1. @WreathsAcross America is a popular and rapidly growing veterans charity
It raised over $30 million last year.
But the vast majority of the money goes to Worcester Wreath Company
Key fact: The owners of Worcester Wreath Company founded Wreaths Across America
7:30 AM · Dec 13, 2023
2. Wreaths Across America was created around the same time Worcester Wreath Company lost its contract with LL Bean, which accounted for 90% of Worcester's wreath sales
Today, Wreaths Across America accounts for 80%+ of Worcester's sales
3. In fiscal year 2022, $20,605,527 of the money raised by Wreaths Across America went directly to Worcester Wreath Company. Most of the rest of the funds went to marketing, overhead, and staff salaries.
4. In 2015, the Worcester Wreath Company said it sold the wreaths to Wreaths Across America for $8.50, earning a $1.20 profit on each wreath. If that profit margin has held, this year's wreath laying will earn the company $3,480,000.
5. A spokesperson for Wreaths Across America maintains the organization also helps "living veterans."
The primary way is that other non-profits can sell sponsored wreaths on behalf of Wreaths Across America and get "paid back" $5 for each wreath sold
6. The total amount of these payments by Wreaths Across America to other orgs in fiscal year 2022 was just $3,046,486. And not all of that money went to veterans orgs. Boy Scouts, 4-H Clubs, and many other non-veteran groups participate.
7. The issue is not that laying a wreath on a tombstone causes any harm. It provides symbolic support for veterans.
But living veterans have acute unmet needs, including housing, disability accommodation, and mental health

My guess is because that's what was paid for. It was decided for whatever reasons to put x amount of dollars there. Just the advertising machine process. Maybe they first were thinking twitter, but Musk told them not to advertise with him. lol
I wonder how much he's going to be selling a piece of his Depends to his cult. They'll buy anything in order to kiss his ass.
That's a heck of a recall. Some meat for lawsuits against Musk.

DETROIT (AP) — Tesla is recalling nearly all vehicles sold in the U.S., more than 2 million, to update software and fix a defective system that’s supposed to ensure drivers are paying attention when using Autopilot.
Documents posted Wednesday by U.S. safety regulators say the update will increase warnings and alerts to drivers and even limit the areas where basic versions of Autopilot can operate.
The recall comes after a two-year investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration into a series of crashes that happened while the Autopilot partially automated driving system was in use. Some were deadly..........

A few points abt Hunter's decision to *show* but not testify.
1) Comer cited two authorities for subpoena, impeachment & legislative purpose. Since they're voting TODAY to open impeachment, impeachment authority will be easy to defeat.
DUMBASS timing from Comer & Speaker Mike.
8:51 AM · Dec 13, 2023
2) BY COINCIDENCE (or Comer's dumbass timing), Hunter had ALREADY claimed that the charges against him are result of improper separation of powers violation. That is, he has ALREADY made case that this is about charging Hunter w/a crime.
3) Assuming the House does hold Hunter in contempt and get all the newly more vulnerable NYS Reps to support that, & assuming Garland sent referral to David Weiss, it would prove the case Hunter is making.
One more point: The way Comer and Jordan wrote the contempt citation only requires Hunter to show up. Well, he was on Capitol grounds. He did what Comer had ordered in the weeks leading up.
Dumb argument, I know. But a contempt citation SHOULD be slamdunk but might not be.

Trump Legal Defense Fund’s Biggest Expense Was Mar-a-Lago
HOME FRONT
New tax filings show that a legal defense fund for Trump isn't spending any money on legal services, but is dishing out for a party at Mar-a-Lago.

A legal defense fund for Donald Trump appears to have placed its spending priorities in a strange place: Mar-a-Lago.
New tax filings show Trump’s legal defense fund raising about $1.6 million over the last six months and spending less than $30,000. But more notable than how little the legal defense group has spent is what they didn’t spend it on—namely, legal services—as well as what they paid for: a party at Mar-a-Lago.
The group—a political nonprofit called the “Patriot Legal Defense Fund”—was created by Trump campaign officials in July to help pay down the beleaguered former president’s snowballing court costs.
While the fund can accept unlimited donations from both individuals and corporations, its first periodic financial report, submitted to the Internal Revenue Service on Wednesday, indicates a phlegmatic start, with only about $1.6 million in receipts. (Trump’s 2024 campaign had raised about $56.7 million as of Sept. 30.) Even more alarming from the group is that the majority of that money—$1 million—came from a single contribution, given by a donor couple whose previous association with QAnon conspiracy theory forced the campaign to cancel a fundraiser ahead of the 2020 election.
The fund says its purpose is to “raise money and pay for or help defray legal expenses related to defending against legal actions arising from an individual or group’s participation in the political process.” But none of its expenses appear related to that mission................................................
Someone's got be paying for the fun weekends at Mar-a-Lago,
Guilfoyle’s Christmas party,
Housewives of Mar-a-Lago,
and the sex part..., whoops I mean ‘Moms for America’ event at Mar-a-Lago.
Geesh, they all look like entries in Heidi Fleiss’ little black book.

