Firmware update was pulled back by Vizio - confirmed with Customer Service today. [10/28]
Currently, they are working on a firmware update and I know it includes the fixes to SME (artifacting on top of the TV).
I haven't contacted them on the CA issue - but I'm holding off near the end of my return window to exchange it in store (hopefully firmware is out there first so I can ensure SME was fixed).

Can't help but wonder what else is in that firmware update.
