I brief histiry of meth itself...
BTW, the Japanese soldiers used meth extensively throughout WW II and as a result had a huge number of veterans dependent on the drug after the war.

Cappy, in serious reply to your "help me understand" post:
There is no need to interpret that data, it is obsolete. If you surf down enough obscure links you can always find outdated information that may be a little confusing at first. I recommend you go directly to the Ahura website where you will find the latest information and news.
BTW, not only is no interpretation of test results necessary, the FirstDefender has marvelous expert system software that can analyze mixtures and display probable compositions. If you read the Army test report you will see many excellent examples.
I really think CDEx should consider obtaining a license to use the Ahura software in Valimed, either that or develop their own. Valimed would become smart and more useful with expanded applications !
Demmo47 answered a couple of your questions.
From the Navy contract specs:
"must be able to identify materials in either free air, contained in a plastic bag or contained in glass vials; self contained with a built in computer requiring no outside components to function; must be able to function in a temperature range of -20C to +40C; must have a rechargeable battery with 5 hours of operational time; must be Mil 810F shockproof; waterproof and ruggedized; next day loaner availability, and a 24-hour support line."
-20C! Brrrrrr... dats cold! ;)
If the CDEX meth gun could incorporate some of FirstDefenders fine features and be capable of true trace detection as well, it would be a winner in my opinion.
Help me understand
Once in a lifetime
You'll open up your heart
Maybe once in your lifetime
You'll swear to never be apart
You think your love's on solid ground
Then out of the blue, it all comes tumblin' down
Who's gonna hold me tonight
When I'm feeling lonely
Who's gonna show me the light
'Cause I need to know
With all the things we've go
How can love just stop
Tell Me
Somebody help me understand
And my picture in your locket
What will you do with it now
All our friends and all our memories
Tell me how we sort them out
What's yours is yours
What's mine is mine
Is that all that's left
After all this time
Who's gonna hold me tonight
When I'm feeling lonely
Who's gonna show me the light
'Cause I need to know
With all the things we've go
How can love just stop
Tell Me
Somebody help me understand
Help me understand
Why I'm not part of our plan
And you don't need me anymore
Help me understand
Why I still wanna be where you are
Even though I know in my hear
You don't love me anymore
Who's gonna hold me tonight
When I'm feeling lonely
Who's gonna show me the light
'Cause I need to know
With all the things we've go
How can love just stop

I think CDEx needs to model themselves after this company.
I really do.
Ahura FirstDefenderTM Handheld Chemical ID System Now Listed on the Responder Knowledge Base
May be eligible for grant funding under several DHS programs.
Good read, CDEx needs to do this if their meth gun can support a broad enough market.

Remmeber when Loch tried to claim that they were endorsed by GSA and GSA made them retract the statement on their website?
I guess they didn't go thru the proper channels like Ahura, a potential competitor of CDEX.
If the CDEx meth gun proves useful for trace detection, they should do exactly what Ahura has done IMO.
Paige,
" Ahura Corporation is pleased to announce that its state of the art FirstDefender Handheld Raman Spectrometer has been recently awarded a Federal Supply Schedule contract from the General Services Administration (GSA), simplifying procurement for federal agencies and other customers with authorization to purchase from the Federal Supply System."
This also makes it easier to get that Federal grant money, not for development, but for purchasing the unit.
"Can you...Show me a contract that they have "nailed"."
They don't need to advertise contracts to sell penny stock. They have many contracts including the US Army. First defender is deployed throughout Iraq.
"In its current form, FirstDefender is a portable, 4-lb. box that costs about $30,000, which means you won't find it in every cop car quite yet."
The FirstDefender sales from $31K to $49K depending on whether one chooses the 1 year warranty/support package or the 5 year package.
"YOU WON'T FIND IT IN ANY OR EVERY COP CAR YET??..wonder if they heard the news about us??"
Yes you will, not "every" , but some. They're working on tapping into the federal grant program to improve that. And "No" they haven't heard about CDEX... until now.
On the other hand, you won't find any CDEx meth guns in cop cars so you really shouldn't bring that point up. And how much will a meth gun sell for?
Honestly Paige, the only way I can see CDEx competing with this company is if CDEx can once again find a niche application for trace detection of very specific chemicals.
Our on-line stock promoters need to start convincing potential investors how big that market is going to be and how it will save the company from bankruptcy.
I don't believe that the meth gun can compete in any application other than when trace detection is absolutely 100% necessary and there are several other companies ALREADY SELLING INTO THAT MARKET.
One more note, the FirstDefender will not be the size of a cell phone in the future. Ahura is working at the request of a governmnet agency (they wouldn't say which) to reduce it to "about the size of a Palm Pilot".
The FirstDefender is deployed with The Department OF HLS, Hazmat Teams, First Responders, Bomb Squads, and Law Enforcement all over the US.
Just had a nice chat with some folks at Ahura.
How does this relate to CDEX?
They may be competitors if CDEX is successful at bring their meth gun to market.
The FirstDefender does not do trace detection, only minuscule detection! LOL
For anything other than trace, I don't believe the meth gun will compete. The FirstDefender has a library of over 1000 signatures and can detect over a million mixtures based on those signatures using some very interesting software.
It appears that once again CDEX is targeting a very niche market IMO- "the same marketing model as with Valimed".
Xeno,
If you haven't visited the Ahura website you need to check it out. This FirstDefender device is amazing and the technical staff the company has behind it is amazing.
http://www.ahuracorp.com/index.html
This company is far from a struggling penny stock hussle.
The Ahura website is a wealth of information. One of Arloco's best posts!
Their device is going to be the size of a cell phone before long!
I'm very, very impressed.