As promised in latest interview to listeners of
@MriyaReport
, here is the video about our unit made by Military TV of Ukraine.
Storks that we've met.
Some facts to make it more interesting and understandable:
- MilitaryTV wanted to make a film asap but didn't have free cameraman for filming on specified dates, so I proposed to do all the camera job myself, so they just sent their reporter Ksenia Honchuk without cameraman.
- "Stork" is the name of very first Ukrainian drone (Leleka-100 in Ukrainian) that was officially adopted in UA Armed Forces up to 2022. Long time it was kinda "guilty pleasure" for all UAV pilots here. This is why reporter says "...everyone wants to fly a "Stork"...".
And that's what this word-play "Stork needs some repair" means. We really joked a lot about "finally we've got a "Stork".
- The fact about "...after two hours of filming they received an order..." is not a "drama-trick". We finished filming at about 18:00, and already at 20:00 we had a briefing with order to head out for the mission no later than by 21:30. Reporter was absolutely shocked looking at all of us running around and grabbing the stuff for further deployment. She was sitting with eyes wide open and didn't believe that it really happens. Also because the plan was to bring her back to Kyiv : )
- It's also true that for the most of guys it was the very first battle. Andrii, who I'm shouting at "Andrey, we got freaking Red Air!" on 7:43 is one of them. Now he commands a platoon, by the way. "Red Air" meant that there was a russian UAV Orlan in the sky trying to spot us.
- Military TV started edition of the film when we were on the mission and I managed to shot some episodes of the fight when I had such an opportunity, this is why the voice behind the camera on the whole footage is mine.
- Military TV didn't want to add "battle" part of the film (last 2 minutes), I started to convince them that this will make the film more "alive". Because of this and because the whole video was made in "music video" style, they still call this film "most non-Military TV film that appeared on Military TV ever" : )
- After watching finished version of the film the head of MilTV recorded and sent us a video with invitation to work on Military TV : )
- English subtitled version became available because after the release of the film, many agencies like DailyNews, SkyNews etc asked for it. One of the first who reposted the video was the tech resource http://thetechnology.org
It still can be found there.
- My words "The last day of occupation of Bilohorka" with turning the camera to the sunset in final scene were recorded on last 40 seconds remaining on my SD card. At that moment we were sure that the losses and logistics paralysis that we inflicted to russians won't leave them a chance to keep Bilohorka.
- The stork from the video was successfully healed.
(In Ukraine stork is special and cherished bird. It's kinda symbol of new life. In ukrainian folklore all babies are being brought to their young parents by a stork. Having storks nest near your house used to be kinda sign of luck and happiness. When storks go back to their nests in places that suffered of war it means hope for further peace).
Hope you've read to the end :) Feel free to ask any questions and stay tuned for our further "collaboration" with
@ChuckPfarrer
where we're going to review some drone footages showing the role of the drones in modern tactics.
Enjoy and thanks.

Kentucky judge rules state charter school law is unconstitutional

A judge in Kentucky struck down a 2022 state law that allows public funding for charter schools and said that it would create a “separate and unequal” system of schools that violates the state’s 1891 constitution.
In his decision, Circuity Court Judge Phillip J. Shepherd said that the law, known as HB9, violated a section in the Kentucky constitution that prohibits the collection of taxes for any educational purpose other than “common schools” without the consent of voters. Common schools are traditional public schools, which are funded by taxpayers and overseen by public entities. Charter schools are publicly funded but privately operated, sometimes by for-profit companies, and educate about seven percent of U.S. schoolchildren.
In his ruling, Shepherd said that charter schools are not public schools or common schools as defined by the state constitution. He wrote:.........

