True, Janice. There has always been a bias against traders who short stocks with the True Longs blaming 'shortie' when their stock loses value. It took me a long time to overcome that bias myself (I currently trade only options and my very favorite trade is to sell Puts short!).
Newly
Precisely my point -- they expected to get away with it and when they don't they get upset.
The line between right and wrong tends to move so that one (in one's own mind anyway) is always on the 'right' side of that line. If someone wants to do something they know is 'wrong' they will create a scenario in their mind that justifies what they are going to do anyway.

While nobody asked me (duh), as a long-time poster here I will chime in anyway.
I think your way of dealing with this problem is quite proper. It is the posts that are likely to cause an insultfest on a board that should be removed, not the relatively harmless off-topic posts nobody cares about.
Newly
That was my first reaction to the link he posted also! I trade on this computer and don't take chances with iffey downloads!

BTW, FYI if you are looking to buy a VCR, be careful that you buy a unit that can record as well as play. There are units that only play, not record, for around $60.
There are also DVR's that record to VCR or disk, but I have never found one with an internal tuner which means you can only pull in one channel, so if you want to record one and watch another, you can only do it is you install a splitter on your incoming cable connection or possibly (not sure) by combining it with a digital converter box that has an internal tuner. . . or pay a monthly fee and get a set-top box like Tivo, etc.
Newly
When I bought this tuner (which isn't free) it included a tiny but powerful antenna (I use this in my camper when I travel). This tuner is an NTSC (analog) & ATSC (digital) tuner and can connect via an antenna or rabbit-ears to receive over-the-air and QAM (unscrambled cable channels). It can also be connected to cable but does not replace a set-top box -- it cannot unscramble scrambled cable channels. Right now most cable channels are unscrambled (except HBO, etc.), but that could change. Rumor is that cable companies are slowly converting all channels to scrambled, and if that happens no tuner without a monthly fee will be able to receive those channels, but the majors like CBS, NBC and ABC should still be available without a set-top box and a monthly fee via antenna.
BTW, if, like me, you use a VCR to record shows to watch later, be aware that it is nearly impossible to buy a new VCR today unless you are willing to pay through the nose ($600+). My VCR started acting up recently and when I discovered I could not buy a replacement, I began recording TV via this tuner, and it works great, just like a VCR except it will only record in increments of 30 mins (i.e. 30, 60, 90, 120 etc.) and the picture quality is not as good.
Newly
I don't know about that site, Larry, but I've been watching TV on my laptop for years by using a Hauppage tuner. I have the 950, but there are plenty more here:
http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=hauppauge+usb+tuner&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=36166384240&hvpos=1t2&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7460185690919171811&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_7hrf64rfwx_b
Mine also allows me to record TV shows to my harddisk to watch later, and because it is a tuner, I can schedule different channels to record at different times sorta like the old VCRs worked.

To clarify, any poster, mod or otherwise, can PM Admin any time. Freebie mods cannot PM posters other than Admin except during Happy Hour on Fridays. Paid posters who are mods can PM anyone any time.

If it's an upgrade copy, why not do a Restore Point before you load it, and if you don't like it you could go back and restore the old OS before the upgrade, no?
Another possibility, if you have an OEM copy of your current OS, you could load that on the other side of your partition, then load the upgrade there as well and it would not affect the OS on the other side of the partition so if you don't like it you just don't use it.
Newly
I suppose that would depend on whether the Win10 you have is an upgrade or a complete OS (OEM copy). I partitioned my HD and have WinXP on one side and Linux on the other and they do not affect one another at all. When you have two OS's, your system will ask which one you wish to load when you boot (at least mine does), and if you make no choice, it will load the first on the list.
Newly
Bruce, where are you? Hope all is going well for you. You're in our thoughts and prayers. Write when you can. . .

TOS'd for vulgarity!
Newly
PS Hi, chu.
And I understand your frustration, but bottomline, human nature is human nature and nothing will change that. In the greater world we create prisons to confine criminals, but does that change criminal behavior? NO! The same crimes are committed time and time again. These crimes can be punished after the fact, but seldom can be totally prevented. We all have to deal with this fact. Welcome to the real world!
And so it is also in our miniature world of iHub. The Jailhouse on iHub is always full of miscreants who never seem to learn to modify their behavior or just don't care, and for every one incarcerated here, two more pop up to take their place. That said, I believe this site does a far better job than any other stock message board I've been on in attempting to contain the most egregious manifestations of the baser side of human nature (and I've been on this site for 13 years, but I don't play the pennies). Where money is concerned, there will always be the crooks just waiting to fleece the unwary sheep. You cannot change their behavior, but you can protect yourself and your hard-earned money.
Traders who play penny stocks either go broke fairly quickly or realize they are being fleeced and move on to other stocks less subject to manipulation. The truth is, with or without the pumper/basher crooks, playing penny stocks is like playing the lottery -- pure gambling. Sure, someone wins big occasionally, but the odds are so far against the player it isn't worth the risk. Good luck to you.
Newly
PS I don't believe it is fair to characterize Moderators as 'representatives' of iHub, and as you are no doubt aware, sentiment regarding a stock is not a factor in becoming a Mod. If you feel a Mod is not acting within the TOS you can report them to Admin, and if enough evidence exists Admin can remove them as they have in past incidences. But you cannot expect Admin to do the impossible; i.e. change human nature.
All msg board sites I've seen are the same in this regard, and many far, far worse than iHub since the boards are unmonitored free-for-alls. Traders/investors will always try to manipulate others' opinions of an issue to conform to their own in hopes of influencing the stock price in the desired direction.
That said, Admins here have neither the time nor the inclination to determine the validity of any information posted on the thousands of boards on the site so long as the post conforms to the TOS. It is up to the reader to determine the truth of any info posted.
So, you can always report a violation of the TOS and it will be looked into, but you cannot expect Admin to act on a msg reportedly containing inaccurate info. Attack the message not the messenger, and remain within the TOS and you will be doing what you can honestly do to keep other investors/traders informed -- from there it is up to them whether they believe you or the pumpers/bashers. You can lead a horse to water. . .

