from installing or running?
I have installed Internet Explorer 8 on seven (7) XP computers and two Win7 computers with no problems. Will it clear out all of your problems......denmo, sorry, I just don't know.....but it might by replacing a bad file.
As I wrote earlier, I had the exact same problem with activeX on an office computer. When I would try to pull up the menu, all I would get is an "Info" message. Also had the Adobe problem....in our case there were two copies. Maybe, just maybe, you could uninstall every thing Adobe, reboot and try activeX to see if the two problems are related.
...you know, I had that problem about three weeks ago on a computer at the office. What I found was an old copy of Adobe installed (ver 4) along with the new one. It got installed by installing an old program that also installed the old Adobe. Look in your installed programs and see if you have two installed....one older.
Uninstalling both and then reinstalling the new one fixed the problem for me.
Good luck...
Thanks Bruce!

I am building a home server using a Gigabyte GA-G31MES2L motherboard and an Intel E5200 chip with the following chip specs:
Freq: 2.50 GHZ
FSB: 800 MHz
The Gigabyte instructions said to set the base freq. to 200 for 800 FSB. First bootup to bios did auto set to 200 with a multiplier of 9 giving 1.80 GHZ. I set the multiplier to 12 and now have 2.40 GHZ.
How can one get to 2.50 and remain stock?
Thank you for your time.
Really nice....I want one! <G>
Michael
I always enjoyed your posts...thanks. Live long and well.
nice...thanks for sharing.
Bruce did you say......Vista?
Hey, wccawa........Bruce said: Vista..!!..... <G>
PC gaming..........
We may not get games for high end gaming machines anymore...at least not from Crytek. Why buy high end expensive components when they might not be supported?

just a thought...
Bruce...thank you. I appreciate your time and like your ideas....MOST helpful.
Thanks Bruce. Keeping the video and will upgrade the CPU to an Intel Quad.
I have been running my AMD FX60 for a long time now for mostly game play. So, I have missed the whole Intel Duo thing. I have a 8800 GTX video card and think that has carried me through even games like Crysis. After reading reviews like this:
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,2289587,00.asp
I have to wonder what good is a QX9770 and Quad video except for bragging rights?! Seems to me that my single video card is all I need....but just don't know about the CPU. I have read that some games do use the CPU more that others....but is there major gains from a 790i motherboard and a QX9770?
Thanks
I'll celebrate with you....but I will be wearing a dual boot hat...
The BIOS change should do the trick, but I would also recommend a good server battery backup. With an USB connection like APC has, it will give you a "soft" shut down that will be more gentle to the system and then restart with power.
After reading a great review, I tried it. I agree with you: it is meaner and leaner than previous products.
OT: I could only get to level 10....
wow...I didn't know that was possible! I get 9500 sometimes...but...
Add BioShock as well...
wccawa
We loaded all three on my wife's computer. Maybe yours already had the first two.
After I finish with the game STALKER, I will load Vista on mine. That game just won't run on Vista. Maybe build a new computer with your favorite motherboard and get ready for Bioshock. I am still running FX60 AMD.
Let us know if you see any gaming improvements from the one update.
Thanks
Interesting....Vista updates

As always.....good answer... IMHO

Zoll may go down to fill the gap. I think you and John have held this one too long...20% profit at the top would have been better....no?
Yes, prayers for Bill Baker.

This goes along with your ideas...

I am a self taught Server 2000-2003 user. That was the way I did it. I could bang away at the test setup and could learn by doing and reading.
Good luck

Very interesting. I opened myself up for that one...but I did say "at least I have never heard of a way". <G>
Thanks for the post.

Doesn't really make sense...sorry. Server 2003 is a big boy operating system and needs a computer of it's very own. If you spend the money for her, you need a strong box (computer) to play with her.
You cannot run two operating systems at the same time on one computer....at least I have never heard of a way.

The only software I have heard that makes that possible (so they claim) is Acronis 9.1 Workstation ($80) with an add-on software ($30). Verify it will work with Vista.

I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS !! But would love to hear how it went for you... <GG>

Both should be one year daily.
Look at February's high on both...one is 17.14, the other 17.50

Thank you. Clears up the difference. However, I agree with you....I have to now rethink how I look at this dividend paying stock.

Why are these two charts so different?

Amen!!
Thanks Bruce...didn't notice the price difference.

I noticed you are using the Rosewill drive case now. At one time you were using Venus drive cases. Reason for the change?
Thanks

Good read...thanks!

Thanks...I read that someone at Microsoft had been running without a third party virus protection for months.
I think you have a valid approach. We will know soon enough. If any problems show up, I will try AVG 7.5
I have been using Norton most of my computer years. I have tired of its huge overhead!
I will be going for it. I like the new OS and want to learn all I can now. More drivers should be out and that was really the only problem I had with the beta. Also I am a gamer...Vista is suppose to be a real improvement in that area. Besides, wccawa has been running it for months and can help me when I get in Vista trouble!! <G>
BTW..Wccawa... what are you using for an Anti-virus? I noticed that AVG had a new version 7.5 that is suppose to be Vista ready. I'm thinking that is the direction I will go.
Thanks
