Warner Music Group and Brilliant Technologies Announce Agreement to Offer WMG’s Catalog for Qtrax, the World’s First Ad-Supported P2P Legal Service
09/18/06
Warner Music Group (NYSE: WMG), and Brilliant Technologies Corporation (OTCBB: BLLN) today announced an agreement to offer music from WMG's world-renowned artists for streaming and limited download on Brilliant's Qtrax legal peer-to-peer (P2P) music network.
Qtrax is a groundbreaking ad-supported P2P digital content distribution system designed to provide the legal sharing, distribution and intellectual property protection of content while driving new revenue streams from legal P2P online sampling of music, and promoting digital purchase or subscription.
Audible Magic Corporation's digital fingerprinting and copyright filtering services will be used to limit unauthorized distribution of copyrighted content transferred via the Qtrax P2P network.
George White, Senior Vice President, Strategy and Product Development, WMG, said, "The Qtrax service represents an innovative business model, one that offers our artists another way to reach fans using the potential of peer-to-peer technology while ensuring they are fairly compensated for the use of their work."
Qtrax CEO, Allan Klepfisz added, "WMG, being the largest U.S.-based family of recorded music labels, has made major moves in the area of digital distribution, maximizing the earning potential of their extensive catalog. We are proud to be in their stable of preferred distributors and look forward to working with them on developing the multi-million-transaction-per month marketplace of P2P."
A leader in the sale and marketing of WMG's digital music content, WEA Corp. had the highest gain of digital track share of any major U.S. distributor in the first half of 2006, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In addition, WMG had four of the Top 10 highest-selling digital tracks including the No. 1 and No. 2 digital tracks, Daniel Powter's "Bad Day," and Sean Paul's "Temperature" in that period.

RKOM, you need to calm down, because the GOOD news is:
Qtrax is going live in 2 hours with the blessings of all 4 major labels!
thanks, your right. I couldn't figure out how to upload pic. Appreciate it
and they were posing at a qtrax sponsored event! what the heck was universal doing there if they weren't on board?
follow the link below to see a photo of allan klepfisz (CEO QTRAX) together with David Renzer, Chairman & CEO, Universal Music Publishing Group AT MIDEM. PICTURE WAS TAKEN EARLIEST FRIDAY. THEY BOTH LOOKED PRETTY HAPPY together MR PeTER KAFKA!

you make an excellent point. I'm in the meantime contacting my sources, I'm trying to determine what's up with Peter Kafka. Something doesn't smell right about him.
i think it's strange, but i have faith in the company management. a buddy of mine called earlier in the week & they sort of hinted they would be issuing pr very soon. the market is closed monday in observance of martin luther day. i'm guessing we see some pr by monday or tues.
are you referring to the midem event?
are you sure there is no spinoff planned in near future?
1. qtrax is licensed with all 4 major record labels & has catalog of over 25 million songs. spiralfrog has only one license with a major lable & has about 1 million songs
2. qtrax is licensed worldwide. spiralfrog is licensed in USA & Canada only.
3. qtrax is compatible with ipod. spiralfrog is not.
4. qtrax is p2p. spiralfrog iw not.
5. qtrax has the entire industry's full support & backing. &piralfrog doesn't.
6. qtrax has spiralfrog's former CEO robin kent (former chairman & president universal mccann)running qtrax's ad dept.......
when spinoff takes effect you will receive shares for the new company. they show up automatically in your brokerage account, you don't need to do a thing. you will also keep whatever shares of BLLN that you owned prior to spinoff.
What will most likely happen to share price is that the new company will trade at a higher price than before spinoff and your BLLN shares will probably go down substantially.dollar & cents wise, shareholders usually gain from such a transaction & that is why it's done
a 1 for 10 reverse split with a PPS of $1.00 makes our current shares effectivele worth $.10 with a market cap of $67mm which I feel is too low. In such a scenario I see PPS of minimum $1.50-2.50 & I wouldn't be surprised to see $10.00 pps
Secondly, imeem is licensed for streaming only NOT downloads. BIG DIFFERENCE
i'm not too concerned. i think we'll still see 2 or 3 pr before launch. also "qtrax has the full support of all major music labels" this means to me that the big 4 labels + artists etc will be heavily promoting qtrax themselves as they have a huge profit motive: they are getting 50% of ad revenue, so they wish for qtrax to succeed more than anyone.
now i mentioned this before, but i'll say it again, i predict limewire & similar others are going down. limewire gave the music industry the finger for years, the industry went after them w/ RIAA. this proved very unpopular among the people so the industry stopped as not to risk alienating their fans, as there was no free alternatie that the industry can profit off. qtrax is the alternative, qtrax is a model where the industry will profit from. you can expect to see the industry coming out & saying "you want free? go to QTRAX. now they will go after the illegal p2p with a vengenance & not risk alienating their fans bec qtrax is a better alternative
my evaluation is based on qtrax as a stand alone entity. BLLN today WITHOUT qtrax is worth close to nothing. If qtrax ever spinsoff from BLLN my evaluation would carry over to new entity minimum $200mm market cap at launch.
i think $.25 PPS at launch is pretty fair estimate at a market cap of $200m. Qtrax LOWEST projection of earnings for YEAR 1: $20m, considering this is their lowest projection & I think the market will give it minimum 10x. I would not be surprised if it goes to $1.00 though. Please note this is all in my humble opinion.
i DO expect qtrax as a company & obviously it's shareholders to make an enormous amount of money, I just don't think they will use that money to further commericialize that Star Can.
after launch they probably won't need any capital to commercialize this can can as everyone's expecting to make an enormous amount of money off qtrax. the question is will they? I say probably not.
i don't have any concrete info about spinoff, but i'm guessing it's still in the works. if they do spinoff it will probably be before jan 27 launch
that's why i said it's imminent ;).
any hour now, imo.

i think star can is on the back burner, possibly permanently. i'm aware of at lease 30 patents that brilliant holds besides for the star can, but similar in nature, (practical household item inventions). IMO they all pale in comparison to qtrax, & therefore there has been little effort to commercialize them recently. there are a few patents in the hi-tech arena that were recently incorporated into qtrax inc tht are being developed to work insync with qtrax as qtrax evolves.
Qtrax BETA Realease is imminent!
