Walter,
I imagine this Chinese strategic investment puts priority on Chinese supplies instead of US or European supplies. Means only one Brazilean supplier (with 15% foreign interest) for the USA. Puts the USA in a very vulnerable position for these strategic materials. HOwever good for Elk Creek and good for the future pricing power of suppliers.
I guess the PR has multiple audiences including technical audiences. The PR speaks about the succesfull test and light modulation in an all organic polymer ridge wave device. They are well within the time lines of their plan.
Walter, you put it right and simple. We have proven what nobody has done before. Our all organic device modulates light. This is in itself is an unique and breakthrough achievement. I hope our NDA partners will show signs of excitement very soon. The market has not understood the message yet, if I look at the current PPS. This was the all important active testing phase.
Thanks "Photonics Guy", printed it out and hung it above my bed to make sure I remember the numbers before falling asleep. Reassuring, yet conservative calculation. I will sleep better for sure.
It seems to me this action is a win-win for all involved. The company: they control the process and the PPS in the all important'financing period' and get extra financing/income, the warrantholders they get a better deal by exercising earlier ( thereby avoiding the possible excessive share sales and profit taking with negative impact on the PPS) and the current shareholders who are sure that the warrants will not reduce the PPS in a uncontrollable manner. It also means that the company wants the PPS not to be 'hurt' before the bankable FS. It seems to me the timing of this action is of significance. Love it. Something is in the make.
Special Shareholdersmeeting. Very smart, I guess this means extra financing with minor dilution
Great, thanks six. Made my day.
Agree to remove GP. Send him back to kindergarten for re-education. He might still have potential with the right positive support. Keeping him here is oxygen and life support for this individual.
Correct. No news expected. BFS foreseen imo June/ July. Between now and than , local and federal permits anticipated. I don't expect off takes before BFS is completed. German shareholder expansion is ok, but based on no concrete news, just speculation imo.
Pitcook, I was impressed with Zelibor's assessment of the strategic business alternatives available to Lightwave. I think it was X who said , let them come to us (... and start a bidding war, I guess). Zelibor and Lebby know more than they wanted to contend to our audience and are very well prepared to deal with any business proposition that may appear. They have plans A, B etc. I went away from this meeting reassured that the business side of all of this is in very capable hands. They are stubbornly doing their thing and get all the datasheets they need , they are creating industry wide awareness at the same time and will keep their destiny in their own hands as long as possible. I personally doubt that the industry will easily let go of them. Do not be mistaken, technological limitations of legacy solutions are drammatically growing by the day. Data and telecom companies are in need of a solution. As one Facebook employee was quoted by Lebby, "give me solution, I do not mind what it is, even a jar of jellybeans as long as it increases performance at a reasonable price."
Guys & Steve
Lebby showed an all industry global product programme of all the existing ( exotic and less exotic) inorganic material used and planned to be used to solve the issue of performance and price. He collected this information as part of his industry wide investigation into the quo vadis. Impressive global collection of all large and small companies (or competitors) in this field.
Most of these inorganic materials have been mentionned on this board. He showed in colours the technological brick wall the industry is facing in 2017 and 2018 : huge increases in dataprocessing requirements, the energy issues, the problems with scalability and PRICE Non of the inorganic materials is able to solve all of these issues and all will hit the brick wall before 2018. Some will co -exist with polymer photonics, but organic polymer photonics is the only material capable of solving all issues at the same time and to breakthrough this technological wall: less energy, higher performance, lower price. This kind of thing happens maybe every fifteen years, Lebby said.
Could not have said it any better. Enjoy the week-end and the ride with Niocorp.
Gary, every dollar saved on capex goes directly into cash flow. Using the universal valuation methodologies available to us regarding cash flow it means that the company value will improve significantly over and above the current valuation calculations made by Mark Smith. Great of course. However as somebody said before, we need to extract and sell first before any concrete value will be forthcoming.
Wentworth, good on you. You must have been a major contributor to the upswing yesterday. See how much power you can exercise up and down, when liquidity is low and there is limited offer available. I would pray for all longs to stay the course. A high PPS is good for financing. The more debt-financing, the better for us shareholders
People on this Ihub board may not realize how lucky we all are. The content and quality of the messages reveals the civility and the intellect of the people. Moreover I, for one, feel like sitting in the secretary's room adjacent to the executive board room. We have virtually first hand information. Where do you get that? Really no need to play on a day to day basis following the charts. I am long. I remember Mark saying he could foresee his grandchildren still having a good live living off the dividends of this company. Thanks guys.
