I too was thinking exactly the same....
what does Vern know that the rest of us don't - the greedy little demon in me has stirred!!!
I'm all eyes and ears as they say...
schnizzle
I've said this before...why should GTEM elaborate at this stage only for the 'basher press' (Jayson/Byron et al) to jump on the bandwagon slating the GTEM pilot network with made up stories like:-
"Globetel Network in 'xxxxx suburb' fails to perform, I couldn't connect"
or
"xxxxx suburb' network coverage is cr*p"
or
"Globetel network in 'xxxx suburb' blacks out TV to 10000 homes"
At least while the location is secret GTEM stay one step ahead of the basher press
...You get my drift I'm sure!!! IMO best to wait till the contract with VPN or whoever is in the bag
schnizzle
tradeforyourlife
Now why would GTEM want to get rid of their 'crown jewels' (Hotzone and Strat), which you kind of imply?
Magic Money was most definitely the least strategic one to hang onto. You don't really think the Peraltas in Mexico are interested in Magic Money do you - do you know something Huff doesn't?
Please elaborate....and show me the light
lol
schnizzle
and everyone on this board also knows that
Jose Luis Peralto is Cofetel Commissioner
dont we?
schnizzle
Copain
The answer to that is a Regulatory issue
Please read the following and draw your own conclusions:-

Apparently the spectrum is 'free'
schnizzle
Not so sure actually Nikos.
Why should GTEM elaborate at this stage only for the likes of Seth Jayson/Byron to slate the network with made up stories like:-
"Globetel Network in San Antonio fails to perform, I couldn't connect"
"San Antonio network coverage is cr*p"
"Globetel network in San Antonio blacks out TV to 10000 homes"
You get my drift I'm sure!!!
Best to wait till the contract is in the bag
schnizzle
Copain - that is old news!!
and well you know it!!!
schnizzle
Murdoch?? - As in Rupert
Now that would answer everything
lol

MCF Corporation (AMEX: MEM)....
how ironic!
Watch out for the MF bashing of MCF
schnizzle
SAM
I hate to say this, but it is indeed apparent that NOTHING Bleckman says has AMOUNTED TO ANYTHING resembling truth.
The hole this company continues to dig for itself just gets deeper and deeper.
schnizzle
Thing is glow beatle...
Projecting is great when you can 'flash the ca$h' like Rockerfella.....and you have a $muli-mil R&D slush fund to play around with...
BUT for a start-up like GTE(M)...
DILIGENCE, FINANCIAL PRUDENCE AND TIMELY EXECUTION are the key objectives that the street wants to see fulfilled. You have to convince your investors you can run a tight ship.
Unfortunately, the strat has ultimately embarrassed us. It blew a $3m hole in the finances!!! was late and is still only partially complete. Without the telemetry, power and Hotzone system Integration, we do not have an Application or a platform to launch a Network Operation from - that was the vision that I bought into
The hard work is yet to be done (IMO)
schnizzle
Lets be honest Glo - we are all losers at this point in time.
Only difference is mine and your losses are only 'technically' on paper at this time...
Whether anyone long is still 'in' or sold out doesn't take the frustration and anger away. Do you think Pit, Jim, Low etc are any less angry than you or I just because they sold.
I am still in, purely and simply to flip this on the 'chance' Mexico comes good - But let's be honest I no longer believe ANYTHING the company says.
We have suffered too much humiliation at the hands of a Board under Dumas that FAILED to grasp the meaning of TIMELY EXECUTION.
schnizzle
I share your sentiment....I have a strong suspicion that is why Koury is rushing to patent whats been done so far to protect Globetel's Strat Intellectual Property Rights.
I think bringing Dr Muntz on board at last brings some convincing credibility and aerospace industry kudos as a last ditch attempt to save the strat programme with possible Government/Raytheon funding.
What hope is there? Jones blew over $3million on the strat with countless delays bringing Huff down in the process. And we still haven't seen sight or sound of any power/avionics/telecom system integration progress with the strat
- What Use is a barebones strat afterall?
schnizzle
Nerd
We all know what happens when a company files for Chapter 11 protection in the US...the end game is the creditors (bondholders etc) get paid first and the shareholders get left with the crumbs (if there is anything left).
