This board used to be an top notch EW Board, however with all these childish and divisive cartoons, etc. the vitriol here has become offensive. Too bad, as an registered Independent I shall look else where for EW information and education. Thank you and Good-by!
POKER - How do we access your webb site? Thanks - Blue
Looks like BAC is going to sell 105,000,000 shares at $6.24 filed Feb 3, 09.
Joe, Thank you for the information that you sent on the "Buy and Hold" Preferreds. I'm sure the information is worth much more than what I paid for it :) Also, hope the wife is feeling better. - Marty
Hi Joe, I am looking at a "buy and hold" strategy for Preferred shares, can you recommend a few issues (wfc, etc.) thanks. Marty
Zeev - Great News! You are and will continue to be constantly in my prayers! God Bless!
Jim, Many thanks and take care of yourself ..... Blue
Jim - Thanks for your take on Convertible Preferred vs. Preferred. Are there any Convert. Preferred issues that you have in mind that might be profitable in 2008?
My thought on RBS is that it (1) won't go bankrupt (2) that it currently pays an 8% dividend (3) that it is trading about $20.00 per share (a 20% discount to redemption value - call 2009) (4) that the 8% dividend is taxed at a 15% rate vs. regular dividend rate.
Again, Thank you for your help and your posts on this board - I look forward to your thoughts.....Blue
Jim - Nice play on your AES Preferred C ! Please give me your thoughts on RBS Preferred M and F , PUK Preferred and PUK Preferred A. Many thanks for your observations during 2007. I wish you and yours a Happy and HEALTHY New Year.....Blue
Hi Lee, Just back from Maine, Camden area, great time, WOW did I miss an interesting week! All my Best to the Captain and Miss Suzy - Blue
Morning Lee - Well, hope you and Miss Suzy had a nice afternoon at the pool, we really enjoyed your company yesterday morning, when I fed the Comets this a.m. they were all "smiling", don't know why, maybe because they outsmarted us! Oh, by the way, you did catch three of my invisible Comets, make sure you take good care of them. Glad you got the cat-o-nine tails, they give "character" to a Koi pond. Good luck with the YM's today.....Blue
Tuna - Haven't seen any posts from Zeev, Last week he was due for his "Hemlock" treatment, sure hope his treatments is going well - we should all keep him in out thoughts and prayers this week! Good Luck today ..... Blue
Hi Lee, (back from church and visiting the Grandchildren in Uxbridge) - Orvis has some good suggestions regarding pond heaters! I had six Koi that grew to 20" long, we used to feed them crickets "by hand" We Lost them three years ago, when the pond froze nearly to the bottom. We were so "heartsick" that we just could not bring ourselves to buy more Koi right away.
Instead, we bought six Comets (they are Goldfish, about 6" - 7" long, they are very much like Koi and feed on the top.
What I did was to use an electric "pond heater", plug an extension cord into a regular outlet and leave it "on" all winter! It is shaped like a donut, plastic, floats on top of the pond, and is 12" in diameter. It is thermostaticly controlled so this winter you won't have to trudge out to the pond and wake the "Good" Captain up.
I was told that the reason my Koi died was not due to a lack of oxygen, but due to a buildup of methane gas that is prevented from escaping the water due to the ice. My pond is about 20" deep, anything deeper than that requires a fence here in Hopkinton.
By the way, those 6 Comets have now multiplied into 23 Comets, some large and some small, and due to their breeding habits I now have Gold, White, and Gold/White. (of course I also have green, red, blue and pink ones but only I can see THEM, something like your invisible ones).
Since we are neighbors I would be happy to to give you 6 of them. You could come over, see out Pond and Garden, and I am sure Annette would be happy to make us coffee & muffins to have on the back deck.
