MXES: Bought a little of this yesterday @ $0.11. Increased buying interest over past 2 months is interesting.
50M shares out, 500M authorised....a little scary; but no new shares issued in past 2 years.
The following statements are on the "company" section of the website...but the page doesn't have a date:
.....Matrix Energy plans on leasing an additional 10,000 ac. in the next 24 months.....the Fletcher #1 is estimated to be completed for gas production in the next 30 days.....in the next 12 months the company will be negotiating with a major lender to provide up to $30M
So I'm not sure if they meet these time frames...or when these developments should be expected?
I've been trying to contact the company; but I haven't contacted anyone yet....I'll let you know if I can get an update.
DCTHZ premium only $0.15, not $0.60. DCTH = $1.60, DCTHZ = $0.97, DCTHZ strike = $0.78, so $1.60-$0.78=$0.82, then $.97-$.82=$0.15.....current premium = $0.15, not $0.60.
DCTHW expires 10/2005, strike is $6.60 (I think)
DCTHZ...the warrants with a strike of 0.775 cents--conversion ratio 1 for 1 and an expiration date of 5.20.2008.
According to the terms of the warrants...if the common stock averages 1.24 dollars for 20 days...they can be "called"....
Once they are called in...and for sure there will be a official public announcement of the Company about that when that is the case...you have the choice out of 2...
Either you sell your warrants in the open market..or...you exercise your right to have the sock delivered for 0.775 cents.
There are..according to the as always excellent source of info about warrants....www.stockwarrants.com....3,3 million warrants outstanding.
DCTH: gilead I bought some back on the news yesterday at the open. The news was a little bit of fluff; but the stock is cheap IMO. I took yesterdays news as an indication that the company intends to expand the market for it's existing technology. People keep saying look at the chart for last year; but I see the company is distinctively further along than they were at this time last year. I'm expecting some Phase III trials news in the next few weeks...thet shouldn't be far from at least enrolling the complete test population IMO?
The thing I'd like to see there is a marketing agreement with a sales force of some kind. With them begining Phase III trials, I would think they should begin making preperations soon?
Which warrants do you own DCTHZ or DCTHW?
There will be time to get into EKCS...I haven't averaged down yet. I don't expect any news until the next report....but when Mr. Barchenko told me they'd inked an agreement with ADT Federal Systems...I asked why it wasn't PR'd...so many little companies would be throwing that name all over the wires....but he didn't wan't to be accused of hyping his company.
EKCS: Spoke to the company today, actually to Mr. Barchenko. I always think of more details I should have got after I hang-up, but I'll post this here if any of you would like to build on the facts I got today.
Some points I got from the conversation include:
1.) The "backlog" numbers given in reports do not refer to proposals; but actual orders. Although most of the orders have not been funded yet. He said the company has many more proposals out there....awaiting comitment...but these aren't in the baclog. He said IBDSS funding just isn't flowing as originally anticipated. He said that his staff has been working diligently on site walk overs and proposal writting....and he's disapointed that none of this has led to billable work yet. He said when the IBDSS solicitation was originally issued there were 32 projects outlined....now that number has increased to 132 projects...but funding isn't flowing yet....he speculated that some of it MIGHT break loose before the election?
2.) He said that he only knows of one IBDSS task order award to date, it was given to Abacus, the other small business. He's disappointed with the slow funding of these projects. He mentioned that EKCS was a sub to Abacus on another project he thought might potentially be a higher priority.
3.) He said most of the work on IBDSS does require secret clearances....I asked how much workload EKCS could handle if the work load hit all at once...he said with the "cleared" staff of ECSI and their partners they should be able to handle whatever is thrown at them.
4.) He basically agreed with me that small business set asides NEED to be met on federal contracts.
5.) He said a few things about new technology partners on the IBDSS team that I thought might warrant a PR, so I asked why these things weren't Pr'd....and he said he didn't want to be accused of hyping his company. But apparently they've got some agreemenet with ADT Federal Systems recently to team in IBDSS work. I felt pretty good about the fact he's afraid of hype.....because I know of plenty of other companies that would have these kind of events all over the wires....regardless of their significance.
I believe the market is pretty short sighted here on EKCS and eventually this one will work out.
