Media and Gaming markets? NTEK, position A1.
"Rupert Murdoch Urges Media Giants to Create Netflix Competitor"
"As an industry, we need a competitor - a serious competitor - to Netflix and Amazon," News Corporation Rupert Murdoch stated at the Wall Street Journal’s WSJ.D conference in Laguna Beach, California. The problem? The company that drove MySpace into the ground has had problems competing with Netflix via services like Hulu, because to succeed they need to be disruptive -- and if they're truly disruptive they would ultimately cannibalize traditional TV viewers. As a result of this timidity, services like News Corp's Hulu wind up being little more than a glorified ads for traditional cable, unwilling to take the extra step to truly step into the ring with the rising Internet video services.

Firmware update was pulled back by Vizio - confirmed with Customer Service today. [10/28]
Currently, they are working on a firmware update and I know it includes the fixes to SME (artifacting on top of the TV).
I haven't contacted them on the CA issue - but I'm holding off near the end of my return window to exchange it in store (hopefully firmware is out there first so I can ensure SME was fixed).

This is a great thing to have given that the P652ui-B2 comes with access to the full list of major Ultra HD streaming services such as Netflix 4K, Amazon, Hulu Plus and even UltraFlix from Nanotech Entertainment.

IMPECCABLE.

FORBES: Netflix's 4K/UHD Price Hike Is Its Second Huge Mistake
Just this week Forbes reported that the Netflix share price had plummeted by almost 25% in a single day after the company revealed it had added substantially fewer subscribers than expected in the third quarter of 2014 – a failure that Netflix’s own executives place directly at the door of the across-the-board price rises announced for its streaming services in April. For Netflix to announce directly after unveiling these uncomfortable subscriber numbers a further large price hike specifically aimed at the passionate sort of early technology adopters Netflix should most want to be courting seems nothing short of bizarre. Lessons, it would appear, have clearly not been learned.

Does anyone know if Best Buy's SKU rotation is static or dynamic?
Nice tactic in this very short window of time before Ultraflix happens exactly as reported. Its going to be awesome, right? Kudos.
Huh? Who said that?

I've lost ALL impulses to defend NTEK to anyone at this point - because I don't feel NTEK needs to be defended. I'm 100% confident in the value of my current position(s) especially after what I've been learning about the unfolding of NTEK's PR'd developments. I really cannot overstate the value of this stock especially at these levels. I'm not an insider, do the DD folks, just have to make a little effort on your own to understand the value of this company. NTEK $$
"...these .05's are a bargain. We will never see them again. Better get what you can now."
Timing of Ultraflix on SONY/VIZIO TV's:
My opinion (based on responses I've received from involved companies) is that Ultraflix will role out on these new models (see below) at which time SONY and VIZIO will role out firmware updates for their existing SONY UHD Lineup (9 sets) and Vizio P Series units.
I expect the new SONY UHD TV's to hit the market in October - soon.

