Ah, and today's news from Gareth Hatch of Technology Metals Research:
Will China Become A Net Importer of Rare Earths By 2015?
http://www.techmetalsresearch.com/2011/02/will-china-become-a-net-importer-of-rare-earths-by-2015/#comment-1021
UCore relevance from this article:
"To find out exactly what Dr. Chen meant, I dropped him a line to ask if he could clarify this notion that China will become a net importer by 2015. In his reply, he said that, “[it] is still too early to make an assertion than China will become a net importer by 2015“. He acknowledged that “[t]here is evidence that several China[-based] companies imported rare earth concentrate from CIS [Commonwealth of Independent States i.e. the former Soviet Union] last year”, as referenced in his Vancouver presentation. DR. CHEN WENT ON TO REFER TO HEAVY RARE-ERATH ELEMENTS, AND INDICATED THAT "CHINA MIGHT BECOME A NET IMPORTER SOON" OF THESE MATERIALS"
This in itself is not unreasonable to see now for UCore. What will be "unreasonable" are the ridiculously high price valuations to come for UCore. But maybe I shouldn't use the word "unreasonable" because it will be anything but that. That's the mania market we'll be in with the heavy rare-earths and that's how people will come to value UCore. This market could shift from a mania market composed of about 15-20 viable companies, to one of about three or four if people wanted to get in on the biggest gains of the rare-earth market in the near-term.
Be careful for those of you playing the short-term game. Don't want to get caught off guard. I'm not advising against it because I know people who are doing well at doing such things, but it is getting around that point in time when the 43-101 is due to roll out. Plus, with a whole year of bullish news to come out, these stocks will get even more volatile. JMO. Best of luck people
no need to sell more blood. I'm more than confident that this thing is going to do what we all hope it's going to do. The macro outlook for this sector looks more sure than ever, and if anyone was in doubts that things are over all one needs to do is look back to those last days of December and see what that news out of China was for these stocks. It's going to happen again.
It's already been realized by one of Jack Lifton's latest articles that the chinese believe their metals (REEs specifically) are undervalued. So, prepare for higher prices. Plus, this new OPEC style of regulation is really going to dictate prices, as well as cut down exports. I'm one to factor in the black market as part of exports because it seemed that was a substantial amount coming out of the country. So, with China cracking down on that with new regulations and advanced monitoring, we can understand that side of the market has been brought to zero. Also, from the Critical Metals Symposium in Vancouver, we can also come to believe that these metals out of China can be expected to decline as they will be shopping in other places of the world REEs. These are the inevitabilities I see coming, and if they don't carry UCore to higher prices than I would be pretty surprised as it would only tell me the mania side of all of this is over. And I can hardly believe that is so with Japan announcing today they are spending $1.3 billion to cut back on REEs.
As can be seen just by reading the headlines from metal-pages.com, terbium and dysprosium prices have been on the rise, and maybe more than we think. That may or may not suggest demand is increasing, and whether or not that's because supply is decreasing (perhaps from further cuts) is to be seen. With rumors of these two metals being cut altogether I would say we're sitting in a pretty nice boat called UCore. After all, it was the spokesperson from the Chinese Society of Rare Earths in that symposium in Vancouver that advised investors the best companies to invest in were the ones with high heavy rare earth content. I feel that if the REE market will come to value companies like this of similar caps to that of Avalon and Quest, mainly because our infrastructure is mostly in place to get into production soon enough. Avalon may be more than ten years out and it will take them an insane amount of money just to get them into production. More investors will learn the importance of these things, and I would hope it's this year...With a little help from some of the politicians in Alaska, it will be.
UCore specific, we've got the 43-101 coming out, and we've also got Lisa Murkowski speaking at the TREM conference March 22-23. Lifton will be there so I would almost expect him to be having conversations with her about UCore and other projects. And as you all know, Lifton is also a shareholder of UCore after Vancouver.
This is a great thing going on here. Best of luck to all UCore shareholders. It seems we've found support at these levels so let's hope it's time break that $1.70 range soon. We're wrapping up month two of this year so we've got a long ways to go with all this. It's gonna be good!
For those that are following this team, Ari Sussman and Keith Mckay have just moved into Dalradian Resources. Pretty impressive results they turn up. They already have a 43-101 inferred 1.4M oz Au @14g/t and indicated at about 400,000 oz Au @ 13g/t. Has all the looks of Continental and Colossus when they came out. They're also being covered by GMP Securities.
thanks chpbuilder. I appreciate the insight.