MDPA: I bought back this a.m.. eom
BIPH sale over...patent new out....makes my previous post regarding Medtronic even more compelling:
Biophan Announces Allowance of Three U.S. Patents
Tuesday February 24, 11:24 am ET
Patents Cover Technology to Transmit Biosensor Information Within the Body to Devices Outside the Body
ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 24, 2004--Biophan Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB: BIPH - News), an innovator, developer, and marketer of advanced biomedical technology, today announced today that three additional of its pending patents have been allowed by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Allowance means that the patents will now be scheduled for issuance.
Noting that the patents cover the use of fiber-optics and photonic components to transmit biosensor information from within the body to a device or devices inside or outside the body, the patents also involve the use of fiber-optic components for MRI Safety and Image Compatibility. Fiber optic components are virtually impervious from interference from Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and also provide very high bandwidth data capacity useful for imaging and remote sensing. The teachings cover various photonic applications where light beams are converted to electricity for powering sensors and for providing therapeutics, or used to carry data back from the sensor or imaging device, and for adapting non-photonic devices to use fiber optics and low powered lasers.
Biophan previously announced the successful testing of a pacemaker using a fiber-optic lead to pace an animal's heart. These patents teach how many devices can use fiber-optics and photonics components to carry information and/or deliver power to a variety of devices, both implantable and those used in minimally invasive interventional medicine, and without potential tissue damage or imaging interference when used during an MRI procedure.

BIPH on sale today. Here's some great DD from the RB poster "unknownfactor".
Here's the most interesting fragment of a long post of his (I verified all this for myself):
......Then to go the Medtronic web site, and review their analyst update of February 19th, and listen the audio re. product developments, and view slide 13 out of 17, you will see that they have said publicly they they will have an MRI safe pacemaker in 2005, and that after that, all pacemakers and ICD's will be MRI Safe.
Listen to previous interviews and filings of BIPH, they have long said that, if one of the three big pacemaker companies comes out with an MRI Safe solution of their own, the other two will then likely want to do a deal with BIPH.
.....Remember that Biophan is in a market where each of their customers is very competitive, and Biophan is likely under non-disclosures with all the companies it talks to in any seriousness. So Biophan cannot comment on what is actually going on.
In Biophan's most recent SB2 filing it said (note particularly third sentence):
"
Pacemakers
Exposing pacemaker patients to MRI creates risks and liabilities that can include fatalities. We have developed a solution that can substantially reduce these risks for patients with pacemakers, that can be affordably implemented by pacemaker manufacturers. We are in discussions with several manufacturers, and have received offers for exclusive licenses for which we
have proposed counteroffers which we believe are more in line with industry pricing, and providing an equitable return for our shareholders who have funded our research, given the improvements in product safety and marketing advantage that we are offering.
We believe that our pacemaker solution can provide our prospective licensees with the opportunity to increase their market share by offering safer devices, as well as reduce potential liabilities from continuing to offer products with known safety risks. Biophan's MRI-safe technology platforms
could make this possible in a way that requires minimal changes to existing product designs, minimal incremental cost for materials, and requires very minor modifications to existing product manufacturing processes. "
It a long post; but it establishes some very interesting parallels in what major medical device manufacturers are projecting and what BIPH is doing.
Some might consider it hype; but I personally believe this lengthy post is some great DD:

I've been riding TCHL from $0.15...shuda, cuda, wuda sold 1/3 in the $0.50s to get my initial investment back; but I got greedy....hoping for that opportunity again in advance of this conference.
I'm still holding some BOCX for free...and wondering whats brewing there today?
It's been a very hard day today though...hopefully Monday gets better! My biggest loss today was on WFII February call options I bought a few days ago, tripled as of yesterdays close, got greedy and didn't sell any before earnings last night, and now they're worthless....ugh! I've also got some later expirations that I expect will rebound soon....but ALWAYS TAKE SOME PROFITS BEFORE EARNINGS....
TCHL my only green today....everything else is big red....not a fun day.
TCHL is presenting at an IBM partners conference at the end of February.....might have a little run if news of this presentation is released. From an RB poster:

Gary that's an incredible story...thanks for sharing it.
You've been through a lot and it's inspiring to see that kindness and charity prevail in your character after experiences that might have left many others bitter and defeated.
I'm greatful for your stock advice...and will definately follow through on your advice to contribute to charity once I get some solid footing in my life (i.e.: once my margins are payed off...and I'm sure I can pay the mortgage for a few months).
Thanks again for your sharing your research with us! If you're helping good people, those ripples in the pond will turn into waves!
