Obama hasn't had time to fail or succeed, so just chill. This was a giant mess he inherited, and will take at least a full year to see if it works or not.
Meanwhile, If I was him, I'd wake up every morning thinking "why the fuck did I ever want to be president".
Bush did create a lot of this mess. He just wasn't in touch with reality over the last four years.

Probably, then a rally into summer, then another big leg down, then and Oct 09 bottom, IMO.

There's a really good chance the Dow will see 6500 in the next few weeks.

How much could we get for Hawaii?? eom
Probably not a good idea to read too much into overnight futures prices on Sunday nights. Just overseas traders positioning, often move it one direction to sell into AM follow through in the US.

Need a question answered if anyone knows please.
Are there any special daytrading margin requirements for ultra etf's or is it same as stox.
TIA
Buzz
No, it went up 100 bucks in a day back in october.eom
Question re: ETF's for anyone that knows ....
Are there different daytrading margins on the ultra's compared to stox?
TIA
Buzz
That's wben movie tickets were a dime and there was no cable, dvd, satellite, tivo, etc. At 11 bucks a pop, hollywood will feel this one.
Buzz
LOL, I'm in third and gave my "DD" and thought to the contest a whopping ten minutes.

UYG got margin calls loooooong ago, pun intended. eom
Is daytrading margin the same on ETF's as stox? Or do the ultra's have less margin available?
Buzz
Yeah, CNBC really tried to trash the smart car and say there's no need since oil is down so much. Of course, CNBC is always behind the curve.
I thought Erin's "bumper car" comment was totally out of line for a supposedly unbiased reporting network.

But one of these days, Iran may jump in with full force and a few dirty bombs. They have a nutjob running the country so wouldn't surprise me a bit.
Buzz
Oh give me a friggin break. Palestine has said repeatedly, along with most of the rest of the Arab world, most notably, Iran (technically persian, but lets just lump em into one big aaaa-rab group), that they want the complete elimination of Israel and every Jew who lives there.
Don't try to blame Israel for this. Palestine broke the cease fire with a non stop rain of missiles, a few of which hit a school and a hospital.

The other half on some giant ferris wheel company.

You better DD TSTC. One of the few stocks I've been buying and will continue to do so. .60 per share in cash, no debt, and a trailing p/e of 2.56.
As we mentioned in early July, despite the anticipation of Telestone's domestic business being impacted by the Beijing Olympic Games to be held in August, in light of the Restructuring currently under way and the promotion plan for Telestone's new products, the Company believes that its 2008 full year revenues and net income will grow by at least 20% compared with that of 2007. With the Restructuring expected to be completed in 2009, Chinese telecom operators are expected to increase their capital expenditures in indoor coverage networks and the Company therefore anticipates 2009 revenue increasing around 100% from that of 2008.