Are we really expected to believe that a 'disgruntled' Klaus Bonn, would really do something so childish as to file for BK out of spite. What a load of b*&^^%&^ that is!!!
I do not like the look of this one bit..
What's stopping Khoury from announcing "I would like to re-assure all GTEM Shareholders that there is NO MERIT WHATSOEVER to the current BANKRUPTCY filing in Germany"
Instead we get...
"Similar to the restructuring of other units within GlobeTel, the changes made within GTWE reflect our desire for increased efficiency, and to give us a stronger base of operations in Europe. Our changes within GTWE have been solely managerial in nature, and we look forward to continuing the operation of GTWE in Germany. I have the utmost of confidence in Siggy's capabilities, and believe his leadership will be valuable moving ahead."
IS GTWE BANKRUPT OR NOT - IT'S THAT SIMPLE!!. The Operations continuing statement does not answer that.
schnizzle
Glo...My point is
The company had a vision, touted it's wares, issued stock to raise the capital it needed to execute the business plan.
I as a Shareholder bought into that vision and acquired said stock by believing in that vision. Of course, on a daily basis when the issued stock is traded day in day out the company doesn't benefit - they raised their capital long ago
But the point is, the company has FAILED to deliver on countless promises - in part massively eroding shareholder value (the rest down to Byron, MF etc etc). So therefore, GTEM in part by it's failure to execute the business plan and grow it's valuation has SQUANDERED THE CAPITAL originally raised by the issue of the equity to it's shareholders.
BTW ...I am not turning into a Basher. I am merely sick and tired of the lack of execution, lack of coherent information from IR and further erosion of shareholder value - with a very real risk of substantial further dilution.
I maintain the situation in Germany is deeply suspicious, yet still NOT a forthrite statement from the company IMO. I hope I am wrong..I will eat my words if I am!!
schnizzle
Windrider
I share your despair & frustration with this company as things stand today. As a fellow bagholder myself I too would like to see HONEST, COHERENT and CONSISTENT updates from the company PR channel.
It is entirely appropriate that you question where we are with all those 'in the pipeline' initiatives Huff and Co fed us month and months ago.....Mexico, Strat testing, Germany yada yada!
We are seeing deep rooted 'bad news sentiments'...setting in. I am almost expecting Khoury to come clean on the 'shell company' theory as cited by Lowtrade by announcing a firesale of Hotzone and Strat to some unheard of company - were us retail shareholders lose our stakes for good. But no doubt Khoury will make us feel thankful that we still have the Centerline low margin VoIP operation to recoup our losses from.
This is shareholders money the Company has squandered. It is only right we are treated with respect instead of being left in this current 'information vacuum'.
schnizzle
risk_it
Your probably RIGHT (for once)
lol
schnizzle
Nikos
Don't think anything...!!!
The man hasn't a clue. Where on god's earth is his PR strategy for releasing anything of value to address the concerns or sentiments of us common shareholders.
schnizzle
I agree glo, the SEC is the biggest cloud over us....
but without signed contracts, there is no cash to grow the bottom line, develop the tech etc (or survive for that matter).
The company cannot afford for the SEC to drag this out...the clock is ticking!!
schnizzle
all for laying the groundwork.....but not acceptable to me if there's massive dilution to my stakeholding in turning the company around.
Right now I want.
1. an update on Mexico
2. a formal PR regarding the 'sinister' Germany bankruptcy filing.
3. An update on the Fire Defense trial
4. Status of the Strat sub-system tests
Right now I view this latest PR is just more of the same - afterall as someone already pointed we've had this high powered rhetoric before from GTEM haven't we!
schnizzle
Greetings risk-it
A lesson for you care-of a certain well known web encyclopedia
CEO
In closely held corporations, it is general business culture that the office of Chief Executive Officer, CEO, is also the chairman of the board. Specifically, one person often shares the chairman and CEO titles while another person takes the presidency or may become chief operating officer (COO). However, the term president is from the U.S. and in the UK COO is favored. Underneath that comes the Executive Vice President (U.S.) or Executive Director (UK). In publicly held corporations, the CEO and chairman positions can be separated but there are implications in corporate governance by doing so.
