eagleye-just last March we were hoping SIRI would go over $1 and stay put. This is a long term winner, but you need to buy while it is still low. I feel it is going to be 2-3 dollar stock by 2012 for sure.
After March 6, 2012 Malone-Liberty can do whatever they want with regards to purchases of Sirius XM. Plus, the Sirius XM shareholder rights plan also expires (another key) opening Sirius XM up to a possible takeover by just about anybody. However, with Liberty already holding 40% I doubt anyone else will make an attempt.
It might be that Liberty's stake in Sirius will split-off into a new company (WRSPQ) after August 1, 2011 and a merger of Sirius XM into that company. It makes the most sense on all sides, while allowing Liberty to do just about whatever they wish without any taxable event. (another key incentive to not rush)
I got the whole in one buy 20k and only spent 7 dollars on Scottrade.
FINALLY got my shares I wanted at the price I wanted.....lol
Me, me and me put in an order, hoping.....lol
This was interesting about XM. Still think it will come down to bandwidth. That is the highway all these Media Companies have to travel.
XM holds approximately 1.5 million shares still, however XM had been writing it down quite a bit. I think the value of it was less than $3 million on XM's books.
XM purchased the shares (and got some warrants too) in a complex deal when WRSP did their IPO. In exchange for XM buying in to the IPO... WRSP gave up their rights to 4 music channels worth of bandwidth that WRSP was entitled to... as well as rights to royalties that WRSP had in XM. These items go back to the early days of Mobile Satellite Radio, when WRSP owned big portions of XM -- when they sold out, they retained the rights to a portion of XM bandwidth and royalty payments, since XM used their repeater technology.
While many shot down XM's $20 million investment in WRSP, what they don't understand is that this $20 million was really a buyout that XM was making -- buying out WRSP's rights to a large chunk of bandwidth, as well as their rights to royalties. It may not have made sense at the time -- but now, it should make a lot of sense in the grand scheme of things. XM really needs that bandwith and lowered royalties.
This might have something to do with us, got it from SIRI board (turbodog) Or is it only Canada connection? I don't think SIRI has any Euro connections.
Nice... we locked down the Euro-Football!
Does SIRI support international subscriptions?
If we do this could be a big boost in subs.
If not, it's pretty much irrelevant.

Ditto!!! Oprah's new Network is going to be hooked to SIRI via Gayle King, just read it in the TV Guide.

Yup. no dice, now it went up, oh well I have enough, I am being greedy...lol
Strade still won't fill my the rest of my order.....;o{
Bought my firdt ones Dec 2nd, 2009 now over a year.
Bought more, but they wouldn't let 20K go through, considered it day trading, because I sold some SIRI and bought yesterday WRSPQ. Maybe they will let it go through by Friday, probably too late for 0.007, though. They let 30K through.
Am I thinking crazy (straighten me if I am), could something similar happen to WRSPQ as SIRI with Malone? Like if he buys half the shares (which is not much), lends them money to build it up and later maybe buy it, which I suspect he will with SIRI in 2011.
Where is NY73 could use his practical mind?
A friend called and said he wants to buy 40K more before our 1 P.M. close (West Coast time). He is on his way to Scottrade office right now....;o} We'll see if he can buy it at the low price.
WRSPQ will have to do a forward split, there just aren't enough shares. We all might double re shares, sweeeeet.
Thanks Turbodog great video. Faber had to make a dig, just can't understand why all CNBC people won't be in SIRI's favor. Everyone else like them. This has been from year 2000. I used to cringe every time any of them brought SIRI up, that was when XM was the competitor. I will be so happy when they HAVE to be enthusiastic......lol That will be the day.
I did get some more, paid more than I wanted....;o{
Wonder how this will affect or has affected this situation. Never saw this info:
India to relax DTH ownership rules
Chris Forrester ©RapidTVNews
30-06-2010
India’s Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRAI) is recommending that its current foreign ownership rules for broadcasters be dramatically revised.
TRAI is suggesting to government that the current 20% foreign ownership rules be relaxed, and set instead at 74%. The changes, if authorized, would mean foreign investment and thus ownership of DTH broadcasters, IPTV operators, mobile TV players, digital TV companies, teleports and multi-system operators of cable TV systems, would be raised to 74% ‘non-Indian’ ownership.
Exceptions would be local cable operators (26%) and all-important FM radio operations (also 26%, up from 20%). Another exception is in the provision of news and current affairs TV channels where again ownership stays capped at 26%.
TRAI has submitted its proposals to India’s Information & Broadcasting Ministry.

