That is completely false Jim. Companies can sell shares through a brokerage firm. I don't want to over-simplify this, but basically a company can keep its shares in an etrade or scottrade account and sell them. Please point me to material (links, etc) that prove otherwise.

That is totally incorrect. Companies sell shares into the open market all the time.