"...next-generation 4K Ultra HD TVs..."
Do some personal DD. Contact involved companies in PR's. I happen to be extremely excited about what is going to happen in the next few weeks leading up to Black Friday. Planning to load more as these prices (pps) are ridiculously good deals right now.
4K is a NEW FORMAT & is not included in previous HD contracts.
The stuff about to happen with NTEK/ULTRAFLIX going into Black Friday is going to be EPIC. Know what you hold here.
QUESTION: How will they "standalone"?
The HBO Library is currently available to all Amazon Prime members, regardless of a subscription to a Cable or Satellite Provider.
Netflix became a victim of its own success. Once content providers saw how popular streaming was becoming, they jacked up the price of their content. Netflix’s success also attracted new competitors to the market (like Amazon), and encouraged existing competitors (like HBO) to invest more in streaming. “The calculus here is simple,” Ulin told me. “There’s lots more competition for viewers. That means it’s harder to get content. And the content you do get costs more.” In the past few years, Netflix has lost thousands of movies as licensing deals expired, and this year it will pay at least three billion dollars for content (much of it on children’s programming and television shows). Though Netflix still streams plenty of great films, no one really thinks of it as a dream video store in the sky anymore. “Netflix used to really emphasize the breadth and depth of its catalogue,” Dan Rayburn, a principal analyst at Frost & Sullivan, told me. “Now it puts a lot more emphasis on its original content.”
Ok, take it easy there bro. It's clear that Amazon is prepping to launch, which, is a good thing for NTEK shareholders. The more reason people have to buy and consume 4K content, the better. Glad you could find the link, congrats.
"Is UltraFlix competing with Netflix and the other OTT services for streaming rights to UHD titles? I remember at CES hearing that UltraFlix had a number of exclusive streaming rights to some very popular movies."
Marken: Actually we have a good relationship with Netflix and the other services. We are building out UltraFlix as a definitive UHD channel for viewers. If you want to watch the best in UHD content you go to the UltraFlix channel and choose from the various UHD options – Netflix, clothing design, home design, travelogues, TV series, movies, etc. Then you can choose in the various venues. If you click on Netflix you have everything they offer in UHD. We are working to enhance UltraFlix just as Netflix and Amazon have enhanced their engines so it learns from your search and viewing habits and brings up the most logical options first or makes intelligent suggestions based on your past history. In a different light if you have been playing MMO [massively multiplayer online] games– free, freemium, premium – in the Google catalog it will offer up similar single, group, MMO game suggestions. Yes we do see the Nuvola box being very widely purchased first as a UHD streaming entertainment/information solution but also see it becoming a sweet game playing unit and if Nielsen and other research bears out more games will be played than video entertainment. The differentiator here is that the Nuvola box as designed first to be an outstanding streaming media player. Open source gaming is almost a free add-on whereas other boxes are for games first (and limited to their platform) and then streaming video was added. We took on the tougher task and are delivering. The others took on the easy requirement and then slapped video on top to let closet gamers say they were buying the unit for their kids or that they were buying it for the OTT content they could view. UltraFlix is 100% focused on being the number one in UHD content delivery which is why we have been so aggressive in accumulating the largest single source library for all types of UHD video content.
Actually, in my DD, I've discovered that Amazon, in their apparent testing stages, did let a UHD title "slip" onto their streaming network recently:
...however, Amazon has NOT yet officially released their UHD lineup for streaming yet. I did actually end up watching the movie in HD, classic revenge plot - entertaining if you know what to expect.
Hopefully both NFLX and Amazon update their Android apps to allow 4k streaming that is compatible with the NP-1 - would be a bonus.
FORBES on Vizio, Costco: "4K Ultra HD Inches Closer To Mainstream Adoption" ...but it’s the P-Series’ price points and VIZIO’s penetration in discount chains like Costco that will grab consumer attention. When viewed side by side with similarly priced HD televisions, the UHD / 4K VIZIO P-Series is going to look mighty tempting. Even if there isn’t as much native 4K content available just yet, there is some, and 4K displays can scale 1080P content just fine—it’s a clean 4-to-1 ratio (4K displays have 4x the number of pixels at 1080P displays, 8.29MP vs. 2.07MP).

Director of Research presents new 4K research at TV Xperience World 2014
Submitted on 10/14/14, 07:12 AM
Dallas, Texas, Tuesday, October 14 - New research from Parks Associates finds more than 46 million households worldwide will subscribe to a 4K UHD pay-TV service by 2018. Pay-TV providers will deploy this service as a differentiator, especially among younger consumers who are more likely to use new pay-TV features, such as TV Everywhere and cloud DVR, but also have slightly lower subscription rates for pay-TV services. In the U.S., 82% of consumers 18-22 have a pay-TV subscription, compared to 87% among older consumers.

"To enjoy the true benefits of 4K, three things need to be present: the television, the content, and a way to get the content to the TV," Sappington said. At TV Xperience, we will discuss these challenges and recommendations for industry players as they plan for a 4K world."