Ahh, I have a hook and ladder, a sweep option pass to the guard and center going out, a sweep passback to the QB bomb that we got 30 yards on in our final drive, a couple of misdiretion counters, 2 reverses, a statue of liberty, and my own invention, a lineup I call chaos that is modified trips with 4 wide on one side, a 5th 4 yards behind them, center and QB alone in the middle, and one guy split wide on the other side. QB passes to back guy who throws it to one of 6 receivers out for passes. Then we have a play where the wide guy goes in motion, QB fakes the pass, slips him the statue of liberty, then he passes deep.
My kids are in great shape. We do a lot of suicides and lateral motion drills. Their problem is TOO MUCH energy, which then shortens their focus.
We are 8 man elligible, and I have 2 plays designed to go to every kid on our offense. I promised them every kid would score this season, and 10 of 12 have so far. I'm putting in special plays for the 2 that haven't for our last game. I won't break this promise to them.
Buzz
Too bad tupoc's dead. eom
Actually, my biggest goal with them has been fulfilled over the last two games. Teamwork. They're a bunch of kids who all want to be stars, but very few are willing to do the little things it takes to win games. And a couple of my real offensive weapons, great athletes, but if it's a play where they don't get the ball, they kind of phone in the play. Don't block, don't run a good pass route to decoy, etc.
But the last three games actually, I think I finally have them believing in total "teamwork". It's getting them to grasp the concept that it's not "I want to make a great play so my team can win", but it IS "I will do what my team needs me to do on every play so the team wins". Now that they're grasping that concept, and with the confidence they have now, I think we've come a long way.
Next year is my last season with them, but we'll be the team to beat next year. Several coaches who I'm friendly with have already said they're really not looking forward to how good we might be once these kids really focus.
They're just a funny, headstrong, kind of wild group of kids, most of whom I've known since kindergarten.
Buzz
Much more importantly, my team had our next to the last game yesterday. I volunteer coach my son's 5th grade 8 man flag football team. And let me tell you, even though it's flag, it's very physical, bruised, bloody, etc at the end of the game. These kids hit hard, and some schools who emphasize sports hold kids back. There's some 5'8", 150 lb. kids in our league. This is age 10 and 11.
So anyway, I've got a relatively small team, but very fast. I have the 2 fastest kids in the league (finished 1-2 in the 100m league championships last year), and QB with a great arm, but very slow, which hurts, and probably the best blocker in the league - my son - who has had the shit beat out of him for 10 years by his two older brothers, so is just tough as nails and loves hitting. Seriously, he knocked down 2 kids on one block in one of our games - domino effecct - and the other teams' kids are usually scared of him half way through the game which makes him a terror on defense at middle linebacker.
So anyway, my team's problem is focus. I never know which team will show up - the one that has lost three games this season, including to one of the worst teams in the league, or the won that has won 3 games, all by shoutout, including two of the best teams in the league.
Yesterday, we played the best team in the league, they came into the game 6-0. I'm talking to their coach before the game, and he's a smug asshole, and basically said he can't "hold his kids back", so not to get mad if they run up the score. Our league has a "sportsmanship" rule - not really enforced - that we're supposed to back off with a 3 TD lead in the second half. So this really pisses me. I'm pretty intense as a coach as it is, but this really gets me going. So I'm all over my kids on every play. I want it all perfect.
We run a really complex defense, based totally on zone discipline, lateral motion, and total team speed. Motto is simple - bend but don't break. We don't give up the big play. So my defense goes out and just plays like champs in the first half. 0-0 at half time. But I'm furious because our offense had several great drives, only to brain fart them away with consecutive offsides penalties, clipping penalty on the complete other side of the field from where the play was, or my personal favorite, the kid who went in motion on a play that doesn't have motion, and just happened, of course, to be right in front of the center when the ball was snapped (I run everything out of the shotgun), and it hits him in the hip for a fumble. This on first and goal from abou the 12 (we play 20 yard lines - make it to the line for a first down). So I've got my offense moving the ball but then killing every drive with mental farts, and my defense playing great.
So anyway, 4th Q starts, they get a drive benefited by a few penalties (my son threw a kid to the ground by his shirt instead of pulling the flag, lol, cause the kid had given him a cheap shot the play before), and they end up 4th and goal at about the 8. They come out in a split double trips formation, so I call timeout, set up my defense into an alignment we've never run, and they score on a pass to the corner of the endzone. My fault - didn't explain how I wanted them to play it. So they go for 2, but we stop them. 6-0, they kick off, we get the ball back with 3 minutes left.
So I just get all over my offense about how crappy they've played, and how they need to focus, and to make this personal now because we're on our field, our house, and it's time to stand up for themselves and everybody do what they're supposed to for the team. I mean, I'm on fire.
So my stupid kids score in 4 plays. Seriously, at one point, I told them to huddle and didn't send a play in to let the clock run down (we had first and goal at the 4), and called timeout at the last second cause I don't want to leave them any time. Well we score on the first play back, then go for 1 on the extra point (1 is two yards out, 2 is 5 yards out). We take the lead with 1:45 left in the game, 7 to 6.
So they get the ball back with all their timeouts and drive down to about our 15 with 45 seconds left. We play on 80 yard fields, btw. We sack their QB twice in a row (I have small fast kids at DE that are impossible to block they're so damn quick off the ball), so they have 3rd and goal from about the 25. They throw a corner pass to their 5'8" kid, we have him doubled, my 5'2" CB cuts in front of him, times it perfect, goes up for the int, and their kid literally grabs his shirt, throws him down, and catches the ball!!!! I've never seen anything like it. Their sideline is jumping up and down like crazy thinking they scored, and I'm just watching the ref very quietly, and see the yellow flag go. I mean, I hate penalties at the end of the game - let them play - but this was the most obvious case of offensive pass interference I've ever seen. THeir coach goes ballistic, and it's me and him in the middle of the field with the ref, who says "coaches, I don't think a ref should determine the outcome of a game, but I can't let it go when your player threw his player to the ground by his shirt and then caught the ball". I'm just saying nothing and smiling.
SO now they have 4th and goal, same play, we intercept, down it, run the clock out, win 7-6. My kids just go nuts after the game. So we line up, hand shake, and their coach says to me "must feel good to win on a bogus penalty". I nearly punched him, but just said, "great game coach, you have a great team, and I decided to hold my kids back today and do just enough to win" .... walked away.
Anyway, love those kids, and if I can ever get consistency from them, we'll be the best in the league. Seriously, my defense has only given up 5 TD's in 7 games. When we lose, it's like 6-0 or 12-8. When we win, it's like 28-0 usually. Just gotta figure out how to keep the mental mistakes out of my offense.

"We" won what? I didn't even vote. I excercised my right to "not vote", which I believe is protected by the constitution. I hate politics. Want nothing to do with them. Just leave me alone and don't fuck things up to bad, that's my motto.

Hope so. The only thing I don't like is they're so damn quiet. You can't tell if they're running or not. It's a little disconcerting at first, oddly enough.

There's only one thing that really matters with a President, because in the end, they don't really do a lot on their own.
What caliber of people does he surround himself with.
Regan and Clinton had top notch advisors and cabinet members. Bush was surrounded by idiots for the most part.
All that really matters is, how sharp are the people that Obama brings in to "advise" him.

The fun thing about electric cars is, electric motors generate more torque than combustion engines, and the torque is "instant" as opposed to "lagging". Years ago, I drove a friends EV1 and was shocked that in a front wheel drive electric car I could burn rubber for about a block.