I DON'T THINK THERE IS A SINGLE LONG ON THIS BOARD WHO FELT MR HUFF WAS RIGHT AS CEO
whereas...
CTO
A chief technical officer or chief technology officer (abbreviated as CTO) is a business executive position whose holder is focused on technical issues in a company. It emerged in the United States in the 1980s as a business-focused extension of the position of Director of R&D.
During the dot-com and computer boom of the 1990s, many companies used the CTO title for their main technical person. The MIS and IT community often use the title CTO as either synonymous with Chief Information Officer, or as a subordinate to the CIO who is more versed in the technical intricacies.
NOW GIVEN TIM'S STRONG TECHNICAL BACKGROUND I THINK HE IS MORE SUITED TO THIS ROLE ...DON'T YOU?
So let's wait and see shall we. As a 'long' I will be!
Here endeth the lesson
schnizzle
PS...please feel free to forward this lesson to any other professional shorts, hedgies or bashers. Any similarities to persons living or dead is purely coincidental
I agree with your logic...This is indeed a good sign.
I welcome the fact Huff is still very much onboard and with a Senior Role to play. Bodes well for developing a relationship with VPN or Mercatel Mexico. I am not a predictor of the future but hoped this would happen when I wrote post 46728
To me Huffs problem was he was 'too nice' to "cut it" as a CEO. A good CEO can kick out the non-performers - the people who miss deadlines and Bull**** that things are just great.
I think Koury is a terrier in that Dept were Huff wasn't.
A VPN deal announcement before Xmas would be the icing on the cake for me
schnizzle
Penny Pirate - have you got any guesses as to when the SEC investigation will be completed? Or has anyone else for that matter!
I for one am waiting for that outcome. It must be six weeks since we were thrown out of the Amex gentlemen's club
schnizzle
you had to trawl back 8 months for that one..posted back in Feb 2006 when the PPS was $3.50 a pop and before the Internafta fiasco hit..
Anyways...
A viable strat established as a WiMAX platform integrated with Hotzone Access is a compelling Telecom solution. IT STILL IS!!
If the GTEM/VPN deal is done in Mexico then things can quickly turn around for GTEM.
LIKE i HAVE SAID BEFORE....Strat and Hotzone are the jewels in the crown, if given the chance
schnizzle
chocolate teapots and glass hammers
are the next big things....I hear
jeeeezzzzuzzzz
schnizzle
on the face of things, this seems to imply things are going from bad to worse - can't they do anything right
How many more time bombs are ready to blow..
Gulp!! I hope this isn't what it seems
schnizzle
crashtest.
this all bodes well for GTE as I think it changes the subscriber cost model - cell phone and wifi rolled into one handset.
e.g SprintNextel & GTE for instance can do a deal whereby the Sprint cell phone subscriber can handoff to GTEM WiFi in poorer (rural) coverage areas - where Strat has provided coverage for instance
schnizzle
"Q: What’s special about tradeforyourlife's posts"
"A: Nothing, they are extremely monotonous and boring"
Frank....I do think Kostro has 'shaken the tree' now that he is in control....and he does seem to be sticking to his updates to us retail when he says he will
Perhaps I am expecting too much with the Strat in terms of the systems integration aspect. But for me it comes back to Bob Jones on CNBC 2 months ago when he said, "they're not laughing now".
Who is they?
AND!
Is what we have so far with S2a, really so much in front of the competition - when you consider LM with their deep pockets and resources? I hope GTEM have got a room somewhere full of the latest battery technology hooked up to Uli's Hotzone gear - oh and they are testing it in a deep freeze
Here's hoping
schnizzle
I am struggling to find the enthusiasm!
A bare bones strat isn't going to earn any ca$h. What happened to integrating the power plant, photovoltaics and WiMAX kit. If they can do that at 65000ft...Bingo!!
Till then, more of the same, kept in the dark
schnizzle
Kostro's words!!