I think all the companies you've stated are great investments because of the values they possess. Some of those are great because of where they are on the production timeline. You're right, UCore is, at the time, looking like they would get in too late. However, the some of the highlights of UCore are:
1. Bokan is a U.S. property, thus qualifying it for the RESTART Act which would expedite and fund them to production if deemed reasonably so by any big wigs.
2. UCore has a great deposit, but it's also the quality of the deposit, being that they possess large supplies of dysprosium and terbium. If you review the GOA report from earlier this year you'll see they've stated that one of the the drawbacks of Mountain Pass is that it lacks in those two metals. Another report written by Marc Humphries also stresses the importance of these metals in the automotive industries stating that without dysprosium the resulting situation would be a "no build" situation.
3.The infrastructure is there to some degree as it was a past producer.
Again, not discrediting any of the other companies you've stated, but UCore does have its pluses. I also like Stans Energy and Tasman for some of those similar resasons. I think as Lifton describes, it's the Heavies that should be focused on. That is until other large, heavy rare earth deposit is discovered.
Speaking figuratively here, assuming there is that demand for the placement, I would imagine this placement to be filled fast. Would you know if the company is required to announce when it is filled or would they just come out around Dec. 8th and say it was filled early?
Already donated blood for those...nah, couldn't take my investments that far. Those are all great companies, you're right, but UCore is low enough that one could see bigger gains. That's the general idea anyways. I'd feel comfortable knowing Molycorp would go up from where it's at now, but I don't see it doubling or tripling in the short term.
well said chp. Thanks for the heads up. I'd consider donating blood to buy up more shares.
when there's that much of a demand for the private placement, does that mean the placement was filled in a third of the time? I'm not sure how that works. Or does it mean the placement tripled at the allotted price? I can understand that the demand is great as you say; it's just not clear what happens to the shares in this situation.
may I ask which institutions? Where can I find this information out? Great news if it's true
Looks like Ventana is going to for the buyout at over $12 a share. I'm hoping for the same with Colossus, although for more.
Not sure at all who this birdie is or what credibility I can give a statement like that. Anything can happen in the next 90 days. A little more of an elaboration always helps with statements like those so you're more than welcome to do so Phoenixgems.
yep, there is a pinksheet listing. Seems to trade a little lower than the tsx though, and with considerably less volume.
I'm going to the NY Hard Assets Conference on monday. Gotta meet these guys in person so I can talk to them one on one. Otherwise, good news today regarding the mining lease.
Yes it was, and still is. I just wanted to say something here that I sorta kept to myself as I really wanted to wait and see if it happened. I guess it's relative to some of the last few posts on this board.
Last fall I was able to attend The Silver Summit in Spokane, WA. John Embry just happened to be there and I guess that with the conference being as small as it was I was able to throw in a question about Colossus because I knew Sprott had an amount of ownership. He knew exactly what I was talking about and I remember him opening with this,"Let me tell you this about Colossus. They're either going to be really really huge, or they're going to be a complete bust." When I asked him why he thought they could go bust, he said it was because of their need to acquire more surrounding property.
I almost forgot about him saying this and I'm glad I remembered. I've been contemplating selling my shares to invest in some other companies but I think I'll have to see how they progress in the short future here. Since my little talk with Embry, they've accomplished so much. I think most of my doubt has been erased. My biggest question now is how high will they go?
This is probably the only stock in the world that could report such phenomenal numbers and go down. Where's the $30?
You know. I'm having a heck of a time getting an accurate translation of this news article. It seems like I'm only getting about 70% of it word for word. If you don't mind can you tell me, with a little more detail, about the relationships of these organizations? I'm also unclear about this exchange of emails and what exactly that was implying. It's still a little unclear to me but if you got the time and are willing to clarify that for me, it would be greatly appreciated.
you asked SFMI management about this?
Somebody wake me up when we're at 2 cents so I can debate on picking up more. Just being a pessimist but I wouldn't doubt if FINRA took a very close look at this one.
well, either way. It looks like we're on hold, indefinitely, again, until our guys get the paperwork submitted to FINRA. I wonder what that entails exactly. They probably didn't know they had to do that so that's why they're starting to get everything ready.
But, as I figured, the price is suckin it up. Load up at 2 again I guess. Go big this time
So does that mean we aren't a bigger story than the oil related stories?
