NAS about 25 points away from almost a 5 year high?
This will get people talking for sure.
Zeev,
Do any of these IVR systems work today? Cellmax seems to depend on IVR as demo'ed on their site and I think the guy simply calling some number and saying "pay Cable TV bill $243 dollars and 45 cents" is a ways from being viable as most IVR systems but the simplest are a huge pain in the rear.
It does seem like this is a march back up to back test 1160 or so but everyone seems to be saying the same thing including AJ, Zeev, and many others on both threads. That's when I start to wonder if something will happen to fool us all. An immediate resumption down tomorrow or next week after 1160 - 1170 is tagged is the prevailing theory - a burst through 1170 up to higher highs would certainly fool the most people. Not backing up the truck in anticipation of this but certainly not ruling it out either.
Now that crude climb could put a monkey wrench in the COTH.
Thanks AJ, just signed on and missed it...
COTH today Steve? How's that indicator doing as of late?
Uggs. I tried to buy a pair of these for my wife this past Christmas (she is 41 and in style but doesn't go overboard). She had them on her list.
I went to my local Nordstrom in Northern CA and could not find a pair anywhere (Popular Sand Color, size 7, short). The sales guy (in ladies shoes) who is always very helpful told me they are impossible to get.
I went to 3 other stores in the area and they laughed at me. Some told me people were buying them just to sell on EBAY for a much higher price.
Just checked EBAY and it looks like there are quite a few for sale but haven't checked Nordstrom recently.
Bill, per your message I still own DLKR and haven't sold any.
I have bought DLKR since 2/28/05 through yesterday from 76 cents down to 32 cents making my average on 40,000 shares around 52 cents (yes, I'm underwater at the moment ).
The low for the year is 30 cents.
I spoke to Gary from DLKR investor relations a week ago Wednesday and he said he's buying more at these levels and expects them to start their first drilling project the 1st or second week of April and that they will have an idea of results sometime in early to mid May. Of course I always take any advice from the investor relations folks with a grain of salt but I know others that are much more heavily invested than I in DLKR so am taking a bit of a flyer.
The weakness is probably due to the "dry hole" that was drilled by the joint ASR / WSR project in North Dakota that has close proximity to the DLKR acreage.
The DLKR play is definitely speculative as their future is dependent on finding oil but they have a lot more land and targets in North Dakota than ASR / WSR do so the risk / reward may pay off. They both are using an oil identification technology that has had good results in the past so the dry hole for ASR / WSR definitely was a major negative for all.
From my original mesage mentioning DLKR and MMGG as 2 commodity plays, I own over 100,000 shares of MMGG at $1 and believe that is far less speculative than DLKR as they have recently identified a very large Zinc deposit - enough to justify building a mine:
http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/050318/185363_1.html
I have friends that have put together analyses valuing MMGG around $7 based on the price of zinc, cost of building a mine, and amount of zinc identified. I also haven't sold any MMGG and plan on holding this one for a while.
As always, do your own DD but I wanted to pass on where I'm at on these two.
Zeev, do you still hold GIVN? I remember at some point you were thinking of doubling at these levels. They received a Wells Fargo downgrade yesterday that took them down a couple points.
They received a bunch of money through a private placement which I did not participate in but others that you know such as Aloha did (he also participated in ROOTS).
It is a speculative play. Do they find oil or don't they?
If they do, it should pop. I plan on holding for quite a while if they do. I'm looking for a big multiple from these levels. Bought most of mine in the .70s - I believe the Private Placement was around .50 - .60.
DLKR's using a new technology that allows them to drill where others
couldn't before. Apparently that technology has had a 100% hit rate (33 of
33 now). Here's their web site:
http://www.delekresources.com
Westchester Resources and Aspen group both use the same technology and
started drilling last month in the same area in North Dakota. They just
announced their first hit today and are each up 50-80%:
http://www.stockhouse.com/news/news.asp?newsid=2651581&tick=WSR
Delek has much more land and many more targets than the Westchester/Aspen
joint venture in North Dakota, so the potential is mind-boggling. The land
and rights alone are worth a lot more after today's news. Once they get
their first hit, they should be applying for Amex listing.
It's still speculative, since DLKR themselves haven't hit oil yet, but given
the technology's perfect record, that should happen next month when they get
results. Even without hitting oil, they're worth a lot more because all
their land is made much more valuable by the Westchester/Aspen Group news
today.
The reason it is down today is the initial Aspen / Westchester resources drill test was not positive:
March 4, 2005 - 12:30:05 ET
Westchester Resources Inc.: Aspen and Westchester Provide Preliminary Test
Results
OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA--(CCNMatthews - March 4, 2005)
Aspen Group Resources Corporation (TSX:ASR) (Aspen) and Westchester Resources
Inc. (TSX VENTURE:WSR) (Westchester) requested on March 2, 2005 that trading
in their shares be halted pending the release of test results on the Froelich
1-27 test well in North Dakota. Westchester has been informed by the operator,
Aspen, that the open-hole production test was expected to commence late
afternoon on Wednesday March 2nd, but was postponed until the following day
due to onsite equipment delays. The upper portion of the formation was
acidized and tested late Thursday afternoon and evaluated overnight. The
initial results indicated low porosity and no commercial quantities of oil or
natural gas in the upper portion of the formation. The well is still under
evaluation and it has been determined that further drilling is required on the
Froelich 1-27 well in order to complete the production test on the formation.