I wish you continued success and look forward to learning what I can here!
jobynimble re: EKCS We've read the 10q and have been discussing the finer points of exactly what EKCS considers to be "backlog". Apparently they've been reffering to PROPOSALS as backlog, which isn't standard practice where I'm from. Backlog where I'm from means proposals that have been selected and are pending funding commitments or project scheduling from the client.
ADGO: Back to 0.98x0.99....with earning aproaching is now a good time to buy? Golf clubs don't strike me as big Christmas season benefactor....but comparisson to last year might look good against 7.2 M of sales and a 3.2M loss...hmmmm?
OT: Catfish...I got bits and pieces of Gary's story from his posts. Once he said something like "if I could ever get my hands on that guy that shot me down". That little fragment he posted really got me interested in exactly what Gary's story was. Now that little bit you posted puts the story together for me a little....quenched some of my criosity....and it sounds like an incredible life story...I'd read the book and watch the movie!!! :)
You call yourself Catfish because you're good at finding bottoms. On the fish analogy, I'd call Gary a Sturgeon. He's that rare find in this ocean of message boards (full of misguided advice) that's excellent at finding those very rare success stories in the ocean of Microcaps!!! Me I'm one of those alagae feeding fish that latches on to a host for a sybiotic (mutaulistic) relationship and goes for the ride...but I'm bookmarking resources you guys point out...and learning from the best here! Thanks!
OT: Cat thanks for bringing Gary's attention over here a little too. I'm a lurker on SI and really greatful for all the great info. he puts out. I ran into him on RB at the BSDM board about 2-years ago and he gave me a link to the Microcap Kitchen. That was the most valuable message I ever got off a message board!!
I'd like to thank Gary for sharing his research with the public, it's better than a lot of pay-for-service newsletters and websites I've seen. I'm such a big fan of his.....my wife, my family, and my friends know his name....and know what respect I have for him! Not only am I impressed with the great information he provides; but I also admire his virtues, humbleness, and generosity.
I got layed-off last October...and really didn't want to go back to another environmental consulting job in Hazardous, Toxic, and Radioactive Waste work...even though I was quite successful in winning stock options from my company, performance awards from clients, and great honors like being shipped to the Nevada Test Site to research the Department of Energy's Nuclear Proving Ground lol...what an honor!
Anyway, having found the Microcap Kitchen earlier last year, I figured I'd try to do this full-time....but I started with only 3k, borrowed 4k as a cash advance from a credit card (crazy!)...and now it's grown into 19K total with Gary's picks as the foundation of my portfolio (particularly BIPH)! Gary's picks have been the foundation of my success! I also play some NASDAQ options and some of Bobwins and hwebs value plays....but Gary's led me to my biggest winners...MED...INB...GORX...and now BIPH!
While I'm still only chewing away at prior losses from my own misguided investment descissions early on....I have much more hope for a better tommorrow now! ...and yes...when I get in a comfortable place with my losses burried under a pile gains, I will contribute generously both my money and time to the cause of helping the less fortunate...that's what I originally intended to do as an Environmental Scientist...but the Peace Corps wouldn't take me?
Anywho, best of luck to all of us!
P.S.: Charles Skeele of CRKT returned my call last week....but I didn't have my questions ready, so I didn't get much good info.. Gilead also spoke with him and got some better answers. I told him Gary was where I learned about his company...and I wouldn't be surprised if Gary had also called him. Charles said he did have messages from Gary; but he said he lost Gary's contact info. and asked me if I had it....ofcourse I don't....but I told him Gary could do more for him than his PR company if there truly is promise in their set-top box projections and nanotechnology...so he should find a way to get in-touch with Gary.
The thing I did ask was if they own the patents to those elasotmere cooloing devices and he said they do. He said they're working with a large Tiawanese research institution....this releived some worries of mine about the ownership of that IP....but there's still a few question marks out there with regard to their set-top box business?
Good luck...and thanks everyone!
There was good reason no one wanted EKCS. My hunch the USAF "backlog" would begin to materialize was dead wrong.
I'm a little aggrivated to learn that they were counting "proposals" as backlog. I made the assumption "backlog" refered to "task orders awards". It's a little misleading to call proposals "backlog". My old company never did this...nor have I seen any other company refer to their proposal bank as "backlog". Unless those are "sole-source proposals", there's no way they should be refering to them as "backlog".
I'm still holding from $1.50 and will be calling to see if these are even "sole-source" proposals or if they're competitive proposals. EKCS looks like a very cheap security play now...but I'm starting to understand why.

