Ombow,
You are entertaining on a free message board, but what service or good can you supply that has any market value in the real world? You haven't done a very good sales job yet. At this point, what differentiates you from someone like Stoll or Varney that ran Cortex into the ground?
MF4

And you never really own real estate. You rent it for the annual property taxes. If you ceased working, and just lived in your home, you would eventually lose it when the state auctioned it off for delinquent taxes.
How is it that the state eventually will reaquire everything? It just goes to prove that "ownership" is a nebulous concept. The government is a collective parasite that organizes (theoretically) people's talents using a skewed barter system and the paper debt instruments are the legal currency of that exchange.
And when we die, even our bodies turn to dust. We are spirits in a material world.
MF4 and GS
what does Ombow Enterprises provide that might interest me or the public?
MF4
I think Varney did a private placement with Samyang for $500K, then put it all on black. Of course, double zero (Stoll and Varney) hit and they lost everything.
I wouldn't be opposed to that bet if it were at an actual casino, but online roulette? For half a mill? Didn't anybody tell those idiots that online games are super-easy to rig? Dumbasses!
Oh well. I'm tired of funding their booze and broads too. Happy to see this thing end once and for all.
MF4
I hope the assbags that dreamed this one up find that their secret antidotes don't actually work and they die a miserable death.
MF4
Zebra,
Don't do it. I swear I will go down with the ship of Cortex. And as long as I am long, Cortex will sink. It's just a fact of life. I don't know if you are spiritual? I'm kind of confused, but in 18 years of trading stocks, I have literally bought the top and sold the bottom (+/- 10%), 90% of the time I've transacted roughly 1,000 trades.
My conclusion: God (in essence) said to me: "MF4, you will have a great life and enjoy it and prosper if you do one thing: do not trade financial instruments for personal gain". Of course, he said this to me to humble me and teach me to respect his authority. Naturally, as a human, I rebel to this day, and pay for it every time.
So, as I am slowly beginning to accept this absurd stipulation as reality, I have my days where I am grateful for all of my blessings even though I know in my heart, I could suceed wildly (financially), if not for this arbitrary forcefield in place. Though it frustrates me to no end, what good does it do a man to gain the world but lose his soul? I struggle mightily every day with this command. But it's only there because I put "winning the game" above all else, and that's why it eludes me so.
So, now I have confessed my innermost conflict and risked mockery to get to this point: you and Cortex exist in my reality. In some parallel universe, this will be wrong. If your active consciousness is in that universe, then Cortex may be wildly sucessful from here?
But, if you are in lockstep with my universe for the foreseeable future, Cortex will slowly bleed down to zero. What better way to make the point elucidated above, than to have a 16 year buy and hold investment go to zero?
I'm sorry for all of you in my reality. Cortex is going to zero. But stubbornly, I refuse to sell any, come what may.
MF4
enemem,
I can only conclude that this life is a mostly painful classroom. Perhaps, these painful lessons we learn will finally pay off when we can't enjoy the money we earn from our lessons? But, at least we can pass it on to someone that will squander it because they are too young to have learned our painful lessons. So is the circle of life. A perfect circle.
If I could do it all over again, I would be a masochist. Then, at least I'd enjoy the pain. :)
MF4
GFP,
As usual, my timing sucks. For the May option period, I owned 20 SDS calls with a strike price of 21. They were underwater most of the month and SDS closed the May period closer to 20. In the last week, I was going to sell 19 calls against my 21's, once SDS hit 21. It made it to 20.95 before pulling back. Would have profitted nicely but for a nickel. The cruel markets know my every thought and tease me all the time. Options expired and I decided not to play anymore.
So naturally, the next month, June, SDS hits 21 today and I don't have those calls. How do they know? Same story every month.
MF4
Not sure, but wouldn't AMPA rights default back to the university? If CORX goes out of business?
MF4
GFP,
Don't kick yourself too hard. I could have sold 3 small vacant land parcels for $1/4 million cash (had offers), but decided to hold, five years ago. The market is so bad now, I couldn't get $25K for them now. Foot tired. Ass sore.
MF4
Roth capital. An "analyst" for penny stocks. When they set a higher target and say "buy", that means they are the seller.
MF4
What CORX needs is a VC firm to enter into an agreement for 51% ownership of the company, then take it private. Pony up several $millions and run a well-concieved phase 3 trial to prove efficacy.
Then do $3Billion dollar IPO under a different name. I figure a $50M investment could be turned into $3B with about 50:50 odds of sucess.
Just think, if Bill Gates and his buddies bought 10% stakes for $5M each, this could be like a golf bet for the ultra-rich. C'mon Varney, think outside the box. You play poker on the internet all day. Why not use those skills you've honed and pitch this to the country club set in Irvine.
MF4
decent volume today
GFP,
That was pure conjecture, on my part.
MF4
Oh crap, you mean we haven't started the tribulation period yat? The last 3.5 years have been hell, so I was hoping we were halfway through it already. You mean it gets worse?
MF4
food4,
500K shares, ouch! I hope you didn't buy them at $5?
I think I've still got some 25K shares. Probably lost about $35K of cash. At one time ($5), I had over $50K in CORX. Man, I wish I would have sold then. Even when it was cut in half the day the corrupt FDA whacked it, would have been a great exit. Oh well.
