Hi All:
Although I have not been very active on here for the last few years, I did join this board back on 1/3/2003 and I have enjoyed many of your comments. Thanks to JimLur, Data, m3s, Dzr and many others for your thoughtful commentary.
I certainly wish you longs nothing but the best, I was a long for a long time but I have now changed course, at least for the present.
Best to all!
UptickTim
Let's hope he has big hands as well...
I have been quietly following for some time now; don't think I have actually posted in the last 5 or 6 years. But it has been fun the last little while and today something definitely kick started.
Congrats to all the longs who I have been rooting with since circa 2001. This has a very real feel to it.
Go IDCC!
Uptick
Clearly not tall, and I don't get the impression he is long...LOL!
Well, I will admit that I was kind of discouraged about dear old IDCC in 2013, but I am feeling the fun return in 2014. Loved the finish today; the last 5 minutes was really fun.
Congrats to all the longs!
And I do think the best is yet to come!

Can someone explain to me why TDAmeritrade says I cannot buy this stock because of a DTC chill?
If that is the case, how does one buy this stock?
Thanks.
Great find Whizzer! I would say you are bang on with your analysis. I am not so sure the judge will agree with Sammy and staff on their perspective, which certainly helps explain the motivation in Sammy continuing negotiations to avoid the judge's determination.
best,
Uptick
Ditto that. You guys were awesome to take on that assignment!
Uptick
Zip: I agree that the staff report may give the perception that Sammy has gained some leverage, but the Judge can dispell that in a single phrase off the record in chambers if he so choses.
Long IDCC!

Wow! I canot believe so many overreaction to the news! No wonder people have heart attacks over stock market news. Never really understood it before today (as I came in to IDCC a bit after MOT).
I appreciate those that are saying that they are staying put at present, as I am doing the same. I appreciate those who have told us they sold, as your position is now understood as well. However, if you sold and are now out of the stock, instead of just screaming, please move on. You may be angry, but you are not angry with us, unless you just stick around until you find someone who you decide you are somehow justified in being angry at. Don't mean be be a shrink, after all, I am a lawyer. But I thought infinite_q's comments were well tempered and well constructed.
As stated, I am sitting tight. Hold on for a ride!!
Best,
Uptick
Just catching up with the 2nd Circuit order for the Friday the 13th filings. While I am a bit unnerved every time one of these Friday the 13th rolls around, I completely agree with Whizzer's comments and think this may be just what I need to overcome my Friday the 13th phobia! I too shall sleep well from now until then and then maybe even party a bit that night!
btw, Go Celtics!
Best,
Uptick
Nice to see the group in such fine spirits yesterday post annual meeting. Sounds like a very good annual meeting and alot to be positive about! Today was a tough day on the market generally which I thought we actually weathered quite well.
I have not commented in some time on the legal stuff (or otherwise for that matter) but I do check in and the group has been getting fine legal commentary already. Hope all the longs enjoy the days ahead!
Bulldzr: Nice you to see you back in the saddle again buddy!
Best to all longs!
UpTick
Lurker or not, you did noble service today!
Thanks...
now, I am back to lurking!
It reminds me of the old commercial:
You can pay me now or you can pay me later...With the strategy you just outlined, I think Sam may decide that sooner is better than later!
Best,
Uptick
That's okay Nic, I am sure Bulldzr understands...it just seems that we are all getting feisty as we appear to be STUCK here at $33 for a second day...LOL
OT to Bulldozer: My nephew went to Rice so even tho I be way up here in NH I am happy to root them on. Best to you and yours and stay dry down there in Houston!
I do just love this:
Using that
example, if by 2010, we can derive revenue from 75% of the 3G terminal units sold, at average
royalty rates that based on our experience are achievable, our annual revenue could approach
$700 million. Achieving this level of revenue combined with the significant inherent operating
leverage in our business model could generate substantial earnings and cash flow.
That is not a pipe dream. It is one we truly believe we can achieve. We have a clear vision. We
have a company aligned to that vision. We have the cash to drive it and we have the will to do it.
Thanks Loop. That was just a pleasure to read.
With all due respect to Ronnie, Olddog and JimLur's recent insights, you hit enough nails on the head to build a house. UB does appear to be taking a marked and measured course as he moves the company forward in what can only be viewed as a new and positive fashion.
Where is our old buddy who would wish you all: "Tight lines"! Hope Malko and his loved ones are well and able to enjoy these recent events.
Best to you all.
Uptick Tim
Simply put, we are continuing to put the shares in stronger hands...and that is good news.
OT to Loop: Thanks for sharing the Classic Percy story. You had both me and my (prosecutor) wife in stitches!
OT to bulldozer: While I thank you for your comments the other day, your modesty about your own communication skills is unfounded...I love your use of language, the fact that it is more unbounded than a lawyer's has a distinct appeal. I mean "speculize" was perfect...I love it!
Best,
Uptick
ps: Totally agree with loop on ins djs in the year 2006.
sjratty: I agree with your views and appreciate your legal contributions to the board. Keep up the good work!
Best,
Uptick
OT to Old Dog: That Selya opinion was pure Selya, rather brusque and rather pointedly effective.
JimLur:
But for the fact many of us make up the "silent majority" on this site, you would hear many more words of praise for you and your efforts here as wellas our former home. You would also hear many more calls for the head (or other body parts) of those such as ratty. Like him, I too am a lawyer, but unlike him I respect those that are married to the law (as several here clearly are) and likewise respect those wed to other disciplines. Your respect for those many thoughtful perspectives is a part of what has made this site great. Ratty's and some others make comments that are repeatedly without discipline or respect, if not downright either dumb, shilling or biased towards a thinly veiled angle.
Thanks Jim for your respect for us and patience with them; you set a hard-to-beat standard of conduct on a very fluid board where much is to gained for those who are patient like you.
Best,
Uptick
It seems to me that the person who should be most upset with the NOK raiding of messages from the IHub board would be Bulldozer...Just remember Dozer, should NOK try to make money off your Dirty Rice recipe, I stand ready to represent you on a pro bono basis to recover your patent rights from that recipe!!!... That fact could then be used by IDCC as yet another example of NOK using the property of others without permission or expressing a willingness to pay for it!
Have a good weekend all!
Keep smiling...our day is coming!
Uptick!
So...while they were not in negotiations as of or about April 1, there is no information one way or the other to indicate whether they are in negotiations now. Further, no one has suggested that there is a legal obligation for either company to formally inform if the "not in negotiations" status changes. I am not implying that they are in negiations, I am simply trying to make sure that I understand correctly that they could be and that those negotiations could take place without any obligation on their part to inform us of same.
Here is where I am stuck and have been for some time. We were told at some point, quite a while back, that there were no negotiations going on between NOK and IDCC. I do not believe that information came by way of any 8K or other SEC material event type disclosure. Certainly the nonexistence of negotiations would have been true at the time stated. But whether there are or are not negotiations ongoing obviously can be a dynamic and fluid situation and negotiations may begin between the parties thereafter at any time. If such negotiations were ever to begin, why would the event of negoatiations beginning require some further disclosure? That is to say, if such an event (or non-event) did not rise to the level requiring formal disclosure in the first instance, why would the level of disclosure change if the dyanmic changed? I can not imagine that IDCC, NOK or any other company would ever be required to disclose each time that it begins talks or when they may be broken off, or maybe even simply be put on pause. However, this is far from my field of expertise and I do not know the legal nicities of such disclosure requirements. Can anyone with substantive knowledge of the disclosure requirements vis a vis the SEC enlighten me?
TIA

