Ongoing satellite news
http://siriusbuzz.com/category/general-news
OK no one wants to make fun of me or criticize me especially after the billion shares and then the international dateline. i am open, jump in.
thanx, sludge. i will contain my international dateline panic until then.
Got it to work earlier not won't download. Anyone else have issues? Thanks eastunder, btw.
Got it to work earlier not won't download. Anyone else have issues?
It is already Tuesday, June 30 in Kaz. and right now it is 12:40am. Still it begs the question, because I have seen 2 dates. Launch is today at 3:10est, correct?
OK. Is it over the international date line in Kaz? I checked weather for Kaz. and it would only alert for tomorrow's weather. Hence, does the satellite go today, June 29, in the USA or does it launch June 30 in Russia, which it already is? And I realize this question is crazy.
I am worried about the satellite launch. Media can and will trash any minor prob. That is Monday. Charts good, market questionable at best. Geez, will Bernanke still have a job Monday, will sat launch, which is full of strife, will we have a rough next week after this relatively good one, end of month and again, the NASDAQ delisting deadline?
OK. Maybe not but serious volume.
This is gonna be over 1 billion shares today!
I am hangin much higher than .43. Last I sold was at .534, I think. Higher highs are coming.
hopefully .41 won't be as painful as .40 resistance.
great website! thanx!
anyone watching trades closely? wierd jump just occured .368 to .40
Please be forgiving. I get that this is significant, but where does it fit in? Could not access link.
Finally… news worth celebrating from Sirius XM
Today's Financial News - Posted June 22, 2009
It has been a while since we saw “fundamentally” good news from Sirius XM (NASDAQ:SIRI). News of a fresh debt offering has prices surging today, but will it last?
By Andrew Snyder, TodaysFinancialNews.com
Baltimore – (TFN): Today is a day worth celebrating. Of course, the rejoicing is not because of the market’s deep dive today. It is certainly not because of imminent signs of world peace (far from it). And the action in Washington is not bringing a smile to many faces.
It is a good day because Sirius XM Radio’s (NASDAQ:SIRI) share price is acting rationally.
It is the first time in a long time we can look at the stock and know the surge is due to something predictable and tangible like fundamental advances and not some speculative hype emanating from Howard Stern’s group of loyal shareholding fans.
In case you have not been following the drama that is Sirius XM, earlier this year the company was in serious trouble. It had a pile of debt coming due and its cash reserves were nowhere near ample. At one point, the market was convinced a bankruptcy filing was hours away.
But then came John Malone and his fat balance sheet. He cut Sirius a check for $350 million, allowing the unprofitable business to stay alive for at least another year.
The only problem… Malone charged interest of 15%.
But when the credit markets froze solid, an expensive loan was better than the alternatives.
After the thaw
Now that the credit markets are moving once again and all sorts of company are raising capital through massive debt and equity offerings, Sirius wants to pay back Malone and refinance at a lower rate.
Sirius announced this morning it is offering $350 million in senior four-year notes to institutional investors.
Chances are the new debt will have a substantially lower interest rate and will save the company at least a few million in interest over the next few years.
The news is certainly cause for shares to rise.
But like all things related to Sirius, today’s surge is overdone.
As I write, shares of Sirius are up by more than 5%, bringing the company’s Street value to a whopping $1.4 billion.
Granted the offering will add a few dollars to Sirius’ income and cash flow statements, but it does not fix a flawed business model.
The company continues to lose too many subscribers. Its growth will be limited as Detroit figures out how to rebuild. And its talent (if you can call it that), is way too expensive.
Over the last month, shares of Sirius have had difficulty overcoming the $0.35 level. Today’s news sent shares over the resistance, but with the market deep in the red, do not expect the momentum to last much longer.
Nearly 5% of Sirius shares are sold short. There is no reason today’s news should make the figure grow any smaller anytime soon.
This one is filled with risk and not much else.
I think there are "teasers" free for 15 days or something. Not sure about specifics, other than app is free.
From what I get from ATT and reading, app is always free, service is extra.
Anyone with final rundown of weekend w/iphone?
Whoa! Thought Stern was gonna be a freebie. Check back last week posts--there initially was consternation over Stern not being offered, but siri came back with OK, uncle, he will be free. It was around the time Stern said he was willing to rep E? co. Green, I think. Anyone know the volume/contract price with airtran? free to all every single fligt? Duration? Cannot seem to wrap my arms around it. Airtran's SEC's do not say.
marTrend(R) News Watch: Some iPhone Customers Have to Wait 48 Hours
Before Activating
Jun 20, 2009 (SmarTrend(R) News Watch via COMTEX) -- The blogosphere is once
again rife with user complaints over extended wait times to activate the new 3G
S iPhone released by Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) yesterday. Apple, and its network
partner AT&T (NYSE:T) have been notorious for being unable to handle the huge
volume of concurrent activations leaving many new buyers with a brick, rather
than a phone. Users typically activate their devices through Apples iTunes
software program and many have reported getting an error message saying that
activation will take up to 48 hours due to high volume.
OK, sorry, this means what? I have been in the sun all day and cannot make heads or tails from this. Perchance I am not alone?
level2stockquotes.com has 7:59 trade at .38. I think sales of iphone over w-end will drive next week.
Volume is nill!
I HATE when good news sux. Guess on sales on weekend with appl and up apps and subs. At this point science is removed and it is all driven by outsider sources.
WOW!. We might be awhile or forever to get media hype going, is that the msg?
Number 1
According to iTunes, the free Sirius XM App for the iPhone and iPod touch today became the No. 1 most downloaded free music App, leapfrogging other apps such as Pandora and Slacker in just this, its first official day. It was also the 6th most downloaded of any free App on iTunes. .