P.S.
Good thing the party is in the south, at the rate the airports are doing in the north, we could all become little popsicles.....lol

Oh my have to get some more shares, think I waited too long.....:o{
I just can't shake off the idea that Malone has a bigger picture here. He has one foot in SIRI and the other in WRSPQ, to me that is important. If he really doesn't have any interest in WRSPQ, why didn't he just step out of it. Would love to be a fly on the wall in their conference room. Just speculating of course.
This is the only fully Global Sat. entertainment company (like SIRI).
I am going to try anyway.eom
Wow GREAT find MGTY1. Knew it, nobody builds a website just to be building it. Looks like something quite big is coming, see the alfabet looks like all 26 letters....LOL
You are right, just before Apple went on Holiday got an email that my app. can be promoted around the world. Apple ordered 21 Mil. iPads, lots of global stuff going on.
This is part of the email
*******Promo codes can now be redeemed through any App Store around the world.*****
Why would they restructure the company (chapter 11 BK) if they had no plans, doesn't make sense. They would have just gone chapter 7. If the shell is clean, which it seems like they have accomplished, that alone is valuable. Plus the NOL's.
.
OVER 1 BILLION Shares of SIRIUS XM is NOW owned by INSTITUTIONS..
Oh yes, didn't own any for at least 6 years, bought Feb. 17th -09. Was trying to buy when it was .11 but my Money Direct took 3 days to clear so had to wire money in. Waiting long term, sold enough to get my original investment back plus profit. Sitting on free shares........:o}
We must have bought in the same week.....:o} Was in SIRI early 2000 sold before Howard came on board. Sold at around $4.24 held it couple of years.
The iPhone to Gain Radio & Interactive Radio Map Functionality
......In our opening cover graphic you could see a partial of patent FIG. 5 which covers satellite radio. Apple states that the iPhone's radio will work with XM or Sirius satellite radio stations – beyond the basics of AM and FM.........

Market is down SIRI holds steady. Great
Can you get on their site yet? I haven't seen any news or anything to spec.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Sweet....lol
Wow what low volume and it jumps so high. I don't know about the NOL's, but Liberty is still there, if they pull out I would be jitterish, but sofar so good.
Knowing how Kramer has ignored or looked down his nose about SIRI over the years, he would have egg on his face if went against the trend and the trend is up....;o} It is obvious how good SIRI is doing.

The Hottest Hedge Fund Stock Of All? FOX business news
November 12, 2010 12:27 PM
by Brian Sullivan
It's that time again.
The season when hedge funds are forced to file their holdings sheets (known as 13-Fs) to the SEC. The funds don't want to do it .. they love their secrecy, after all .. but as of a few years ago the largest funds were forced to do it by regulators.
The filings are lengthy, dry and, frankly, a pain in the you-know-what to go through, but it's perhaps the only insight we have into what these hedge funds and their superstar managers are really doing with their money.
This morning I manually dug through the 13-Fs for two big funds; Apollo Management and Renaissance Technologies.
Among their biggest holdings (by share count) a few things caught my eye, but nothing more so than the fact that both funds had one stock as their single largest holding: Sirius XM Radio (SIRI).
The up-and-down story of Sirius XM is well known, and the stock is well off its highs of a few years ago, but it's interesting that both Apollo and Renaissance apparently feel, or felt, there was much hidden value here. Indeed the stock has nearly tripled from its lows of the past year.
Keep in mind that these SEC filings are from last quarter and so the holdings of these funds could have changed over the past six weeks (perhaps why SIRI is off its highs). But regardless, interesting insight into a once-loved stock that is now very loved by two huge players.
For the next few shows I'm going to pore through these filings and pluck out more stocks that are hot with hedge funds. Tune in!

LOL....ALL the stocks are down today, even the biggies had a haircut. I have a feeling that when SIRI goes up so does Worldspace, or so it seems anyway.
This is an interesting view of SIRI's future: Could happen. Found it on another board
THE REAL REASON I'M LONG SIRI 10-Nov-10 08:05 am
Besides the fact that satellite radio offers more choice, better quality and better sound when I'm driving to work, the upside is HUGE.
Forget about the 20 million subscriber base that is growing and has the company cash-flow positive throughout 2009 and 2010.
This is just the beginning of something much much bigger, a business plan that Mel hatched a long time ago.
The subscriber revenue merely keeps the lights on so to speak.
The real money is in SiriusXM's ability to reach motorists on the street with an ad based version that will be offered for free. All those people that refuse to pay for radio and laugh at the notion? They'll be converted to loyal listeners overnight with a listening experience that, while having it's fair share of commercial interruptions, still BLOWS AWAY AM/FM.
We're not only talking fewer ads overall but more music to choose from, less static noise, and therefore more pleasure.
When Sirius offers this basic ad supported version it will capture the billions that go to AM/FM in ad revenue. This capital can be used to expand overseas. When that happens, SiriusXM becomes an international advertising hub.
In the retail market, Sirius 2.0 will provide music listeners with the same opportunities as they have at the iTunes store. People will be able to tag, playback and purchase individual songs, live concerts, sporting events and exclusive talk/content. Apple rakes in around 1 billion dollars per QUARTER through iTunes yet Sirius will be able to offer more exclusive content.
Between international advertising revenues, an expanding subscriber base and profits from the sale of downloads for mobile devices like cell phones, lap tops and portable MP3 players...Sirius is going to erase debt and buyback shares MUCH faster than people expect.
I'm not selling until $40/share.
2-10 years.
I can wait.
Those guys need their jobs and if they are too positive, it might look funny. Plus many parts of the stock market makes money when there is churning. SIRI is notorious for its trade-ability/liquidity. SIRI has been a target for years and obviously still is.