Give me a call at (508) 435-3005 and we can set something up.....Blue
Lee - How big are your Koi and what do you plan on doing with them this winter? I had Koi in the past and do know a little about them - since we are your neighbors in Hopkinton please let me know if I may be of assistance. ( I must admit that I do not have any experience with INVISIBLE Koi). Give Captain Mato a scratch or two for me..... Blue
Tuna - Sounds OK to me, you seem to be doing quite well with your Chinese stocks, keep up the good work! Best of Luck - Blue
Tuna - Did not get "in depth" with the numbers BUT the difference of $1,320,000 from Q4 to Q1 allowed them to show an increased profit in Q1 - 07. Without that drastic drop in Selling/admin Exp. they would have shown substantially less profit (30%) than in Q4 - 06 Blue
Tuna -Be careful TBYH - check their Income Statement for March 07 their Selling and administrative costs were $166,000 vs 1,298,000 in the December quarter (doesn't make a lot so sense to me BUT it did allow them to beat the Dec. quarter) Just a Heads Up ! Blue
Lee - I put in a koi pond for my wife several years ago, tried chemicals, all kinds of junk - the only thing that worked for me was Barley Grass! The Barley grass can be purchased at some Garden Centers or Farmers Exchange, they look like giant sausages, are 12" long, 4" in diam. and encased in nylon mesh.
The more sun you have the more you are likely to have algae.
Good Luck - Blue
Canny - Many thanks.....Blue
Thanks West, Jerry - Good advice! I will keep a close eye on the "board" as to the correct time to "pull the trigger" Many thanks to all who responded.....Blue
Thanks Jerry (Early too), I have resisted pulling the trigger on shorts (but my finger has been getting mighty itchy) Been long several preferred issues and mid-caps but with rates trending up have let the preferreds go. Just have a feeling that "a shoe is about to drop" Thanks again.....Blue
Zeev, Jerry, Canny, I need help! Can't seem to make any money long the QID what with Apple etc. Does anybody have a shorting strategy other than QID? Perhaps DJIA, Naz or some other index. TIA - Blue
Zeev - Happy Fathers Day! We certainly are having nice enough weather, hope that you enjoy your family on this beautiful Sunday. You are constantly in my prayers for a full and complete recovery from your affliction, all the Very Best to you and yours.....Blue
Lee- Many thanks - Blue
Good Morning Lee, I often marvel watching you trade the YM's - do you know if I can trade them on E*Trade and what the symbol is? I don't hear you mention the little "Mato" much anymore, hope she is OK - Blue
Lee - It is Good Friday - The markets are closed! Happy Easter.....Blue
Zeev - Again my prayers and hopes will be with you and your family, I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach when you used the term "massive battle" we are all "pulling" for you in your time of travail - Blue
Zeev - My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during your time of travail, "Best Wishes" for a positive outcome to your situation. Be well my friend.......Blue
Lee - I emailed you yesterday morning, but when you didn't get back to me I thought that you took "Mato" out to pea and you fell down and froze to death. At the time of the email it was 4 degrees with a wind chill of minus 23 degrees here in Hopkinton, not that far from Douglas. Glad to see that you are back among the "living" - Blue
Lee - Here I was all worried about your little "Mato" and she is a 100 pounder, I think the Fox should look out for her! What kind of dog is "Mato", cold as hell here in Hopkinton this a.m. 13 degrees - wind chill 9 degrees below zero! Keep that little "Princess" warm - Blue
John D - The symbol on E Trade is NLY.PR.A - Blue
Lee - Be careful when you take "Mato" out to wizz, I let Rocky (my 7 pound Pomeranian) out a while back and there was a fox not 30 feet away. Now I go out too so I can "watch his back". Also have seen Coyotes here in Hopkinton, we are not that far from Douglas, so keep your eyes pealed, you wouldn't want to lose your sweet little "Mato". - Blue
'JimQuince! Perhaps it might be wise to look at the Preferreds on some of these stocks - NLY-A pays 7.85% and sells at just about "par". The common shares would have to forgo a dividend before it would affect the Preferred shares. Just a thought! - Blue
West - Thanks for the info! Blue
Westpacific - You were going to supply me with a little information regarding MVO, now that it is back in the $22's I am interested again. Many thanks - Blue
Westpacific I am interested in the American Oil Trust MVO. Can you tell me where to get more information on this Trust. Thanks - Blue
Plugger - Thanks a lot, I have always watched Lee make his Ym's trades and it looks interesting, again, thanks for your good info. - Blue
Lee - Thanks, I am having a hard time finding anything on E*Trade, will continue looking - Plugger also gave me good info too! Will get back to you by email if I need More help :) Many thanks - Blue
Lee - Please advise what the symbol for the ym's is - Thanks Blue
Joe Stocks - Thanks, that was the site that I was looking for, just had a mental block. Again, thanks.....Blue