I seem to have a closet full of these stories: FirstPlus, Commodore, Evergreen Solar, Cortex. The law of averages says I'll be wildly sucessful in the future. hahaha. yeah, right.
At least you have sucess in the food area. Speaking of which, we've got a great authentic Italian cafe nearby. It's been an awful week, yet again. I am going to treat myself to the buffet there right now. Thanks for the idea.
When the world is running down, treat yourself well.
MF4
As much as I hate CORX management, I hate lawyers more. Only thing worse is a politician on the take.
MF4
If I were voting for pompous ass of the board, I know who'd get my vote. No question about it. Have you considered the "ignore" button?
I tolerate your boorish arrogance because every once in a blue moon, you have a worthy nugget to diseminate.
No reason you have to suffer my foolishness. By the way, you might consider growing a thicker skin. just sayin'.
MF4
Neuro,
I like his input. Not everybody is holier than thou and wrong, like you may prefer.
MF4
Ombow,
they did reply. I heard them laughing all the way in New Mexico.
MF4
Samyang is selling against their book. They know they will be buying X million shares of CORX at .08, so why not sell what they have now at .12 ?
MF4
which is better looking: Varney or Stoll?
I ask because in my next incarnation, I may choose to be one or the other. It would be fun to play internet poker and have an unlimited supply of booze and broads paid for by some annonymous, impotent shareholders.
For fun, I'd read their Ihub posts for laughs. What a blast it must be to make great money bilkiing shareholders! Obviously, there's little downside!
MF4
Ombow,
I agree with the idea of getting the CORX technology in hands that have the ability to do something with it. Clearly, the bozos in management are not the right people.
But, really, you're preaching to the choir. I and the rest of the board have zero influence over management. That's the system. You pays your money and assume the management will act in your best interest. And whens they don't, there ain't much you can do about it.
MF4
If you can sucessfully sue Stoll, Varney and Coleman personally, while leaving CORX alone, I'm in favor. I consider their management to be incompetent bordering on criminal. The BOD is equally at fault.
CORX is like a vessel at sea, with a torn sail and 3 thirsty guys, one oar and a rudder with no handle that just catches currents but goes nowhere. Occasionally, when it rains, they cut up more of the sail material to catch water to drink.
Eventually, the 3 guys die of dehydration and the vessel sinks.
MF4
Ombow,
Don't forget that the lawmakers are paid quite well by the pharmacuetical lobbyists. If pot was legal, thousands would get off their prescriptions and heal themselves. Government doesn't want people bypassing the dozens of vampire economies that this country needs to tax to keep itself ever-bloated.
MF4
$500K per month is a lot of booze, broads and internet poker for the select, lucky few. Wish I had a gig like that.
MF4
Yeah. Gary didn't come across as particularly strong or confident in the recent debate. That's too bad, because he is bold and fiscally very conservative. His governorship is what we need desperately and immediately!
But, clearly the machine doesn't want him or Ron Paul in power. If Paul continues to garner support, they will discredit him somehow. You can bet it will be some milqtoast like Romney, who will gracefully lose to Obama, for another 4 years of nation-destruction.
If anybody ever had any doubt about how bad Obama is, the recommendation of that Lei guy to the appellate court should have removed all doubt. The guy is in favor of repairations (ugggh) and thinks the Constitution is open for modern interpretation. There isn't a judge on the scene that can hold an intellectual candle to Jefferson and the founding fathers.
I swear we need to bring back the guillotine and hang the whole lot of traitors in DC.
MF4
GFP,
I'm forming a hypothesis about 9/11. It goes something like this. Bin Laden was a CIA asset a few decades ago. His health was in decline and he negotiated a deal with the CIA, that he would be the face of terrorism. Fat bank account, secret location, live out his years and pay the family when he dies. He died sometime between 2000-2002. They kept his body on ice until a few weeks ago, then dumped it before anyone could see how he looked.
This Al-Awlaki guy was the mastermind of 9/11. He recruited and brainwashed the 19 guys that carried out the attack. His health is now declining so he made a similar deal with the CIA to be the next "face of terrorism" that will allow the crooks running the government to bankrupt this country by continuing this unwinnable war.
It's so neat and clean how we learn that Al-Awlaki is the new face of Al CIAda. These guys are literally the biggest mafia in the world.
MF4
At first I couldn't understand why the establishment would go after an IMF person. I just figured out why. After they tar and feather him, a rumor that he was going to bring down the cartel will surface. Every once in a while, even the evil ones go rogue, and they have to sacrifice them.
MF4
Maybe,
I'm with you on this. I tried to short it, but there are no shares available to short. Only have options, but they're worthless now. All told, I've probably lost about $15K on this turd management.
MF4
I've been unsucessfully trading dow mini futures lately. Today was the worst. I would see a move developing, buy or sell a contract with a tight stop. They would quickly take my stop out and then move in the direction I had anticipated. There were two egregious trades that stopped me out about 1-3 points before the move. Those stops cost me about 80 points because the programs kicked in and ran straight in both cases.
I am starting to wise up and not play the game anymore. I'm tired of rewarding these crooks.
MF4
I agree.
I still remember when Hank Paulson threatened martial law if they didn't approve TARP. Where is that traitor now?
MF4
A dividend would require paying taxes. Any sale of the company will result in a deductible capital loss, and a higher share price. Just sell the company now.
