My answer? NEVER! In spite of crap like this:
https://finance.yahoo.com/video/causing-slowdown-ev-demand-212844809.html
EV demand is slowing?
I agree. It seems the shorts come out in droves doing pre-market and after-hours trading when the low volume helps them achieve their objective.
Snatching bad news out of GOOD
Please read the following story on The Street, which is not as bad a Tsla Basher as CNBC or Yahoo. (Just my opinion)
https://finance.yahoo.com/m/07f9cb5b-e05e-35b0-801f-25612326196c/tesla-reportedly-set-to.html?puc=yahoo&cm_ven=YAHOO&yptr=yahoo
Like most WS analysts, Morgan Stanley underestimates the value of DOJO.
THAT is momentous!
I think Morgan Stanley is guilty, like most WS companies, of underestimating DOJO.
George: I read the entire link. It seems THAT was an accident; normally, he drives a Volvo.
I had seen some mention of possiblyble union trouble for Tesla in Sweden. Now there is talk of the Swedish dockworkers who do NOT work for Tesla refuse to offload Teslas in sympathy with the strike by IF Metall. I wonder who gets hurt ,ore, Tesla or the Swedish consumer by the strike. Tesla sold over 3,000 Model Y's in September in Sweden. Interestingly no other Tesla model made the top 20. (Seehttps://cleantechnica.com/2023/10/03/evs-take-63-4-share-in-sweden-tesla-model-y-dominates/) So Sweden accounts for less than 0.5% of Tesla sales worldwide. Do we care as investors in Tesla?
Since my last post I have done additional research mainly at the NLRB website (nlrb.gov). The first thing I found is that "Regardless of immigration status, you have the same rights under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) as all covered employees". The next thing I found is that it is illegal to use an employee's immigration status against the employee. So illegal employees cannot be exploited, but the US can and is!
So, obviously, my previous post was incorrect. MY APOLOGIES.
Illegal workers have indeed added another dimension to the workplace, ANY job paying just $10 per hour seems like a golden oppot=rtunity to the newly arrived illegal, until s/he realizes that you CANNOT live on that. However, I believe that most unions require documents before an employee is eligible to join. Therefore, illegals are excluded. I have seen no stats on why union membership is rejected. So I think unions are NOT the answer. I think the =real answer is to STOP them coming into our country. THAT will help. In fact, that will also help with the drug problem, and terrorism. I am not sure I understand the blind eye over the GOTAWAYS by Biden and his administration when I think the biggest danger to our national security is the GOTAWAYS that we know NOTHING about. To me that alone makes Biden unfit to serve as POTUS.
Moon, I truly appreciate what unions have accomplished decades ago in the workplace. As I have stated before, unions have made contributions in the areas of labor safety and perhaps benefits. However, I think their time is past. Primarily because even assembly line jobs have evolved to the point that rarely do you find even two jobs that are exactly alike. I expect that trend to continue. Therefore, how can a union negotiate salaries?
JJ: The stock keeps rotating between double bottoms and double tops. The problem is that by the time, your indicators conform the breakout in either direction, the stock is usually making an about-turn, I get that solely from your posts. So, the question is, just how useful is the technical analysis?
Moon, you are obviously an intelligent person and were probably held back by your union.
Moon, I truly appreciate the opportunity to debate this topic with somebody who is not a roving lunatic like most of my Democrat friends. The topic is very close to my heart, even though I would never join a union personally.
Union contracts make no provision for individual differences. One employee with the same 'experience' level may be far more adept at his/her job than somebody else. Yet the contract requires that they both be paid the same. To me, that is socialism, pure and simple.
ALL I want is for you to buy some shares at a price you are comfortable with.
Green: You can dream!
Moon, I know there were abuses in factories snd other places. However, I am of the firm opinion that TSLA could never be where it is today, if it were unionized. Partly because most jobs at Tesla cannot be exactly defined even today. Every employee at Tesla is required to perform multiple functions. Why would a competent person hand over control of his/her pay and benefits to a Union boss?
If unions left individual pay for bilateral negotiation and focused on bulk considerations, like holidays, breaks and the like, they may serve some [purpose. But by going for one size fits all, they have two massive problems to me and others:
1. Stench of socialism.
2. Power derived from the barrel of a gun, otherwise known as a strike.
Rovlram: in order to win a unionization vote, the workers have to be disgruntled and a majority have to believe that unionizing will help in some mysterious way. I do not believe that the UAW or anybody else can unionist Tesla.
Jesper, you MAY be more right on this call than most posters.
Moon, I truly thought you were doing NOTHING but short-term options (1-4 weeks). So do you really care which way the stock goes, as long as it MOVES?
Like most stocks TSLA is manipulated by the MMs or their clients. I would venture to say that TSLA tends to see more manipulation than other stocks.
