Powerful statement. . .
290,000 U.S. soldiers lost their lives in World War Two, and another 33,000 in Korea.
I don't know how many lost soldiers were conscripts. Those who were, didn't have a choice whether or not to lose their lives. At the time, their nation needed their sacrifice.
How many lives will be lost if our leaders adopted a shoot to kill policy to end looting? Looting is a choice. It's about time that this choice comes with consequences.
And let's not forget about wounded looters. Put them at the back of the queue for treatment.

Funny thing, win10 tries to open that extension now. . .
Not widely known. . .
If a file is an .EXE type executable, Windows will execute it no matter what filename extension you use. The only requirement is to use the new extension.
Cheers, PW.
P.S. I doubt Opera would be trying to execute a file with .OLD as the extension. Maybe something else is going on.
I used to kind of like Opera, but the last few versions really pissed me off by taking away any semi computer literate persons choice to stop auto updating.
I hate automated updating too. But I still use Opera.
In the Opera folder, I replaced the files needed for updating with non-functioning versions.
Opera_crashreporter.EXE
Opera_AutoUpdate.Version
Opera_AutoUpdate.Licenses
Opera_AutoUpdate.EXE
Then I set these files to Read-Only using the ATTRIB command.
ATTRIB +R FileName
With early versions of Opera, simply copying NUL to the updating files worked, but this won't work for recent versions because they check the programs' exit code. This made it necessary to find an .EXE file that does nothing except issue a "Normal" exit code. (ErrorLevel set to zero)
Now, whenever Opera updates itself, it executes an empty file and does nothing.

“The bigger issue is the inappropriate disposal.”
I just got back from picking up a few groceries. While walking back to my car, I noticed the wind blowing a number of discarded face masks across the parking lot. My initial reaction was pity for the poor fellow who will be removing this litter.
After a brief moment of contemplation, I speculated that the people who were wearing these masks were more concerned with their own wellbeing than for others'.
On the other hand, I always wear gloves. But it's to protect my hands from the cold, not the virus. And they make buying frozen food more comfortable. Of course, I'm wearing Winter gloves, not the five-fingered condoms everyone else was sporting.
Don't get me started on the application of alcohol based hand sanitizer when my hands are already blue from the cold. I'd love to dip our "betters" in a vat of the stuff and hang them (naked) to dry in an Arctic wind tunnel.

From an article about Sanders and Warren losing. . .
Socialists believe in redistributing other people’s things, but fiercely cling to their own. The greediest people in the world are lefties. The two socialist senators were full of big ideas for what to do with other people’s money, but don’t touch their homes and their millions. And don’t redistribute their voters.

This guy takes 10 minutes to outline how the political leaders in China worked to conceal facts about the China virus, and why they didn't succeed. Breadcrumbs left on the Internet point to how events unfolded.
This doctor takes 17 minutes to say that they're being advised to attribute deaths to the China virus if it's present, no matter what killed the patient.

In a nutshell, these articles outline how Italy has experienced unusually high death rates from "ordinary" influenza. Not exactly "convenient" facts when the agenda is to maximize fear among the public over the China virus.

An angry Democrat shares his opinions.
The guy makes some valid points. Trouble is, he makes quite a lot of points and I cannot differentiate between those that are worthwhile and those that are not.
In the mean time, I'll consider his dots and see if a picture emerges from drawing lines between them.

Joe Biden Thinks Guns Have Recently Killed Nearly Half Of All Americans
Since so many "dead" people voted for Democrats in the last election, we can forgive Biden for thinking that they're all dead. How they died, a matter of speculation, is a question more appropriately answered by the Clintons.

Then the billionaire announced that he would implement a financial transaction tax — which makes zero sense. It merely inflicts a layer of fees upon the saving public that will drive costs up and returns down.
My thoughts on a transaction tax. . .
Currently, profits from investing are taxed. Some profits are considered income and others are considered capital gains. I pay taxes on both types.
Taking a position involves an opening transaction and a closing transaction. After closing, I can determine if the position was profitable, and if it was, how much tax I must pay.
If the position proves to be a loser, no tax payment is required.
With a transaction tax, I'd be paying taxes on losing positions as well as profitable ones. It's annoying enough to lose money in the market, but paying taxes on losing positions would rub additional salt into my wounds.

Dual Operating Systems. . .
With Windows, it's quite easy. But it's easier still if you ignore your "older" system while installing your "newer" one and alter your boot code afterward. You can do this with the BCDEDIT console utility, or take an even easier route and grab a Boot Code editing utility that features a graphical user interface.
Once configured, your system will present you with a menu of the systems available on your computer when your boot. You can configure this menu in a number of ways: Display order, System names, System to use as a default, and the delay to wait for your choice before going with the default.
And you can have your "other" system's disk hidden or visible. (I start out with visible because it makes it easier to copy stuff I need from the old to the new, and after I'm satisfied I'd done, I hide it.)
Cheers, PW.
P.S. If you have systems that are hidden, you can open them in an Explorer window if you use this code. . .
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C Start \\?\Volume{ca74a537-0000-0000-00aa-530002000000}\
Of course, you'll need to use the Volume string for your system. (I simply copied mine as an example.) And you can use this code in a Shortcut to make life even easier.
If citizens who vote had working bullshit detectors, they'd have protection from politicians like Joe.

A brief encapsulation of current news. . .
Not all Canadians approve of our current Prime Minister. In fact, in the last election, more votes were cast against him than for him. (Election quirkiness enabled him to win.)
Many Canadians wish we had our version of President Trump -- but they'll never be handed the microphone.
Tom Brokaw does a nice job of explaining the relationship between our two countries.