After a gutwrenching week or so, those WFII calls look like they'll be paying off soon here. REMEMBER FEBRUARY CALLS EXPIRE FRIDAY....they need to be sold or excersised by then!!!!! If I have a double by tommorrow, I'll probably sell half then to lock-up some profits....and the rest Friday morning after the CC.
I've also got a position in the May expirations (QUUEW). I'll listen to the CC to determine what to do with those! Since AT&T and Cingular are both customers of WFII....WFII might get a nice vendor consolidation deal as a result of this merger?
Good luck!
Gilead yes I did, thanks. I'm holding a small position there...and watching. I'm looking for more funds to load-up on EKCS before, during, and possibly after their earnings release. I truly believe the USAF work is in prgress; but due to it's top secret nature they can't PR anything. Northrop Grumann hasn't PR'd anything about the IBDSS contract since they won either.....but the USAF seamed intent to get work done quickly. I posted the Northrop Gruman PR on RB.
OT: naturesfuel...I didn't know you knew about the Microcap Kitchen. The SI Microcap Kitchen is where I learned about GORX @ $0.80 a year or so ago. Keep an eye out over there...especially on GARY P GROBBEL....he's the guru...I'm just a bodhisvata :)
You just showed up at the Yahoo! GORX board a few weeks ago. Your hunch about GORX earnings was a little disappointing....but I didn't buy back in on that info. anyway....I don't like the fact that they continue to manufacture Ephedra considering the legal risks of that product now....even though they're insured.
I'd reccomend some EKCS before it wakes up....looks like the best low-risk/high reward stock to me right now.
Good luck!
CRKTs Charles Skeele just returned my call.
He couldn't provide me many details about the IDN agreement....so gilead....if he calls you please be ready with your pointed questions regarding that agreement.
He couldn't get into details about agreement with Hicom either.
He seamed very proffessional and very respectful of proper disclosure of information.
The one thing I am optomistic about is I learned that they do own the patents on the computer cooling elasotmeres. They're working with a research company in Tiawan on this technology.
He said he had a list of investors he was calling back. He said he wasn't comfortable talking to investors until yesterdays PR was released. I told him the most important one to call would be Gary, because of the audience Gary has at the Microcap Kitchen.
I don't expect a great report for this quarter; but will be cautiously adding before and after the report.
EKCS: Here's one that no one wants right now. But the USAF contract is for "top secret" bases, thus I don't think they can PR task orders and other things under this contract. Next report should be telling of just how much work they're getting from this contract. I'm looking to add before the next report.
This excerpt from their 3rd quarter 10Q filing sounds compelling ...
The revenue results for the quarter ending September 30, 2003 were disappointing. We still have not seen the broad based acceleration of spending in the security industry that we expected as a result of the continuing terrorist threat from both home and abroad. The Homeland Security initiatives proposed by the United States Congress during the last two years have not had as positive an impact on our business as we expected.
However, despite the above mentioned factors, we won a major contract award from the United States Air Force (USAF) for the security of their worldwide air bases. ECSI was awarded one of four 5-year prime contracts, renewable at the option of the USAF for an additional two years, to secure global military sites. The total estimated value established by the USAF for all four contracts is approximately $500,000,000 with 50% being set aside for small businesses. ECSI estimates its contract has a potential value of about $125,000,000 over the five year term.
Our backlog has an approximate value of $33,900,000 of which an estimated $25,000,000 is in the signed USAF contract with additional verbal commitments of $8.9 million. We presently expect to fill these orders within the next 12 to 18 months, although there can be no assurance that we will complete any or all of the orders comprising our backlog within the anticipated time frame, or at all. The nature of our business is that all of these orders and contracts are subject to cancellation or delay at any time thus we cannot be certain as to the total realized value and revenue of our backlog
Catfish there's one issue I would really like to see addressed on SI. That rock_NJ person keeps promoting ADVC; but I've lost 15k there and know their story all too well. Besides the huge OS and float, there's a dispute over ownership of the technology ADVC claims to own. The case was never settled in Australian Courts. Now MLTA.ob claims to own the same rights that ADVC claims to own. It's just a very ugly situation that I would not recommend my worst enemy to get involved in....and I'm still left holding 5k shares until I can wash away 15k worth of losses from it...but I still won't promote that stock because I know it's a scam. I wish someone would tell Rock_NJ to stop promoting it on the Microcap Kitchen because it's nowhere near the quality of stock or situation other people profile there.
Catfish great board for SI lurkers like myself who are too cheap to pay to post on SI! But I am dilligent and look forward to contributing what I can here.