Has to do a lot with climate catastrophes and it will get a lot worse relatively fast. Homes and cars involved. The insurance industry lost about 120 Billion last year in 22 to floods, wind, and fire. With no reprieve in site, only more costs coming, also more inspections and denials. Here are some SCOTUS updates.
• Special Counsel Jack Smith asked the U.S. Supreme Court to immediately decide whether former President Donald Trump has immunity from criminal prosecution for his attempts to subvert the 2020 election.
• Texas voters asked the Supreme Court to review a lawsuit challenging a state law requiring anyone under the age of 65 to have a qualifying excuse to vote by mail. The voters argue the law discriminates based on age, violating the 26th Amendment.
• The Supreme Court did not announce whether it would review more voting rights cases this term. Matters before the Court involve Washington's legislative map and Arkansas' congressional map.
Here are some other updates.
• Thirteen Republican-led states filed a brief in the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals supporting Louisiana's argument that voters cannot sue to enforce Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, further escalating GOP attacks on the landmark civil rights legislation.
• Wisconsin Secretary of State Sarah Godlewsk (D) called for Republican Bob Spindell to be removed from the Wisconsin Elections Commission for serving as a fake Trump elector in the 2020 election. Learn more about Spindell here.
Here’s what's coming up.
• Tomorrow is the deadline for voters and civil rights groups to object to Georgia's new maps in federal court. If objections are filed, the court will hold a hearing on Dec. 20 to determine whether the new districts violate the Voting Rights Act.
..
"Probably my favorite passage in the Bible is in Genesis 18, where Abraham, just a simple human being, implores and basically teaches God to be more compassionate. Even if you are familiar with it, it's worth reading again. For those who are not, God tells Abraham that he is on his way to punish Sodom and Gomorrah for the sins of their people. And then...
...Abraham approached him and said: “Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? Far be it from you to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?”
And God replies, “If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”
Then Abraham spoke up again: “Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes, what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five people?”
“If I find forty-five there,” he said, “I will not destroy it.”
Once again he spoke to him, “What if only forty are found there?”
He said, “For the sake of forty, I will not do it.”
And on Abraham goes, haggling God down to 30 and 20 and, finally, 10 (and yes, sorry, haggling is the word):
And God answered, “For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.”
I am not a religious believer, but the people who wrote this more than 3,000 years ago are my absolute heroes.
And those babbling on about how, "there are no innocents in Gaza," could do worse than reading this again.
Shabbat shalom."

What??? I gave you the latest figures and link from the official site for the year 2022. 2023 figures aren't out yet. The figures that you were talking about, the "invited" at the border and the 13-14% from Mexico that you wanted to turn into zero (maybe you were talking about the other bulk of the "invited" too, I'm not sure even you know). I gave you CURRENT figures of the different categories and percentage of immigrant workforce. The figures you were stating (which were errored) and subject you were bringing up directly related to my statements. I talked about causes of the CURRENT border problems. I also been talking about CURRENT security issues and the problem we have NOW. The current political war involving both Putin and the southern border. You know the 10,000 a day that isn't part of your numbers you wanted to curtail. Putin is NOW, his influence is NOW, his actions are effecting our security NOW. The Republican threats to our security and the help that they are giving to Putin is NOW. You're the one that said
No need to get frustrated and lose your head. I give you more credit on your intelligence than that. Take a few breaths and thoughts. All I'm saying it is not efficient solutions to waste limited resources and focus on something that is only maybe one or two percent of the problem and not the cause of the issues. Nor should there be any compromise taking from a much bigger issue and much more of a security threat to treat a smaller one. Threatening the focus on a bigger threat in order to focus on political power struggles is just plain wrong. One doesn't go to the store and get some washers to fix a sink faucet slowly dripping into the drain when the there's a broken valve rushing water into a plugged overflowing bathtub. That's just plain stupid. When you say "Fuck Ukraine" you're actually saying fuck the USA and the rest of the "free" world or the equivalent and giving in to dictatorships.
We definitely need to do something, a lot of something, and should without falling into political disinformation wars. Falling backwards is definitely not the answer.
Given, Mexico born are the largest percentage of the naturalization processed people, but only about 13-14% in 2022 of all the naturalizations into the US from different countries. https://www.uscis.gov/citizenship-resource-center/naturalization-statistics With the exception of indigenous people, everyone in the US is an immigrant, and comparatively few white has built this country to what it is today. Way more black, brown, yellow and whatever colors than white are responsible for the labor taken to build us.
Connected to that 13-14% today are mostly responsible for feeding us, washing our dishes, cleaning our rooms and toilets, and now even building our homes. Biggest percentage of the hard, low paying jobs that we don't want to do. Maybe that's where we should look for a compromise.
This is Texas AG Ken Paxton saying he’ll throw a woman’s doctors in prison for life if they perform a *court-granted* abortion on a *nonviable* pregnancy that risks causing her permanent infertility and death.

Your numbers are still way off. Numbers have reached over 10,000 a day for illegal southern crossings and much bigger issue than ones who are "invited". Just stopping the "invited" numbers at only the southern border (not like there isn't any problem with other area entries) won't address the main issue. We could do that, although not simply, but it wouldn't even begin to solve the real problem and create other problems at the same time. It would be like spending $5 to save a $1. Then we have the 10's of millions illegally here working or other wise that would have to be dealt with (at enormous costs). That's a real complex issue. You've only talked about ones coming in, that eludes from a big part of the issue. Closing off the legal entries isn't even a start. Agreed that the US doesn't have the resources to withstand the onslaught of the illegal crossings. Without that issue, we would have the resources for the relatively few and controlled invites.
Sounds like it may be a personnel problem. There's been a growing shortage of medical personnel nationwide for quite a few years now, extreme in many areas. Compounded more in red states/areas by political forces due to "brain drain" from culture wars in those areas. Not sure if that's your problem, but probably would consider switching doctors to a provider that meets your needs a bit better. Very common though to only be able to get an appointment months out with your doctor and referred to quick care services. But it's a major problem not to even get a hold of someone at the desk to even answer ever or never get back to you. That's tough to deal with.