LOL
I worked as an engineer for 40 years. There was NEVER a time I felt a union could have helped me.
Sounds like sour grapes to me...
Please explain what you mean. I have said it n the board before that the ONLY people helped by unions are mediocre workers. I am not sure why you consider THIS statement “the most ridiculous”.
Green: In my human opinion, ANY worker who wants to unionize is probably incompetent, and afraid of being left behind.
Not sure what you mean!
Given what we have seen at the Detroit THREE, I sure hope Tesla will hold up against the organizers. Unions, like socialism, help ONLY the incompetent!
one reason TSLA went up today:
Tesla stock rose 1.8% to 199.96 on Tuesday, moving off a five-month low after winning the Autopilot lawsuit involving a fatal 2019 crash in Riverside County, Calif. It's the first of a string of lawsuits allegedly involving the EV giant's driver-assistance software. TSLA stock, which also bounced with the broader market, is still below its 200-day line.
As far as I am concerned, Tesla ids further ahead on self-driving technology than in EVs. No other company is even working on a system without LIDAR! As the number of my intervention-free drives goes up, the ONLY thing I have to fight continuously is COMPLACENCY!
George: Was a price mentioned during the interview? The reason I ask is that I have seen comments about a $100.000 truck.
The following story on Moley Fool highlights the kind of negativism that pervades TSLA. The thesis of the article is that Automotive Regulatory Credits Weill disappear some day. AND they contribute about 16% to TSLA profits. The article does acknowledge that "The good news for the company is that there aren't any signs of this happening in the near future". The article fails to state WHY exactly why the author expects ARC to disappear. As far as I can see ARC may be lowered going forward. If and when it is, I fully expect regulatory credits on fuel economy to replace emission credits. However, that assumes action by our broken government.

OPKO: If yo had ANY smarts, you wold buy now. I don't expect you to, though.
Chk: option 2, please!
Just for kicks I asked hatGPT to make up a story about EEVs. Here is what ChatGPT produced.
Once upon a time in a bustling city called Elektron, where innovation and technology thrived, there was a young, passionate engineer named Ava. Ava had an insatiable curiosity for clean energy and its applications. She dreamt of revolutionizing transportation to make it eco-friendly and efficient.
In Elektron, traditional gas-powered vehicles dominated the streets, leaving behind trails of pollution and smog. This inspired Ava to create a more sustainable solution. She delved into the world of electric vehicles (EVs) and began designing her own prototype in her small garage. With the support of her friends who shared her vision, they formed a team dedicated to bringing her idea to life.
Months turned into years as Ava and her team toiled day and night, overcoming challenges and setbacks. Finally, after numerous trials and modifications, they unveiled their masterpiece—the "Electra One."
The Electra One was not just an ordinary electric car; it was a marvel of engineering. It boasted groundbreaking battery technology that could charge in record time and last longer than any other existing EV. Its sleek design and advanced AI capabilities made it the talk of the town.
However, the road to success was not smooth. The city was reluctant to adopt this new technology. Old habits die hard, and people were skeptical of this new form of transportation. Ava and her team faced opposition from traditional automobile manufacturers who feared the disruption to their industry.
Undeterred, Ava believed in her creation and its potential to transform the city. She organized test drives, educational seminars, and public events to showcase the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental benefits of the Electra One. Slowly but surely, people started to notice the positive impact of these electric vehicles.
As more and more Electra Ones hit the streets, the city's air became cleaner, and the once-noisy roads grew quieter. Ava's invention had sparked a movement. People started embracing the change, leading to a domino effect that inspired other cities to follow suit.
Eventually, the success of Electra One led to the birth of a new era in transportation. Ava's dream of a cleaner and greener city had become a reality. Her dedication and unwavering belief in the power of innovation had not only transformed the way people traveled but also contributed significantly to a more sustainable future for generations to come.
The story of Ava and the Electra One became an inspiration, reminding everyone that a single idea, fueled by passion and perseverance, has the power to change the world for the better.
As I was reading the story, I kept looking for the doubting Thomases. Unfortunately, the story does not mirror TESLA's reality!
crude: Like my daughter would say to ALL negative talk: Just let it go!
George: Thanks for sharing. I have seen clips of this video before, but NEVER the whole thing. By the way, is there any way of placing an order on a semi as an investment?
OPTO: I truly think that building a company from scratch can and does provide many opportunities for doing GOOD or BAD. Forming your opinion on the basis of Elon’s struggles in the dog-eat-dog world of venture capital and start-ups is just as silly as basing a car-buying decision based on a person’s perception of the CEO of a company.
What I thought I typed was ‘ is capable’!
My wife has s car able. She may come up with a tasty recipe…