Am I not a good shareholder or something?
Hey Sphindog. Honestly...what do you think of this write-up on SFMI?

I'm having a hard time selling this to myself anymore. I'm also a long, or kinda was. The way this guy writes this up, it's hard to take on anything else than a short's state of mind. The rent, lease, and royalty agreements suck HARD. In an agreement like that, SFMI management strangely can't be upset by getting screwed, because they get it goes right back into their pockets. Honestly man, what do you think of this breakdown?
No wonder they're bringing in the family...Read this article, and maybe you'll think things over, as I am. It sounds like investors are really only going to be able to lick the bowl on this investment.

Is this news regarding our new director, Christian Quilliam? Can anyone confirm this? Just inquiring

Any guesstimations as to when this mill will be completed? A completed mill is nice, but the necessary permitting is also nice. I have little idea of the list of permitting that is necessary to make this all possible, but apparently I wasn't the only one, as we all found out in Melba. Do we have ALL the permitting in place yet?
So, what kind of complications can we expect from FINRA besides whatever delay they take?
They're here to protect us so if we don't get clearance, then it's only because our management rocks. I do like the bone we were thrown today: no listing, but we've got water!
Going to look into the kinds of things FINRA looks into as I think I may have lots of time to do so.
So we're looking at yet another delay from the proposed 15th...I really wish these guys would quit throwing dates at us like that. They should use word like,"Around the 15th of October" or anything that implies an anticipated change of date. If that's what you think the delay is, then Kaiser and these guys should really be catching onto the idea that such let downs like this CAN be anticipated by them.
I say this because these guys are supposed to be the pros, and if they told you this, that means they knew of the possibility that this would happen. When are these guys going to learn that set dates given by them are actually expected by the investors and shareholders? My tip to them is to consider these dates that they choose to use in the PR's, and any possibilities that things may extend beyond them. For such an anticipated milestone, these guys yet again have let us down.
So how long? Another month? Oh I see, as Kaiser says, it's out of our hands, and up to the guy at the desk with those papers. Why not, let's wait.
OH, AND THEY DO READ THESE BOARDS
Are you kidding me? This stock has been doing this since day one. There have been a lot of unexplained things like this going on. What's up with the listing anyway? Are we on?
Good question . . .
I mean, doesn't that mean he's getting paid twice? Through SFMI as well as any annual payments SFMI owes to Goldcorp Holdings? Must be nice. Must be very very nice. Nothing to worry about though. All model companies work like this. Yeah?
lol, well yeah. That's what I was thinking. I would have given Bernie my money. I mean, why not? Everything he said sounded so good
Lol, I even had to laugh at that one also, Downside. I didn't think Madoff was trying to rip people off either. He was simply just borrowing their money right? People don't rip people off.
WHAT?!?!!? Are you telling me Rob McEwan is not on the board for Goldcorp Holdings? WTH!!! Should I dump my shares now?
are we at six cents? Do you daytraders ever find yourselves working against eachother?
pssst. UREC. Good job at getting in at 7. Good luck buddy.
I care if management knows nothing about mining. That said, even managament seems to care about the fact that they know nothing about mining, which is why they likely have stated that they are looking for new management.
lol, well I guess he missed the whole point of the question. I really don't think people have questioned what exactly this new listing COULD reveal for us come Oct 15th. This thing has been in the shadows as a pinkie since it started. I guess everyone here really really trusts what they hope to be. K, just keep the money in there and never ask a question again. That's how I should do it.
If he wants to look at it like a report card, then lets try a scenario: It's SFMI's last day of the quarter, upon which report cards come out, and they get a D. If we wanna look at it that way, it is a possibility, yeah?
I mean, they can't report as a flop out of the gates, I'm sure. But they don't have to come out with flying colors.
yeah, so what reports will we be able to view then UREC? List them off for all of us
wow, you're missing the question. Or do you even know? Does anybody in this room who is pro-company know what this new listing gains for the average shareholder?
Or is everyone just blindly yelling "yay, listing!" but with no idea of what that actually means?
Hey, before everyone starts dumping there stocks and run for the hills, could someone please tell me what else besides "truthful PR's" are the positives of this new listing?
If truthful PR's are all there is this stock is total crap. What else can we see in a new listing? Just type it out please
For instance, can we see things like how many shares management owns? Institutional ownership? Things like that. We'll be able to see current share dilutions? What are we going to see people? Nothing?
