Don't forget that the lawmakers are paid quite well by the pharmacuetical lobbyists. If pot was legal, thousands would get off their prescriptions and heal themselves. Government doesn't want people bypassing the dozens of vampire economies that this country needs to tax to keep itself ever-bloated.