DocDwight would find their expert system software very impressive:
Mixture analysis software identifies the components of mixtures in seconds, extending the library to billions of combinations
There's a very interesting functional description of the software:
http://www.ahuracorp.com/first_defender.html
Looks like Ahura has already used a similar marketing model as CDEx:
Based on Ahura’s patented optical engine Raman spectroscopy , Ahura's FirstDefender the only light-weight, ruggedized, handheld Raman Spectrometer that has been developed in collaboration with first responders.
Lots of interesting information here:
http://www.ahuracorp.com/first_defender.html
FirstDefender is being deployed by civilian and military first responders as well as by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), environmental consultants and HazMat response teams across the US and around the globe. First Defender helps these organizations identify chemicals, WMDs, IEDs, hazmats, explosives, narcotics and more. First Defender plays a mission critical role in forensics, airport security, port & container security, environmental cleanliness, water safety and pharmaceutical authentication.

LOL!! Thank you (for) making that clear to readers WMFT!
"d4diddy, your post includes a question:"
Hi Cap, my post (and other posts) include not just "a" question, but many questions. I believe that all the questions need to be addressed by CDEX management in order to attract new potential investors.
It’s a hand-held device that uses ultraviolet light to DETECT EVEN THE MOST MINISCULE amount of methamphetamine so officers no longer have to handle the substance or destroy evidence
"Miniscule" [sic] just doesn't seem small enough for me! LOL! I've personally never heard the word "minuscule detection" ever used. Say the phrase to yourself Cap. Now admit it, it does sound a little strange doesn't it? "Trace detection" is the terminology used in industrial and military circles.
What ever happen to calling a spade a spade?
Was that an official quote by Griffin, or Foster? Will it be in the Meth Gun specifications:
Limits of Detection (PPM): Minuscule
Is Bulk > Minuscule > Trace the correct order?
Ahhhh, Cappy so many post of yours, too many dots and not enough fundamental investment questions answered.
Oh well, I think it's something you just enjoy doing, kinda like an investigative reporter.
I bet you're a Columbo fan (sorry Scared), I must say, you do have some of his talents and ways about you.
Scared,
"I just dont know where the money is going to come from. I still dont know if the legal action is hurting whatever sales the company has. Way to many questions for the pps to rise, IMO."
If Griffin's forecast of 200 million in five years is remotely accurate, I can't see how there won't be some investors with the foresight to gamble some on a high yield investment.
For the market in general, the problem is convincing potential investors that CDEx technology is unique and has clear marketing advantages over other existing technologies. Griffin has to convince investors his forecast is possible and he just didn't pull it out of his hat.
So far, I have not seen it, no trace detection of anything, no extraordinary stand-off distances. Like Paige said, "standard or not far off from standard" stuff. Niche marketing is what I've seen and that's hardly how one markets revolutionary technology. With revolutionary technology you grap the bull by the horns!
Promoters can post all the links and "connect-the-dots" posts their heart's desire if they choose to do so, they may even believe some of it. But that's penny stock message board marketing and will accomplish nothing IMO. Griffin is trying to change that and the way Loch/CDEx has operated. He wants to attract new money, but until savvy investors are given the correct information which establishes clear advantages to the technology I don't believe that the big bucks will be forthcoming.
If he wants to get CDEx out of the small time rut, he has to disclose more information about the technology and convince investors it's superior. If they have something that will "wow" (TM- capnmike) people now is the time to stop guarding it and get out of the Loch/CDEx mode we've all witnessed for the last 6 years.
RA, it is a very impressive operation. Vertically integrated, growing their own crystals instead of waiting six months for delivery to get a "blip" on an oscilloscope, 30,000 square foot facility, ISO9001 certified.....
And they're developing new micro-packaging to make their units half the current size and reduce the cost.
Been to busy to call today, but I will.
Paige,
"Did you notice how close the shooting distance is with their tech...when I see stuff like that I know we are right on target or not to far off with what's standard."
Yes I did. What is the stand-off distance of the meth gun? Can the meth gun detect trace quantities or bulk only?
"Right on target or not to far off from standard?"
The way capnmike is pumping the meth gun lately he has given me the impression that it's much more than just "standard" or "substandard" as you describe it! LOL
Did you read how the FirstDefender can analyze mixtures using expert system software and give probable compositons? Cool.
I don't believe that Valimed can do that. I wonder if the meth gun will have that capability?
Did you know that street meth can be loaded with impurities and solvents of all kinds. Seems this device will have a lot of utiltiy to analyze dirty batches and the different precusors and solvents used in cooking. I'm impressed with the FACTS I read.
What will the meth gun read besides meth? Will it be another niche market product like Valimed and read only meth? Where are all the facts on the meth gun?
Why all the endless posting of "connect the dots" links by capnmike yet not a single post on the performance of the gun? LOL!!
Why no new investors? I think I know why. Because investors have seen the same type of advertising with Loch/CDEx for over six years. Yes, they now have Valimed and I think it's a useful device, but even that was over hype and the jury is still out on how well it will sell. Now, can ANYONE explain why the meth gun is any better than the other products already on the market? Can anyone compare the performance specs of the different devices?
If someone can give a good pitch on the superiority of the CDEx tech then ya might have something. The fact that no one can tells me everything I need to know at this time.
{i}"...Like I said very interesting company that is also into the PAT process...ASD didn't make any moves towards them...wonder why?"
Because the ASD patent covers validation of prescription medications and they believe Valimed infringes on that patent.
The ASD patent does not cover the application of NIR for PAT applications. Systems for PAT using NIR have already been reduced to practice.
Paige,

