I'm interested, especially if there is something formal and legal we can do.
Hey North4000: my doc admits that he knows nothing about patents, etc. In fact, he has kept all his shares but did not even know the co. is in BK. However, even on the company website, almost all patents have a column, "Owner" (under the major title "patents"), and the owner is listed as RCPI. Most have "US" in the column, "Country", but there are a few others like CA, AU, HK,GCC and IN.
For what's it worth...
Thanks. I've owned this shell or whatever it is since my shares were under the name Sentinel Diagnostics. I will check out Mobiweb. And MDCN guys if you read this: thanks for less than nothing.
You used "con" as a verb, but do I understand you to say the MDCN guys were or are con men? a Kahn man as it were? In your opinion? And you trust the Mobiweb people? Thanks.
I don't know. I have looked at lots of BK-related (and IP) sites and feel more confused than ever. I guess it is, as I said before, that I cannot find any apples-to-apples cases or precedent. Like "Acme Pharma filed Chapter 7 but had really valuable IP and it was sold for $XYZ" But if we figure it out here, I'm all in on getting on the record somehow.
Unfortunately, I don't know that much American law either and this is hard to research because I cannot find an apples-to-apples precedent. Does that make sense? I am not a sue-happy person, but I do wish there was a reason to sue the sleazeballs at Maxim. And I will be dissatisfied if, somehow, the Roskamp Institute is allowed to continue its use of anatabine. And does that include the studies on Traumatic brain injury and Gulf War Illness.
By the way, there was some discussion about who owns the Intellectual Property and whether it is Johnny Williams. I was talking to my doctor friend last night (who still takes Anatabloc) and he pointed out that the patents are in RCPI's name. More questions...
As usual, you're right. But let's say in some parallel universe, someone did a $100,000 PP. That is 24 million shares. So there is a chance that making that public via the TA could suggest a PP that could get us close to drilling, and affect the share price. Or, if there have been no PPs at all, it could discourage someone from doing a PP. I think that actually happened in the case of one person on the other board after the PP amount was disclosed.
Oh and in this other universe, I am dating three Sports Illustrated swimsuit models and, despite my chivalrous behavior, they cannot keep their hands off me.
OK, I won't give up. Like others here, I always felt like the fact that voted-upon measures like the R/S passed suggests that a lot of shares are in the hands of large shareholders. I'd like to think some of these shareholders are trying to come up with a plan. And your point about the creditors is an important consideration. Go RCPI. Q.
Is it possible that the company had to withhold O/S because it could offer clues as to PPs? That could be either good or bad. I'd ask Tracy but I don't think she could answer that question. I am thinking that disclosing O/S with any hint of PPS is sort of like insider info. Yay Giants.
Thanks. I guess that would end my last flimsy hope of this having a happy ending. If that's true, then JW just jumps over the dead body of RCPI, lets Roskamp continue any studies with anatabloc, AND he can sell IP to various entities for specific uses like psoriasis or Hashimoto's. And no skin off Mullan's nose either.
IP questions continued...
OK, I get that Ch. 7 BK means shareholders get nothing. (thanks 1manband). However, consider the following as it pertains to ownership of the compound anatabine citrate:
--on Roskamp Institute's website under a section on traumatic brain injury, there is a sentence as of two minutes ago that says, "anatabine shows great promise at rescuing memory in animals, even when taken at long term points after the initial result."
--If you look at a section about Alzheimer's disease, there is mention of inflammation and a link that says "see web page." If you click on that, there is a subhead that says, "Role of Anatabine RCP006) from Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals as an anti-inflammatory agent."
As I have mentioned a while back, I am an advertising writer. I have to say that finding mention of anatabine, at least in the second case above, seemed purposely difficult. Also, is it possible that if someone at Roskamp was paying closer attention to their website, would they remove any reference to anatabine? This whole matter seems to call for some explanation to shareholders of RCPI...Q.
Thanks for your efforts. I will try not to read anything negative into this. I'm sure we'll have plenty of weird theories here. (gag)
I think maybe over the weekend I will write a letter to Dr. Mullan addressed to Roskamp. In fact, now that I post this, I will be forced to do it so I keep my word!
