One of my oldest best friends likes watching sports and came to a lot of my games, but only collected swimsuit issues. Years ago I asked him why that is and what about all the sports?
His answer was as I remember sort of "Dude, who's on the ice getting beat up and who's in the stands with a beer watching? You figure it out".

Awww what fun is that? I use it for cleaning my percolator and it's amazing. Found the comet quite late, I only have til roughly 8 - 8:30 before it sets below the treeline/horizon. Now that I know where to look I should do a bit better.
Couldn't get the long lens to work with me, thought my starting points I set yesterday would work...not.

The lighter of the two shows more tail and it was visible to the eye. I had to use my smart phone compass with the info from a great star program Stellarium. Just overlayed meridian grid and got the degrees and found it quickly at that point.

Then we had todays massive moon to boot. Mine was covered most the time out there so I just grabbed a quick one. Of course, by the time I was done with the comet and frozen, the sky cleared up even more and the moon blasted the landscape. I could read the writing on a bag of soil at the far end of the yard.

Hmm. I made two short glasses last night of a mix of wine AND apple cider vinegar and a couple drops of dish soap which I think IS important, topped with plastic wrap w/small holes. This morning both glasses had at least 10 little dots at the bottom very deceased. I didn't even see 3 of them yesterday in the locations in the first place.

Mine must be plant gnats as I have numerous potted plants around the house that go in and out outside seasonal.

I take a half a shot of ACV occasionally because it's supposed to be good for me. Fresh of course, shaken, no gnats.

Well, Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS watch is ongoing. Been out and about since 7:30 when it started to darken. And it looks like the weather took me out of the game.
Just when I had some holes through the clouds I can't find the comet. I have a few other things against me. I live in a hilly area heavily wooded and have no views of the actual horizon within miles of here.

Walking around my immediate neighborhood trying to find it with my binocs just made me look like an old peeping tom. It's lost half it's reflectivity in just a couple days and may not be visible to the naked eye in my neck of the woods. Obviously if I had a high rise around here I'd try for permission to get on the roof. Highest building within miles of me is the two story bar in town.

Sooo, I don't know.

And on another camera note. I like to put a couple of my night trail cams once in a while to capture whatever critters amble by. I'm hoping for a big cat or a bear any time soon. Bears are seen all the time 1/4 mile from me to the south and have been spotted on my side of the highway too. The one time I didn't have any cameras out this summer I was visited by a black bear because he/she tore down my bird feeders and bent the shit out of the shepherd hooks they hung from. I found it's fresh claw marks on my wooden fence post where it climbed over that night as well.

But just the other night I captured nature at it's finest and most natural. Tossed out a chopped up red watermelon in the front yard because many animals love watermelon. So of course around 4am as per time code, a doe with two fawns came up to sample the wares. She loved it and hogged almost all of it and the kids didn't have a chance to get close. Then for the first time I've ever witnessed this, the doe turned in place, did a slow motion slight squat and commenced to relieve herself for almost a minute and a half. Then just casually straightened up and told the kids, come on time to go. This only 3 feet from my cam which is on a mini tri on the ground had a slight upward angle due to another deer nose bumping the damn thing. It's got audio too, but I didn't check that.

I was going to post a freeze frame but thought, nah, this is still kind of a family website... Oh well, it wasn't a bear or big cat, but it was the secret lives of... deer?

I think I'm going to save my pennies and invest in a Sous Vide cooker. My relative swears by it. I can never pronounce it yet. And you can use a heavy duty zip lock bag by lowering it into the water letting the water pressure push the air out.. so an expensive vacuum machine isn't a must have.