Pookie- CDEx competition:
FirstDefender is being deployed across many federal agencies including the U.S. Army, U.S. Customs and Immigration, FBI, and DHS. Hazmat teams across the country ranging from FDNY, Washington DC, Orlando and Seattle are actively using it. It is being used by law enforcement from the State Police of NJ to the LAPD. Dozens of other cities, counties and state agencies are using FirstDefender because of its accuracy, usability and low price. It is available via federal and state grants, NY State HIRE contract and through the GSA schedule.
FirstDefender has been tested by the U.S. Army.
http://www.ecbc.army.mil/downloads/reports/TR-461_Matthews.pdf
What a pleasure to read a honest and thorough test report without any missing crucial data or misleading statements. What ever happen to the CDEx Army report? Did CDEx have it labeled as a proprietary trade secret?
I personally don't believe that CDEX is on track for the grant money you keep referencing. The meth gun is just now transitoning into a beta unit for testing in a few months. Any agency that wants a piece of the 99 million grant money should be getting their applications in NOW IMO. A production model meth gun is going to take a while to get to the point of availability where FirstDefender is now. How long did the ValiMed testing program take before the first production run?
I'll be giving the company a call to get their opinion about applications for meth lab abatement and whether their device is a contender for that market.
Know your competition.
And keep it real.
OT: Have a great 4th all loch/CDEx investors and past investors!
Great story Viking! (O'Hare)
Good post Arloco I'll be investigating that further in the next couple days.
RA, don't get thrown in the slammer! LOL
Sand, I'll get to that email tommorrow.
Sanddollar, nawww... pointless to stir up the mud again. I'm just content that Ontheedge isn't posting his nonsense anymore.
This board is a more civil place without his posts.
Viking, I've always found the Declaration Of Independence to be one of the best documents ever written. Simply beautifully written.
Congratulations as new board moderator.
Have a great 4th holiday weekend!
So WMFT, you believe Monsoonman, do you believe all that Ontheedge posted?
Shall I post specific examples for you to review?
" Please tell us how you know more than BAXA and its scientists, medical personnel, president, etc....Just how cdex scammed them into aligning themselves with such a scandal ridden company like cdex....."
You really need to stop feeding the paranoia bonfire around here.
I would have bet (sorry scared) that Monsoonman reported that the pill was crushed.
Now WMFT is saying that in the demo he saw the pill was intact.
I'm so confused I don't know which one to believe!!! LOL
You're right Crow with both examples except for one minor detail. Substitue the word "absorption" for "interference" and I'll be happy! LOL
"The sample is in a cuvette..your excite it with UV..shine the UV through the sample onto a detector..the detector samples the interference bands, passes the info on to the electronics..then to the read out. Requires a liquid sample, since solids are UV opaque."
The above is UV absorption spectroscopy. The detector measures the intensity of the UV after it has passed thru the sample and compares it with the original intensity. The data displayed is %absorption vs. wavelength (the intensity is normalized). The absorption "peaks" on the graph are inverted representing a decrease in the transmitted intensity.
OK Crow, but I still don't understand where the interference comes into play? The return signal is interfering with...?
Rottenapple, this is for you... and have a nice 4th!

Take a look at loud chart for the year.As soon as they post positive news on lawsuit, our chart will look the same, even better IMO. We have way too many revenue streams for this stock to stay under 5.00... Hang in there,Have a Great week and Happy 4th....
That's your girl RA! LOL
Sounds like your describing conventional UV absorption spectroscopy.
You too crow, have a nice 4th. Go have a pow-wow with the indian spirts on the mountain tops and remember...
.... CDEx will be here when you get back and
...we should be hearing about new Baxa sales.
P.S. Needed CDEx content so I didn't go OT! LOL
Crow, I thought that your theory was about NIR since you're talking about "bouncing off"?
How do you bounce off fluorescence?
Pulsing can increase intensity, but I think the penetration has more to do with frequency than intensity.
Good for you Cappy. Have a nice 4th holiday! eom