I see trades of 6 shares, 100 shares, 12 shares. I think it is Google's Calico Labs slowly accumulating after our two emails from here.
(kidding)
I just called RCPI at a number listed for three departments at their HQ. (804-527-1970), and received a recording that the number is no longer in service. I gave this company the benefit of the doubt for months and months. This seems just one more indication that they have no compunction about washing their hands of all the retail shareholders. I mentioned before that in some research, After Blockbuster declared BK, they at least has the decency to publicly disclose that shareholders would probably get nothing. RCPI could issue a similar update; and, if it is not legal to do so, they could issue a PR saying why they cannot divulge anything to with IP or other matters. As someone else remarked upon, if I find that Roskpamp is still conducting any tests with anatabine, I will look for legal recourse. And by the way, did RCPI suspect the company would need to decalre BK wen they did a news release in August (I believe)? If so, I wonder if that in itself is fraudulent. I think I will next send a letter to Mullan thanking him for keeping shareholders and former loyal customers so in the loop. (sarcasm)
EDIT: I see some typos here but am too pissed to even correct them.)
I got the same auto response a few days ago. I guess the glass-half-full way to look at it is that if someone at Calico really looked into anatabine citrate, that person might actually do a thorough job. Would Patrick Cox have any clout in this matter, do you think?
Much better than mine! The irony is that when one describes all the genuine potential and promising results of anatabine, it sounds too good to be true. Let's hope one person at Calico takes the time to check into it.
A while back, Google started a subsidiary called Calico LLC, with the mission to extend life. Today, I sent an email to a business development address and talked about anatabine citrate. A long shot, for sure, but Google sure has the money to invest in this, or buy the IP, or work with Roskamp. The email is busdev@calioclabs.com/
The price is so close to zero, I am going to keep my shares until there is no more symbol. I have a couple of those already like now-defunct Nanogen. I know how to pick 'em. I have tried all kinds of websites to find out things from why people buy BK stocks to ownership details of IP in a bankruptcy I really cannot find any "Eureka!" type things that help in assessing RCPIQ. I did read 1) that, in general over time, shareholders of BK companies are getting less and less. And the one I found where the shareholders seemed to have come out well was a company that owned a bunch of titanium or something. Unlike RCPIQ. Also, I saw that when Blockbuster declared BK, the company (if I read this right) actually released the news that shareholders were unlikely to get anything. RCPI has never seemed like a company that cared too much for retail shareholders. It seems like they could offer some info, but I doubt they will.
Looks like your order most likely got filled. I still think about JB's relating the story of once talking to a prospective investor on a Friday and $1 mil was in the bank Monday. Still very, very possible!
I hope it is someone who knows more than we do and is buying. But it is a bit above $5000 to buy 4 mil shrs. Those computers can trade all day on thin margins. I would love to be shown otherwise.
Although I wish you were right, with this tepid volume (based on actual money amounts), I'm going to have to go with computer algorithms just playing games. And if this is true, for some strange reason it galls me that these MMs would still do this with a bankrupt company. Sociopaths.
I would be part of any effort to do that, if that is how it is done.
This is just anecdotal evidence on anatabine and Crohn's, but my brother has it and when drs. found out he smokes, some have said something to the effect, "Well at least the smoking probably keeps the Crohn's in check." I have mentioned my doctor dozens of times. He has told me he has seen cases of Crohn's "blow up" when someone quite smoking. His own brother-in-law who suffers from Crohn's, when he could not find Anatabloc online anymore after it was taken off the shelves, got much worse in a short period of time. And, of course, we have the Urban Diva with her Anatabloc diaries, which highly praised Anatabloc. I am quite sorry I will lose thousands of dollars on this as an investment. But it also seems a shame that a lot of people are worse off without anatabine citrate.
Just checking in to see if I would be rich soon, but am feeling a negative vibe here (understatement). I wish they could at least sell one of their units like they did on some island like the Bahamas (Bermuda? Atlantis?) a couple years ago.
It's funny you should post that because I just looked at four or five websites that have to do with the intersection of bankruptcy and IP. One reason: I wanted to see if those buying shares knew something I (we?) do not know.
