Xena, you often underlined that GTATQ not only exists because of Apple and their sapphire furnaces but also because of their solar and tech. part.
I don't agree on that point that the price for BK is to see how Apple works or abuse their suppliers.
My question is still on the table - GTATQ needs to pay a price for this BK whatever this story is going to. Something will change or need to sell ...
What do you think the price will be for that chapter11 experience? ($, reputation, value, ....)
I mean if you tell the world that your bankrupt and need external support for reorganization there need to be a price to pay for this support. I don't think that you emerge from it and go ahead as there were nothing happened in the past.
I'm with you - Apple will start a partnership (official) when it is clear (not foggy) GTATQ (Judge is CEO right now) will quit chapter11 ... 2nd step after 1st one ... Professionals are working!
Xena, I would really love it when it comes true but the company situation of GTATQ makes it not possible right now that anyone will come out first ...
When I buy a furnace from an insolvent company - what about guarantee, payment rules (incoterms), transfer of responsibility, maintenance schedule, quality issues .... all these questions need to be clear for customers!
Would be nice to quit chapter11 as soon as possible ... judges should be apply for more important things in the U.S. - marginalia
Apple is wanting quite a lot - have a look to the story of LQMT and Apple ... and Apple has a staying power for their ideas.
What you're refering to is probably the design, sales or tech department of Apple but never ever the finance and project team.
Come on ... Apple won't throw away their own rules for just one asset where no one knows whether the market is ready for sapphire screens on mobile phones because competitors are not sleeping anymore ...
Big point for Apple in the past was always the step in front (exclusiveness).
I don't know whether Apple or anyone else will be the 1st provider of sapphire screens but finally with this issue right now (GTATQ the one and only supplier for furnaces and tech-know-how) in chapter11 process the step in front for Apple will be away from the table. They need other assets to be no.1!
Once again - Apple will never start a project with pre-payments or any other investments directly into GTATQ as long as GTATQ is in chapter11 .... mark this!
There is nothing more to wish that GTATQ and Apple find a way to implement those furnaces into upcoming products (designed) by Apple but you can pray to whatever ... as long as GTATQ is in chapter11 there will be no further direct partnership between Apple and GTATQ.
Why? ... just one advice ... Apple shareholder
But as often mentioned ... there are quite a lot of other interested companies to buy those furnaces or start a partnership with GTATQ because of their IP's in technology (on other solar fields as well) .... but I will write it again ... when you're going to be a customer of GTATQ ... have a look for solvent partners or you get in trouble with your creditors.
We'll see when chapter11 starts into next level!
No, I don't ... ask for a disclaimer.
My question is a rethorical one - you've got it?
Slides from Ocotber last year by a company which is right now in a process of reorganization ... sorry ... as a shareholder I would like to see facts and no slides!
Chances for an asset deal are very common from my point of view.
Are these comments/slides mandatory to judges, stock exchange supervision and shareholder protection?
Quite difficult to answer and argue but keep in mind that Apple is a company which needs to invest for profits and on the other hand there is GTATQ in chapter11 ... what is your impression when you're a member of strategy management (purchase, project, technology ...) - would you wait and invest in a bankrupt company/supplier and even poor quality/yield?
You will never get access to nominate GTATQ for new projects as long as this company delivers under terms of judges and insolvency ... no way!
When Apple is planning to provide a whatever screen (CE oder NON-CE industry) with the technology of GTATQ furnaces then it is absolutely necessary that GTATQ will quit chapter11 or sell furnaces (working ones) to another supplier which is an official one for Apple.
But whoever will be the buyer know the risk of GTATQ. Apple won't buy products from insolvent partners (see corporate purchase agreements) - JMO
Forward your answer to all websites which have their own vision of official documents. Thanks for advice!
Form 8-K GT Advanced Technologies For: Dec 31

" ... The company said in court filings that the bonuses were necessary to help motivate and retain the “key” employees. GTAT’s lawyers said that the company’s stock was no longer good for motivating employees...."
Necessary for motivation ??? - money is and will never be a long term motivator ... old same story. Therefore this sentence is a big punch in the face of shareholders when judge is going to approve the salaries because of this reason ....