I would not use the expression sceptism. There is a huge substantial pent up demand for scandium. I think Walter is just hinting at the logic and the sequence of the extraction. You need to extract niobium first to get scandium as a by product and that some scandium negotiators may be waiting to see if Niocorp can extract and sell all of its niobium. I was hinting at the negotiation process. Simply put, on the one side of the equation you will have buyers who want all for the lowest possible price and on the other side of the equation you have Niocorp wanting to maximize the value or price of its scandium deposit ( to create shareholdervalue). In between is time, filtering, contenders from large and layered organisations and negotiation prowess. As I said this process started in July 2015, it takes time. I donot want Mark to settle for a deal just to satisfy our impatience. I hope , like all here, that we will see news and good off take deals soon.
Walter,
This is an interesting argument. We all seemed to focus on the BFS and the 5-10 million additional funding, but I believe that those issues are now clear to almost everybody on this board. Off take agreements seem to be taken for granted. But to make an agreement you need two parties too. I really hope that Mark takes his time on this one. Third parties, customers or buyers will exploit time and their negotiation position too. On nobium we are fortunate to have the backing of Thyssen Krupp ( for 50%, possibly 100%). Dual sourcing strategies and strategic impact on the buyer side are the most likely considerations as well. I am sure Mark does not want to offer discount prices. If am not mistaken, some of these negotiations already started in july 2015. Bottom line, donot expect off take agreements too soon.
Wexworth, no offense, but if I had followed your trading (stop loss) strategy I wouldn't be where I am now. After 5 years I own more dollars (on paper) than I ever thought to own or was able to invest. Patience and perseverence in the case of Niocorp is paying off handsomely whilst the best things are still to come this year and the following. Pity you sold your 100.000 shares. You better be quick if you like to buy cheaper than 0,74.
Thanks Jim, hope we all are on the same page again. No need for second guessing here anymore.
Thanks a lot. Given the news today I will put my shares in a safety deposit.
Coincidence? My European banker informed me yesterday that their American broker would no longer deal in Lightwave. Is this a conspiracy?
'Okay, they need more time and money for the FS but they didn't really say why'
Here is my take
1. They are still investigating the metalurgy and want to see if they can reduce the current capex by simplifying the process
2. They need the money to finish the BFS and to secure money for operating costs ( they are increasing staffing) pre BFS and during the period between BFS and Financing.
I did not post on this board before ( today first two messages). Been following this board from beginning. Heavily invested in this company since 2011. Fantastic return until today. I am long and absolutely convinced this is just the beginning of very rewarding journey ( understatement). The team around Mark Smith is world class. Some people's ( including mine) expectations may not have been met yesterday, but I foresee more concrete news in the next couple of months. BFS , reduction in Capex, off take agreements (remember Thyssen Krupp wanted 100%) and BFS with NPV easily exceeding current 3Billion, cash flow betwen 500-600 million. Financing should be 'do-able' as Mark said. We have a once in a life time opportunity in our hands. Please write down the current PPS and compare this where we will be in december 2016. He did say that he saw construction start this year. This was not a 'slip of the tongue', but a 'calculated' message.
Remarks from Webcast:
"PEA2 results are solid, figures will not change in FS (only improve better), foresee construction start in 2016. All figures endorsed by reputable third party mining specialists. Local, state and federal permitting no major issues. Waiting for permission Army Engineering Corps. Process started 17 months ago, hope to have Army Corps approval shortly. To finalize BFS and to cater for operating costs pre and during financing need for 5 - to 10 million additional funding. BFS 2 Quarter/3 Quarter 2016 depending on financing. Mine life CBBM 200 years+ ( 15% sold for B$3,5) , Anglo-American Brazil 20 years ( 1 Billion purchase price), Niobec 8 years. PEA2 Elk Creek 32 years mine life , but three directions ( N/E , S/E and depth) not yet explored. Cost of production to be determined, but Niobium cost are basically zero if credited with results scandium and titanium. Water issues resolved, no freezing around vertical shaft but with conventional pumping.Time investment now in BFS will pay back later. Elk Creek mine virtulally waiting to be exploited.'
Few more days. They are almost there. Bad weather and machine repairs did nog help.