The drilling and testing will occur over the next 5-7 days.
Aspen Group Resources Corporation is an independent oil and natural gas
producer engaged in the acquisition, exploration, production and development
of oil and natural gas properties in North America. Aspen's shares trade on
The Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol "ASR".
Westchester Resources Inc. shares trade on the TSX Venture Exchange under the
symbol "WSR".
I'm trying to buy more at these prices as DLKR still has yet to drill their holes and has much more land.
Thanks for all the info Pat.
Do you have a link to the AMEX requirements? Not my area of expertise but interested in the various exchange listing requirements. In fact if there is a comparison of NYSE, NASD, and AMEX listing requirements in the same link, that would be great.
That 91 cent stock was 75 cents yesterday and 30 cents in December. They probably believe they're going to be over a buck sooner than later.
As always, do your own due diligence.
They are - looking for AMEX listing shortly.
Two early stage commodity stocks worth looking at:
MMGG - zinc mining company with a recent big quality reserve discovered. Owned this one for almost a year.
DLKR - oil driller in Idaho with some good hit rate news starting to hit the wires. Just started accumulating this one early this week and it's starting to breakout.
These are the only two early stage companies I own as I wanted some part of the portfolio in commodities. Do your own due diligence but I think these names have some serious potential. Other folks a lot smarter than I am in commodities are big fans of both.
Not sure, we eked out a new high on the DOW intraday today and I wonder if it was the first of multiple attempts vs. a double top and down from here.
Seems like we may make another assault on the new high on the DOW and I think we were within 5 points or so on the NAS as well so my guess is we take the new highs and then run for a bit.

I haven't laughed this hard in a long, long, time.
This cell phone recording is hilarious! Enjoy!
Give the link a minute or two to load - it's worth the wait!
DOW 40 points away from 52 WK High. Closes on all indices abouve 10 DMA could provide some more running room.
Mark, was this message meant for me or Zeev?
Watch 'em close us right on 2040 to clear things up for the turnips
Sure throwing some curves lately.
Is today incurring enough damage to change this week from an UP week to a DOWN week or do you think we're close enough to 2040 at the close with other indicators indicating bottom and therefore bounce back?
NASSACRE beginning yet or still have a big bounce left?
I think the fear of Trans Fat (partially hydrogenated oils) is killing Krispy Kreme. I just discovered this term a year ago and was educated on how much a killer it is. 100% greater chance of dying from a heart attack in multiple studies.
By 2006, the FDA is going to force all food manufactures to list the % of Trans Fat in their products and you will see the word "hydrogenated" almost disappear from ingredient lists. Last year, we cleaned out our pantry removing any product with the word "hydrogenated" as the 2nd or 3rd ingredient. The stuff is a killer and Krispy Kreme doughnuts are full of it.
Langostino, do you really have to come to Zeev's board once a month or so to pick on Federal Reserves? Don't you have enough ankles to bite over on the Apple Board?
Save your rhetoric, picking on Federal Reserves is just not cool.
I doubled at $31.34 (GIVN)and hope to be justly rewarded tomorrow. Great top and bottom line this quarter. Guided higher on top line and lower on bottom line for next quarter and FY05. Conference call should tell if the profit problems are short term...
Tomorrow the run on GIVN
Just bought some BABY earlier today before this news...
Earnings tomorrow. GIVN solid earnings...
Zeev, did you ever double on GIVN? Earnings tonight.
AD, does your post have a tie to GIVN's pop today?
See GIVN today? Actually don't know the reason for the runup but could maybe guess short squeeze.
There's my +100 point DOW day - first of the new year I believe. Nice.
Hey AD, per your recent request, when the futures were down this morning after the jobs report I posted I felt an "up" day was in the making.
While it's still too early in the day to claim victory, I did posit a rare opinion today.
Feels like an up day coming today. While jobs report of 146K a little lighter than expectations of 189K, I think they spin the decrease in unemployment rate (which is a meaningless number IMO) from 5.4 to 5.2%.
What Russian story are you referring to?
I doubled on GIVN today at $31.34.
Zeev, are you doubling on GIVN here?
Thanks, maybe I'll do the same (GIVN) with a stop just under 30.
zeev, are you still holding GIVN from Friday and into earnings next week?
GOOG flying and may get past 205 on their report.
Good point Joe. That's been the modus operandi all month for the market which is probably some distribution. Maybe Zeev is right and there is a laborious climb from here. However, I did think this could be a +100 day for the Dow and that's not looking good right now. However, I'll take 20 points on the NAS anyday if that's where we finish.
The M&A activity this morning didn't hurt either.
I've always thought the homebuilders were overbought, just haven't had the cajones to short them.
Not a problem AD, I just don't post that often. However, I just joined you in some GIVN here on weakness.
I have a fair amount of large cap tech (IBM, ORCL (largest position been building between $10-$11 per share), INTC, MSFT) here which have had some pretty good Q4 earnings but haven't moved much yet - maybe this rally take 'em up, if we are in fact seeing a rally?