My BELIEF is ...
a work contract is a work contract is a work contract ...
You won't get any guarantee GTAT senior management will stay in there when just one party fullfill their part of terms and the other one basically needs to "deliver" TOP performance.
It is what it is - a partial concession and a complete hope.
The judge shall have a look to performance of senior management in detail. There are often team, section and company goals to achieve for that type of contracts.
Anyway - why making those contracts without exceptions (... will not be paid under terms of chapter11). So, this is right now just consequent when I would be a part of senior management to call for adherence of my arrangement.
Agreed!
Conflicting reports claim TSMC, Samsung each have upper hand for building Apple's 'A9' chip
" ... He also believes that chipmaker Global Foundries will be "involved" in building silicon for Apple. But he noted that the iPhone maker's interest in bringing manufacturing to the U.S., along with the GT Advanced Technologies sapphire debacle, make Global Foundries unlikely to "play a spoilsport" to Samsung and TSMC. ..."

X-mas 2014 is over ... or 359 days away from 2015.
Why do we need news right now?
Thanks!
Most of the time MM is more responsible for starting chapter11 process than all the other employees of a company. So, not getting any grants for senior management within this period is a fully comprehensible situation IMO.
Stay in there just for money is anything but loyalty.
The "Q" in GTATQ is a guarantee for ups and downs which a more stronger then in residential stock exchange ... for every public listed company there!
continued selling pressure?
Yap ... by really strange selling orders (no volume in there) and honestly speaking whoever haven't sold their shares already in October might sell their shares for what reason in end of December?
Larry - first of all - big Thanks for your DD and sharing it with the www
Honestley speaking all out there who are working in industry or even automotive (for example) know exactly what you'd like to say.
When there is a milestone in fall 2015 and my product is going to start with a kind of exclusive technology inside I would never change the process a few month before with all that risks.
Keep in mind that it won't be GTATQ but more Apple who will be disgrace oneself by taking these risks when it won't work at the end.
We saw this a bit last fall 2014 when iPhone6 and iWatch were expected to have sapphire displays in there.
There is a little chance that another version by iWatch (start in March/April) will come out with a sapphire display.
Everything at Apple side is timed in detail and close to perfect.
I guess they will do everything not to undergo another launch failure within 12months.
Next point - yes, there are a few BULLS and BEARS out there but there is a difference ... BULLS just want to see it more realistic and even with some good DD. BEARS just say the opposite and most of the time with no detailed arguments.
And NO - all of these posts here won't change the SP in any case because any news we can provide are already history for insiders.
Keep going ...
Sorry - your answer doesn't refer to my question...
Anyway ... I would like clarify whether it makes it more difficult to rename that company when there are some IP's with royalties connected and an owner who is named GT Advanced Technologies?
In so far as GTATQ will be restructred in a kind of a new company name (public helded) and a new shareholder structure (new shares included) ....
Do they have to rename their IP's as well (which company is the owner)?
Pretty nice .... your 1st post here?!
You're welcome!
GTAT(Q) is in a process of reorganization with the help of government because in October `14 there were more values in liabilities then in assets togehter with a huge common potential amount of liability. --> fact!
In December the company decreased its potential liabilities with a new settlement with its #1 customer Apple and at once reached a better asset position by more cash available (see news by GTATQ).
Additionally the company is in a lekker position to sale about 2.000 furnaces until end of January 2015 to underline its potential performance of being and having an alternative.
Don't forget IP for solar part!
Yes, they are in a chapter 11 process right now and it seems not unlikely that GTATQ is going to finish it in that way what chapter 11 was made for --> reorganization!
Chapter 7 would be clear but not chapter 11.
Chapter 11 gives a chance to continue with regular business, pay back the most liabilities, keep safe all workplaces and inventory ... and yes, it is also possible that creditors will get additional shares instead of cash.
But this company is far away from being dead.
... just another view ... maybe noise or junk, too!
Keep in mind that all of us don't need christmas time to love your family and friends more then the other days of a year.
Refugees welcome!
marked! ... failed!
Correct me when wrong, but GTATQ will just provide further news when approved by Court? ... an Court is in X-mas holidays, isn't it?
Why not ... it's time for wishes .... unfortunately

Any thoughts about that 8K-Filing?
...or just logical the following step after announcement by December, the 17th?
For me it is not transparent enough to follow analysts in detail for their estimations in forecast.
When did they update the last time their estimations?
Who are the analysts?
Same procedure here ... http://www.reuters.com/finance/stocks/analyst?symbol=GTATQ.PK
No news - I guess we all know what that means for today.
Agreed!
But the facts are the facts ... nothing signed right now!
http://www.valuewalk.com/2014/12/gt-advanced-technologies-inc-gtatq-settlement-with-apple/
Just reading ....
" ... During the hearing, Judge Boroff had raised some concerns, which Apple and GT Advanced addressed and made necessary changes during a break. ...
What is signed?
Right now nothing!
There is nothing new in there what we've already known since Monday.
NO NEWS!!
" ... U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Henry Boroff said that he would sign an order approving the revised settlement deal. ..."
