As you know, it's virtually impossible to buy at the very bottom and sell at the very top (it's amazing to see the amount of iHub posters who say they do it every day, but that's another story. )
For day or week-trading low PPS stocks, it's crucial. For this, I'm satisfied with good enough.
Best of luck.
OT: Bought another chunk of HES sub-$70.
toxic rail accidents and fires=hazardous rail transport, that's what I meant. The horror of Lac-Mégantic brought this to everyone's attention:

North Dakota to require every barrel of crude oil be filtered:

This is a reaction (perhaps over-reaction) to the hazardous rail transport issue.

O.- I'm not familiar with the technical difficulties inherent in this process, but it sounds a bit excessive. An over-reaction to the rail transport issue? Your opinion appreciated, TIA.
MDGN- Finally moving after $4.10 offering two weeks ago, huge insider buying at that price, and today's news: Piper Jaffray initiates coverage on Medgenics (NYSE: MDGN) with an Overweight rating and a price target of $7.00.
Very large position here.
This morning I read that the Sierra snowpack, which counts most for the state's water supply, is still at 24% of normal for this time of year.
True, but aren't these transactions regarded as direct purchases?
MDGN- A slew of insider buy Form 4's filed today, including $1.5 million-worth by the CEO, all at last week's offering price of $4.10.
I'm in last week at $4.12.
POZN- Out starter position for small loss, oh well.
Looking back, the best time to play this was from the low/mid $7's in October to the low/mid $9's in November. Hindsight is 20/20.
POZN- From Twitter:
Jason Napodano, CFA ?@JNapodano:
POZN CEO on CC - Regulatory timeline took longer than expected, no longer made sense for SNY.
This is very unusual, a partnership canceled right before a PDUFA date. Conference call at 8:30 AM.
Re the DD on ENLK & PAGP: thanks much, will look at both.
J.-
I understand your thinking and it's certainly a valid point of view.
I probably made a mistake with EXXI, but I'm hoping with some averaging down and a bit of a bounce I can exit with only a small loss.
With HES, for me it's a more serious, long-term buy in a company I've wanted to own. Maybe there'll be more of a dip (and in that case I'll average down) but this dip was certainly good enough to begin building a position.
-Gary
Always interested, thanks.
DEW & MR. O: I'm sure that I'm not alone in thinking this, and I haven't been watching CNBC but I suspect some of their folks are saying the same thing, but after many, many decades OPEC still has us by the short hairs.
Good, I was hoping you'd say that.
Per our conversation in #msg-108475363 , I also bought HES and might buy a bit more this afternoon.
Also averaged down my EXXI position. I've only got one printable word to say about that: yikes.
Dew- This may be a blood in the streets buy scenario for oil.
Are you buying any oil names today?
Any idea how many people in the world actually have this disease?
EDIT: Sorry, found it, according to Wiki about 1 out of 1,000,000 people.
One of the best indicators I know of is immediate strength following an offering. Both FOLD and MDGN showed that today.
MDGN- My $4.12 order for 5K shares executed around 3:00, stock closed @ $4.27. Think this is going to be a good one.
Also still holding POZN.
He plans to raise the cost of the six-pill, one day Biltricide treatment from $100 to $100,000.
What?!?!
Bought on Thursday @ $7.50, probably should have waited a bit but oh well. I agree, $9-$10 short term.
MDGN- Down 10%++ on $4.10 offering. Quality small bio focusing on rare diseases. I missed the $4.11 LOD but I've got an order in @ $4.12 just in case. IMHO back to $4.50 soon.
I finally unloaded my large,10-year stash of PBR a couple of years ago at $20 after buying around $5, watching it go to $70, then ignoring the political realities and stupidly riding it down and down and down. I haven't replaced it yet but HES has been my leading candidate.
If I remember correctly, it was somewhere in the mid-$40's when I sold PBR and in a bit of a downward trend. Sometimes I get too hung up on price and ignore value (a lifelong bad habit!) and I had the notion that it was going to $25. Wrong.
So once again I've got it in my stubborn head that HES is going to $75, where I'd buy. I'll look at it more closely this week.
PS: On Zipjet's strong rec, last month I took a good-sized position in EXXI at around $6.40.
A message board search for the new IPO Cnova (CNV) goes to a former AMEX stock that had the same symbol but is now OTC, CVF Technologies (CNVT). No posts there since 2012.
TIA.
OK, thanks for your thoughts.
Ah well, had my finger on the buy button yesterday when it dipped below $8 but stepped back, my bad.
I think that the river for Goncalves is a buyout.
POZN- I think the correction is over, but who knows.
The big decision now, as usual with these bios, is to hold through the PDUFA date (any time between now and December 30) or sell the run-up. I've been burned too many times by holding, so truthfully, I'm just looking for a modest 10% or so, around $9.25.
Best of luck.
Heavy backers is putting it lightly. Just going to hold this a while, looking for $10 eventually.
CNV also in, 2K shares @ $7.50.
I think that you've previously commented on this, but what's your take on a possible buyout? Rio Tinto?
I think a $10 target is realistic.
Getting a late start, just sat down, my buy order for a starter position executed at $8.40.
Best of luck to all of us!
POZN- As I said yesterday, I like POZN, I think $10 is a more-than-doable target, and I want to get in...
but...I still think it wants to retrace back to the $8.25 - $8.50 area, so I'm still on the sidelines.
Watching closely, best of luck.
