Are you suggesting the "team" has not given us anything new? If that is true we need to encourage "real change"......maybe some new board members with a goal of raising the stock price.
The genetics and biochemistry are over my head but the implications of that discussion are clear. There are many diseases that could be treated with interfering RNA molecules. One type of leukemia and triple negative breast cancer were mentioned but "drug delivery" was said to be the problem.
We have a significant amount of data showing that Bio-Path's neutral liposomal delivery system has solved that problem. We need that phase II data to prove it to everyone else.
I think (or hope) that BPTH will have two more independent board members in the near future. Their specific goal will be to increase awareness of this company and bring some big money investors in. The future is bright.
I am tempted daily to add more shares but my holdings are way over 20% of my portfolio... Actually over 30% and I depend on income so I am not adding more shares. But I think it will pay off.
I hope to sell most of my shares in 2015-16 but want to hold some longer term. I have been retired over six years and have some need to start generating cash soon.
SJ, I can't disagree with any of your comments and I would like to see additional board members added. I hope he does become very wealthy from his stock in the company and that I can hold on long enough to benefit as well.
I'm not here to defend Peter Nielson .......but I can point out some pertinent facts:
1) Most of us bought shares at .25 to.40 per share. Even at today's price we have a gain of 4X to 6X. At the time of the salary raise, the pps was higher.
2) while completing the pre-clinical studies, animal studies and a phase I human study the earnings have not fallen below (.05) per share. This may be unprecedented.
3) The increased salary was approved at a shareholders meeting where we all had the chance to vote.
4) In my opinion, he has clearly outlined the strategy and projected milestones for the future of this company.
Yes, he should take blame for the late completion of phase I and I think he needs to do more to promote increased share value but it has been a long time since I made 400% on any investment. I think he deserves the salary and stock options.
Oops, I guess I did defend Peter Nielson.
The annual report is very detailed and gives us a good look at Bio-Path's plans.
The document spells out five strategy goals, the most interesting being number 5: " Enter into a licensing business transaction in the near term as a means to develop the cash flow to fund burn rate and minimize future dilution."
It also listed five key milestones for the near term plans including: "a program to out-license (non-exclusively) or co-develop our delivery technology with a pharmaceutical partner."
I could not find a comment about increasing visibility of the company by hiring a PR firm.
I hope the near future will include news about a new pharmaceutical partner. Teaming up with a high profile company like Novartis or Gilead would produce all the visibility needed to send our PPS up.
It looks like $1.70 is our new support level. I don't think it will go significantly lower but it may be three months before we have news to send it higher. There may never be another buying opportunity like this. As I have said before, I am way overweighted in BPTH and it would be reckless for me to liquidate conservative stocks to buy more Bio-Path. For those who are not in my situation......BUY, BUY, BUY while you can.
Mr. Nielson did tell me he was ready to release the "letter to shareholders" today and planned to do regular updates in the future. He is obviously aware of our frustration.
BPTH did respond to my letter to Rhonda Chiger. I got a call directly from Peter Nielson. We connected this morning and he was able to spend about 30 minutes reviewing the history and future prospects of Bio-Path. I did not really learn anything new except his confirmation that the recent drop in price is due to short sellers and margin calls on some shareholders. My confidence in the science and technology remains strong. If anything, his comments on the potential of Grb-2 for IBC and triple negative breast cancer, increases my goals for future profits. Patience is difficult but the goal is getting closer. Long term investors,........hang in there.
I have forwarded my thoughts to Rhonda Chiger. It will be interesting to see if I get a response. I think that all investors need to back the plan for adding new, independent board members.
Question.......Does BioPath have an IR department? If so how do I contact them?
Yes, we need some independent board members. This may be feasible. I think it requires 25% of the shares to add a new board member.......Someone who will start selling this company to big investors.
Otherwise, does anyone know where to buy one of those big Japanese swords? Today was scary.
We are in the same boat, over weighted in BPTH but I couldn't resist picking up a few more at $1.98. We can hope for $3 in the next month but without news, I expect the rally to reach 2.50-2.70. ......Obviously a guess, not a prediction.
Maybe everyone is waiting for an ask price below $2. Nearly all of the orders so far are "sell" orders
We made it down to $2. Now we will see if new buyers are ready to jump in. We should see a return to $3 over the next month but if we close below $2 tomorrow, we are in trouble (for the short term).
Hold on for profits or buy, buy, buy at this price.
The rats are leaving the ship! We should be down to $2 by Monday. I plan on raising cash today and place order for $2. Another 10k shares will help. If it goes below $2, it won't stay there, will it?
The downhill trend continues , now at $2.15. The chart suggests to me that we will continue down to $2.00. If I had cash, I would prepare to buy at that price but since I do not have cash, I hope that other buyers will be ready.