......"most concerned right now with the present-day opportunities that are within our reach, such as those within wireless, VoIP and Stratellite(TM)deployment"
I am glad he sees Hotzone and Strat as priority together - WiFi last mile and WiMAX metropolitan area backhaul. But like I have said before if GTEM can establish the Strat as a viable WiMAX platform, then Sprint Nextel will almost certainly be interested to talk business. That to me is why Tim is still here to provide his telecom experience.
IMO the attacks which have reduced us to 28cents PPS have been for a reason....and that is to let the Equity Investors pick up a large chunk of GTEM on the cheap. Undoubtedly, Kostro is playing his cards close to his chest - as he has the same vested interests as us retail longs, but dilution is on the way. If it's to organically grow the bottom line, implement marketing strategies and drive up subscriber growth in Germany etc then I am all for it. Let's face it we are not going anywhere without it.
schnizzle
BTW I also think Bob Jones is history, he really exposed Huff to a mountain of negative publicity with his Sanswire delays
Can someone tell me who Dr Hinton is..
Is he GTEM's Medical Officer?
No I don't think Bill Gates would have been turned down - but let's analyse this in more detail:-
MSFT.....Market Cap $282.55Billion.................60000 Employees
GTEM.....Market Cap $300million (circa Dec 05).....80 Employees
Seriously......
END OF ARGUMENT, END OF THREAD
schnizzle
IMHO quite the contrary...
Internafta, didn't have $150million liquid ca$h lying around the place - but that isn't to say 'wealthy individuals' were not vested in this venture.
The onus was on Internafta to convince THEIR bank(s)through the presentation of THEIR Business Plan, that Internafta could repay their DEBT incurred during the NuTel JV Network Rollout phase. It is feasible to suggest they didn't manage to do this
I really question your motives for posting here - if your not 'long' and you've lost nothing, then why are you here
Your desperation to see GTEM 'on the brink of failure', before the hostile takeover Venture Caps step in leads me to conclude there is something 'more professional' to your presence
schnizzle
Definition: A letter of credit is an irrevocable payment undertaking of an issuing bank issued to a beneficiary (e.g GTEM) upon request of an applicant (e.g Internafta) for supply of goods, services or performance (e.g Hotzone Rollout) with documents stated (e.g a Business Plan) in the letter of credit presented to the issuing bank, a nominated bank or confirming bank, if any, within the expiry date of the letter of credit, in full compliance with the terms and conditions of the letter of credit, the applicable UCP and international standard banking practice. It is a legally enforceable obligation or undertaking on the part of the issuing bank and is not a contract
So basically Internafta couldn't get the LOC with the bank - and GTEM 'walked away'.
schnizzle
Quite self explanatory really isn't it,
although it seems to be beyond the grasp of some individuals on this board, hey -.-. --- .-.. .
schnizzle
Deposit?
Didn't GTEM try and go one step further - wasn't that the purpose of the formal Line Of Credit which Internafta should have concluded with a GTEM 'approved' bank?
Deposit/LOC, the principle is the same - Internafta didn't deliver, which was when the fish started to smell.
schnizzle
Perhaps - you could?
I recall Globetel rejecting the Brazilian bank proposed by Internafta...so technically the LOC securing the $multi-million down payment was never in place
schnizzle
Like I have said before on this board Cole....
What exactly is the protocol for doing business with 'Oil rich Billionaire Russian Oligarchs?
You are implying rich-self made Billionaire types work in the same way, as say a large multi-national corporate does when conducting an 'RFP' tender with other 'multi-nationals'
There is only so much DD you can do and it is 'client' specific. When you are trying to break into new markets as GTEM were in Russia, you will come across all types. And if you are dealing with 'wealthy individuals' the overriding thing that ultimately counts is TRUST!!
Say for instance you met Ramon Abramovich in a swanky hotel. You know he is filthy rich, he likes your idea, but 3 weeks later the yacht blows an engine and he changes his mind. What you gonna do? Pursue him for 3 years for damages and pay the laywers 3mil in fees!! Get Real
IMO you have a really blinkered view of the business world. It's not all deal signing in the Mahogony Boardroom at the downtown corporate HQ!!
We already know now that Globetel had a contract drawn up - they didn't default..Internafta defaulted on the promise. SIMPLE!
schnizzle
