Re: Washburn Communications I'm sure probably everyone thought of this or else put it in a post that I already missed. Instant erase reusable hard drives... Back to lurking, thanks Doma and Helpful...
Dell will sell computers at Best Buy. See link below.
Staples, Walmart and Best Buy. Wonder if we'll ever see any 'consumer' encrypted pcs.... Probably 2009. Still nice to see Dell getting the brand out there.

Thank you for the reply. Its been an interesting journey so far to say the least. Hopefully the journey ahead has bright days.
Weets-
You indicated that you thought that the Dell/Seagate marketing would start after FI on encrypted Latitudes. Any idea when that will start. As we approach The New Year and continued tax selling it would seem that Wave should be doing something to help the price stay above $1. Any thoughts would be appreciated. TIA
CM thank you for your most recent post....I was wondering this. A shareholder just recently indicated that Dell needed a business ID number or other identification for them to order an encrypted Latitude. If someone is ordering on-line now (do they have to provide that info.) I guess what I'm getting at is it easier or more convenient to order on-line????
Thanks Weets!!
Weets- What does FI stand for? I'm not sure why you are excited about it?
JKIRK57 - Thanks for your posts. I especially like the one were SKS makes a showing in the Intel Blog. I found that to be very interesting and hopefully we hear more about it. Thanks again,

60 Minutes...
There was one person interviewed I believe who was asked what will it take to prevent these kinds of things from happening and I believe he said it would be for MasterCard and Visa to prevent the merchant from having or storing the customers' data. This is just what SKS is talking about in the previous article I posted. How far this is away is anybody's guess.
This was a very interesting piece.
Someone had a post on the board awhile ago which I believe is applicable: DigitalTransactionsNews: FDC's Authentication Play Sets It Up for Contactless and M-Commerce. At the end of the article SKS is quoted. The article was dated April 5, 2007. Hopefully the link works:

Did anyone watch 60 minutes?
SKS response to shareholder....
This is the message that I sent to SKS and his reply was for any shareholder so I thought I'd share his message with the board.
Here is my message:
Steven,
It was nice to see some of the companies that closed outlined in the CC (transcript). Thank you for sharing that. I do have one question. I think the Wavoids (myself included) have helped to support the share price over the course of the last few years and you had mentioned that our next notebook pc purchase should be an encrypted one. Is there anything else that I (we) can do as a shareholder(s) to help the cause? Hope all is well.
Here is a message received from SKS:
I would suggest to any share holder the following step to help Wave
1. Make sure IT knows that they can buy a pc with integrated data protection in the form of a Seagate FDE drive. That the drive is high performance encryption, very secure, and easy to manage. That the drive can be managed by Wave and that we have a server that will enable the organization to prove any lost laptop was encrypted.
2. Make sure that IT knows that TPMs can be used to help any enterprise increase their secure authentication and for more information visit Wave, call us and or talk to your dell rep. The integrated security of a TPM can dramatically help any enterprise secure their machines.
3. With a growing installed base of machines that have the Wave Client the market potential of upgrades is increasing every day. We are seeing engagement “finally” and the 17 million units out there represent a growing opportunity for Wave upgrades. It is definitely time to look at Wave again.
4. Dell, Seagate, Intel, and others Key milestones over the next few months. Progress happens almost daily you can feel it.
a. Broader availability of machines and drives as roll out continues
b. Broader market awareness (Both good coverage by industry and promotion by Wave and partners)
c. Continued enterprise orders of machines with drives
d. Continued evolution of demand globally driven by data protection laws and regulations.
5. It has taken a long time but the market is developing the company is very focused on growth and looking forward, our partners are driving growth and only looking forward, our investors should focus on volume, on growth and look forward, The market will see the results.
Thanks for the note
Have a good weekend
Steven
His reply was sent Saturday evening so its nice to see his dedication.
Wavxmaster - There is definately some things to be able to sink our teeth into this time around. If UBS is getting into the encryption mix one has to wonder who else is as well. Hopefully good times ahead... Genz2
Chance to See - Thank you... I've been checking over at Seeking Alpha every day and I'm glad you did this. Its much appreciated.
Doma- edited message
I thought I saw an article about the Latitude 430 and it came optionally with the encrypted drive back in July. (Of course the option wasn't available right then.) Maybe that article was incorrect?
It was posted by Kailito1 and message #147181.
Goepling - I just wanted to say Thank you for your posts as of late. I'm sure there are many others who really appreciate your efforts as well. Thanks again.