Good question....I think that management recognizes the criticism of failing to meet their recent timelines so they gave a very vague guideline for this study. It is probably realistic.
The previous phase 1 cohort studies were started one patient per week and the protocol required four weeks of treatment. Then, results had to be evaluated which included blood tests, bone marrow aspirates, etc. The cohort group had to be completely evaluated before beginning the next cohort.
Theoretically these two studies could be completed by the end of May but realistically it will be after July1.
In response to Pstates:
The insiders in this company have to be as interested in price appreciation as we are. The CEO is over sixty years and has to have retirement in mind. He owns over 7 million shares but since his shares have increased from zero (sweat equity) to $2.30, he can afford to wait another year or two. Some of the other directors are probably very eager for a fast profit.
In any case, the job of the board is to make money for their shareholders and they should have a strategy of increasing the visibility of this company.
I agree with SJ that they will need to raise more money to complete the phase II studies and start the TNBC /IBC and bcl2 studies. We know they have approval to sell more shares in the future (up to 100M shares?) and it seems likely they would get a new hedge fund to buy in at a bargain price.
Ridiculous! This company has a pipeline of drugs and a delivery system that can treat multiple cancers without known side effects. Where are the investors?
I think the missing item here is a PR firm that will educate investors about our potential. We should not have to wait FDA approval and millions of dollars in sales to see the PPS increase.
What are they waiting for?
What the f*** happened to my ship. I don't think it sunk but may still be off course. I agree with SJ , the PPS won't go up until there is positive news from phase II. Or until some other news brings big volume.
I am looking out through the fog, across the water and I think I can see something. It's huge but still a long way off shore. Now it's more clear. Yes,yes yes it's there. My ship is coming in! At least, it kind of looks like a ship. I hope the rest of you patient BioPath investors finally see "your ship" coming in.
That was a "tongue in cheek" comment . I really love my own jokes.
I'm thinking that phase2 dosing has begun. I wonder when Peter Nielson will find out about it? ??
A lot of shares sold after hours today. Only the brave are holding on. Something has to be announced before the end of this quarter. I'm not sure I can last much longer.
Well, that was a short rally and apparently was not based on news. Maybe tomorrow?
It looks like something interesting is going on. Around 11:30 est, volume on the buy side started accelerating. The MM's have not let the price go up too much but the trend certainly suggests something positive. But of course, I have been Been on this bandwagon before, so I am trying to control my excitement. I cannot find any news releases.
Presentation was basically the same info but he did state that they expect approval for stage II in ten days. I heard the presentation but could not see slides so I might have missed something. I hope the ten day estimate is accurate.
I am looking forward to the presentation today at 3:30pm (PST) but I do not expect anything new concerning phase 2 study or initiation of phase 1 breast cancer study. Maybe we will be surprised........any predictions?
Another chance to buy this stock cheap. Now it's starting to rebound. Fracking is not going away. This bad boy will move back to 90. Glad to get back in under $50.
It's 2015, do you know where your phase 2 is?
I would like them to answer, "Have you had any talks with companies that might partner with you or buy the whole company. Do they plan to initiate such talks before the end of the phase 2 study?"
Aha, new news! They are preparing to apply for IND on their second drug (for follicular lymphoma). I wonder how long it will take to actually get the application completed? And is it likely that we will hear anything about beginning phase 2 during these holiday weeks? I'm hanging in but patience is running thin.
SJ, please don't assume that my two week estimate was based on any knowledge. It seems like I have made the "two week prediction" many times in the past year. The news has usually been slow in arriving and has not produced the big pop that I have hoped for.
The most recent statement said that the phase 1 data would go to the FDA in December and they expected to start phase 2 before the end of the year........so, we must be close.
You are asking a good question. I have noted this as well. I suspect (this is a guess) that some investors are intentionally manipulating the stock to preserve their investment. With the low daily volume, this is easy to do. Today however the volume in the last ten minutes was over 100,000 shares and could have been institutional buying (smart investors buy in the last hour of the day)
I am very happy with the action today. I believe we could be within two weeks of major news that will propel this stock above the recent trading range.
If I were day trading, BPTH would be a great stock to play with but there cannot be many traders doing that. Average volume is so low. I agree that a dip to $2 would not be a surprise but it cannot stay there very long.
If it drops to $2, I might sell other stocks to raise cash for more BPTH.
Patience? Oh yeah, patient since Oct 2009. We have come a long ways from .25 per share but I am still optimistic to go way above present price.
Should I start buying at 2.40 or wait for $2? I have plenty of shares but it's hard to resist this price. Six months from now, we will say "why didn't I buy more".