Mschere- Did your signficant other approve of you saying that?...lol...sorry...there is way too much tension in here for me. This has always struck me as a smart and productive group. While not always right, we have always been able to listen and sometimes even learn. To see many of the most respected members of this board arguing in ways not common to either member has been a shame to witness. Let's hope that those same fine folks can drink heavily together soon in celebration of gaining on our goals.
OT to Loop: You have just given me an indominable image of what this company can and should be. The followup commercial would have to be you or me or actually maybe JimLur...wanting to be like Mike...err, I mean Howard...lol
Uptick
OT to Chartex: I still haven't got mine. My dad told he he got his yesterday.
Geez...after all the gaseous release AMS emitted yesterday I was hopeful that we would hear no more. He must have had beans for breakfast. While I haven't made up my mind, nothing AMS says influences me to do anything...except consider the "ignore" option.
Telecom: I have not received my annual report and proxy yet either. Hopefully soon. As to the vote, the was one taken, some people here voted, many did not. I am a part of the group that has not made up their mind and although I think the Ross Richardson move was unwise, it will not decide my vote.
Best,
Uptick
OT; Geez guys...you are being a little rough on Once aren't ya? After all, I think he is providing the best comedy on here. I will continue to enjoy the day with all of you and, in addition, enjoy Once's comedy routine at the same time. Tomorrow is soon enough to find the ignore button...but by then he may be busy satisfying his margin call instead of posting on here.
Uptick
OT: I think the what we are hearing from AMS and Once are the gaseous remnants being released from their balloons...lol.
OT to Danny Detail: It is pretty funny but it isn't worth having Once off ignore.

Long IDCC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Counting on Ronnie is always worthwhile.
Thanks so much Ronnie for putting the option issue in plain investment terms. I have come to rely upon you as a voice of analytical wisdom and rationale perception. I understood the issues already (without everyone's hyperbole on both sides) but didn't have a handle on the value of the past and present decision to my shares. Now I do.
Best,
Uptick
ot to teecee: welcome back. while you did miss out on some continuation of the fireants trying to defoliate our lush and growing rainforest, they are being slowly eradicated...much like the shorts your post mentions...lol.
Best,
Uptick
Thank you for answering your question. I was thinking the same thing!
Uptick
Mickey: Let them sell, you and I then have another opportunity to buy. Its like TC says, to paraphrase, backfilling is a good thing for our very bright future as we move forward (with apologizes to TC...lol)
Uptick
Alley: Thanks once again for your insight. I thought of your this past week when we kept bumping into resistance at 23.80, which you had stated would be a point of resistance 2 weeks previous. Have a great and lazy vacation!
