warrants costs $15.50. Plus $11.50 when you exercise. Total cost of a share of QS would be $27. That warrant can be exercised for the next 5 years.
Link to video presentation.
One way to get shares cheaper right now is to buy warrants. Trading at $14.75 +$11.50 when the warrant is exercised. Would put the cost of a share at $26.25. Like buying at half the cost.
About damn time
The merger was finalized about a week ago