Thank you very much Cosign. One can only wonder what the next piece of marketing information is after this. This article made it's point very well.
Thanks again.
I thought the comments on the Business Week article were interesting. Does anyone know how many subscribers there are to Business Week or how many of the magazines are sold? Just wondering.
Thank you May1sep2... I really only saw Inspriron. It would be nice to see The Latitude (wishful thinking) or the Precision. They are business computers. Thanks again and hope you have a great weekend.

Harddrives per quarter...
I think Seagate shipped 29 million harddrives last quarter and 7.9 million for notebooks.
No problem. EOM
Gokite- Was there anything else the Seagate reps shared with you that you could share? Just wondering. Thanks
Cosign and all-
As per Weets back in April, SKS said that there were at least 4 20,000 seats at their tipping for TPMs getting turned on ie upgrades. Now, it seems to me that he forecasting none of these to convert. I know its exciting to actually see some customers but what do think of these 20,000 seats not converting.
OT: Radio Ad re: Vpro..
I just wanted to let the board know that I heard a radio ad regarding Vpro and HP. They said that businesses who get Vpro will be able to do remote administration when the system is down while employees aren't at their workstations. Anyways, it was nice to see Vpro getting a push. I live in Conn. by the way.
Its pretty quiet....
Barge, have you left?
What did you think of The Weather Channel news? Hope all is well.

Helpful. Pardon me, but WHAT??
Has anybody been to China lately checking out the computers:)? I found it interesting that VISTA has become available for the FDE.2 when China was slated to start selling the 'top secret' computers this month. Wavelongtime...Have you heard anything?
This maybe interesting...
Someone posted a recap of the Shareholders meeting back in June. The poster mentioned that some of the computers used at Interop were Lenovo with FDE. And then..SKS smiled. Maybe I'm reading into that too much but I thought it was interesting.
Wavxmaster- I read your post...and
I thought it was great. It gives us a lot more 'insight' as to where Ping Indetity is and some of whats going on. You were definately missed awhile ago. Thanks for all your info.

Crane post: It was from Pavlath...
JKIRK57- SKS e-mail is ssprague@wavesys.com. He has responded to me in the past. I remember Intertrust being taken out a few years ago as well. My guess is that the if things really start to happen for Wave the market will assign a multiple much larger than what a company wanting to takeover Wave could digest. JMO.
Hi everyone! Is there anyone who will be attending the Seminar in New York? Also, when is that PCMAGCAST thing today?
This may be a dumb question, but I'll ask anyways. Is Dell selling Latitude 430 with FDE overseas or is it selling in another Latitude? I would think with the Seminars over in Germany that it would be at least selling there. Or was the Big Dell Announcement a little while ago saying that Dell was selling the 630 and 830 everywhere.
Does anyone think we'll see anything out of the ARM Developer's conference next week? It would seem that there are enough ARM1176 processor's in place to start utilizing the capabilities. Mobile sure seems like an interesting space. If anybody sees Wave doing anything within this space in oh say the next 3 to 6 months I'd sure like to hear your perspective.
I've always received helpful answers in the past and its part of what makes this board great. TIA for any answers or perspectives.

Hey Dude_Danny, Nice Find!
"Start Encrypting Now, The Lawyers are Coming!" That may wake a few people up.
JKIRK57
Thank you for posting that. I don't think those 25packs were there a little while ago. If one has done any kind of googling on these Seagate model numbers you can't help but seeing the Wave ad(as you pointed out) for managing these drives on the right hand side. Lookin' good.
I thought this was interesting...
I don't know if anyone has pointed this out but on at least 5 websites the Seagate FDE.2 (ST9160824AS) is selling in 25 packs now. I'm sure there is probably more than that. Hope everyone has a great Labor Day Weekend.

THE BOLD WAS TOO FUNNY
RE: SRA conference- 7/30/07
I thought SKS indicated that the Dell royalty results should be available in 4 to 6 weeks. It would be interesting to know what the information is:) Wavoids will probably never know. Oh well. But how many others will know.
TvTonic....
CNET shows 105,000+ downloads since July 8th. That is a lot more than what they had previously if I remember correctly. I think everyone can see the potential of TvTonic. SKS says they need a partner. Barge, any idea when we will see some Kaboom stuff from TvTonic? You have been quiet on the TvTonic front lately. Just wondering what your thoughts may be.
Thank you Dory- I really appreciated your effort to get this kind of information and then share it. Its hard to know what is going on behind the scenes. This certainly helps matters. Thanks again.