I came across "assignment for the benefit of the creditors." And the line, "In a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, the court appoints a trustee to collect the debtor's non-expempt property, sell it, and equitably distribute the proceeds to creditors.
But I did not find any hard specifics on whether IP would be an "exempt" property. I would think those financiers would squander any value the IP has if they do get to own it.
Thanks Leif.
Can you please offer a scenario where you would bank huge. I would be happy if that were possible. But with Ch.7 BK and the only asset being the intellectual property, how can this possibly recover?
...and since the company filed Chapter 7, going out of business totally, that is the worst news for shareholders, right?
Which puzzles me even more why about 37 million shares were traded after the news. (although it slowed considerably Friday)
Thanks. I should have checked that part first.
I just did a quick search on US Bankruptcy Court, Middle District of Florida, and did not find anything. I will try again later.
That seems like it would be the fair thing to do if possible. But I can't say I've ever seen any sense of caring or concern for the small investors and former loyal customers here. The one email response I got from TJ was even a little condescending. And Dr. Mullan may be a great guy, but he may also be too busy to worry about the fairness regarding any intellectual property. I am hoping whomever owns all those shares that Idcc just referred to have some clout and drag the rest of us UP along with themselves somehow. A dream maybe.
That is exactly the premise I am working from. This is not (if I understand right) any kind of restructuring BK like Ch. 13, right? It means RCPI is not just clearly dead. It is most sincerely dead. (apologies to the Munchkin coroner)
And at the risk of sounding sue-happy, if "smart money" is buying this based on some type of insider knowledge, that suggests foul play too.
I understand the risk/reward...but what could the reward be when the company has declared BK? About 28 million shares have traded since that news. I am puzzled.
If after declaring BK, anyone at RCPI or Roskamp seeks to benefit from anatabine and/or the IP, I will be first in line to look into a lawsuit. No vindictiveness intended. I just feel like all the shareholders of RCPI co-own the compound. I'll be very disappointed if Dr. Mullan tries to use this for his benefit, with total disregard for RCPI owners. (us)
When I was checking a few days ago on Roskamp's website, I found both the GFI and TBI studies listed as if they were still going on. Some team members were the same, others not. I thought someone had posted something in the past two months about recent grants, but I could find anything when I researched it.
I was looking for some mention of anatabine citrate on the Roskamp website and I got the feeling they were not interested at all in announcing their association with anatabine. I think the Institute could done much more to promote (not a dirty word) anatabine and it seems they did nothing.
So how would that effect any type of patents, studies or clinical trials using anatabine citrate? Would Roskamp and Fiona Crawford be able to continue with grants for GFI and TBI?
If not, who would stop them? Those unctuous financing companies don't seem set up to want patent rights.
I've asked myself that and tried to figure out who benefits (benefited) by the company doing nothing. And I have agreed with Nuke John and others who have mentioned that the passing of the R/S indicated that a lot of shares were in the hands of large investors. When I think of my doctor telling me that when Anatabloc was taken off the market, he had about 20 friends, relatives and actual patients who bought it all the way until they could not find it online anymore, it disappoints me even more that this is how it all turns out.
I don't get it. Why is there 16 million shares traded already and the one I just saw was 105,000 shares. Is this just a huge gamble or, as usual, do some people get to know info that average investors don't get to know?
There is an old informal US Army infantry (I think) motto: "Do SOMETHING". In other words, it is better to take some action than to do nothing. RCPI showed no imagination in trying to market anatabine that I know of. Selling it for pets. Looking at some type of connection in China. Watching every study on inflammation and sending out a letter to universities. Something. Anything.
Useless or not, I just posted on Roskamp's Facebook page asking why it is so difficult to find the connection between that institute and anatabine citrate. It will probably be removed without comment.
It feels like there is no consideration for RCPI shareholders, many of whom were loyal customers.
And while I am venting, felony or not, ex-Gov. McDonnell should buy a bunch of shares of RCPI since he is one of the reasons we are where we are. That news certainly gave all kinds of media entities like Jon Stewart an excuse to make fun of anatabine citrate. Incorrectly, I might add.
I feel better.
welcome. You'll hear a lot of negatives on this board and the road to drilling does seem to be taking a long time...but I am still one of the shareholders who think this will happen. Good luck.