I had an HTC Incredible for 3 yrs before I got the S4, and much prefer the HTC. Seems like no matter where I hold the S4 I touch some button that takes me somewhere I don't want to go, which becomes a real problem when I'm trying to take photos.
I don't let anyone set up my phones (or my computers) because they do things like give google access to things I prefer google not having, not for any particular reason except I'm a very private person. I had no problem bringing over my stuff from the HTC to the S4. With this new OS, the problem wasn't the same. The existing apps on my phone simply wouldn't work with the new OS so everything had to be tweaked and now all is well.
One thing I will say about phone/computer problems: every time I encounter one I learn a lot!
Newly
Actually, I have discovered that there is someplace in "Notifications" where you can stop it from asking you to download Lollipop. But, once you download it and figure out the changes, Lollipop is OK, but I would have preferred not to have wasted all this time getting my phone back into workable condition, but now that it's down I can live with the new OS.
BTW, here is a site that helped me understand and solve some of the problems:
http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/jan/12/23-tips-tricks-android
Good luck!
Newly
Feels good when you figure something like that out, doesn't it?
I spent today doing battle with my Android phone. It kept dunnning me to download the new Lollipop Android OS for the past week or so. I kept telling it no thanks, but next time I'd turn the phone on it was there again asking me. I finally got so annoyed I told it to download it. YIKES! Completely different look (apps, too). Nothing would work, bluetooth wouldn't connect, couldn't tether, security didn't work, other apps wouldn't work, etc. SCREECH!!! Called Verizon and they said to backup everything and do a factory reset to go back to my original OS. Did that and guess what? It wiped out everything I wanted to keep and left the one thing I didn't want on the phone -- LOLLIPOP! Arrrrrggggghhhhh!
Called Verizon again and they really hadn't even looked at Lollipop and hadn't a clue, so I spent my day struggling to reload/reconstruct what I had backed up and figuring out the changes and researching on the Net. My photos are gone, but no biggie as I already copied them to my computer, but worst of all, I forgot to check my calendar and lost all my upcoming appointments -- at least my contacts came through intact (I think)! Now, after hours and hours of teeth gnashing, it is back the way I want it, sort of. I hate Lollipop, but then I also hate the Galaxy S4 I bought last year, but I'm stuck with both now.
So, if you own an Android and it wants you to download Lollipop, some of your old apps won't work, and it is one big pain to fix everything. Without resetting to factory fresh, I probably couldn't get any of the apps to work at all and doing a factory reset WILL NOT return you to your original OS which is lost to you forever.
Forewarned is forearmed. If I had known I would never have downloaded Lollipop!

Yes, that was her, not fishinkanuk, it was salmonslayer. Good memory, Dan! BTW, whatever happened to Olddrummerman and Missy?
Newly
I guess the first guy, not sure, but I seem to remember a disagreement that went on for a while and he ended up in the Jailhouse and he left and his wife with him (was she fishinkanuck or something like that???).
Newly
Wasn't there also a Cpt. Nemo (or something like that) and his fish wife?
Newly
Good question, LOL.
Newly
Our pleasure, and congrats to you both. Wishing you a long and happy married life together, on and off iHub, LOL.
Newly
Great minds think alike, LOL.
Newly
Well, then, I suppose congrats are in order, LOL. It's gotta be a first at iHub. . .
Newly
But. . .but. . .shouldn't we wait for her reply first??? I mean, do we offer congrats or condolences???

Didn't you say that computer is running Win 7.1? Didn't they say you had to be running the latest version of Windows? 7.1 isn't the latest, perhaps that is the problem?

I do wish we'd hear something, but then again, I guess as they say, no news is good news!

My pleasure!

Or bring back the good ol' days when every Friday was Fry Day and we could all go to the Jailhouse board and harass the caged miscreants, LOL.

Time will tell, but IMO many people are fed-up with Windows already, and I certainly wouldn't pay a monthly fee for that OS!
Newly
Personally I've always felt that people younger than me were too young and people older than me were too old. No matter what my own age is it always feels just exactly the right age to be, not too hot and not too cold, just right!
Newly
PS I remember when we all said never trust anyone over 30 -- which later on became never trust anyone under 30, LOL!
Yes, Windows was certainly a great innovation over DOS. That said, I sill like my DOS and still work in it from time to time. At least with DOS I always knew where everything was, LOL.