Go siri! GLTA
over 100 million shares traded siri today!
aapl expects to sell 500,000 iphones this weekend
all I am saying is statistics, as in averages, have been known to lie. I agree trend is present. with today's vol. it does not make sense that there is so little movement. unless we are back to mm's and again, shorts.
just thinking that averages on volume (chart) are altered because of nil volume trading last few weeks (since board meet May 29). With those stats off due to "unusual" figures added in I think BB and moving averages are more reliable because pps has been very tight and steady. That said, remember the disclaimer "past performance is not indicative of future results".
thinking tomorrow for sure with carryover to next week depending on volume. I agree the siri/appl news should be bigger but why not I do not know. thinking the iphone needs to make it into many hands. then if there is an app problem watch out. but siri is good on last generations of iphones so possibilities are narrow. volume yesterday as huge as it was, and appears today needs to steady to avoid overbought.
options expiration coming tomorrow then pressure is completely off. next news is july 17? nasdaq review of stocks under a buck.
Days ago I called ATT. The info from them is that appl is responsible for the siri app. All articles are indicating siri is responsible. siri is not a software co. it just makes sense that appl is responsible; either i have a mental block or articles are swayed and no one understands it is up to appl. correct me? and I cannot remember the indicators on the "a" chart--is it 40-20? or is that one 80-50? Thanks.
Sounds like the government wants to break up ATT again. If iphone was available to other carriers siri would definately expand base exponentially.

Senator Kerry Questions AT&T iPhone Exclusivity

AT&T may love its exclusive agreement with Apple to sell the iPhone, but it may not be long for this world. Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), along with senators Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), have asked the Federal Communications Commission to investigate whether "exclusivity agreements unfairly restrict consumer choice or adversely impact competition in the commercial wireless marketplace," according to MediaPost.
Kerry has also written a blog post entitled "Who Really Owns Your iPhone?" that argues these contracts limit consumers' ability to use the newest phones--something we have been saying for ages and ages.
"Today, we've got a wireless marketplace where four companies account for more than 85 percent of all subscribers. These large carriers strike deals with the companies creating the newest and most innovative phones, leaving smaller regional wireless carriers without access to the latest technologies to attract consumers," he wrote. No word yet on a response from AT&T or Apple.
